Wow what amazing service kfc has, may I say the best to offer fast serving times great staff great food... Not what a bloody shamble the place is, GET IT SORTED! The chicken I have to comment on specially with the great taste which I can only explain as 'roadkill' but it clearly wasn't ran over by a staff member because they don't move fast enough! Love how half the menu wasn't available too that was great! Signed the under cover curnal!

I went to Gretna services and stopped for breakfast with my daughter and the service in the canteen was shocking. One member of staff was making the breakfast and then serving so by the time you sat down the breakfast was luke warm. Then they had ran out of some breakfast and it tuck ages for them to get it out. Beware of the children eat free with adult meal. Will NOT be using it again.

I was speechless when I ordered a meal here this afternoon whats happened to the staff I stop here at least once a month and yes the place is at busy times untidy but today the staff was damned right rude

Visited this service station yesterday, as we have done several times in the past year as it is a convenient stopping off place for us to stretch our legs, and paid a visit to Burger King.
This was the only meal that my wife ate all day as she fell seriously ill several hours later from what appears to be food poisoning from eating a chicken burger.
As I write this she is groaning in pain in bed. She is not one to make a fuss usually so I do know she is very poorly and I feel compelled to write this in here as a word of warning to all.
Really angry and worried about this as she is due to be going on holiday in the next couple of days, but if it gets worse she may be forced to cancel. Don't visit Burger King here!

I visited Gretna Green Welcome Break at 8.30 on 25th Feb 2013. I was there for 20 or so minutes. I drove upto Paisley and then Falkirk for appointments and stopped back at the services at around 5.30 for a toilet stop. TOTAL PARKING TIME AT GRETNA GREEN WELCOM BREAK = c40 minutes over a 8 - 9 hour period! Result........£100 PARKING FINE!!!!
RIDICULOUS. Obviously i have appealed, obviously this is wrong but it causes stress and work. When I bill them for £100 for trouble caused am I likely to get it!?

Having visited these services 3 times in 2 weeks (I think the Mrs is getting suspicious) I can only compliment them, As a trucker I overnight at many service stations/truckstops and by far Gretna has been one of the most pleasant so far. The staff whether employed by the MSA or the concessions have been extremely friendly and not pushy, The food is pretty good (lamb shank recommended) and great value when included with the £18.50 parking, showers and toilets were very clean, I haven't entered a cubicle and found a floater yet. The main building is light and airy with the piped music not too loud giving a relaxed ambience. The only complaint is that the truck parking area isn't huge, so get in early, But There tends to be overnighters staying rather than those on 45's and consequently it makes for a decent nights kip. Definite thumbs up from me.

Northbound, Sunday ~10am: Toilets were clean and well maintained. Good food choices. Kids had hot chocolate and we bought fresh sandwiches from the canteen area.

Just stopped for my AA man to have his break and myself and my Aunty went into the Eat In cafe. We both had the best fish and chips ever! It was fresh cooked and massive. It even came on paper for authenticity. A great services and a fab fish and chips. :-)

Well, this was a surprise. I only stopped here because I needed petrol and the kids needed a wee, but the place has been renovated since my last visit and it's much, much nicer. The amenities building is light and airy, and everything is clean and tidy. It's still a tad on the small side, so I suspect it may get overwhelmed at peak periods, but on this particular Saturday afternoon there were no significant queues for either KFC or Burger King. And, as a bonus, petrol prices, while still a bit higher than off-motorway locations, were below average for an MSA.

I planned to stop and refuel at Gretna on Tuesday 3rd April en-route from Fife to Bradford. Having pulled in to the service area, I was horrified to find the filling station closed and coned off. Is this permanent?

my wife and I were traveling from the isle of wight, to urgently get to east kilbride hospital where my father in law was undergoing life or death surgery,we stopped at these services at 2am for a break, bought refreshments and unfortunately fell asleep,on returning home we have received a parking fine from a firm called parking eye who apparently cover all car parking areas at these services,I cannot recall seeing signs regarding parking charges, and on contacting the services I have received no help so therefor have had to pay £60,what I find disgusting is for safety reasons we took a break, spent money, and are then ripped off by these firms for being in an empty car park at 2am.

MOTORHOMES BEWARE!!!! Despite the fact that we paid and displayed our ticket to stay in the designated caravan area overnight we still received a Parking Charge Notice demanding that we hand over £90, unless we paid within 13 days, then we could have a discount but still pay another £60. SO MY ADVICE IS TO KEEP YOUR PARKING RECEIPT.

I would just like to say that Gretna service station was a complete surprise to me. Driving conditions weren't great and i felt that i just needed to get off the motorway for a little break, usually i wouldn't stop at service stations as they usually have bad reviews. To my delight, i was pleasantly surprised. Went into the starbucks to have the staff brighten up my day. The beverage i received was delicious and the staff made me feel like the most important people in the world for my stay. Extremely helpful, chatty and knowledgable about their products. Toilets clean. Very nice place. In the future when i am travelling i will definately make a point of stopping here. Thankyou for a wonderful experience and changing my opinion of Service Stations.

Have used this site a few times and have no reason to complain. Toilets have been clean, staff cheerfull and helpfull, food good.

i used to work in these services and the customer is right about most things there is never any staff due to management saying that they have no budgets to put staff on

Due to the fact that we were on a coach trip and limmited to time we made our way to the self service food area. We had the fried haddock and the soup. The haddock looked delicious, but tasted of NOTHING. Could only describe it has tasting like it had been soaked in water for a week. The soup was "dishwater" couldn't be eaten. Quality very poor.

Dirtiest and smelliest male toilets at any of the many Motorway services I have visited this year. May have been mopped 45 mins earlier but the deep grime had accumulated over a long time. Welcome Beak and Cannon Hygiene.....someone is letting you down.
Richard Jarvis, Fri 28 Sep 2007
Visited this services last week hoping to use toilets. Not enough cubicles in mens, some of them shut. Some taps have their top missing. Generally the toilets are unclean, and the BP garage ones where I ended up are even worse. Lock was falling off the door, no hot water or soap, horrible. Avoid this place.
Kevinho, Sun 12 Aug 2007
These services are always mostly closed and absoloutely filthy when i visit them on my way down the 74 at night. the outside lighting is terrible with most of it being off. the car park is always littered with rubbish and the bay markings have all but gone. Inside it doesn't get much better with just the newsagents shop and one cafe open. There are never many staff about and if you want to buy something in the shop (overpriced as ever!) you usually have to search for the assistant. The gents toilets are disgusting here, they stink and never look like they've been cleaned any time recently even though there is an electronic display stating that they get checked every 30 minutes or so. So on the whole these services are uninviting, dirty and badly staffed. Surely management must realise that people need to visit these places at night as well. I have recently started using annandale water services just north of lockerbie, these are 100% better. My advise is avoid gretna services at all costs!!!
white van man, Sat 24 Feb 2007
services with a smilelovely friendly welcoming staffgreat facilitesKFC, Burger King, Great Coffee, Lovely Cakes.Very pleasant stay at their hotel too.
ronald edgar, Fri 9 Feb 2007
No matter what time of day I visit, the toilets are filthy and in need of a good refit. Broken door locks on cubicles, broken soap dispensers and tape with no tops on them are a common feature of this establishment. As someone else said, the burger king people seem disinterested.
Dave Galligan, Thu 19 Oct 2006
This was my second stop this year at these services and it was not by choice, this is a lonely service station, my wife did not feel very secure at all. The car park was littered it was not a nice experience. The shops just cannot wait to get the shutters down and see the back of you. The service in the burger joint was not very freindly, almost as if customers were a nuisance. Glad I was going back to England to be frank.
Neil McNeil, Tue 22 Aug 2006
A nasty little service station: smoky and greasy, lack of choice, poorly laid out. Not a nice welcome to Scotland!
Edward Walkington, Wed 10 May 2006
This MSA is small and poky, with very little choice in terms of shops or restaurants, with inadequate seperation between smoking and non-smoking areas. It also seems to shut down after 5 o'clock. Avoid.
