I am appauled at the parking facilities at the East Bound Britonwood services.
I met a collegue for a meeting here on the 1st February 2012. we decided to have coffes and extended it to lunch and coffees and cakes and infact i bought 3 books too, newspaper, spent around £60 altogether. we parked for 4 hours 32 mins and i have received a parking notice an overstay of 2 hrs 32 mins according to PARKING EYE. I have to pay £60 with 3 days notice or iot goes up to £90!! Also there was no notices in view, no machines we saw but had i not stayed for lunch Burtonwood would not have earned any money . Well done Burton wood driving good custom awa no wonder you are closing down!!!!

Good business to fine customers who are spending!!!! Madness

I decided to stop one night last week for a while after a soul destroying drive from Scotland; needed forty (or fifty) winks! I do the Scotland to Liverpool drive twice a week but have never stopped at Burtonwood before. I was approached several times in my van by inoffensive young lads asking me if I was looking for a ‘bit of action’. On all occasions I declined, but was courteous in doing so (was actually quite flattered!)

I didn't use any of the catering or entertainment services; I just used the loos where I might add, one of the lads who approached me in the car park was having a 'good look' at me at the urinal. Harmless ‘morale boost’!

All in all a very clean looking spot inside and a virtually litter free exterior. I would visit again hopefully not being so tired so I can have a good look around!

Burtonwood services are without a doubt the worst services on the british motorway network. The food outlets are terrible, food is served to you by young staff who dont give a damn about customer relations and prices are extortionate definetly will not stop their again

Services are OK if your desperate but watch you don't overstay at the car parks.
Firm called Parking eye run them, don't know why WB are letting these ruin any reputation they may have.
Parking eye do not abide by the BPA code of practice they are supposed to, and send out imitation official looking parking charge notices. To the registered keeper of the vehicle who may not have even been at the services! Which coincidently are really invoices which would be unenforceable in law.
I for one will not be using WB services in the future.

I visited Burtonwood on firday to find that the staff in the eat in resturant where no where to be seen after a few minutes I gave up and went to KFC not that i wanted to but at least they had staff who were serving when I questioned the staff they said it was normal for there staff to wonder off and that they would be in the back or having a fag. Can the management team not manage or do they work by different rules if you work in a food astablishment surley haveing some one on the counter to serve helps

Lovely and clean, and The KFC is possibly the only one i would visit in England! Staff are friendly, food is ALWAyS fresh, and the lovely decking area outside is a pleaseure to sit on!
Kirsty in particular from KFC deserves a mention, and was chatty attentive and completely helpful (something rarely found in ANY shop these days let alone a fast food change)
Well done KFC you have just earned yourself 7 customers back, at your branch at least!!

All Westbound side now demolished Services, Petrol Station, Garage and Hotel. No direct slip road leave at Junction 8 round island and on to Westbound Now very nice with Alfa Tors coach interchange. Odd road system to return to westbound M62 found it better to travel to Junction 9 and turn round.

This site has just this month returned to fully opening 24 hours. For the remainder of June, visitors can claim a free hot drink between 2200 hours and 0600 hours, by producing a promotional flyer. Flyers are available on site. No purchase necessary.

Rip off services, advertise open 24 hours yet they all locked up and left at 10pm. They charged my driver £15.00 for a van conversion minibus, but they insist its a hgv. Their website says £15.00 parking fee comes with £7.00 food voucher, but it does not. Trades discription applies.

Be extremely cautious on the westbound side! I was taking photos and there was a man on mound following me. I realised after that there were a lot of men in cars so im pretty sure it is a gay cruising area. Take care when visting. This applies to the westbound side only as it is completely abandoned and isolated

the westbound is all boarded up, but the east bound side is very clean and hyas just been renovated, toilets clean and the KFC and coffee shop looked nice. W H smith was well stocked and the staff were friendly.

Having recently returned from holiday with the coach operator referred to in archie's comment, I am pleased to advise that compared to Sandbach (J17 M6) where we used to go for the coaches, Burtonwood is a palace!! Well done welcome break - a wonderful place for us oldies to join our coaches.

The westbound side is an absolute dump with the boarded up hotel and pot-holed car park.
Eastbound isn't much better. The worst services I've visited by far due to lack of amenities.

An update on previous comments, I have obtained from excellent authority that this whole site is to be revamped and totally refurbished (Eastbound only - Westbound will unfortunately remain disused). From what I hear, this refurb should propel Burtonwood back to the top-class place it once was. A coach interchange for a major operator and a whole new open-plan interior is planned. Marks & Spencer have bought the parking land on Westbound, but, as the service area are listed buildings, (due to their unique and special architectural significance), nothing nor nobody can touch the Westbound building itself - quite rightly! I just hope WB decide to reuse this one day....

Architecturally, this site is unrivalled - very distinctive, not just a scabby bridge with a Burger King in the middle! I really do wish the Welcome Break owners would pay it a lot more attention - they appear to have deserted it!

I stopped at the west bound side on my way to Liverpool John Lennon airport. Although there are toilets there the actual restuarant is through a tunnel under the M62 to the east bound side. The staff were friendly and helpful.
