Like the previous comment this place was packed, queued to park, queued to get in, queued for the toilet, queued for a coffee, a pasty and a newspaper, however the staff were working their socks off! It was just so busy there was no other option. A true credit to moto I think it is, couldn't of wished for better service when wanting a break from driving!

Lynette, 13 April 2012

OH MY GOD!, what an absolutely crazy place, I know it was bank holiday weekend but I have never seen a service station so busy in all my years, didn't help that the place was tiny! Smallest I've seen too. However there were staff directing the traffic to try and ease the problem of the awful car park. Staff working hard, q's everywhere, however hard to relax. Bet it's much better when its not as busy!

Wayne Vosper, 12 April 2012

" I must say it was a cracking burger. I particularly liked the fries which I detected might have been cooked in the same oil as the onion rings. decent. xx"

Stu, 17 March 2012

Fantasic little place, just off the motorway which I love as they are usually a little bit quieter! Mind you, it does have a horrible car park (used to have some graffiti) but its gone now. Maybe small but got all you need, there are even some nice new flowers by the front door! Stop here every week and have no reason to stop doing! Just wish it was a little cheaper!

Karen, 21 February 2012

Rachel, 4 January 2012

Right i cant swear here?! what a dreary and unwelcoming place!terrible access and egress, would usually have driven straight through if it wasnt so awkward to park up! only used toilets (which were surprisingly ok)then decided to eat elsewhere, with a bit of space, sort it out its absolutely awfull.

leo foster, 4 January 2012

Worst motorway services ever been to in whole of UK. From parking to service at Costa inside to service in WHSmiths. Never again!

plant family, 22 October 2011

myself and my wife started visiting bridgwater services on a regular basis recently as a place to meet up with family as we live in minehead and have family in both devon and the midlands we then go into the services and chat over a meal and coffee this has been happening 2 to 3 times a week recently due to family troubles and we were very happy as the staff are so friendly and polite that was until the post arrived wed+thurs 19th+20th of october 2011 and we had on each day a fine from cp plus for overstaying in the car park in my wifes car on the 10/10/11 and my car on 12/10/11 we had not realised you were limited to parking when using the facilities and each time we parked we used the upper level and you would be lucky if you could count 8 or 10 cars on the whole level so we were astounded to get these notices through the door and have been again a few times since so are worried more may come as we dont remember how long we stayed on these occaisions as the car park company are expecting 160 pounds for 2 overstays we wait in trepadation for the postman one thing is for sure we now dare not go back to these services again as by the time family arrive and we do our thing we may overstay without realising and at 80 pound a time it makes it unafordable for us so moto will lose out on our custom and there have been as many as 12 of us at times and now due to these fines our grandchildrens christmas fund will be at least 160 pounds less so be aware if you mmeet anyone there make sure they are there before you arrive limit yourself to one cup of coffee and make sure you take your reading glasses with you if like me and my wife you rely on them as we did not see these instructions they say are visible around the site we overstayed by just over an hour each time the car parks were virtually empty and we have parking fines for 160 pounds for using there facilities i wish the staff had been lousy and we would not of stayed or gone back but the only reason we wont be going back is because we cant afford their hospitality no matter how good it was

mr+mrs hetherington, 20 October 2011

Didn't actually use the services - arrived after dark, had to negotiate the signs to get there - gosh isn't it hidden well - but didn't want to leave a full car completely out of sight in the multistorey car park. It is not an inviting motorway serves and quite intimidating if you are there alone at night.

Jill Tardivel, 19 October 2011

Visited Bridgwater Services on a busy August saturday afternoon. The site is difficult to navigate to, the width and height restriction is awful for anyone driving a 4x4 or carrying a roofbox (as we were) we had to try and find a caravan space only to be told off as the spaces were for caravans only-there is nowhere other for those with roof boxes etc to park! Narrow, cramped and dirty service area, although the toilets were not too unclean. We will avoid in future.

BB, 14 October 2011

Called in on my way home as was in need of a break from driving. Was a bit unsure about getting into the parking spaces on the ground level, so ventured upstairs, and was pleasantly suprised by all the space up there.
As I got out of the car I was hit by the aroma of pasties, and that made me feel hungry straight away.
Once inside, the smell of breakfast tempted me into the restaurant.
What pleasant staff !!!! I ordered my breakfast, and was offered toast to go with it and was then informed that I could go on to get my drinks and pay, as they cook the eggs to order. After getting a drink and paying, and having the staff inform me where I could find cutlery etc, I had barely sat down before my breakfast arrived at the table, with a warm 'enjoy your breakfast'.
On the way out, I was tempted to buy one of the lovely smelling pasties, which I had once home, and I have to say, it was delicious !
I thoroughly enjoyed my food and the pleasant, polite and warm welcome I had from all the staff.
Will definately stop off in Bridgwater again.

Jayne Hall, 21 August 2011

Upon first arriving at the site it seemed very small and extremely busy but with the M5 as it was this was to be expected.

Although the car park is a multistorey, staff were on hand to assist with the directing of traffic to available spaces. They seemed friendly and helpful even though they were clearly overwhelmed by the amount of cars streaming off the M5.

Once inside the main building it to was very busy and I was worried that service would be slow and the facilities would not be as clean as they could be. I was however pleasantly surprised to find that the staff, although clearly under pressure, all carried out there job with a smile which in the conditions at the time was good to see. When trying to sit down with my food there was a shortage of available tables but a member of staff soon cleared and wiped one for me which I was very grateful for.

In short, my congratulations to the staff for making the best of a very busy day.

Sam Cox-Beecham, 18 August 2011

I'm very sorry Mary had such a bad experience, but we have to realise that even the best run establishments have off-days. They don't have a sign up over the door reading, "We are perfect". I am a regular user of Bridgwater Services and I
think it could do with a bit more care because at times, yes, it can be messy.
We can safely park, eat/drink, rest and use the facilities. That's what it is!
A service area with a constant stream of uncaring, messy and often stressed and rude customers to contend with. At the end of the day, they do their best and I for one will continue to use it.

Bethan Mathis, 12 August 2011

I stopped at Bridgwater Service last weekend, only wanted cup of coffee and something small to eat, so instead going to main building I popped to Forecourt and I must say I was pleasantly surprised with friendly staff, big selection of drinks and snacks and freshly made coffee. The services was really busy, but my experience was really good and I will stop there in the future for sure.

Sophie Blake, 9 August 2011

I don't see what everyone is complaining about as it is what it is and it served it's purpose on my journey. Anyone who writes there whole review in caps, I'm never going to take you seriously.

Dave E, 4 August 2011

I don't see why everyone is complaining about the carpark, it's obviously a factor that is out of their hands! Yes it's not the best and the spaces are a bit too small, but the customer service and products are brilliant. I think people need to be a bit more realistic when rating!

Alice., 29 July 2011

Possibly the most depressing and filthy place I have ever been in my life.

Entrance is very confusing. Car park is an outdated monstrosity.

But nothing prepared us for the absolute filth of the food area.

Nearly all the tables were overflowing with fried breakfast detritus. Spills all over the place. Litter everwhere.

We were only stopping for coffee but we walked straight out again.

The place could do with a visit by health inspectors.

karen, 12 July 2011

Myself and my partner visited Bridgwater Services after visiting friends in Bude, the site was very busy as it was during a bank holiday weekend but it was so nice to receive such a warm welcome from the restaurant staff.

It really was the best motorway service area experience I have had, my Latte was perfect - especially with a freshly cooked croissant (it was even still warm).

My only criticism would be that the site seemed too small for the high level of trade.

James Angus, 30 May 2011

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL SERVICES, FOR STARTERS SHOULD HAVE A SIGN ON THE MOTORWAY SAYING NOT DISABLED FRIENDLY, NEVER IN MY WHOLE 50 YEARS OF MOTORING HAVE I SEEN A SERVICE STATION LIKE THIS THE LAYOUT THE STAFF ALL VERY UNWELCOMING, IN PARTICULAR THE WHS STORE, CAN I RECCOMEND THAT THEY DON'T HAVE STAFF MEETINGS IN THE VERY CRAMPED AREA'S OF THE SHOPS ETC, A WHOLE BUNCH OF PEOPLE STANDING AROUND WITH CLIPS BOARDS, OH AND HEAVEN FORBID THAT I DARED TO ASK WHERE I HAD TO PAY FOR AN ITEM THE WHOLE GROUP LOOKED AT ME AS IF I WAS AN ALIEN, AND THE GIRL BEHIND THE COUNTER WAS VERY OBVIOUSLY ANNOYED THAT I DARED TO INTERUPT THEIR MEETING, SHE WAS VERY RUDE,E SHE TOLD ME OVER THERE TO PAY AND MAD ME WAIT INTIL THEY HAD FINISHED THEIR MEETING, SNATCHED MY MONEY, NO HELLO, THANK YOU, GOOD-BYE, SHE DID'NT GIVE ME A RECEIPT OR ASK IF I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A BAG FOR A VERY LARGE ITEM I HAD PURCHASED, I AM VERY OBVIOUSLY DISABLED I DO NOT EXPECT SPECIAL TREATMENT, BUT I ASLO DONT EXPECT TO BE GLARED AT AND LAUGHED AT WHEN I NEARLY FELL-DISGUSTING PLACE WILL AVOID THIS PLACE AND ITS PEOPLE FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE AND TELL AS MANY PEOPLE AS I CAN NOT TO GO THERE

Mary Richards, 12 May 2011

We visited bridgwater services on a long journey from cornwall, as it was lunch time we decided to stop for something to eat and were very impressed. Yes it looks very small from the outside but once inside we had a very enjoyable experience. The toilets were clean, which is a big plus in my book.

We had a very nice meal and although it was quite busy all the staff were very helpful and friendly.

I will be sure to stop here in the future.

anonymous coward, 13 November 2010

I am a regular visitor to Bridgwater services - and yes it is a small site but I always get a great meal, today i had freshly cooked Fish & Chips which would rival any Harry Ramsdens (not sure if they still exist tho). The service was very friendly and the free wifi is a big attraction.

They must have the smallest W H Smiths in the world but it had a great selection of books and I could resist a big fat galaxy bar for a £1 - it was the cashiers fault I only went in for a newspaper.

Bridgwater gets my vote.

Linzzzz, 12 November 2010

Good grief, where to start? Once you actually manage to find your way in, the entrance is one car wide, and as a result there was a queue to even get into the car park. Car park? More like a concrete bunker. It was dark, dingy, cramped and claustrophic. Once into the shops area, it was plain to see that the same philosophy that applied to the car park had been applied to the shops area.

At sometime in the planning process, it seems someone must have made the suggestion, 'Let's see how small, unfriendly and cramped we can make a service station'. The result is Bridgwater Services. We were there about 20 minutes, and that was 20 minutes too long. When we drove away, the queue to get in was down to the roundabout. And this was the 18th September and not in high season. Goodness only knows what sort of hell this place is in the high season.

DO NOT, EVER, VISIT THESE SERVICES!

dave peddie, 11 October 2010

This was the worst Service Station we have ever been in, there should have been a warning on the Motorway not to go in. What it is like in the height of the season can only be imagined as our visit was at the end of September. The car park was dark and cramped with difficult stone steps. People had to then cross the traffic to get to the centre. You could sit to have coffee just feet from the traffic or sit inside knee to knee with everyone else. The staff were harrassed and one who served me in W H Smiths was very abrupt. Never again!

jan peddie, 11 October 2010

your flushes on the wall are in the wrong place. ive sat there yestaurday and i got my bottom washed. with the flush every time i moved it flushed.its like two other services i know. one in sedgemoor and one up on the m62. that are the same as this one. it needs to be higher than where the flushes are now.

john hall, 29 September 2010

In short, a complete DUMP. dark and uninviting.. the car park does not look in any shape or form secure, the toilets were shambolic, and the atmosphere was just appalling where everyone was miserable about what a dump it is. NEVER VISIT THIS 'service station' EVER!

David, 13 September 2010

Dreadful place, cant imagine a worse place to stop.Never again.

GGS, 23 August 2010

Drove in...then straight back out again. It was so small and overcrowded. Drive on to the next service station - at least you can get out and stretch your legs there.

chrissie abercrombie, 5 July 2010

Don't stop here unless it's an emergency,
Unleaded Fuel £1.28.
You are having a laugh!!!

Ian, 23 April 2010

Stopped here today and yes the building isn't great and the car park is still a bit of a squeeze but the new costa coffee area is perfect and the BK looks like its had a revamp. My reason for writing this is to thank the staff - they were exceptionally efficient and the most friendly I have encountered at a service area for a long time. A very nice break from driving.

Phil Matlock, 8 April 2010

Don't stop here unless desperate. No open/green spaces. Diesel most expensive we've seen yet.

Moon family, 5 April 2010

The wretched fiery entrails of hell hold no fear now I have experienced Bridgwater services. A truly monumentally badly-designed facility with literally no redeeming features. Bridgwater services should be bulldozed and replaced with just a small memorial to the happy holiday spirits to which it has laid waste.

Will H, 5 April 2010

Me and my wife liked our visit to Bridgwater Services. They've got one of those Costa Coffee places. The car park was a bit cramped but I think it was better than when we came last year.

George Marlin, 11 January 2010

The worst place I have ever been to the best place to eat was the petrol station. The car park was dreadful with a couple of tents in there and also some rough sleepers. Stopped in the petrol station to get some nibbles and went on to the next services.

Richard, 6 January 2010

the worst services I have ever stopped at, the toilet stank, car parking dreadful with no lighting (NOT GOOD IF YOU ARE ALREADY TIRED FROM MOTORWAY DRIVING)in their strange covered CAR PARK. We decided not to eat, and wait until later only good point staff friendly. have marked it as not to stay at them again EVER.

pauline , 12 October 2009

We stopped at these services in August 09 and they are truly dreadful.....there is only one baby changing facility in the whole place and there was a queue with 15 harassed parents in, waiting to get in to get their babies and toddlers cleaned up. The car park is a nightmare, far too small and strangely set out, and the facilities are too small for such a busy motorway. I have now put a note on our map next to these services to say "Never stop here again!!!".

Woodsies, 18 September 2009

only stoped here because i was starting to fall asleep its the best way to see this dreadfull place. staff were excellent in shops ect but the place wants nukeing and rebuilding. dont stop here unless you really have to you have been warned!!!!!

andy, 11 August 2009

Only stop here if you are desperate for a toilet break. The carpark is enclosed, dark and smells of fumes (not much fun if weather is bad and you want to eat sandwiches in car). The picnic area is close to motorway and noisy. Toilets needed cleaning. Trying to get to main block from carpark wasn't easy with small children as hard to cross with incoming traffic. A horrible place.

Jodie, 28 June 2009

As others have said, one of the nastiest services I have ever visited. Avoid this at all costs and go to Taunton Deane instead.
Having said that, the Burger King meal I had was fine in itself, it is just that this services is such a nasty, grotty place.

John, 11 March 2009

Hahahaha another amenity for Bridgwater to be proud of. As a resident of Bridgwater its just another in a long line of dissapointements our town has. Never have I seen so many people upset with a service station FFS, only Bridgwater could produce one so bad lol.

Mike, 21 October 2008

Dont no what they are all whinging about. The lovely staff have to work in this place and they are really lovely, especially when you have to apologise for forgetting to pay for your petrol like silly old me. Lovely staff shame about their working enviroment.

D Tomlinson, 21 September 2008

Drive past, this is dreadful. Awful carpark, with roof so low in the multistory my aerial kept 'pinging' off RSJs (my car is not as high as 4x4s either, just a normal Berlingo). badly designed carpark also meant confusion.... Didn't bother going inside, I'd seen enough and drove on, but the building and surroundings looked pokey enough with no where decent to sit outside.

David, 2 September 2008

Bridgwater MSA on the M5 is the most uninviting service area I've ever had the misfortune to encounter. Stop there only if your bladder is at risk of bursting should you continue to the next services.
The so-called picnic area is woefully inadequate and the whole place feels like it's been squeezed onto much too small a site.

Adrian Chell, 29 August 2008

Shite. There was a queue for the car park all the way out to the entrance... People were so desperate they were getting out of their cars to head for the loos then getting back in and U-turning. The smell of man piss came all the way out of the loos to the Burger king area...
Scary!
Wait the extra 15 - 20 mins or pee in a lay-by.

simon and Mark, 18 August 2008

Dire

David Gartside, 13 August 2008

Agree with those who say avoid this one if you're towing, unless you're good at reversing. The multi-storey provides welcome shade, but the parking billets are a bit narrow and each has a concrete post next to it which looks unforgiving. Queuing in the car-park isn't helped by the fact that people dither near the entrance rather than driving to the vacant spots futher down.
As a woman and an ex-police officer, I completely disagree with the comment about the car-park being dark and scary for a female - statistically, men are in more danger of being attacked, and in any case this carpark is not so big that you could be isolated anywhere in it.

Frances, 8 August 2008

I have travelled the full length of the M5 for the last few days at, I might add, different times of the day. I have found that the fuel garage services have been very, very poor.
Either the coffee machine has not worked, or there is no hot food available after 8 am.
At the one point, I managed to purchase a sausage sandwich. To my complete surprise (or not) there was no sauce (brown, red or whatever) available.
I also found that there always appears to be at least two petrol pumps coned off and - again - this appears to be any time of the day.
The cold sandwich selection was a complete non-starter. There being only the most unpopular varieties available; sausage and lettuce or whatever.
I assume that all of this is due to the holiday season - but might I suggest that you increase the maintenance and supply of your services during the busy period?
Also, I would like to point out that yours was not the only one to completely fail in customer satisfaction and service.

Tim, 7 August 2008

I cannot praise the general manager Roger Smith hihly enough. I accidentally locked my keys in the car with my tiny baby inside and while I went to pieces, he calmly took control, organized the RAC to come and break in and looked after me until I was fit to drive again. By their nature, service stations are soulless places, but I was shown more kindness there in my time of need than I could ever have imagined. Thank you

Hilary Charlewood, 29 April 2008

The car park is dark and frightening if you are a female on your own in the dark. The amenities building is dark and oppressive.

gail kessell, 19 October 2007

The place was extremely crowded and was like a concrete city. The place could do with a bit more grass to sit on and picnic tables because on a hot day, you do not want to sit on concrete which took up a good proportion of the service station. Too busy and too concrete!!!

Jamie, 5 April 2007

Definitely missing something. An 'e' would make it better. Not even a raised eyebrow in the BK when I proudly payed by credit card, which clearly displayed my famous name...

Ben Bridgewater, 20 February 2007

Horrible, horrible, horrible.

I have visited these services twice now. The first time was a summer saturday, and people were waiting for 20 mins to get into the (admittedly unique) multi story. The guys attempting to direct traffic were clearly out of their depth, especially dealing with the caravans that had headed for the car park unaware of the height restriction (a fair enough thing to do, you dont expect things like that on the motorway).

The second time I actually made it into the drab, depressing building. Didnt try the restaurants, but the shop felt like walking into a cupboard. I had a raging hangover from my mates stag night (dont worry, I wasnt driving), and I have to say the visit goes down as a very unpleasant experience.

At least the multi story offered some shade in order to get some comfortable sleep!

Stu, 18 December 2006

Its not all that bad, it does the job, i was just disappointed that around dinner time the Burger King was shut, fair enough its a sunday but i wasnt going to pay a fortune in the shop, so i drove onto the next one which was open.

Graham, 31 October 2006

If towing a caravan steer clear of these services unless you are good at reversing in a confined area. Bsd caravan signage took me to the lorry park. All parking is by reversing into a bay. The proper caravan parking is no better, it's in the coach park. The services themselves are poor to say the least. Drab and uncomfortable. As far as 'Rip off the motorist' is concerned this site must be top of the table. Go further along the M way to next services.

H. Burrows, 24 October 2006

Horrible, horrible services. Ugly, poorly laid out, and depressing. Also note that due to the multi storey car park there is a 2M hight restriction to the car park. I didn't notice the sign and crashed by roof mounted bicycle into a barrier. The Manager was very unfriendly to boot.

Gary, 20 October 2006

Area was OK, but on our way to Cornwall, wanted a picnic and there was only a small area of grass. It was crammed, overfilled, ugly and a concrete jungle!

Jamie, 11 June 2006

Absolutely awful! Used it a week ago last Saturday on route to North Devon (bank holiday weekend!) and it was awful. Its extremely small - we were queueing for 15 minutes to get into the appallingly shoddy multi-story car park. Inside...well aside from toilets, a Burger King and an untidy and run down shop....theres nothing.

Rob Webster, 5 June 2006

Yes, Bridgwater is now a Moto. I was dsappointed with this service area - it's very small and cramped. The multi-storey car park isn't special at all, and the main building is one of the smallest I've seen at a full MSA! It was quite busy on a dull, average Tuesday morning just after Easter - who knows what it must be like on August Bank Holiday!

David Brown, 13 May 2006

Is Bridgwater not a Moto now?

anonymous coward, 13 April 2006

Bridgwater has what may be the only multi storey car park at an MSA.
