HAS ANYONE NOTICED AT BALDOCK THEY NEVER USE ANY SURFACE CLEANER SPRAY ON THE TABLES, THEY HARDLY RINSE THE CLOTHS AND USE THE SAME CLOTH TO WIPE DOWN LOADS OF TABLES. THEN WHEN THEY FINISHED THEY LEAVE THE CLOTHS SCREWED UP BY THEIR SINKS, SO LOADS OF BACTERIA IS MULTIPLYING. THAT'S WHY PEOPLE ARE GETTING ILL. ALSO THEY DON'T LOCK THE CLEANING CUPBOARD. WHAT HAPPENS IF A CHILD GETS IN AND DRINKS THE CHEMICALS OR GETS IT IN THEIR EYES???? AS YOU CAN TELL IVE BEEN CLEANING FOR THE PAST 15 YEARS SO I KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. IVE LOOKED AFTER COLONELS ECT.

This EXACT thing happened to me on Saturday (25/10) afternoon ... to the letter... part of me felt it was a scam , the other felt as if I was helping a distressed guy out and hoped someone would do it for me if ever i needed it...... He was on the hard shoulder of the south bound entrance to the A1, he followed me to Letchworth where i gave him £20.. I didnt bother exchanging numbers, i just wanted to go to be honest... he then asked for £40!! said he was going to Manchester.. The below summary is from the M4 services page.
Just saw 29OCT14 0930 the same scam that almost happened to me 2-3 months ago. M40 entry High Wycombe East going towards London. A black car in the slip road, Eastern European/Turkish probably, a small white guy, black hair, heavy build waving and stopping a car. His mates are in the black car couple of meters behind him. They pretend to be car import/exports and need to go back to Dover (this was his story he told me last time). They offer you jewelry for cash. Don't fool for them !!!! Drive on and report to the police.Paul Dickons, 29 October 2014

We stopped off at the service station hungry and in need of a quick bite to eat, we decided to have a meal from chopsticks which we regretted straight away it was just horrible, cold and tasted not very nice at all.....left feeling more hungry than when we entered....overall really disappointed.

Food poisoning.. I assume. I went to KFC yesterday at 2pm, and ordered the popcorn chicken meal. Three hours later the nausea first hit. As I have SEVERE emetephobia, I have been having panic attacks all night long, accompanied by a migraine and awful nausea. It's been twelve hours and needless to say - I am furious! I still feel sick to my stomach and KFC is entirely to blame! I am only fourteen so this experience will just make the phobia worsen, and I thought I was getting better too, but experiencing multiple panic attacks has proved that wrong! I am never eating any of this garbage again, and I strongly advise you do the same. I used to love KFC, McDonalds, Pizza Hut ect. but I can safely say that has changed. DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE ANY COMMON SENSE AT ALL. Fuming!

I have been to Sorriso Cafe after a very long time. Although the new management took over the cafe but the services and quality was absolutely amazing.
People were very smiley and they served us with lots of love and respect.
Well done Sorriso Cafe!!!!! See you soon.

As we live locally to Baldock Services we visit quite often, usually for a Kentucky Fried Meal. We were very disappointed when we visited on Tuesday, 28/1/14 at around 2 p.m. to find the cafe area in a very dirty condition, with drinks spilt etc not just on tables but on the floor as well, and tables not cleared. Our 'Kentucky' meals were cold and my coffee was less than luke warm, even though I returned it to the servers and explained, and was given a second barely warm drink. We have always enjoyed our visits but will not be returning in the near future! Sorry!

I made the mistake of using the mobile repair shop (also sells accessories) in Baldock services to see if they could repair my phone as the display was no longer working. I left my phone with the repairer , this was back in February 2013, after a few months I was told that the phone could not be repaired. Now I simply just want my phone back, when I call in to the shop the repairer never has my phone to give back to me! I even left my address so he could post it back to me and he still hasn't. Now in November 2013 my calls and texts are being ignored. Am at the end of my tether
I just want my phone back Steve Pearce! 07764229633

I use Baldock as a regular stop and as nice as the service station is (clean, friendly), I was getting bored of the food options. Pretty much all unhealthy fast food. Very pleased to have tried the new El Mexicana. This place is great. The food is fresh, healthy and tastes so good. Very impressed. This is now my first choice for food at Baldock (sorry Greggs).Good work Baldock on getting this set up.

I been to Sorriso Cafe and the service and respect given by staff is amazing.
Joseph, Sun 18 Aug 2013
Sorisso's cafe has new owners who have little respect for any one who is white and from England. Especially if you are female. The pork in the full english or the hot dog is now halal, but still advertised as the original menu. The food and service is disgusting. Although I would recommend anyone to visit Baldock services, I would defiantly not recommend Sorisso's
Jo, Wed 31 Jul 2013
Where's the new El Mexicana ? The sign says "Coming Soon" but I think Soon has long gone by anyone's definition.
Ian Skinner, Thu 18 Jul 2013
I visited the Sorriso Cafe at Baldock services today with my friend. I ordered lasagne and chips. As i began to eat my lasagne, not only did it taste bad but was I thought they might come over and apologise or offer me something else, but nothing! With this, I decided to go up to the counter to speak to whoever was in charge. I told the 'manager' that I was disappointed with the lack of apology and disregard for me as a customer. She said, "i offered to reheat it what more do you want?" and "we've never had any complaints before!" I was disgusted by this response and will be writing to the proper manager to complain. I went over to Greggs instead and had a very nice sandwich!

We regularly drive between Reading and Kings Lynn and always stop here as it is the cleanest service station I know. We usually just use the loos and let the dog have a wander. Once, on the way to a funeral on a very hot day, I had a shower which was very clean and very spacious. When we have had food it has always been OK, on the one occasion when we had forgotten to pack water for the dog we were given two large cups of water (no charge) by a young man in KFC. If you have to stop on the A1(M), I would always choose here.

McDonalds should have a litter patrol in the local area according to their own info. We live in the nearby village of Radwell and it is obvious that they are not doing their job: it's disgusting !!!! They should get on with doing what they say and get all the rubbish that is lying around the local area picked up!!!!!!!!We have to live here!

I am very annoyed that Baldock don't appear to employ a traffic warden to prevent non disabled people parking in the disabled bays. This is a common occurrence on a Friday night and causes me lots of problems with parking, as I DO have a disabled badge as I need extra space to open my car door. It would be helpful if people weren't so inconsiderate to begin with, but would be a good idea if there was some form of enforcement of the parking rules.

Driving along the a1m we were looking for somewhere to eat. We read the great reviews for this service station so stopped here. We were not disappointed. There was a wide array of food, pizza hut, mcdonalds, kfc etc. We could all eat where we wanted with no arguments. Clean toilets also. Perhaps needed more tat for a real service station experience. Rowan serving pizza was lovely and smiley.Overall good.

Well, at least they let us bring the coach in again. Didn't leave any muddy footprints this time.Breakfast orders were all freshly cooked, and very well presented, although it took nearly 25 minutes to arrive, after a couple of reminders. The staff throughout the services were helpful and courteous, and (barring a couple of male cubicles) the toilets were pleasent.

Baldock services - NO facilities for toddlers, no microwaves, no baby feed area / tools, changing facilities dire so ended up using Starbucks to warm up food & bottle in hot water - a time consuming and tepid process - please avoid if you have very young children, go to Welcome Break who cater superbly!
Andrew Hall, Fri 29 Aug 2008
Perhaps someone from Extra has read to comments on this site and acted on them because Baldock is a brilliant site, popped in there yesterday en route from Cambridge and couldn't fault anything! There was a obvious staff presence and even security guards patrolling as it was after dark. The toilet facilities were clean and well stocked and I was impressed to see that there were shower facilities too. It was quite busy when I arrived at 8pm but there was adequate parking and a huge communal seating area for all the food outlets, I actually went into the Starbucks (which I found out had only opened on Monday) and got service that would have been previously unheard of in a service station. The staff were very helpful and chatty (hard to believe but it's the first Starbucks I've been in) and I couldn't fault the coffee one bit... fresh and hot. Perfect. They definately have one over the other outlets in terms of service but I've never had problems with the others on previous visits. Luckily I had a full tank of petrol as it was pretty expensive but other than that, from what I experienced, it cannot be faulted. Well done Extra!
Chris Wan, Thu 14 Feb 2008
I've never had any problems with this site, although its a bit strange that there is currently nowhere to buy papers etc unless you go over to the petrol station away from the main building. However, there is a WH Smith and a Starbucks opening there in February so I look forward to that... it will be a big improvement, good coffee and a paper to relax!

Typical naff little eaterie, no style, no character, bland and about as inviting as going into a hospital. Toilets are clean though, and that is a good thing! back to the tarmac....

on friday the 20th october i had the pleasure of using this rip of the public site.I myself had run out of drivng hours so had to park I purchased food from pizza hut. not very nice.I needed fuel for my lorry some 400ltrs which i intended to do the following morning. with no apparent parking attendant about i fell asleep thinking i could purchase any parking fees the following morning when i fueled up. at approx 12.20 i was woken up by a very dodgy charachter demanding £225 to unclamp me.As you can imangine this did not go down well i explained to this cretin that i fully intended to pay the £14 parking when i fueled up in the morning roughly £360 worth add that to the meal i brought i would say that this services had done well out of me.I lost my rag with this cretin and he ran away luckily for me the police turned up. as this firm of criminals turned up in numbers even in the presence of the police they threatend me with violence. the police were very sympathetic to my situation but as it was on private land their was nothing they could do. due to the amount of attention this had now caused the criminal thug clampers agreed to take the clamp of at a reduced rate £180 bargain not! they also clamped some poor chap in a van while he was snoozing in the drivers seat the poor chap was devastated as he had to hand over £180 of his hard earnt wages. To sum it up i will never use your fascilties again and i will spread the word to as many truck drivers as i can to boycott your services untill this awfull criminal practice is stopped .
yours not sincerely one very angry customer
paul hollins, Mon 23 Oct 2006
I also paul was clamped the same day, possibly the same time that you were there.it was done by a cowboy clamping firm who hid the signs and once you had left the vehicle. clamped you then turned the signs round and charged you £165.00 in cash or by western union to release and Extra services actually allow this by giving them the contract to do this.if this is what Extra believe is good practice then hopefully other motorist or lorry drivers will boycott their sites and hit them where it hurts in the tills.if people do not use them then maybe Macdonalds-Pizza Hut-Kentucky will force them to dump these clamping firms for a fairer way to penalise people who park in the wrong spaces instead of ripping them off.no more big mac/pizza or chicken for me from anywhere if companies like this allow services or whoever to allow rip off practices like this.as for Baldock services on the A1(M)think aboout it spending a penny may cost you £135.00 upwards if the cowboys are on site !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Martin Murtagh, Thu 28 Sep 2006
i visited this services today to do a delivery to a well known food outlet parked up run in with a parcel 1 min and came out to find i have been clamped i have been delivering to this place for 4 months parking in same place all the time and to be told that it was in force as from today i can understand fully about ileagle parkers but to do a delivery and have proof in black and white and still get clamped and not warned first i think it is a desrace to honest people like me

Called at the site on the way back to Lincolnshire from Surrey, last year. Found it very good for choice of refreshment and excellent service.
