Opened: 1972
Owners: Ross, Welcome Break
Built on the site of a former RAF airfield, the slightly unusual design of these services is the result of a cash crisis experienced by its first operator, Ross. Ross originally planned to construct a "bridge" services, similar to their existing site at Leicester Forest, but couldn't afford the cost of managing traffic on the M4 during construction. So, instead, it's a "mirror" site with services both sides and a simple pedestrian footbridge linking the two - but the services themselves are both two stories high with catering on top at the level which would have been linked by the facilities bridge.
