Tell us all about your experiences of this service area.
I am absolutely disappointed to learn that we were fined for having to stop on the services and enjoy the amazing facilities you have provided here. We stopped to use the bady change, but soon after we thought we should have Lunch, later our kid wanted to play in the play area - and we ended up staying longer and spending for afternoon snacks and tea. I guess we spent over£60 in 3 hrs. Had no clue of the parking charges and did not see any signs. Weather was bad on 31/12/2016. And now I see a letter suggesting a fine.
It's really sad to see that you are charging exhorbitant amount to actually the customers who bring you the business.
I would really appreciate if someone could help.
To make it worse, I have today got the first letter and it says I have been sent 2 letters before. Wonder if no one thought of using signed delivery for such things. Please help.

Feeling distressed. After a 8 hour night drive to visit family from Scotland, for safety we stopped off at your services to recharge our batteries, enjoyed a lovely hot cooked breakfast. Best facilities we'd come across on that holiday. Perfect for children and that's why we chose you. We spent a fortune for our family of 5 but absolutely worth it. Even bought hot drinks from the shop/costa machine on the way out. My partner managed a quick nap to recharge his batteries before we drove for another hour or 2 to Bournemouth. At 5:40 in the morning and after driving for 8 hours with 3 young children, neither of us noticed a time limit or even paid attention to the signs. We can't slept. We are absolutely gutted to being chased for a charge we don't feel reasonable especially after spending so much in your services. I'm so sorry we didn't pay attention to the signs and not being frequent travellers we had no idea we would be restricted. It would have been unsafe to continue driving without having a decent break. I just wish we realised. I'm hoping you can help.

I have just returned home on 28 September from holiday and found a letter in my German postbox informing me that, on 27 August, having stopped at the service area, exhausted after a 10 hour journey from Germany in my car with a trailer at 0215 and leaving at 0645, I have incurred a fine of 123.42 euros (currently £106). My son, who was with me, and I were unaware that such a period of rest would attract such a penalty, even though, if paid before 13 October, it would be reduced to £64. We stopped where we did because we saw a car and caravan stopped there and, probably because for most of the time we were unconscious, were unaware of any other vehicle being denied parking space because of our presence, hardly surprising at the time of our 'offence'. I note that several others have been fined for parking in violation of the rules but none between 0200 and 0700 which period is not one when parking space is at a premium. In any event, such a sum is unjustified and I find it remarkable that the fine is being pursued by an international concern: Euro Parking Collection plc of Unit 6, Shepperton House, London N1 3DF. I wonder how great a further penalty I am being charged for international involvement and what exchange premium is being levied to convert the Sterling fee to Euros. Moto appear to operate regardless of the reasons or the time of day when their parking limitations are breached.

Both my wife & myself are registered Disabled .We arrived parked in allotted disabled space great very close to the entrance having been traveling for about 2 hours desperate for the toilet .I move slowly with a stick The toilets not at a convenance [excuse the pun ] position just inside the door but the far end of the building then a labyrinth of corridors the finely the loo.By the time I got there it was too late I had wet myself . Shorey I am not the the only traveler that needs the toilet before they eat or shop.IT would have been better if the toilets were where M&S is & M&S where the toilets are. An additional outside toilet building with disabled parking would be the best solution .Pity you don't think travellers before profit.I had to walk back out through the building displaying very wet legs and shorts

I used these services on 7/8. I was alerted by another dog owner that two German Shepherds were in the back of an estate car with no windows open. I went over with a few very concerned people and found the doors were unlocked. It was a very hot day and they looked distressed so we opened the car doors as the dogs were secure in the back. I went into the services and had trouble finding someone to talk to. I found the manageress at Costa coffee and asked her to put out a call to the car owner. 10 minutes later no call was put out so I asked to speak to the services manager. When he arrived he said there was nothing he could do and there tannoy system was not working. He said it was nothing to do with him as the car park was run by another company and if I wanted to I could call the police. I decided to take matters into my own hands and went around the services asking that the person who left the dogs in the car with no windows open needed to return to the car or I would be calling the police. I then went back to the car where the dogs had been left when the owners had turned up. They had heard me call out in the services and when I asked why they had left the dogs they said they had a new born baby and was in a rush to sort out the baby. They had gone for about 30 minutes. If they had not forgot to lock the cars I would have broken the window.

I would tell everyone to avoid MOTO services at Cherwell having received the parking fine below ( previous post). On all the motorways there are signs saying dont drive tired. what it doesnt say is that you can only sleep for 2 hours or pay an exorbitant price or get an even steeper fine. Hardly encouragement to do the right thing. They have not seen fit to answer my first post, I am disgusted and will now actively avoid all MOTO run services on my many journeys around the country.

Driving down from Macclesfield to Bournemouth in the early hours of the 15th July 2016 having received a call that my mother was seriously ill I could no longer drive any further due to extreme tiredness and pulled into your services for a sandwich and coffee I then had about 2 hours sleep in the car before driving onwards. I did not notice any signs regarding the time limit and would have paid before leaving had I seen them. Unfortunately my mother passed away and I couldnt believe it when I received a parking fine for staying at your services for three hours. The drive down and result was traumatic enough without this rubbing salt in the wound. I would be very grateful if you could consider revoking this charge in the circumstancesmy notice reference number is 2000006197654 reg no KF05JXP date of notice 21/07/2016

I used your services yesterday with my 2 year old son. Unfortunately I lost my keys after using the baby changing facility and getting a drink. I searched for them and returned to my car. I asked in all the places i had been with the answer of no and then people continuing with their work. I appreciate their work ethic but a single woman with a little boy obviously distraught I would of hoped for a little more. I spoke to the man cleaning the toilet area who was really trying to help me but without being able to speak English finding it very hard. No staff around at all to help, no security desk or standard practice for if keys are handed in.
After 2 hours of waiting, looking and speaking to a very unhelpful rac I finally found someone who was willing to help me.
I would like to thank the man working in the phone accessories store - the only act of kindness on a very long day. He put his back in 5 minutes sign up and came to help me look. Luckily while he was closing up I managed to find the keys - they had been put down the toilet. So he didn't have to close and help me but I just wanted to pass on my gratitude and appreciation for the support he did offer me while everyone else just walked by.

Hi, I have been a regular user your service station for many years now. I was shocked to wake up to a letter from DRP plus Ltd requesting an immediate payment of £120??? I appreciate your comments below but I have been parking/spending money in your service station for many years. I would also add that because I've changed address I never received any notification of this fine. I would appreciate some assistance in this matter as £120 with a threat of further action is a serious issue for me.Thx.

Disappointed :-( Having moved from Derbyshire to Hampshire in 1998 we frequently use these services as it's an ideal half way point and I dread to think the money we've spent there over the years. I've been pleased to see the parent spaces increase in number from 2 but am frequently disappointed to find them used by disabled drivers - especially given the reasonable number of disabled spaces. Trying to juggle luggage to retrieve a pushchair and 2 children out of a large car in a normal space is almost impossible without damaging one of the cars either side. More recently we used it to meet my Dad in order to hand over our daughter for some sleepover time with Nana & Grandad. I was travelling alone with a 4 year old and 5 month old so these stops are never short affairs. On this occasion our journey had progressed remarkably well so we were early but traffic diversions on the A43 caused my folks to be much later than planned. All of these perfectly reasonable factors have led us to receive a £100 fine for staying too long. In all our uses none of my family ever recall seeing parking signs. Sorry Cherwell but I think we'll be looking to find an alternative meeting point.

I can't believe the sheer profiteering from such a car park sting as that operated at Cherwell Valley services. Although it is sated that signage is present I honestly did not see any nor was I aware, if I had I would have paid there and then. I pride myself in saying that I always pay for parking and have never before received any penalty. I now have the indignity of being charged £60/100 for an overstay by just over the hour. I wouldn't mind but I was there for a job interview, for which I was on time, but the interviewer was late due to bad traffic on the A34! I also paid for the overpriced coffee and lunch at one of their franchises. Really disappointed and cannot really afford the fine - not happy!
Dean Barron, Fri 19 Feb 2016
Careful of parking charges.I'm pretty new to using services stations on a regular basis. Unaware that they charge for extended stays. Spotted the signage on my way out of the car park and I didn't want to cause a hazard by stopping so I researched what the signage was when I got to my destination 9hrs later. I then learnt there was a £15 charge for anything over 2hrs. I thought this was an unreasonable amount for 3h29m parking but had no choice but to pay as I overstayed by 1h29m.
The only way I could find to pay online was by an automated phone system which I attempted but I couldn't seem to set up an account to pay so was unable to proceed with the required payment. I then rang every number I could find related to parking charges but nobody could help me or take a payment over the phone!
Therefore I have now received a parking fine of £60. Before I had even received the fine and trying to avoid a fine as I had intended on paying, I emailed the appeals email address the day after I couldn't proceed with payment to try and resolve the matter. To which I received a response 12 days later saying they would issue a fine and my appeal was over!
It now looks like it will have cost me at least £60 for a 3h29m stay at moto cherwell.
If I appeal through popla and lose I will then have to pay £100.
Moto have informed me they cannot do anything about this although they employ the parking company on there behalf.
Cant say I'm impressed....

Hi,I have just finished a long day at work, I drive a lot from the south to the north of England, and back home I have received a special present from Moto Cherwell, £100 fine for exceeding the free parking period! I am really disappointed, first time in my life!I have just started my third year in the UK, many miles everyday, and I think it is crazy to have a fine because you had a longer break, like that day when I have decided first to have a coffe at Costa and then a lunch with a client that was around there at that time, spent about £50.To be honest I was not aware of that and because in the area it is not issued a ticket when you enter it very hard to understand if you exceed or not the free parking time, especially if you are tired after a busy day or week!I am not happy about this service and I am not I will stop again in that service station and others belonging to Moto!I am sorry, time to sleep now, another busy day is coming.

Just visited here with my partner and two young children. The girls and I used the loos which are fairly clean although the water that comes out of the tap is too hot.We went on the "riverside walk" and sat in the picnic area for lunch. The river is more of a stream and it would be nice if there were a couple of benches a bit further away from the bins because the three benches there were quite waspy. Overall, a nice service station with good amenities.

Dear SirThank you for responding to my post and your offer of help, fortunately for me the matter has been dealt with by one of your colleagues at Moto and the charge has been cancelled , I would just like to add that we did not leave our vehicle at anytime during our stay and again did not notice the sign as we entered the service area perhaps a clearer design would be appropriate with clearer emphasis on a payment being required .Yours SincerelyIan Bayley

We recently stopped here whilst travelling on holiday we had travelled from merseyside we pulled into the service area at 03.05 as we were extremely tired to take a break we left at 06.10 and went on with our journey to Dover. Today I received a parking charge for £100 apparently exceeding the 2 hour free limit by 1 hour and 5 minutes we did not see any signage although I am sure it is hidden somewhere we were also tired it was dark etc. the car park was nearly empty when we arrived and just as empty when we left I find this charge excessive and disproportionate a kick in the face to road safety obviously MOTO and their parking company put profit before safety surely anyone with common sense could see we were only doing what road safety experts tell you to do we did not deprive Moto of any income due to our marginally small overstay we would have paid or even moved on had we seen your signs but we did not you need to make it clearer absolutely disgusted

Finding a dog-walk that is behind the Travelodge and not near the actual services does not help us find somewhere we can sit, drink and eat as a family, especially as my mother is disabled. Other service areas provide external seating areas that do not involve walking through a no-dog area. Why not Moto?

He should have walked a bit further and looked at the sign outside the Travelodge .There is a sign between the services and the lodge , it reads ..."dog and stream walk" easy to see and we don't even own a dog .Better luck next time.

I couldn't find a fresh drinking water tap to refill my water bottle. When driving in temperatures well over 30C (as it was yesterday) it is vital to stop regularly and drink plenty. Fortunately I was able to buy a drink (M&S was much more reasonable than WHSmith's misleading promotion), but free water should be supplied and clearly signposted as it is a matter of serious road safety to maintain driver attention, which can be significantly impaired by dehydration..
David Coote, Thu 2 Jul 2015
Can I just start by saying this is one of the best websites I have EVER stumbled across? It has stopped me in my tracks and made me question the very essence of human nature so thanks for that! But I digress. I recently went on a road trip to Manchester to see pop princess Taylor Swift sing well and dance badly and I had to make an unscheduled stop here because annoying small child clearly has a weak bladder. I'm delighted to inform you that there are toilets and a fair few of them and they are fit for purpose too so what more can you ask for? Actually some working hand dryers would be good - most of them seemed to be out of order. Never mind though - in the general scheme of things is having a bit of water on your hands really important? You can shake it off. (See what I did there?)
So, clean toilets equals big thumbs up. But (I'm frowning now) - Burger King was shut. Not that it bothered me as I would never eat such garbage anyway. But other people might quite like a Burger King and be cross. Especially as I couldn't see when it was due to open and there was a really ugly shutter in front of it. What's all that about? Wasted advertising space for one thing or you could paint a pretty picture on it! I've driven for miles, I want to see something that lifts my spirits!
Well, there was a cute blonde man working at Costa that helped on that score. But be aware people - there are two Costas and he's at the one tucked away in the corner NOT the one as you enter that had a ridiculously long queue because nobody had told those poor people about the second Costa tucked in the corner. I went out the wrong door at one point and ended up trapped in the outdoor Costa seating area so watch out for that. I styled it out though by looking as though I was considering sitting out there (I wasn't). Still, wasn't as embarrassing as forgetting my name in Starbucks at the services on the way back but that is for a whole other review.
Randomly, in this services there is a Cotton Traders so, if you are off to a family occasion, and realise that you've forgotten to buy a birthday present for your brother-in-law who you really can't stand - do not fear! Pop in! They have polo shirts in every colour.
To summarise, it's a perfectly adequate service station and it's clean and I pretty sure that everyone that works there is fab. Crisps are overpriced though. Over a £1 for a bag of Walkers? I don't think so! Forward planning people - take your own from Tesco!
Kerry Jaffa, Wed 1 Jul 2015
My husband and I visited with a dog and disabled relative just 4 days ago. My husband walked right round the car park but did not find a dog-walk. If there is one,it should be specifically signed as a dog walk. However, if the only external seating for people with dogs is right behind the building, then this is totally useless for the disabled (not all dogs belonging to elderly or disabled people are "assistance dogs". I did phone the duty manager on the day but found her less than helpful. I will not be using Moto again. You are obviously only interested in getting people inside to spend their money.
Sue, Thu 11 Jun 2015
Dear Mr. Heryet,The Highways agency have been conducting substantial alterations to the roundabout outside the site over recent months. These have finally been completed. You can access the M40 in both directions from the site as well as the A43 and Ardley. Now that the works are finished the signage is much clearer than when you visited.
General Manager, Wed 10 Jun 2015
I made the mistake of putting a coach stop in here some weeks ago and have just stopped as a car driver. Both experiences were awful - everyone deserves a second chance but not three or four. Particularly avoid the m&s unless you want rudeness and attitude.
steve, Thu 28 May 2015
Although the services are very good and to be recommended to caravaners at the moment if you visit the services and want to go in any direction other than south when leaving, you have got a ten mile round trip to get back and continue in any other direction. Unless your want to waste ten miles travelling the services should be avoided. There is no indication of this and once in the services you have no where else to go but SOUTH

Visited this ss 18.4.15. shocked, compared to many other ss's we visit to find no benches/seating at all outside the complex. We have an elderly dog and do not expect to be able to bring him into the building complex but not to be able to sit outside at all is pretty poor. It's not just dog owners either. Surely many people would appreciate being able to sit down outside. Perhaps Moto is only interested in people going inside, to spend money. 25.4.15 on return journey tried the other Moto, further north - same there as well, inadequate outside facilities. Creates an unwelcoming atmosphere. Thinking of avoiding all Moto's in future

Dear General Manager, I have just received in the post a charge notice in respect of exceeding a 2 hour FREE parking period which I'm absolutely mortified about. I would never knowingly depart from anywhere without paying for parking. I can only assume that the parking meters were nowhere near where I parked. I purchased 2 coffees and met a prospective client in this area - again I saw no signage inside to say about paying for parking in the area where I sat or where I parked my car near Greggs. I have been onto your website today and looked at imagery..again all I can see is a sign relating to 'PAY BY PHONE' it doesn't say car parking and I wonder if this is why it is being missed. I see below many complaints by other motorists who too have fallen victim to this. I honestly don't believe there is adequate warning or appropriate signage to explain to motorists the situation. On my part this is a genuine oversight and I appeal to your sense of humanity to overturn this.

Visit these services a lot and like them as they have a nice feel - more shopping mall than dingy services! The dog walking area behind the main building is expansive and actually a pleasant place to take the pooch for a walk.

My car broke down late at night on Wednesday 21st January 2015. I managed to pull off the motorway and get my car to the petrol station forecourt at Cherwell Valley Services. I was a lone female driver with little mechanical knowledge and, by the time I reached the station forecourt, was quite stressed following my car suddenly losing power in the fast lane of the motorway.
There were two ladies on duty in the petrol station. I cannot praise their actions highly enough. They came to my aid in helping me to examine the car and were clearly concerned for my safety and well-being. They allowed me to wait in the warm whilst I awaited roadside recovery. It is unusual, in this day and age, to receive such a warm and friendly service and I thank them highly for their kind assistance.

I used the service station earlier today, however due to extreme weather conditions i was having problems starting my car after spend money at the sevicesr. My teenage daughter recently bought a packet of 16 Always Ultra at Boots at the Cherwell Valley Services on Saturday 11th October for which she was charged £3.85. This seems very expensive. In Tesco they were only £1.00. Even in boots they were only £2.09 or £3.85 for a double packet. Also she then lost £5.00 of her change possibly in the shop.

My husband and I are regular visitors to Costa at home and away. We have never seen such an industrious team, and Win was an excellent manager of the the team, prepared to sweep floors, clean tables etc as well as keeping his `finger on the pulse` of all sections of this outlet. The staff were very pleasant, special Cristina who shows be the one encouraging the team and keep the happy envoiroment and helped to relieve (the) our tedious journey in continuous rain. We hope the team continuous to build on its success, and that they receive acknowledgement for their hard work.

Beware of the thug that masquerades as a parking attendant at these services. We chose to stop off,my wife being disabled. We displayed the disc he promptly appeared just watching us struggle,he then questioned the validity of the disc.Noting that his identity badge was turned round i enquired as to his name,he told me to F... off.Well done Moto for employing this thug.We certainly will not be back. The irony about this incident is that my uncle owns a very large coach holiday company which makes this services a stop on way to southampton with cruise ship holidays,i will be informing him of this episode.I think he will reconsider if stopping off at this services is a good idea after all.Has anyone else had dealing with this individual. His description is about 5.8 rather rotund an untidy moustache and generally unkempt appearance.Look forward to your comments.

I've checked the lost property and unfortunately neither your bag or your bible have been handed in.For future reference should you require it the Duty Manager Contact number for Cherwell Valley is: 07771 794671.

Dear LH,As you state in your comment I have previously stated that Moto's parking policy is clearly signposted at over 20 places across the site - including signage at the entrance to the site and in the customer toilets. The policy has been in place at most Motorway Service Operators for several years now and indeed many Supermarkets have similar schemes. However if you send me the details of the charge incurred at Cherwell Valley I am happy to help:

What a rip off!£100 parking fine for a stop of just over 2 hours in a dull, mediocre and over-priced facility.Allegedly there are "20 signs" around the place telling you of this parking policy (according to manager's comments below) but I genuinely did not see any signs (not that one expects to pay to park at a service station). I am absolutely furious to receive the fine notice today. I think this is a deliberate and cynical extortion attempt. Moto should be ashamed of themselves. They have certainly lost my custom for ever and I am sure will lose the custom of many others if they carry on in this unreasonable and money-grabbing way.

I stopped at the Service station that is at the junction of the M40 and road to Silverstone - ? Cherwell Valley on Monday 11th August 2014. Do you have a lost property office I could contact please? I have mislaid a robust Sainsbury's bag. It contains my bible which was a present from my late husband Derek, so has considerable sentimental value. It also has my phone charger in it and several pieces of paper relating to Burpham war memorial project. Thanks
I may have left the bag either in the loo or more likely the café where I had a coffee. I then went to M&S and bought some milk. I would really appreciate it if you could let me know if It has been found. Thank you

When I stopped at Cherwell Services on Sunday 13th June, I dropped my phone in the car park. The back fell off but I put it together again and it seemed to be working so I thought no more. Only when I got home did I realise that my microSD card had fallen out.
Did anyone find a micro-SD card there? Are there contact details for the lost property office at Cherwell Services?
John G, Wed 30 Jul 2014
Probably the busiest services I've stopped at! However asfter my initial concerns about the number of people in the building I was pleasantly surprised that I was served quickly and pleasantly in the Upper Crust. It was a nice change from the usual service area fare - why aren't there more of these!?

At Sunday the 15th of june we ( the Belgian Navy Association) arrived from Alrewas from the national celebration at the national Arboretum. Somebody in our coach got ill and we had need urgently to make a stop at Cherwell Valley Services M40. Our member needed a doctor and an ambulance and the manager of Cherwell Valley arranged it all for us. She stayed even all the time ( more than an hour ) with us AND offerd us FREE coffee and thea. Many, many thanks on behalf of the Belgian Navy Association.

We have used these services for a number of years on our regular trips down to Portsmouth Ferry port . We head for these services as its the first stop after a 5 hr drive for us and the halfway point(family of 5). I was disgusted when a letter arrived this morning from CP demanding £100 or a reduced fee of £50 if paid within 14 day's. I see previous posts relating to signage being erected around site , after a 5 hr drive and locating the correct place to park, its not something that jumps out at you when maneuvering and trying to park a motorhome and trailer with an overall length of approx 50'.We didn't see any signage relating to the "Charge" ,its outrageous after spending around £200,probably more,(£16 for 5 Costa Coffee's alone)between 5 people,on meals , extra drinks ,"supplies" etc (during our stay) to receive a parking charge of £100/£50.Obviously, if we had seen the signs payment would have been made for the duration of our "stay" ,absolutely disgusting avoid these services from now on, quick money spinner is this for the unaware !Not very good customer PR.

After a recent visit to your site, I've lost a set of car keys. It only came to light that I'd lost the keys a few days after visiting. Is it possible to check with the duty manager if any keys have been handed in. We stopped off at the services on the 12th May 2014. Any help on this matter would be greatly received.

I visited Cherwell Valley when my coach stoppedTo my horror, all the time was taken by my walking from the coac h to the toilets - I am a serverely disabled walker and all my time at the services was taken up the walk
I did not have time to buy any food which was the primary eason to stop between Manchester and Southapton
I complained at the time to the duty manager that an opening was blocked and he made no mention of the available wheelchair service (which apparently is prominently displayed at the entrance)
I have further complained to Tim Moss (CEO) and the general response seems to be 'tough'. They have offered top meet me (and presumably others) with a wheelchair at the coach if I notify them prior to arrival.
Most coach passengers have no knowledge of where the coach will stop so mostly this will not happen
I got our coach to visit an alternative service station on the return
Cherwell Valley is a shining example of a clean and spacious motorway stop. But as the prime reason for stopping is to eat and toilet, and the prime reason for retailers is that maximum money is spent it seems sad that the services do not offer this
Judging by the comments here it seems a lot of others see a conflict between staying long enough to spend a lot and high car parking charges. Judging by the position of the car parks and the coach park there seems a clear discrimination against coach travellers - though as they Cherwell is a major stopping place en route to cruises I would have thought Cherwell would have maximised the opportuniuty to spend rather than a long walk in exposed conditions of which I heard many grumbles.

Yet another disgusted customer. My brothers and I met up at the services as it is a central point for us all- I live in Wokingham, one brother in London and the other in Wolverhampton. It is not the first time we have met here and have used your facilities on countless occasions over the years.Well well just received a noteice from CP plus for parking for longer than the two hours. Which is a shock and surprise given that we spent a lot of money on food and refreshments over that time. Again it would be rather foolish had we realised that we needed to pay for parking which we clearly would have done. I appreciate that there are signs up as you will point out. Foolish us for not reading them or understand that the services are a honey trap. What reason would we have for staying at the services other than use the facilities? Do you think we would park up and go for a stroll along the motorway. You have a great way of alienating customers. I really trust that you will be able to sort this out. J Gama
Dr Joubert Gama, Wed 14 May 2014
I recently used these services for a business lunch meeting and thought that it was a great place to meet with all the facilities, and was central for my business colleagues and I to meet up. However, this has now been ruined by a PCN for £100 for parking for 2hrs 50mins. I'm absolutely outraged at this charge as we spent plenty of money during the visit on coffees and lunch and did not see any signs or notices alerting us to the parking restrictions and charges. We will be looking for an alternative meeting place in future.

Shocked and upset. Drivers beware!
We used the services as a meeting point for friends as we live in different parts of the country. Spent a lot of money on Costa coffees and cakes. Plus bought a tray of Krispy Kremes. Spent 4 hours at the services and found that the place was great for meeting up, clean, tidy with pleasant staff. Imagine our frustration and disappointment when we all receive £50 parking fines or £100 if not paid in 2 weeks. I was completely unaware of the 2 hour signs that were in the car park. I understand the need to deter people that obuse the car park but am very upset that you are penalising your genuine customers. Your genuine customers need to be made more aware as they go into the building, either by staff at the till or by reminder announcements. Seems very unfair and under hand. Extremely disappointed and feel we've been taken advantage of.
Jon Zadel, Sat 3 May 2014
Staff very helpful and friendly. Excellent shops and service.Very good for families and very conditions for disables. Thank you for your work.

I use these service nus quite often to get my coffee in the morning, but today I realise something diferente soon I was walk in I listen one voice at Costa entrance saying `hello! Good Morning! How are you today!?' And let me tell you the feeling I get was like someone was happy to see me and I asked what is all about and she said is new thing about customer service! These services get in better and better! I want to thank you all for be so friendly!
adrian klarkson, Wed 16 Apr 2014
I raised the parking fine with the general manager who accepted that I was a genuine customer (which was why I was so upset at receiving the fine in the first place). I had a prompt response from MOTO and the matter was resolved, much to my relief.
This incident has highlighted the need to check for parking charges and signage at venues you wouldn't expect, but look forward to using MOTO facilities again now the issue has been resolved.
Liz Reed, Mon 14 Apr 2014
The place was busy but organised. The Costa is always good here and Cristina was very helpful.

Used these services on Monday morning for the past few weeks whilst travelling to Heathrow, at 5.00 pm. The toilets were clean. My only grouse was White Van Men parked right outside the doors, so much that my last visit (Monday 24 March) a line of 4 white vans were blocking the road right next to the entrance.

Be very very careful about using this service station. I arranged to meet a client at the service station on 18th March and arrived slightly early around 12:30. We concluded our meeting and in the process I purchased 3 cups of coffee, two sandwiches and two cups of tea from Costa. Bill was in the region of £15.The service station was very clean, plenty of space and perfect for a meeting since we both travelling up and down the M40.Yesterday 3rd April I received a letter stating I had failed to purchase a parking ticket and was to pay £100 penalty fine.I am amazed. I think I spent just over 3 hours at the service station spending money using the facilities. I don't know who might want to use it as a car park, it certainly seems to be convenient to get to from the M40, I am just not sure where you could walk to once you have parked your car. This feels like a compete con and I warn anyone out there head to Oxford or Bisceter instead. It's only a few miles down the road.My letter contained a picture of a sign warning me that I needed to buy a ticket. It also said it was signposted inside the service station. I have to confess I didn't see them.Watch out and be very careful you apparently only get 2 hours!
Jamie Whatley, Fri 4 Apr 2014
Beware - Don't go to Cherwell Valley Moto Services at J10 on the M40 without realising that you can only stay 2 hours - if you go over that time some rip off private parking company that Moto seems to be using photographs the car and send you a bill for £100.
Rather than going back home and out again, I went into Cherwell Valley services in between meetings to get lunch and some other bits and pieces. I was there 3 hrs and did what I assume is exactly what Moto wanted you to do and spent money. I was completely unaware of any time limit and, because I wasn't looking for, or expecting to be charged to park, did not notice signs I am now expected to have read and understood about parking.
Having spent £11.80 in Marks and Spencer, £2.15 at Costa Coffee, £7 for two extortionately priced birthday cards at the news agent and finally £40 on oil at the garage on my way out, they now have the audacity to send me a £100 parking notice charge.
Whilst I can understand Moto wanting to charge people who abuse the parking, they are clearly happy to abuse genuine customers who come into their service stations and unwittingly get caught by there dubious parking limits.
Marks and Spencer, Costa Coffee and other reputable companies need to start making Moto re-think this shoddy tactic before it starts affecting them.
Shame on Moto for setting up and allowing this nasty practice to continue!
I for one will no longer be spending my money with Moto!

Don't GO - you'll end up paying for it!!!
I am absolutely disgusted with the Moto Services for their unfair parking policy obviously aimed at ripping off their customers.
I stopped at the services, enjoying facilities for 2 hours 50 minutes. No where did I see any parking signs stating a minimum stay, they must be well hidden. I had a shock today when I received a letter telling me I have been fined £100 for staying over the 2 hour free parking limit? What limit? I didn't know there was one! If it had been made clear that you have to pay for parking over 2 hours, of course I would of done.
Instead I have to pay Moto Services £100 (essentially £2 per minute) for the privilege of buying their products and spending 50 minutes too long being their customer.
I suggest you make your signage and parking policy clear to your customers in future.
Liz Reed, Fri 21 Mar 2014
I stop here regularly and never have any problems. It always seems clean and organised and I really like the open & bright feel to the place - a welcome change to some of the dark dungeons you encounter on the motorway!
Pamela, Thu 13 Mar 2014
DRIVERS BEWARE - received letter today threating court action related to a non-payment of PCN received 24th Nov (now £150, as they sent the notification over xmas week, giving me 2 days to pay lower fee so i contested it!!!).I stayed 50 mins over the ridculous 2 hr limit and, as other peole have alluded to, the signs regarding parking are very cleverly made and positioned, meaning they can so easily go unoticed to members of the public.I just dont get how they see this kind of operation being attractive or fair to genuine customers! I could even show receipts to prove how much we spent and ate at the service station that day!!Thanks for the experience Cherwell Valley.

Dear Mrs. Kozam,
Following your comments a thorough review of the children's section has taken place;1) The Baby Feeding Station has been relocated2) The bottle warmer & microwave are both working3) The bus ride has been removed and replaced with a new 'Bob the Builder' ride
Thank-you for the feedback.

Carlos, Tue 14 Jan 2014
Although I think that these Services provide good facilities overall for families with children, there are a number of improvements that could be made:
1. Why are there only 2 parent and baby/toddler parking spaces for the entire carpark? Most supermarkets provide more than this, so surely a motorway services as large as Cherwell Valley, used by thousands of families each week especially in the summer, can do better than a miserable 2 bays.
2. Why is it taking so long to provide a replacement microwave for the broken one in the table eating area? Parents should not have to carry dishes of hot water, obtained from the EDC counter, in order to warm up a baby's bottle and food.
3. Why has the children's play bus not been repaired/sorted out. I have seen numerous parents put money into this machine in order to give a child a ride, only for nothing to happen! I suspect that the sign stating 30p per ride is out of date so somebody is collecting all this money under false pretences. It has been like this for over 12 months.
4. I consider that the penalty imposed for overstay in the carpark is outrageous and totally out of proportion to the 'offence'. 2 hours goes nowhere when a family is meeting up and there are children to feed and babies to change. A 3 hour stay would be more reasonable.
These comments relate to a visit I made on 5th January 2014 at 1pm.
Norma Kozam, Sun 5 Jan 2014
I regularly stop at service stations on long trips with my dog, and was delighted to discover that these services had a really good area for exercising the dog, well away from the car park and general services. I was however very surprised to discover both a very high tariff for staying beyond two hours - I only discovered this after receiving a fine - and a hefty fine for missing this fact. It would be useful if some of the parking and fine money was invested in more visible parking information. I must admit, I am not used to paying for parking at service stations, so wasn't looking for the details, but you would think that for £12 parking and £90 fines there would be a little more help in assisting customers in avoiding these extortionate penalties. I won't be returning to discover whether things improve in this department.

Tuesday 29 October coming in from the car park we walked on the pavement to the centre my sister had a bad fall she suffers from parkinsons disease and does not have the best balance she stepped on a very loose paving slab that not one of us could have seen I am very angry as we had 2 disabled people in our party and both have walking disabilities and there is no one inside to report the problem to therefore this will take time for someone to actually fix the problem and maybe someone else ending up hurt

I loved the diabled facilities at this services station amazing. I have been saying for years that hotels , public body buildings should all have the facilities that Cherwell services have , fab.It made our stop a lot easier, my daughter is 7 and we used the toilet facilities to change her nappy wow
Sheona, Mon 30 Sep 2013
Stop here a lot, largely due to the nice riverside walk and picnic area. As a dog owner this nice space is a real life saver! I think the previous comment can't have found it - it's got a sign near the post box and is the access path is between the travelodge and main building.
Fran, Mon 2 Sep 2013
I visited Moto Cherwell Valley services with my family, not so long ago, and I just wanted to express what excellent service I received from both Edc and Uppercrust. The staff were very friendly and interactive from start to finish. I would also like to comment on the condition of the site, that it is very clean and useful for customers who have children and pets, like myself, as these services offer a fantastic dog walk area with benches and it offers two types of kids areas indoor and outdoor. So i manage to eat my food outside whilst my dog was off the lead exploring the land available and then able to allow my kids to play for a while before gettin back into the car.I was very happy that we stopped off at this junction and I will be definitely returning!
Molly Davies, Wed 21 Aug 2013
Visited your services on the way down to Sussex. As we had a dog with us we needed to sit outside to eat. Very disappointed as there were no benches/picnic tables available. The only outside area was enclosed by barriers, we were advised that our dog could sit there with us but as he is a big Labrador there was no way I could to lift him over the barriers. Please make more outside benches available as people travelling with pets do not always want to sit in their cars to eat!!! Also it would be nice to sit outside and take advantage of any nice weather that we have (not too often) in England.
C Farr, Mon 12 Aug 2013
We stopped here to get breakfast and i can't believe how expensive this place is. There was five of us in total, one person had a full breakfast, the kids had a bacon bap and two had beans on toast. We were advised that the cost for this is £45.00!!!. Even if we all had a full breakfast it would have cost less than this. Neadless to say we walked away as the cost for this food was stupid. I really think you need to amend your prices and train your staff who spoke to us in a rude manner.
Thank god that you have greggs on site where the cost of the food is more reasonable.
Lisa Daniel, Thu 27 Jun 2013
I thought this was a lovely place to stop. A good range of shops and cafe's and despite what the last chap said I like the outside seating area being closed - this meant that I could let my children run around and play without worrying about them going on to the road - thus I could enjoy my coffee and recharge!
Christine, Thu 20 Jun 2013
This is the best worst services I have been too. Firstly it is a huge way away from the motorway. You have to drive down a road, round a roundabout, round a roundabout and then finally you make it into the car park. The car park is well designed as most spaces for cars are near the actual services. Unfortunately if you are desperate for a pee there is a long walk through past the Costas, Burger King, Cotton Traders and finally you make it to the toilets. But wait! There is an even further walk to the actual men's toilets back in the direction you just came. The toilets are okay and have the round communal sinks that services seem to favour. Its a shame as there is a Costa, Burger King and restaurant. There are also shops such as M&S, Whsmith and Cotton Traders. The Greggs that has just opened is a separate building on the far side of the services. There is a nice outside area to sit (although once you are in the outside seating pen the only way out is to walk the entire length of the building or vault the fence). There is also various green areas to sit. Its a nice services but has not been designed by anyone who has ever used a motorway services in their entire life. You virtually have to walk the entire length of the building to get to the toilets and then the crazy outside seating pen which you can not escape.
James Graham, Mon 3 Jun 2013
Great to see a Greggs here. This is one of the better places to stop anyway but the addition of a Greggs is very welcome. The prices seem to be the same as the high st. which is a change for these places - but a welcome one!!!
Clarindo, Wed 22 May 2013
A nice place to stop. The woodland/field was a nice place to walk Bruno (our dog)in the sunshine & it was great to find a Greggs there - finally sensible prices on the motorway!
Jana, Mon 6 May 2013
Had a major criticism today with one outlet (Eat and Drink I think it's called) which had pretty much run out of any hot food by 3 o'clock. Wouldn't mind too much, but the staff also went AWOL. We were left standing with a tray of sandwiches and drinks but with nobody to pay. The temptation to just go and sit down with them without paying was high. Instead we stood at the till for around 5 minutes and then left them there and went to M&S. We sat with our sandwiches, watching the tray, and it was still by the unstaffed till half an hour later. We're in a recession and I was standing there wanting to spend over £20... unbelievable. OK, rant over!
Normally this wouldn't bother me too much, but it's the only vaguely healthy hot-food option available. Also the only one apart from Burger King that seems to cater for toddlers.
Apart from this annoyance, Cherwell really is a tidy, pleasant service area, with good seating, good parking, decent toilets and a variety of shops. Just wouldn't bank on giving the kids anything hot and healthy after 3 o'clock.

The only decent motorway area in the UK. I have no idea why the staff here are so friendly, but this is a superb place to stop.

Sorry to hear of your experience with the doors. There is a 'push-button normal'door next to the main revolving doors, you could use this when the main doors are revolving. Also the doors have now been switched to a slide function until next winter.
Thanks for your feedback
I was upset to find you have installed new revolving doors on your main entrance. I suffer from claustrophobia and I found I couldn't even enter the doors. Is there another way to enter the building to avoid these doors. There was no one around to find out if there was, this just added to the problem. The whole event caused me a great deal of distress along with a panic attack, We ended up using Oxford service station instead.

I came down to the services for the first time last saturday and it was a lovely break for me and the kids. All the baguettes in Uppercrust looked lovely, if only I was hungry enough to have more than one!
I was served by two charming young lads who worked well together to serve us and seemed like they enjoyed working there. Although the latte I bought was slightly tepid, the young man who served me sorted it and was very kind and apologetic about it all.
I will happily stop here again.

Good stop, nice placeand friendly staff! The baby change rooms had plenty of space which was a pleasant change not to have a dirty pull down unit in a disabled toilet like most places! Will stop here again!

After a terrible journey down the m40 it was nice to pull into the relative calm of these services. The car park was being cleared and the staff were friendly despite some of them telling me that they would have to stop the night at the services due to the snow.

I visited this service station just before Christmas to meet up with a friend on a very important matter . We went into the services , visited a couple of the shops and then had coffee and without realising it , we overstayed our 2 hours in the carpark ( even though neither of us had seen the signs as we drove in late evening ) . I have now received a letter fining me £50 for the overstay which I feel is very unfair , particularly as these seem to be done on a random basis as the person I had met there hasn't received one and they were actually on site longer than I was ! I wrote to discuss the matter with CP Plus ,, only then to receive what I consider to be a very rude email in return . This could have been an ideal place for us to meet in future as it is well located for us , but I can now say we will never use it again !!!

Christine, Thu 3 Jan 2013
Stopped off at Cherwell Valley with my boy for a much needed break. Anna was very helpful, above giving good service in the costa she got a high chair and carried my drink to a table - invaluable help to a mum travelling on her own with an active toddler!

I received a threatening letter from a bailiff company demanding £155 for non payment of a parking contravention from CP Plus today. The original alleged contravention was in June!
I was only on site for half about 40 minutes
I never recieved the original PCN or a reminder just a bailiffs letter.
Won't be stopping off at this service area again
Arval Alpheus, Tue 4 Dec 2012
I have never been to this site but am being harassed into paying a £140 parking fine for overstaying in the middle of the night. Also been threatened with debt collectors and legal action pending. My protestations to Cp-plus the despicable car parking company who operate on this site amount to nothing. Would never use Moto as a result.ref No 0448120925002.
N Moore, Tue 27 Nov 2012
Thought the building was nice and open - a nice place to stop. Food was the usual branded stuff you find everywhere, which if not inspirational definately did the job. Definately the best stop available on my M40commute!
Peter, Sat 10 Nov 2012
Parked my car yesterday and paid £10 for the day as requested. Interesting as this site quotes £8 per day for cars!
Teresa Lohman, Fri 9 Nov 2012
stopped here last week and was pleasantly surprised. It was tidy and the staff were actually friendly!!! I mustsay a big thank you to Maria who returned my wallet to me when I left it behind- a real life saver!!

I regularly travel to Redditch for weekend workshops, as Cherwell Valley is half way along my journey I always stop here - sometimes twice per day. However, today I have received a 'charge notice' from 'CP Plus' providing photos of me entering the site and allegedly leaving 15 hours later. Strange that they didn't notice the 4 other occasions that weekend when I entered/left the services (in and out on the Saturday morning, out on the Saturday night, in on the Sunday morning and in and out again on Sunday afternoon)- what do they think I did for 15 hours overnight on a Saturday, have a rave in WH Smiths?
The most annoying fact is that it has taken them 15 days to tell me about it but they are only offering me 28 days to pay up or 9 days in order to 'accept the reduced amount'
The result of this is that I shall never use a Moto service station more than once in a day or on consecutive days ever again - the independent service stations can have my service instead.
Brina, Wed 10 Oct 2012
Very busy but seemed organised. The M&S- Costa combo works for me - you know what you're getting and the price isn't too bad. Jamie was helpful in the costa and carried my drinks to the table for me as I was wrestling with bags and children - the small things do make a difference!
Edson, Tue 9 Oct 2012
Paul, Moto's parking policy is clearly signposted across the site - however if you send me the details of the charge incurred at Cherwell Valley I am happy to help:
General Manager, Tue 9 Oct 2012
Not impressed with the rip off parking policy. Stopped in July to take a break and make use of the food and free wifi. Overstayed my parking and now today (1st Oct ) received a £50 fine which has already been escalated to £90. I know I have done this at least once more since as it was a convenient place to stop and do some work travelling back. So I am just waiting for the next fines to arrive.
Won't be stopping there again.
Paul, Mon 1 Oct 2012
Nice place. Lots of costas and liked the cotton traders
amy, Thu 13 Sep 2012
The service area is a bit of a drive off the motorway when travelling southbound. When you park you have to walk to the left hand end of the services to get in the door, then walk to the toilets at the other end. So not great for those who just want a quick toilet stop straight off the motorway (like me).
When you try to go back to your car through one of the other doors leading outside, you find you are trapped in Costa's outdoor seating area - there are no gates in the fence other than "for emergency purposes", so we had to trek back round to the single door at the left hand end again.....
A traveller, Sun 9 Sep 2012
Sorry to hear of your problems trying to pay for parking by phone - I have taken up your comments with the parking company. You can also pay for parking in both WHSmith & EDC which are both open 24hours. Should you recieve a ticket or get any further problems please write to me at the address on the comment below and I'll resolve the issue.
General Manager, Fri 31 Aug 2012
Hiya, I parked her on Thursday 16th August. I knew I would be more than 2 hours so attempted to pay for parking via phone method. Called once to register card. Then called again to pay - payment failed. Tried twice more and both times failed. Then called helpline and left voicemail - no one called me back. I'm happy to pay for parking retrospectively but been told this is not possible, even though the call centre do have records of my calls (I've checked with them). What can I do? I KNOW that there will be a parking fine letter arriving soon!
As an asside, the whole pay by phone is a right old faf, would be easier to have at least one machine on site?
Liz, Wed 22 Aug 2012
Nice to see a place with organised and marshalled car parks. Enjoyed a great picnic on the rather grandly named riverside walk (more of a stream than a river - but pleasant all the same) nice stop!
robert, Fri 10 Aug 2012
In spite of the British Parking Association Code of Practice clearly stating that operators must ensure it doesn't happen, CP Plus parking have goofed again!! My car was photographed going in to park and going out again 12hr 46mins later. Result a £90 fine. Seems they are not interested in the other two photos showing me leaving to spend the day at Silverstone and popping in again on my way home. Why don't you get an operator that keeps to the rules and doesn't threaten your regular clents without checking the facts.
Gerry, Thu 19 Jul 2012
Nice building, clean and good range of shops. Not cheap but these places never are. Got a decent coffee fairly quickly in costa and the kids were happy in the play area. Nice to see fairtrade products being promoted.

Yes you can use the App at any Moto site - the deals change daily.
Does anyone know if you can use the Moto Daily Deals's App at all sites? Got a nice suprise this morning when I got 20% off in Costa!! Downloaded App & showed the screen.
Tina, Tue 10 Jul 2012
I am businessman who uses Moto and other service areas to meet colleagues and clients having fell foul of Moto Cherwell Valley parking i will never use any of their venues again - and will encourage anyone doing so to look elsewhere for a break etc -remember if you happen to fall asleep for more than 2 hrs in your car it will cost you £80 and you wont know until the automatically generated bill hits your mail. USE SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Nice place! Very busy but plenty of staff on. I had a costa and sat outside. My only real gripewould be that the air con didn't seem to be too good, apart from that it was definately better than most!
adela, Tue 3 Jul 2012
Enjoyed a sunny stop in the outside seating area. These places are never cheap but I managed to get a sandwich, drink & some sushi for under a fiver in M&S. So all in all not a bad place to stop

Visited on Sunday - very busy! However it was easy and quick to be served and the toilets were clean so the missus was happy! The outside cornish pasty shop is a good idea if a bit pricey. Overall better than most.
Roy, Wed 18 Apr 2012
All motorway services without exception are ripping their customers off. All food is very over priced and you get pitiful portions. The excuse they use is its expensive and difficult to get their delivers to the service area! You're on the motorway network in my opinion and many off my peers you should all be prosecuted for extortion and price fixing. We truck drivers have virtually nowhere else to park overnight and pay up to £30 a night to take our legal break. This needs to be rectified and soon.

I stopped at Cherwell Valley in December, and 3 months later received a fine of £80 for parking there for in excess of 2 hours. Oddly, I was already in London at the time they claim I left the services.Cherwell Valley Services are dishonest and greedy. But worse than this, a quick google shows other cases of innocent motorists stopping for a sleep to break a long drive and being fined for parking more than 2 hours, including a Daily Mail journalist. This clearly flies in the face of the frequent signs on the motorway that say "take a break, tiredness kills". Falling asleep at the wheel is one of the main causes of deaths on the motorway.I'm outrage and disgusted. In future I will avoid Cherwell Valley, and strongly recommend others to do so.
andrew catlin, Sun 11 Mar 2012
i would recommend it to everyone although i work for ac jacklin there was a queue as theres been a accident on the A34 i loved the edc and the m and s thanks cherwell
luke, Sat 7 Jan 2012
Nice services, busy but served quickly. We ate in the Burger King which was standard fayre for these sort of places, but it was quick and hot if a bit pricey. The baby change facilities were good and the indoor play area gave us a welcome respite on our journey.
Lucy, Sun 1 Jan 2012
Although the coffee was expensive in the restaurant the food was reasonably priced, hot and served quickly.
Mariano, Tue 13 Dec 2011
Stopped at Cherwell Valley with my family today and was pleasantly surprised. Normally we avoid service areas due to high prices and poor service, however today our children dictated a stop at Cherwell Valley. Although not cheap we were able to eat from M&S at a reasonable price & were served quickly at one of the numerous costa coffee points. Cristina was particularly helpful carrying things for us and went someway to restoring faith in service areas.
Mike Lee, Mon 5 Dec 2011
Pleasant stop. Like the new layout and the Upper Crust is a welcome addition to the old set up. Particularly liked the baby change facilities and new outside playground.
Vicky, Mon 28 Nov 2011
I usually stop at Cherwell due to its location. I stopped there on Friday and was impressed by the cleanliness and that despite it being busy I got my BK quite quickly. All this services is missing is a KFC! Anyone know if they are likely to get one?
Gleison, Sun 30 Oct 2011
The services at Cherwell Valley offered a welcome break on a long journey. The staff were all polite and the service swift and efficient. Will definitely stop by again.
Sonja Golding, Sat 8 Oct 2011
One of the few non McDonalds service areas that I visit. Its probabbly always been one of Moto's best service areas, even the first temporary service area building was clean, the second, see photo's was amazing considering it was temporary and the new building even better. Its a new design which leads us from the entrance on the left, past costa first of all( just like Watford gaps refit does... is this costa designing ?) past various outlets to the toilets. All very modern very clean. Wash basins catch people out, they're press taps arranged around the centre of one big basin. I noticed everyone putting their hands under expecting water to flow automatically.Seems moto have decided sensor taps are more trouble than they're worth. We'll see how long these sinks last here, they didn't last long at Donnington park before being replaced with traditional rows of sinks and taps. Downsides are north bound access is long winded having to come off, go over the bridge and around roundabouts. Worth it though in my opinion. Cash points that charge. Expensive food, why is Burger King so much more expensive than on the high street, they do themselves no favours.
Jozef Nakielski, Thu 29 Sep 2011
First time I've visited this place since it burnt down and must say that it's a great improvement on the old one. As a cleaning professional I was interested to see Ghostbuster style back pack vacuums being used to great effect - keeping the seating area clean and tidy.
Chris Black, Tue 6 Sep 2011
Visited Cherwell Valley yesterday and I must say what an improvement! Unlike most services I stop at this one was light, open and despite being busy had plenty of staff on. The Upper Crust is a welcome addition as I don't like the normal fast food/greasy spoon offerings, which seem to be the core of any motorway stop. It was helpful that as well as two baby change rooms there were also additional pull down change units in the ladies toilets which meant I didn't have to endure the normal queuing for changing facilities on a summer weekend. Surely this is a cheap solution to a reoccuring problem that could be employed elsewhere?
Amanda, Mon 29 Aug 2011
I visited the newley revamped Cherwell Valley Services yesterday evening and what an improvement!! the young lady who served me in Burger King was very pleasent and managed to "up sell" some onion rings on my order, unfortunatly i didn't get her name, all facilities looked clean & tidy, just a shame the young lady working in the uppercrust missed a couple of opportunties as so many people went by the unit and she did nothing to entice them to buy. though she had a very nice smile!
All my visits to Cherwell Valley services even through the refit after the fire have been good ones. long may it continue.
Steve Adams, Fri 26 Aug 2011
Visited the impressive new Cherwell Valley services today. Must say that compared to most service areas this one is bright and airy. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to get two breakfasts for £10 and enjoyed the outside seating area.
Louise C., Mon 15 Aug 2011
Just visited the new Cherwell Services - why can't they all be like tis one?! It's light and airy and well laid out. I had a baguette from Upper Crust which is a welcome change to the normal fast food offerings.
K. Adames, Fri 29 Jul 2011
WOW! What a difference! Visited this site on Friday 1st July, being the 1st day re-opened since its rebuild.
Must say, it was superb to see a site so clean, effiecent and with friendly staff.
Was an absolute pleasure to stop and bring my Coach party in for a comfort stop and will certainly be stopping there again.
Mark, Thu 7 Jul 2011
The most expensive Costa ever. Tried to charge me nearly 6 quid for a cappucino and a small bottle of fizzy water. No wonder they try their hardest to hide the prices. I believe my exact words were "six quid, you drink it"Extortionate.
Mick, Mon 6 Jun 2011
Please can I say a BIG THANK YOU to the ladies in Costa Coffee and WH Smith who found my diary last Saturday and to Diane in the office for taking the trouble to return it to me so promptly. I can now get on with my life.

I am writing to say a huge THANKYOU to Sarah Dobbie, at Eat and Drink Co, who very kindly held our car keys so that the rescue company could collect our car whilst a friend drove us on to Heathrow in time for our flight to Vancouver to spend Christmas with our daughter. She really proved to me how dependent we are on the kindness of strangers, and she went above and beyond that!Thankyou Sarah,Debbie Collins

Reference Parking Charges by PC Plus. Do not pay. It is not the registered keeper of the vehicle who is liable, it is the driver. PCP has to prove who the driver was. Under our law, no one has to incriminate themselves. don't lie, just don't answer. This is contract law and is between the driver and the land owner - not PCP. The only recovery that can be sought, is damages for lost earnings. Over 2 hours is, by their website, just £8. This is therefore, the maximum that can be sought. There is good advice on the web
Jeremy Porter, Tue 1 Feb 2011
Well this is good news at last a service area that is looking after its customers in adversity.Probably all the staff bet it wasnt the mgt lol

I recently got snowed in at Cherwell Valley services and I would like to say that the staff were amazing at handling the situation. To Michelle, Ian, Phil, Luke and Jo,
a sincere thank you from myself
Steven Hartwell, Tue 21 Dec 2010
Got snowed in on saturday night. The staff were fantastic. Michelle was a real legend and Phil made everyone feel good, Thanks to all staff for keeping it going. Have rung up and you should get a reward apparently I hope you do.
Thanks so so much!
Lisa Cann, Mon 20 Dec 2010
Snowed in there for a while. Staff were excellent, deserve a bonus for their work under difficult circumstances. The camera registration no. ticket system seems ludicrous though.
keith coker, Sun 19 Dec 2010
I and my family visited this facility twice in one day this month. Unfortunately, the car park management system failed to notice when we left site, coming back hours later. They are now pursuing me for an £80 parking fine. Not the best customer service!
Jonathan Read, Wed 25 Aug 2010
sorry to hear about the fire.as a lorry driver that as had many nites out there.we might at last get better showers and food.hope u consider the hgv driver when u refit.

I know that Moto have an appeals process for anyone who feels they shouldn't have received a parking notice. If you or someone you know has been a customer or fallen asleep and a parking notice has been issued, log onto the moto web site and get in touch with them. They also have a duty manager available who can deal with any customer concerns or queries before you leave site.
Heather, Thu 1 Apr 2010
stopped at your services last night after got meal went to pay for it and found staff to be very slow my meal was just warm when i got to eat it this was due to people being searved with teas and coffees
mr parker, Tue 23 Mar 2010
MOTO are a total disgrace with zero customer service, all due to their latest parking policy using hi tech cameras to record your numberplate and issue a PCN fine if you stay over 2 hours without a ticket and as many motorists are discovering even if you are there for less because of poor system management you risk getting a penalty which comes from CP plus who aggresivily harass you for payment. Boycott MOTO sites for their greedy and inconsiderate attitude to driver tiredness and safety, only when their profits drop will they realise that it is all about the customer and maybe they should listen more to what we say.
D Weir, Tue 5 Jan 2010
Had a business meeting which went on for a bit longer than expected and both cars ended up with £80 fines from those lovely thoughtful CP Plus people. My business colleague was very impressed with his fine especially as it was me that suggested meeting here.
We also wasted about £30 on barely edible food.
I have been reasonably impressed with MOTO services in the past but will not ever be visiting one again. They have just lost regular Diesel fills of £50 - £70 and other custom.
I had this problem at MOTO Chievely as well but have never had any problems with Roadchef or Welcome Break and will be ALWAYS using them in the future EVEN when less convenient.
Beware this parking rip-off!!!!!
PS I would be interested in others comments. Is it MOTO that enforces this parking rip-off more aggresively than the others?
Martin Hutchins, Thu 27 Aug 2009
Good M and S+good costa coffee
tom, Sun 28 Jun 2009
I had pre-booked this room online. The good: the hotel room was clean and quiet. The bad & ugly: I had to ask for pillows and towels for two; no hair dryer; no hotel info in the room; no phone in the room to call reception; only basic TV chennels; the £4.50 breakfast was a disgrace -- worth only 45p. At least Costa coffee was OK, if expensive.
Ken Green, Sun 1 Mar 2009
Came off motorway as saw signs that the garage had LPG (quite big signs at that) spent 5 minutes looking for the LPG pump to no avail so spoke to the attendant who then advised me they did not sell LPG, when i questioned why they still had large signs saying they had, he tried to make a sarcastic comment and saying that they didnt do LPG anymore and it wasnt their fault the signs were still there, threw back at him a couple of reasonable and intelligent comments then realised i was dealing with a moron, great misrepresentation moto... thanks for your help. I dont mind that you dont have the LPG but at least remove the signs.
Nigel, Fri 6 Feb 2009
Got food poisoning from the Coffee Nation machine in WH Smith on Tuesday night (when it was snowing).
And it cost me £2.50 for the privilege.

Anonymous, Wed 22 Oct 2008
Cherwell services - excellent facilities for toddlers, feeding area, microwave, bowls & spoons as well as high chairs - an excellent place to feed little one - well done.
Andrew Hall, Fri 29 Aug 2008
for the size of the services the toilets are too small and disgusting always dirty on every visit I have made
john jackson, Wed 13 Aug 2008
The showers are DISGUSTING I would not wash my dog in there!! It is like showering in a sewer outlet, there are filthy shower curtains broken tiles broken showers etc etc. The HSE would have a field day here and shut them down imeadiately. All it needs is a dedicated cleaner between 5-7pm and am.
Stuart Mccabe, Wed 6 Aug 2008
For Dog owners on the motorway, (and kids who might need to run off some steam) Its worth walking through the alley between the Hotel and main sevice area (by the telephone boxes) Over a footbridge and this leads onto a vast grassed public open space. Beware the bridge as it is sometimes slippery when the dogs pull.
Len Lenaghan, Wed 22 Aug 2007
Pleasant place to have dinner was very clean. Although very pricer although you expect that, Over 8 pounds for a average breakfast. Toilets wasnt very clean though and was blocked up.
dan, Sun 19 Aug 2007
I visit the M & S every morning for a salad. the prices & quality of the food are far better than available elsewhere locally. The staff are charming - at least at 9am in the morning!
jason Smith, Wed 13 Jun 2007
All outlets were open, but resturant was serving reduced menu. Although beverages were acceptable, resturant was dirty and in obious need of a clean.
RedHillian, Thu 4 Jan 2007
Certainly the best services I have visited. The Marks and Spencers store has good quality food very reasonably priced. This service area is worth a visit even if you don't need to stop!
Steve, Fri 4 Aug 2006
These services are good, but the toilets appeared a bit dirty and offputting, getting to the services is awkward.
richard inglis, Thu 13 Jul 2006
Very clean and pleasent service area. Now has a Marks & Spencer food shop which was good. Probably best service area i have visited. This was 2006 not 2005. (There is no option for 2006 when adding comments!)
