Heart of Scotland M8

Motorway: M8
Where: At Junction 4/5
Site Type: Facilities accessible from one direction only
Postcode: G21 2DD

Fuel Brand: BP
The first MSA to open in Scotland and originally called Harthill. It was originally owned by Roadchef, who sadly let it fall into a rather neglected state, to the point where it was given back to site owners BP, who bulldozed the whole lot, leaving only the link-bridge, and built an ultra-modern BP Connect service station with Wild Bean cafe on either side, and re-named the site Heart of scotland. The Bridge is still there, but smells horrible and is slowly decaying even further. However, starting in 2008, the Scottish Government have plans to replace it with an ultra-modern feature bridge that will allow users access to the bus stop facilities that the site offers on each side for the main Glasgow to Edinburgh service. The site makeover is undoubtedly an improvement, but it seems very strange to create such a small site on Scotland's busiest motorway, while, judging by the comments, it doesn't seem to be the best run place either. A Moto M&S, or an Extra, would be a welcome change!
