Looking for a place to stop for a cooked breakfast for 10-20 golfers on the way to Herons Reach at Blackpool. Could you accommodate us for the traditional full English breakfast?

I have reason to be delighted with the care and honesty of staff at this service station. I had the misfortune to leave a bag containing my wallet and mobile phone in the cafe. Discovering this at Heysham Ferry Terminal I never expected to see the bag again. However, on phoning the lost mobile, it was answered by a member of staff at WH Smith Killington Services who reassured me that the items were safe and I could pick them up on my return 6 days later. It was with huge relief that I returned, found the lady who had spoken to me, and received my bag - with all the contents intact. I am very grateful indeed. On offering a reward, I was told, no, we cannot accept any money, it is all part of the job.

We stopped here on our way home from Center Parcs. Compared to most service stations this was definitely at the top end of the scale. It was clean and much better than your larger canteen style service stations where it's a cattle race! The view from the restaurant was breath taking an unusual sight in a service station where you usually have motorway traffic to look upon! We had Costa coffee & McDonalds the prices where no more than I would expect to pay at home in Costa or the likes!
I would like to add that we had a mini disaster, my daughter left her comfort blanket there and once we were home I called them up and the staff were very obliging and found it and posted it back to us at their cost for which my daughter and I were extremely grateful!
I would definitely recommend it as a stop.

Hugely disappointing, having driven 160 miles and anticipating a traditional "all day" breakfast, to find I had a choice between a Costa Coffee and Macdonalds. A completely inadequate and narrow range of offerings and a backward step from the past. Such a pity given such an attractive site. Like an earlier contributor I will stop at Tebay in future.

This used to be an ok services, pricey, but at least you could get a hone cooked breakfast, now, they refurbished shut the restraunt and opened a chuffing McDonald's, do not stop here ever, go ten mile further north to Tebay.

Absolutely disgusting!! Costa doesn't open till 7am and the only thing that was open was McDonald's! Went to have a sit down and nearly all the tables that weren't occupied hadn't been cleaned and had dead flies on them! Vile! Mcdonalds was disgusting and no cutlery was available! We had to ask which then we were grudgingly given it! The toilets are vile and there was a man cleaning the woman's toilets which I found very uncomfortable considering the fact he was present when woman were acctually in there!! Will never be returning to this horrible and grubby service station!

Called in Lunchtime 21st Feb 2014, no hot food facilities, costa available and WH Smith only. Would not have stopped if I knew there were no hot food facilities, why not let people know before they pull off.Received a luke warm sausage roll from the garage (charged 20o% VAT for something that wasn't hot).Never stopping here again.

We regularly used your service station as a family meeting point, living fairly local to the area. The staff are always very friendly. Called in yesterday and paid £6 for two coffees! Sadly, we won't be visiting again.

I called in on the evening of the 6 Nov and have to say that the quality of food was excellent. I am not a fan of service station in food in general - however the chicken tikka masala was tasty , hot and served with a smile for once. My sincere thanks to the team there - I would have no hesitation in recommending the service area to others.

I called here yesterday to use the toilets, something that I won't be doing again. The gents are disgusting, the first cubical I tried had no lock on the door so I came out of it. I was about to use the disabled cubical as it was the only one free but could see that this was one obviously blocked as the pan was full of urine almost to the top! When I finally did get into a cubical it had a bodged lock on the door, the pan was very discoloured which made it look dirty, and there was toilet roll on the floor. The sinks are also discoloured and dirty looking, and the hot water was so hot you couldn't put your hand under the tap as it would probably scald you!
Roadchef really need to make it a priority to refurbish the toilet at this service area as they are dated, tired and dirty. The only reason I stopped here was because I joined the M6 at J38 and needed the loo. Had I joined a bit further north I would have stopped at Tebay (Westmorland) services which have fantastic clean and modern toilet facilities.
Stuart, Tue 30 Jul 2013
Unfortunately I have to use this place most week daysThe state of your toilets is Absolutely disgusting and the sensor flushing systems are a nightmare. .
M Griffiths, Wed 17 Jul 2013
Called here coming back from Scotland late one night and IT WAS SHUT!!This was a couple of years ago and this is the first site I've seen where I can post a comment.

We called in expecting typical services food and were pleasantly surprised with freshly cooked fish and chips by a very polite man behind the counter. This was very appreciated after a manic day in Newcastle supporting the great north run

I have failed to make telephone contact with Killington Services (M6) for 2 days. Please let me know if there is a different number to that on the website as this is an urgent legal matter relating to a member of staff

Visited Killington Lake Services to Dine on our return from Scotland on Sunday 1st July 2012.The two Men working the hot food counter were so helpful and the food was cooked to order Fresh Fish and chips The service was the best i have experienced inusing motorway services in 40 years. These guys are an asset to any businessI had a word with their manager Pedro and complemented him on his team. Well Done and the view is pretty good while you eat as well

Stopped here to use the toilet and the they were filthy and disgusting. The worst toilets I have been in for a long time. I would not recommend stopping here at all.

Visited on a trip back from Scotland, food excellent, service good, all spoke great English, worth another visit
Gary Davies, Mon 14 May 2012
visited this dump (which used to be our favourite) on friday, there was no hot food on the counter, the service seemed to be by eastern europeans who had limited languige skills. i picked a supposed toastie. this comprised 2 slices of white bread, a little cheese and 2 bits of tough tomato, this and acup of tea £7. 10/115 minutes later i had to go and get it after it was toasted. tables gubby. the last time i will darken there door. tebay from now on. what about local labour the way it was.
roy mitchell, Sun 5 Feb 2012
Visited on a quiet mid-afternoon last week. Fantastic views over the lake. Clean facilities and friendly customer-oriented staff. The food on the hot plate did look like it had been there some time, but no surprise since it was well after the normal lunch time and it was not a busy day.
Simon, Tue 20 Dec 2011
I've visted Killington Lake on several occasions, but the last time was awful. On friday night 15th Oct we stopped hoping for a meal, no jacket potatoes,no mash potatoes to go with sausages and it looked dried up, this was at 7.45pm. Whilst we were havig a drink the cleaner were vacuming very near where people were eating, they could have sectioned it and waited while everybody finished eating.I'm sorry, but I'll not hurry back.
ANNE KEDDIE, Mon 18 Oct 2010
M Hewitt why not voice your opinions to the customer service team that i am sure could be found on thier web site www.roadchef.com.These people need to be brought to book about the standards us public have to endure the more people complain the chances are they may do something about it.
dosser666, Tue 28 Sep 2010
On the way down south from Scotland at 12 pm on friday 24/09/10 we stop at Killington lake. My hushand and myself both used the toilet facilites and we appalled at how dirt they were. It looked as if they hadn't been cleaned for at least a week or so. The toilets seat and sistern were all dirty. The sinks were covered in dirt and there was no soap. I was really disappointed there didn't seem to be anyone to complain too for that reason on my next trip to England I will not be stopping at this service station.M Hewitt

Pleasant, clean, small, quieter than most services, easy to park. Friendly staff.
D Banks, Mon 23 Aug 2010
One of the nicest service stations in the UK. Only downside was when we stopped for a picnic beside the lake, the benches were in a terrible condition and nearly falling apart. Everything else is excellent.
Callum Boyd, Thu 12 Aug 2010
i once worked in the travel inn situated next to the servces but recently visited en route to a football match, top quality services with the fastest cleaning of tables you'll ever see!!!!!
paul pemberton, Mon 30 Nov 2009
I really like this service station, coming back from Scotland, stopped for a coffee and looking over the lake. Stunning. Shame the services is only on the southbound side.
Alexander, Mon 25 May 2009
Lovely views, and nice picnic and indoor seating areas. But best if you have your own food with you as service is not the best. Toilets were the same as in any services, clean but a bit whiffy!
R Dale, Sat 6 Sep 2008
I stopped at the Killington Lake Servicestation on Saturday 14th June 2008.We had to use the handicapped toilet as my husband is in a wheelchair. The toilet was filthy with excrement,I had to clean the toilet before he could use it.As a result of this I have had gastroenteritis.
Mrs Jeanette Conroy-Callaghan, Fri 20 Jun 2008
Lovely location. Stopped here on the way home from scotland for a picnic. Service & food was ok.
Callum, Sun 19 Nov 2006
Stoppedn here after reading on this site how good it was. The views are certainly good bu the food and service was really only average. The gents toilet area was not very clean either.

A very good MSA with a good lake. If you're in this part of the country you should use this MSA.
Gavin, Sat 19 Nov 2005
This must be the most scenic services of any UK motorway ! A nice place to stop and relax.
