I work in a shop as well and so many people make the same mistake be misreading the promotion as it is actually only what's on that edge label and clearly tells you which items are available on the promotion. People should read before they buy. As for there being other items on that shelf they would of been part of a separate promotion. I don't understand some people why complain about this when you failed to read it proper and by refunded you 5.60 because that was the price of the 2packets of sweets . If he was to refund you the 1.60 then that's beacase there till was not updated and that product was infact supposed to be on offer but the shop was well within there right to it give it to you at discount price beacase you did not read the edge label properly, easy mistake you should of admitted you made the mistake and forgot it. Just to let you know you won't get anywhere with your complaint. Andidoubt wh smith will go under with out your custom

Pulled in To Hartshead services on the Saturday after Christmas (27th Dec). It had taken 3 and a half hours to get here from Southport, primarily due to weather and I think the Woodhead Pass being shut. My mouth was really dry and as I didn't want a drink because no more loo stops for a while, I decided to get some fruity sweets from W.H. Smith. On this particular shelf there was a range of 5 different packets of sweets with crisps on the rest of the shelf at the side of them. There was a ticket on the front of the shelf saying, 'Buy 2 for Ã‚Â£4.' The normal price being Ã‚Â£2.80 each. I bought a packet of Sports Mix and a packet of Yorkie buttons for my husband. Having bought a few other items when paying, the total amount seemed higher than anticipated. We walked to the side of the till as it was really busy, and checked our receipt. We had been charged the full Ã‚Â£2.80 for each packet of sweets. I went back to the cashier, who later said that he was also the manager, to bring this to his attention. He told me that the amount rung in the till was correct and came to the shelf with me. I pointed out the ticket to him to which he said that this offer only applied to certain products. He had to remove the ticket from the shelf to read what products that it applied to though, and it only applied to 2 out of the 5 that were on the shelf. Whilst the price ticket was on the shelf it was difficult to read what products it applied to. So out of five sweet products on this particular shelf the offer only applied to two of them, despite the price ticket being placed in the middle of all of the products, leading to an assumption being made. The manager did offer to make a refund on the sweets which I accepted.
Pity, as he refunded Ã‚Â£5.60 when in fact he need only have refunded Ã‚Â£1.60 for good grace.
Needless to say W.H. Smiths have now lost a customer throughout their stores and I will be forwarding this to The Rip Off Britain programme.

After stopping off at Hartshead Moor service station for a bite to eat I decided to dine at KFC. I was greeted by a lovely girl named Sarah, who took my order. Whilst waiting for around 2-3 minutes for my order, I noticed another woman in a black shirt making very rude comments and acting in a discuising manner towards the girl who had served me. I can only describe the way in which Sarah was spoken too as bullying. I was appalled by the woman's behaviour and vowed to make this complaint and if necessary take it even further. Truely disgusting behaviour from someone who I am lead to believe is in a managerial position.

Absolutely shocking! When your tired and no money and finish a 14hour shift and its 2oclock in morning and im falling asleep on motorway. So I pulled over for some sleep and wake up to a patking ticket... are you mad?? Well government can pay my fine... if you want it.... tell someone who cares yeah! Thanks. Please dont come again!

is this the awful service station who refused someone a cardboard box to contain a mother cat and small kittens that had been abandoned , if it is you... you ought to be ashamed withing hours of you refusing to help one small kitten was found dead and the mother cat has now moved the rest away so they cannot be rescued , i hope you are utterly ashamed of your service especially on xmas eve

I would like to make a formal complaint....
I called into your services Hartshead Moor (near junction 25/ M62) (westbound), on Thurs 7th November/ 7.31am and ordered a traditional breakfast, along with toast and a coffee. I was asked if I would like toast with it, but was not told at the time it would be an extra 25p.... mainly a principal.
I then had to spend around 3-5 minutes searching for condiments/ sauce/ milk/ salt & pepper etc as everything was 'dotted' around your restaurant in different areas, and very dysfunctional to find.
When I eventually started to eat my breakfast, apart from the fried egg, everything was CLAY COLD. The bacon was disgusting, and like a piece of leather.. and I bent the fork in half trying to cut it - just like a piece of leather. The beans, hash brown, mushrooms & sausages were barely warm to start with. I looked for some assistance, and no one was about (only 2 other customers in the restaurant at the time) - so I decided to leave.
I trust this matter will be dealt with as soon as possible and replied accordingly with a suitable expanation. I think that for the money I paid, Ã‚Â£9.39 - I could have paid less with another retail restaurant coloured red, who cook their breakfasts "fresh to order".... and not just the egg.

Wonderful staff in W H Smith very helpful, he was a young tall teenager I think his name was Liam. Helped heaps went beyond the normal level of service in these places

I had a broken windscreen that caused me to pull into your services (25th August 2013). I didn't have a smart phone, but asked a lovely man (maintenance)to help me. He gave me the Auto-glass telephone number and even came to find my car, that I was OK. He went beyond his job description, and I would like to thank him so very much. He was 5'8" with a beard and glasses. Staff that go the extra mile are really few and far between, please say a huge "Thank You" from me.

Pulled into Hartshead Moor services yesterday to stretch our legs on a long journey. What a pleasant surprise, clean and bright service station and I couldn't believe the value at 'Eat In' restaurant. No extortionate services prices, but good well cooked food. I had half a roast chicken, with chips peas and gravy for Ã‚Â£5.00, there was so much food I could only manage half, all the dishes were priced at Ã‚Â£5.00 and there was a good selection, and all huge portions. Its renewed my faith in motorway service stations.

discusting!! after a long journey with my children i was getting served at KFC when i heard a resturant manager swearing and bullying members of staff! this is absolutly discusting, my children heard them. i am a regular customer and on p[revious occasions all staff seemed happy and great customer service, however, if this management is not sorted i will never be going to any welcome breaks. i do not expect to see this manager (sara) in the near future. once again absolutly discusting i do not condone bullying and i dont expect my young children to witness this. if i do see this manager on my next arrival i will be writing to head office to get this nasty peice of work out of a job!!!!

Was heading back to Braford and saw the KFC sign and pulled in. Only to find I had to endure a short walk over the bridge, across the motorway. By the time I arrived at the other side, my legs were like jelly! As I stood in the queue of the KFC, which is right outside the mens toilets, the stench was unbearable! It just kept on wafting towards us. It stunk! One man who had joined the queue behind me, actually turned round and said the stench was making his eyes sting and had put him off his food! He turned and left!I mentioned this to the staff, who were very polite and apologetic, but also powerless, and directed me to the WHSmith store to file my complaint. I had wanted to e-mail the manager of that service station but no details were to be found.

Not bad, but not great.
Does what it says on the tin really.
Toilets are clean enough, food areas are fine and shop is ok too. Plenty of parking, for cars anyway, and easy enough to get a decent half hours kip if that's what you're after.
Petrol is very expensive though so best avoided - and be careful heading towards the motorway as the wagons have right of way and tend to fly on.
As West really, with a lot of parking at the rear of the hotel area. I'm sure they were doing curry specials last time i called but can't be sure.

Called with 10 others in party. Food ordered was wrong. Re ordered food, waited and waited, although other customers served, but hadn't arrive when rest of party finished. Asked for and got refund, but had to wait for manager to do this. Gernerally poor, slow, and food that others were served was poor and semi warm. Not the best. Would hate to be back of the queue if a coach party arrived.

Please convey my greatful thanks to the lovely lady from Starbuck's who helped me into the ladies,when she saw me struggling with a walking stick on on my sons arm,very friendly,she waited for me & delivered me safely back to continue our journey,not far but we had travelled from the Lincs.coast on Valentines Day. The young lady in the shop was also helpful & pleasant

I popped into to this service area for a quick coffee. The slip road back out onto the motorway was the seriously dangerous. The pot holes are more like caverns/ craters and I was shocked as I had to dodge my way through. I have since found a slow puncture in my tyre wall! Quite furious!

I have used this service stop for a number of years and have grown to expect a high standard of experiance when visiting. The last six months however there has been a marked change.The main problems, quality of staff, lack of staff and hygiene standards of staff. As a genuine regular customer I have not been able to find anyone on site to express my concerns so I will now no longer use tha facility, I might add that I have heard many other people over the last six months expressing the same opinion

Facilities are clean and well maintained. Only disappointment was the experience with the old lady (staff) who was very rude to us at Coffee Primo. We bought coffee and were taking sugar & cups when she came rushing, shouting and demanding what we wanted. The cups were not clean so we were choosing an alternate cup. She snatched the cup from my hand and said that she will give it to me. Very surprised to see this kind of rude behaviour.

It was a bit annoying that I had to battle the wind and rain to cross the footbridge to get to the only side with a Burger King. Once there I was impressed to find that the toilets were immaculate, the seating area pleasant, and the Burger King staff far more friendly than I usually experience.

Visited 13 September 2008Disabled parking spots occupied by cars waiting for fast food. No space for disabled. Vehicle occupants abusive when approached.No community policing in evidence despite notice indicating otherwise.Suggest proper patrolling particularly during busy periods

I was very dissapointed to find that they only had Burger King on the eastbound side of the services and that the footbridge across wasn't even covered. It was literally a bridge.
