Tell us all about your experiences of this service area.
After all this time the potholes are still there as I found out yesterday morning. 5 hours in Dumfries A&E with a tendon tear to my left arm
Matt Marsay, Thu 1 Dec 2016
Do not stop at these services. I had a meeting there then got a fine which escalated to around £150, even though we had received a message to say the fine had been cancelled. The parking company then insisted the fine had to be paid, cost £50 in the end.I will not be stopping there again.

As we exited roundabout southbound direction I was worried about all the lovely white birds right on the side of the road and realised why they were there. . They were eating from all the discarded fast food boxes bags rubbish it was so sad to see it such a mess but my worry was the birds so close to the road because of lazy motorists not knowing what a bin is for. If I worked there I would go along with a bin bag and pick it up myself to stop the creatures getting runover. I'm going to email the company who own the services it's a mess. Such a shame.

*** AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE ***, stopped here to refuel and meet someone, I was half hour early and initially waited in the car, we both then went into the service station for a coffee and something to eat. Our stay was just over two hours, didn't notice any signs advising of maximum stay and got a fine through a week later.
Just to add the services are in a terrible state and need a bulldozer running through them.
Stay well clear........

The place has really gone to the dogs! Most of the seating areas are perpetually closed off for cleaning, toilets are literally boggin' and I can't think why I keep coming back to the UKs coldest service station. I feel really sorry for the staff. On the bright side at least my wife managed to warm her hands up under the hand dryer!
Woody, Mon 25 Nov 2013
This used to be one of our favourite stopping points on frequently made journeys. I was appalled this time just how the place has deteriorated. It was a busy Sunday afternoon and people were having to stand with trays of food until tables became free. Despite this, a quarter of the restaurant was barred off "being cleaned" although no staff were working in there. That area was piled high with rubbish and generally filthy. The part of the restaurant that was available to use was also very dirty. Tables were not being cleared, and one table near us had the debris of several families' meals still there. There were no cleared tables to provide a comparison, but on our previous visit, even the "serviced" tables were barely clean and the floor area was strewn with rubbish. The toilets were in a catagory of their own. The stink from this facility was detectable in the actual eating area some distance from the doors. Given the large number of people using these services and the prices charged, I would have thought that more of the taking could have be diverted to cleaning.I suggest a comparison with Hamilton Services which are immaculate.
Rob, Tue 12 Nov 2013
Disappointed in the state of the service station. It should be a lovely facility with dog-walking, outside eating, peace and calm, somewhere to stay etc. but it was filthy and smelly! Need to organise regular litter, fagend and animal poo cleanups.

Hugely disappointed with my visit to Annandale Water services yesterday. This has been one of my favourites, particularly because of the small lake with a walk around it. Always a pleasure to trot round there.
However, the management have made the inexplicable decision to remove a standard restaurant and rely on McDonalds and Costa to supply all the hot food. There was another Hot Food Company outlet, but that was closed on a Sunday evening (perhaps always?)
I have nothing against McDonalds personally, but prefer not to eat there too often. Yesterday I really wanted a proper hot meal, not bland fast food, but could no longer get one at this services. Costa could warm up a panini, but that wasn't what I had in mind.
Interestingly, they've also removed the picnic bench from next to the lake. What is going on there?
I've marked Annandale down for families, because there's an awful lot of parents that don't want their kids to eat at McDonalds for whatever reason, and it's simply not on to remove choice like this.
Anyway, I didn't want to be rail-roaded into fast food, so I waited another hour and stopped off at Tebay services for some proper grub instead. That's how things should be done.

We visit Annandale Water Services on a regular basis on our way to visit our family on the Isle of Skye. We travel with our dog so use this stop as a good place to exercise her and stretch our legs. The past few times we have stopped we have been shocked and discusted by the amount of dog poo around the grouds and paths in spite of well placed dog waste bins.We appreciated that this is due to unsociable people not cleaning up after their pets but it is a real eyesore not to say health hazard and feel that it should be tacked either with "dog wardens" or a clean up team.Last time we stopped we did not buy food to eat at the picnic tables while our dog ran around as we would normally do because the sight of dog poo all around put us off. In future will will only stop if we are not having to constantly dodge dog waste.

We stopped on our way to our first family holiday with our 2 year old and our 6 week old. We stopped for something to eat and after queuing for quite sometime we were served then we struggled to find somewhere to sit due to the services being so busy. I was disappointed that there was nowhere to breastfeed privately however decided to feed her in the car. We have since arriving home received a charge notice stating we overstayed the 2 hour limit we were unaware that there was a limit as there was no parking machines etc. I am disgusted that we have been penalised £90 for the lack of their facilities and have appealed this notice now waiting to hear back. A lovely family holiday now ruined thanks to cp plus limited. A nice services, nice food, steep prices but all ruined by the parking.
Natasha Skippings, Thu 13 Sep 2012
£2.35 for mug of tea is a bit steep, even for a service area, although service came with a cheery hello.

I visited your establishement on 27/05/11 and spend a while doing work on emails etc while using the facilities. I was not asked to pay any parking. I was subsequently fined50 pluse the administration fee of 25 by the hire company and 5 VAT so 80 for the pleasure. i have looked now at the website and see that if i stay over 2 hours i owe 10. Why then am i not charged but instead subjected to a fine 8 x greaterI find that this is sneaky as I never tried to avoid a charge, nor in fact knew of the charge. I subsequently stayed in the motel attached and now wonder what fines I will be levied with as a consequence of doing something that i thought was honest. My opinion is that provided i am paying to be within the establishment i.e. having coffee's meals etc. then what am i doing wrong?Fine by CP Plus (which I have appealed) is 0412110527003I dont mind paying my way but in fairness we ought to be informed reasonablyThank you and regardsBrendan

Called in on my way back from Scotland with a caravan in tow. Cars and vans were parked in the caravan area which is signposted to but when you get there not easily identifiable. Could do with better signage i.e painted lettering on the ground which is not obscured when vehicles are parked.Toilets and shop Ok.

Hey Matt well done it just shows they can do it when they want. Good on them wonder if they filled the pot holes in??
Dosser666, Mon 24 Jan 2011
Just an update, got a cheque on Fri for the damage.
Would just like to say although they were quite hard toget in touch with, when you eventually got through, were very pleasant and understanding to dealer with.
Thank you Roadchef.

Matt thats great news keep us posted
dosser666, Sat 13 Nov 2010
Just an update.
Spoke to Colin, he apologised for not contacting me sooner, he admitted that the truck park is in dire need of repairing/overhauling. They have the money, just not got/had the time to do it. I also mentioned that if a driver was to fall in one of these craters in the dark then a far bigger claim would be dropping on the mat of Roadchef. You really could quite easily break a leg/arm, smash your head open. You just cannot tell how deep the holes are espically when they are full of water. This must be a Health and Safety issue, the truck parking space is dangerous?
To be fair to Colin, he came across as very genuine, he has given me his direct phone number and the insurance depts details and said if I need anymore help to contact him and he will help any way he can.
Sent a recorded delivery letter to them (Fri) with a copy of all the emails/details that have been sent so far, an account of the conversation between Colin and myself, and a quote (cheapest of 2) for the repairs to my vehicle.
Lets see what happens now!!
mattredfernhaulageservices@hot, Sat 13 Nov 2010
Matt Redfern: As A regular user of service areas it is a common problem but i have managed to avoid them so far, there is some massive potholes on these sites. Have you tried ringing the site direct during office hours? here is the number of the site off the Roadchef web site, try 01576 470870 the Site Director is Colin Reid hes the main man apparently. Keep us posted on what happens very intersted.

Copy of the email I have sent to Roadchef. Still waiting on a relpy/somebody to contact me.
I visited Annadale Water services on Tues 9/11/10. On pulling into the truck park, there were various potholes and damage to the truck park. It is in a totally unacceptable condition as I’m sure you would agree on seeing it. Unfortunately I drove through one of these holes and it was so deep that I have damaged my vehicle. The low Bar is damaged beyond repair, the bumper damaged and the sump guard smashed. I went straight over to the services and asked for the manager. The lady who tried to contact him/her was unable to so she took my details and said he/she would call asap when they were found. By Thurs evening I still hadn’t been contacted so today (Thur 11/11/10) I called the services again and managed to get the mobile no. for the duty manager. I called and it was answered by a member of your staff who failed to give his name. I explained that I wanted to speak to the manager and why. He then spoke to somebody else, explained the situation and said no one was available and I would/should be contacted tomorrow (Fri 12/11/10). As you will appreciate this has been going on since Tues lunchtime and I still have not had any contact with any authority to resolve the situation and the damage to my vehicle, which is going to be around £600. I also spoke to another driver who informed me that he had just ripped his rear trailer wing off in another pothole reversing into another parking space. I have stopped at these services countless times before never had a problem with parking, facilities, or food. Could somebody please contact me asap, as I’m sure you will agree is totally unacceptable for a company of your size and stature to have your vehicle parking facilities in such a poor conditon, and managers who cannot be contacted. I look forward to speaking to somebody from Roadchef and resolving the damage/costs to my vehicle.
Has anone else had such a problem?

Stopped here on our way back from north west Scotland hoping for a nice hot meal and good coffee.....how wrong could we be. If you did not want chips , greasy fish or dried sausage then no hot food. We were hungry so opted for a dish of salad. What a complete rip off. £5.10 for a bowl full of lettuce, 2 cherry tomatoes, a few slices of cucumber, hard boiled egg and maybe 1/2 oz cheese. then £1.49 for a slice of bread and butter i dont think so. We then went to get coffe. Only had transport cafe type mugs, horrible thick china and the machine had flies all over it. We went without a hot drink needless to say.I have seen more life in a bottle of pop than in the staff or at least the couple that were wondering about. I dont mind paying for things but I hate beingripped off. You people have a duty to provide good clean services especially when you are robbing people. You have the manopoly for people travelling long distances. To make matter worse we then called in the shop and were charged 75p for a tube of mints which cost less than 20p. I just wish the British Public would keep away from these areas and that someone could step in and stop this happening. A disgrace and my message to people please dont bother.
Susan Archer, Mon 8 Nov 2010
This has the potential to be a lovely stop. But.... the overall impression was one of total neglect. I know times are hard, but a lick of paint and some deep cleaning would make a huge difference. Even someone to clear the tables would be a good idea. No wonder there were so few eating in the place.
Mrs Marjorie Cheesman, Sun 24 Oct 2010
We stopped off for a break here this week as we normally do on our regular trips to and from Scotland. We usually take the dogs down to the lake for a walk around but it was absolutely covered in dog poo both over the grass and the path to the lake. We had to continually watch were we were putting our feet and watch where the dogs were walking. It is disgusting that dog owners have this facility which is a lovely area in summer and they are abusing it and the staff are not doing anything about it, but they will soon see their takings down if it stays like this. My advice... don't bother stopping here.
Mr & Mrs Holmes, Sat 23 Oct 2010
The services themselves aren't bad; about the usual for MSAs. The food is okay but the last time I ate there it took an age to arrive. It was tasty though so I'll let them off. The place was generally clean and the staff friendly.
My main gripe is the lorry park being located seventeen miles from the services building. As a member of the trucking fraternity, I'm used to truck park being located away from the main building but it's never usually this far away. Remember to bring hiking boots, a tent, flares (the distress device, not garish outdated trousers) and a big warm coat. You'll use most of your tacho break traveling to and from the main building. They should put a shuttle bus on.
I haven't overnighted here but it's a bit desolate and I'd not like to have to make the commute in the early hours of the morning. At Annandale Water, no-one can hear you scream. But saying that, the walk and time out of the cab is nice.
Miss Anthrope, Sat 25 Sep 2010
Stayed at the Premier Inn and had the misfortune to take the "included" breakfast offer. The hot breakfast was quite revolting - sausage that had spent so long under the heat lamp that it had turned to leather, bacon that was barely cooked, a hash brown that had gone cold on the inside. The coffee was brown but that is a close to coffee as it came. It was undrinkable it was so bitter.
All the staff at both the hot food counter and in the adjacent shop seemed to be interested in was "up selling". For example; "do you want to go for the 'Special breakfast' for one pound extra and you can have two rasher of bacon and two sausages"? "Would you like a second bag of sweets for only 99 pence extra"?
This type of thing just makes it feel as if the customer is there to be milked of their money and that the objective of the staff is not to produce good food and offer good service but to maximise profits at all costs.
Like other reviewers, I feel this could be a really nice facility in a great location but is sadly not achieving anywhere near its potential through offering poor customer service.
Nick Hyatt, Tue 14 Sep 2010
Beautiful location for a break ideal place to walk a dog or picnic when weather permits.

Stopped off on way back from a fantastic holiday in Scotland.Unfortunately this was a BIG mistake.Absolutely disgusting facility in a beautiful location.Dog dirt all over the place, made us all feel sick, absolutely revolting. This site should be shut down and completely revamped. A seperate dog area is required. Dog owners should be ashamed of themselves as well as the management at this location. I WILL NEVER STOP HERE AGAIN
david, Wed 25 Aug 2010
We stopped yesterday and I was ashamed that this filthy service station is in Scotland. All tables outside were covered with dirty dishes with litter all over the place. The windows of the actual service station also leave a lot to be desired. This place should be closed down! The view outside is lovely but sadly that is all that is lovely. Health & Safety should take a serious look at the state of this awful service station.
M Donovan, Mon 16 Aug 2010
This place used to be so nice but utterly disgusting these days. After looking at the food on display on hot plates in the cafe (mashed potatoes going brown and crusty round edges, congealed mushy peas and beans and some other stuff that i'm sure was once food) I opted for the tomato soup as safest option. Although it had big sign next to it stating tomato, when I lifted lid of pot it was green and lumpy. Pea? Had a laugh with another girl who had same idea as me and was also trying to figure out what was lurking in the soup pot. The bread provided was rock solid so inedible. My dad and his partner went for the fish and chips and were told that if they wanted any veg they had to pay extra. Neither finished their meal as it was cold and overcooked. Service was terrible. We had to stand and wait for kids serving to finish their conversation before even looking at us. I must have picked up 20 pieces of cutlery before giving up and choosing the least dirty. The place was not busy but took quite some time to find a table as they were all so filthy. I counted at least 15 tables all waiting to be cleared. The table we did sit at was all sticky. Extremely expensive for food that I'm sure even my dog would turn her nose up at! You could eat out in a nice restaurant for less. Such a pity as it is in a beautiful spot. The petrol station was extortionate too! Have no idea how they can get away with such high petrol prices. I have never been compelled to write on a page like this before despite having been to some awful places but this place is beyond belief! Aviod!!!

The site is located in beautiful surroundings and I've stopped here many times before. The staff have always seemed polite and the food is delicious. (I recommend the Fish & Chips!) However, on busy days the quality of service can (understandably) slip a little bit. However, it's certainly worth a visit; not many service stations offer such a great view while you sip your coffee.

On a lovely Friday afternoon, when needing a break on a long journey from Southern England to Perth, being able to sit out and enjoy the company of a wide variety of birds and look at some lovely scenery is great. But the queue at Costa coffee was very long and slow, the attitude of the staff surly and unhelpful.

On a return journey from prestwick, Ayr after a funeral and numerous road diversions my partner myself and five week old baby stopped for refreshments and toilet break at Annandale, whilest changing babies nappy in the changing room his dummy fell to the floor, having only the one dummy with us for the rest of the journey home we decided to ask for some boiling water to soak the dummy, we went into costs coffee and purchased toasted sandwiches and my partner asked for some hot water. The assistant said Not if it's for baby?? My partner replied it's just to soak babies dummy, the assistant still said No, and to go next door and use their microwave????? I'm sorry but myself and my partner would have taken responsibility of the hot water if it was to be a health n safety matter, however no we struggled home to Manchester with a very uncomfortable baby. The changing area wasnt the best.

Late on Saturday night I stopped at your services. I felt that I must contact you to let you know that your staff on duty in the restaurant that night were the most pleasent, helpful motorway service staff I have ever come into contact with. They are a credit to your business and to themselves. Thank you
Stuart Allan, Mon 8 Mar 2010
Visited 4/2/10 at 6:30. Apalling food display, stale half baguette drying out on a plate beside the the soup container. fish and chips on offer with peas or beans all under a heat lamp and looked like it had been there all day. Asked staff if there was anything fresh and hot, got the look and a shrug of the shoulders. Bought a Costa coffee and a muffin and went home. What an awful place,,, but no-one cares or tries ugh.

I agree that it's not good for a petrol station to run out of fuel however I would really have to say that there were probably good reasons for this. eg tankers not being able to make it to the station due to the weather. I think that the petrol side of it is possibly not connected to the actual services area and are run by different groups. Of course, I stand to be corrected here. Keith - have you ever stopped here before to find that petrol had run out. I'd say it's an isolated incident. The petrol ststion relies on selling fuel for the profits and to get people in the door to buy sweets, papers and something from The Wild Bean cafe that is in there as well. Next time you are in the area, drop in again and do try the facilities and then write down your thoughts. I'll be heading south in a few months time and will visit the place again and give my thoughts. Regards. JIM
JIM DEVINE, Wed 6 Jan 2010
Yesterday I made the mistake of thinking that their petrol station would sell petrol. I had to divert to Moffat to buy some fuel and the Esso petrol station there informed me that the services had run out of fuel since the weekend! OK, it's the holiday season, and we've had bad weather conditions but if a petrol station 9 miles away can keep itself fueled up then this shows terrible mismanagement of a motorway service station.
Keith Starsmeare, Wed 30 Dec 2009
I have been deliberately stopping here for a good few years now. I cannot fault the place at all. I found staff to be pleasant, the toilets always clean and I will continue to stop here. Recently they have installed a "crane gaming mchine" where the child has to use a "grabber" to get a toy dog. It's a great device as you cannot lose! If your child drops the toy dog he/she can get as many goes as necessary for a toy to be won. My son deliberately went for a specific dog toy and eventually he got it. That made the visit even more enjoyable. The wild birds including ducks are a delight to watch and this easily assists the driver to relax a little.
jim devine, Sat 21 Nov 2009
This place is awful, the staff are uninterested and the place was not the cleanest the last time i visited (may 09). I now use Moffat Woollen Mill, which is 2 miles off the M74 and is fantastic and cheaper, the staff are much friendlier and helpfull. It gets loads of coaches so surley this is a good reccomendation.

This place USED to be a treat, serviing home cooked food in a lovely environment. What a nice memory. The reality today is that it's become one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a motorway service stop, in any country, over several decades. That's really how bad it was. There was not a single vegetarian option on the menu for my girlfriend, and I just can't remember the last time that happened anywhere in the UK. I chose fish & chips from the very poor choice offered by very bored staff, and it was one of the worst examples I've ever had, with stale soggy fish, and chips that had literally been boiled in grease. They couldn't even provide tartare sauce, until I bullied them into going away for several minutes to look, whence they returned with some dubious industrial concoction in a dish. Indescribably poor. And in view of how good this place used to be, the bosses ought to be taken out and thrown in the eponymous lake. Whoever is in charge of this place should be in jail, not in employment.

Called on our way up to The Isle of Arran for breakfast. The service was poor, food very poor, cultery dirty took me 5 attempts to find some clean cutlery to eat with, tables dirty taking into account this was first thing in the morning therefore thought every thing would have been clean a very unhappy customer wont be calling again. On our way back we called for a coffee giving your services the benefit of the doubt no change the coffee machines were not working the cups were dirty, so we went to the COSTA bar big mistake no where to sit all chairs on sofas, but staff still taking orders. We were asked if we were eating in or out, in I replied while giving order my husband found a seat, we started our coffee and snack when this rude assisstant asked us to move she said the eating area was shut and we would have to move to the area where we could not get served at before because the coffee machines were not working. My husband refused and we carried on eating our snack, the assisstant was quite rude. one services NEVER TO VISIT AGAIN.

Visited Annandale Water Services today, and it was a disgrace. The tables were filthy, the food was very expensive and decidely poor. When we went to get cutlery my husband picked up 30 knives and every single one still had food on them. The drinks were served in take-away cups and tasted disgusting. How can they charge so much for such poor quality and service.
Lisa Martin, Sat 1 Aug 2009
We called in about 9pm to these services and 9 of us ordered fish and chips etc. Both the standard of food and the service provided was excellent. I have never known the food to be so good at a service area. The staff were helpful, and very polite. Thank you for a great meal in a lovely area!Diane Pallett

Perhaps the worst breakfast I have ever been served. Tepid, congealed and virtually impossible to eat. Cold coffee. No staff around so waiting to pay made the food tip from tepid to stone cold. Like a prime example of the worst of the old motorway service stations.
Rummy, Mon 6 Jul 2009
After a stop on the motor services I stood in the line and asked the people serving the food at WIMPY stand what was on the child’s menu and was ignored a second request was made by wife and the server turned looked and turned away and was ignored once again. We then left! The two servers where serving onion rings this must be a very hard operation as to ignore customers. I will not be using this service station again as there is a second service station 20 miles south of this one.

We drive from North Scotland to London on a regular basis and love stopping at these services. Toilets are usually clean and you can get a decent cup of coffee. Our main reason for stopping however is the location. We have a dog who travels well but it is lovely being able to stop and take her for a nice walk around the lake. You feel like you're 50 miles away from the motorway! Lovely.

We were thrown out for giving a 3 year old some of our own food - a very upsetting experience for the children and we will not be going back.

Just a reply to the lady who was complaining about a BP driver who was refilling the tanks without anyone there. How is it against the law to do this??? Driver controlled delivery at motorway services, that means that delivery of petrol does not require another person present. IF you work for a fuel company please read heath and safety regulations with regards to risk assessments, anything that can cause a spark should not be in close range, including mobile phones, but also if there was a problem with the delivery, you may have caused a blockage if emergency proceedures were needed. Please stop offending fuel tanker drivers, I know lots of them and they work within strick regulations. He was doing his job correctly which is something you should know about if you work for a garage! The most garages on motorways are likely to be franchised too, therefore the gripe should be this the manager not the main company. COSHH, NEBOSH,DSEAR, CAD and DGSA regulations will enlighten you if you care to read.

Perhaps the enthusiasm of the toilet cleaners would be stimulated if they had a Kaivac toilet cleaner as used by Moto. The presence of avian faeces outside is inevitable , but regrettable due to the likelyhood of salmonella therein.21

I wasnt happy with your bp garage at your services. On Sunday 1st of June I travelled to gretna to drop of grandchildren and then made my way back up the motorway hoping to get to Kilmarnock. Just about 15 mins into my journey my tempreture gage in my car started to rise so I made my way to Annandale services to get some water. I rested for a little until it cooled and then entered the garage looking for water. I parked up beside the free air and water machine and was told to move as tne tanker was pumping off fuel. As I work in a very popular garage Campbell Fuel OIls in Kilmarnock in Kilmarnock, I am am well aware of the rules when tanks are being filled, as I saw thd driver there alone, unassissted I was aware he was pumped off derv and not petrol, well I hope for his sake, as it is against the law to dow it urself when it is petrol. As the driver was smart and told to me to move I moved awy to look for a filling can so I could fill my car, and to my disgust there was none.So I proceeded into the shop to find an antifreeze with a summer coolant and low and behold there was none, then I proceeded to ask an assistant who didnt have a clue what I was talking about. So as for you calling yourselves a service station, you were of no help what so ever. I did by a bottle og water for £1.99 which leeked all over my front seat. I was clever enough to know I could put on my heater on at full blast and the fan kept my tempreture down untill I limped home. I was disappointed at the service and what about the poor people who did,nt know what to do, well I hope they have good breakdown cover as you are not reliable, I was in your sevices around 6.30 on the 1st of June fi you would like to check up on your tanker driver from bp, hate to think customs and excise would like to creep up in you some day.

Though staff friendly and toilets clean, the flies all over the serving area put me off getting a breakfast.

In worst driving conditions I had to stop as my daughter was in discomfort. In virtually empty car and poor visibility I have mistaken wheelchair for pram and parked in disabled bay for literally two minutes. Weeks on and I have received letter from CP Plus asking for £80 in charges. Annandale Water was great few years back but since Roadchef took over it is going down with both food and service. Shame for scenery though.

Entered c.4.45pm 28 Dec 06 and purchased a burger and fries at Wimpy:-
1. Wimpy staff took some time to acknowledge my presence - they were not busy but were laughing in the rear area.
2. Burger was overcooked, tough aand barely eatable.
3. Fries were semi-cold, tough and virtually uneatable.
4. Eating area was FILTHY - worst service station I've ever been in.
5. I did not make representations to the Wimpy staff as I was in a hurry and, in any event, they did not strike me as competent to redress the situation.
I have already emailed Wimpy but have not had the courtesy of a reply.

Sevices clean, nice surroundings, staff in shop very good but very disappointed with the food, For 9.99 the all ionclusive breakfast was poor and after a lengthy wait of around 15 minutes for 1 breakfast i'd be reluctant to come here in my proffessional capacity as a coach driver with 49 passengers... it in itself would end up a full day excursion!

nice little service station, as always, motorway services are more expensive than anywhere else, However, as its name suggests its on a body of water and plenty of wildlife to see whilst you have your refreshments, very pleasent compared to gretna services which is a hell hole and not that much further north (iF thats the way you are going), worth a stop.

this is my favourite services, I always stop there on my way to scotland (and back!) The staff are friendly, the loos are clean... but its the outdoor space which makes it really lovely.

very nice, very clean motorway services. quite pricey on food but i guess thats the name of the game when ur stopping for a bite to eat. food is reasonable. toilets kept clean with touch buttons near the doors as u leave the toilets so u can give ur opinion of them.

I am about to drive from Essex to west Scotland and always stop at Annadale, it is small but always lovely. Costa Coffee is always busy but worth the wait and there is lots of open space for my dogs to run around, wonderful.

Had received several recommedations from friends and collegues to use this service station. Was not disappointed. Inside, it is OK, a bit small and lacking much life, but the ambiance is fantastic, after a long drive you can honestly believe you are miles from the nearest main road, and the outside lake and picnic areas are well kept. A perfect break after a long drive.
