We were a school party of 44 students and 4 staff and stopped here on our way back from a ski trip to Colorado, USA via Heathrow airport to N Yorks. I have to say thet the "long-drop" toilets somewhere up the mountain in the middle of nowhere were cleaner and far more pleasant experience than the ones here. At the Burger King I was shortchanged by £10 but two managers and a till check could not rectify the situation. A promise to contact me never materialised not even after another call to them a few days later. Incidentally they never answer the phone unless you are incredibly lucky - it took twelve attempts (my phone bill will confirm this). I drive an hgv and the m6 was completely closed due to an accident. having a very high trailer like many other drivers i had no choice but to pull up and wait for the road to reopen.Upon arrival the truck park was completely full up so i had to use the coach parking area i simply had no choice. after a mere 25 mins your wheel clamping crew turned up and gave myself and everyone els a stark choice of getting out or face a 250 pound fine for release. at least 3 trucks were clamped in there drivers absence. I found this over zealous behaviour by your clamping team outrageous.wether they are a private firm or operated by you they still represent your company. There we met to let them have our kids for a week at half term - they got there early and let the dog off on the grass for a walk and we arrived later and had a meal which was at a considerable cost and they then receive a fine of £80. Please bear in mind some of us are severely overworked doing double shifts, 7am-3pm 4pm-11pm being common occurances, and no doubt being paid a heck of a lot less than you think we do!!! We reciprocate good humour and friendliness with the same, yes on the odd occaison you may encounter someone less helpful than they should be... do not tar us all with the same brush! i work in the phone shop and we get asked thousands of times a day where the toilets are, or directions to places, or to look at and fix various electronics. we are always helpful and never turn anyone away without trying to first help. Some staff here do not speak particularly fantastic english, but they try their hardest to help, if you are not happy ask another member of staff! I hope this helps... if not, come and see me! I purchased a meal from Eat In, and it was cold and practically inedible, it was very greasy and as it was cold it was congealed on the plate. When I took it back, I was informed that I must have had the meal for some time and let it go cold. As my receipt was time stamped to show I had only paid for it 3 minutes previously I said how could I have left it to go cold. I asked to see the Manager (Sarah Clamp) to be told she was NOT on site, and that there was no-one else in management available to answer my query. I am an executive with the Health and Safety Executive, and was quite taken aback by the lack of concern for a customer. I have now written to the head office of this company, but to date have not even had the courtesy of an acknowledgement. Needless to say I will not be returning to this service area, and neither will any of my colleagues....but then, it appears that it wont bother them if we never go back, because the feeling is if we don't go, there are always others who do. Especially seeing as it is old, and probably gets a really high throughput of people leaving and entering London, Luton and Milton Keynes. It's problem is that it is just REALLY small (looks more like a few back to back regular petrol stations from the outside!). Low ceilings, small walkways, small building in general. This makes it appear dark and crowded. It's not the prettiest, the biggest or the best - but I found it clean in a simple way and reasonably fit for purpose. The Burger King restaraunt was clean and modern, and looked hygienic. You wouldn't want to spend more than an hour there to 'relax' though. Eat, use toilet and carry on your way. The faciluties are above average for an MSA. My usual lunch break is at Cafe Primo. The coffee is good, but sometimes not as hot as it should be. A quick return and friendly word sorts that out.
