Tell us all about your experiences of this service area.
PLEASE READ! I was just exiting this service station earlier today 16 july 2016 and just as I joined the slip road to rejoin the motorway at about 12:30 i noticed a tiny black kitten on my right hand side just by the bushes. I stopped my car and in effect stopped all traffic and tried to rescue it but it ran back into the bushes. It was very scared and I feel so bad for it, cant be any more than 4-5 weeks old, possibly been dumped there and there may even be more kittens, anybody who reads this who has a heart can you please have a look out for these poor little creatures or at least just be careful when driving past the area. I am phoning RSPCA now i dont want them to suffer any more they need rescuing

Not my personal experience but a good friend of mine. Not at this services though, was Birch services on M62. He went online on a forum( not sure which one sorry) and they told him just to ignore all correspondence. After about nine months all letters from them just stopped. This was about 18 months ago and had nothing since.

Cheers Matt - is that from experience? I don't want to get caught up in the legal, bailiff stuff.
Mark Harford, Mon 20 Jun 2016
Just ignore it, don't even acknowledge it, they can not enforce it. If they threaten legal action just ignore. They will eventually just give up.
I stopped for a safety break and short sleep on June 8th this year. I was exceedingly tired having travelled from Northern France, via Exeter and arrived at 01.37. My stay was 3 hours 13 minutes, imagine my surprise to receive a parking charge for £100 reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days (which has taken 4 days to arrive). During the day, fair enough but 01.37 - who reads parking signs at that time in an empty car park. Just another money making scheme to catch out the tired and unwary.
These services are poor and the Burger King is the worst we have used - no trays, burgers in the wrong wrappers, coffee disgusting and 50p xtra charge for hot drinks with a meal deal. Will certainly not stop at these services again

Stopped half way on my trip from Cornwall to the Midlands, 9am this Sunday morning. I asked if I could just have toast with my coffee. A very pleasant young man said that he would make this for me. It was served with a smile and just what I needed. Excellent service and great value.

Visited at 17:30 on 22nd December. All hot food closed down as 'started to close early'. Having driven for several hours and inneed of break and a mea I thought this was pathetically poor. Motorway servi providers should provide proper meal services around the clock.

Made a short stop at Sedgemoor on Saturday 30th August around 2.00 p.m. when the M5 and the service station were both very busy. It was very helpful to find that extra parking had been provided on the grass area and was being well controlled by staff; we thought that a sensible response to the traffic situation. Thank you

Stopped at this services earlier today and can only say I was appalled by the state of the whole place. It was absolutely filthy everywhere. The toilets were cleaner than the restaurant!DO NOT STOP HERE.
Jayne Timmins, Sun 31 Aug 2014
after my stop at the services and posting a review, i will update you we have been very sick over night and as the food is the only thing we had eaten all day can only come to one conclusion the food was bad for this i have now contacted the EOH . I will most definatly not be useing the services again

Stopped off at around 2240 with a friend during the course of the night as hgv drivers. We asked for two double whopper meals only to be told that the menu is restricted as they were closing shortly. We settled for a single whopper meals with a very small portion of fries and our lattes were black coffee. We took the coffees back and the assistant tried to give us those portion milk containers. We refused. Burger King is all about having it your way - not their way! Eventually they gave us the lattes. Two weeks later we decided to give them one more chance. We arrived at 2228 only to be met with an assistant who was cleaning the floor - sorry we are shut. According to this web page they were not supposed to close for another 32 mins! Park here by all means but don't buy anything - they simply don't deserve your custom!

Stopped at Sedgemoor Services northbound on Friday morning, bought a bacon roll and some chips/sauté potato's, chips were dry leaving the impression they had been cooked a considerable while before, the roll was also dry and stale, bacon not too bad. Food was so bad I did not eat all of it despite being hungryWould not stop there again

I have received a parking fine for overstaying by 45 minutes after taking a power nap.
I am not paying.
I have just sent a snail mail letter to them saying I will pay £3.50 for parking and £3.50 for their automated letter and £3.50 for caching my cheque, so a cheque for £10.50 was enclosed.
I said I will contest any action they choose to take. And I will.
I will not be intimidated by a car park company.
We all need to say no to this robbing of us.
Andy, Sun 2 Feb 2014
Having just paid a parking fine of £60 when, having listened to various exhortations on the TV about taking a power nap, I decided to break my journey by having a nap at this service area. What a mistake! I overstayed the 2 hour parking limit by 40 mins and, as a consequence, received a £60 fine. I really should have booked into the hotel - it would have been cheaper. Putting aside the fact that the whole of the service area is unkempt; and that the road markings/signage are almost impossible to see at night; and that the facilities are the epitome of mediocrity (well, maybe not that good), I had to pay a 0.70p surcharge for the convenience of paying my parking fine by debit card. Just how outrageous is that? Well done Welcome Break for partnering with Parking Eye - I suppose it is a marriage made in heaven but they are dragging you into their gutter. I know it makes no difference to Welcome Break, who care not at all for the views of their customers, but I will not in the future use your service areas and I will do my best to relay my low opinion of you, and of Parking Eye, to everyone I know.

Having stopped at the services this afternoon I went into burger king where I was served. Whilst I was waiting a guy came in who I know worked there because of the outburst from the girl behind the counter serving me towards him something to do with a rota the poor guy was stunned as I was this not something you expect whilst waiting for your food totally unprofessional there is a time and a place for discussion. I suggest this girl needs a lesson in customer services from her manager.

Having driven all the way from Tavistock, Devon I felt ready for a break and a small breakfast. The service at the Eat in counter was friendly and efficient. However, the tables had not been cleared so I had to make room at one for myself. Other customers had to do the same. Later, a gentleman I took to be the manager came out and made a pathetic, half-hearted attempt to clear some of the tables. One of the ladies working on the servery came out and did a sterling job of clearing tables and processing the crockery and cultery for taking through to the washer. The 'manager' was still fussing about and achieving very little. I asked and discovered that the lass's name was Natasha, and personally praised her efforts. I also feel that she deserves some Company recognition. The manager? I think he needs to go on an efficiency course!

Parked up overnight in my HGV. I have never left a comment about a MSA before, but was so impressed with Sedgemoor n/b that I felt compelled to leave a comment. The toilets were immaculate, a real credit to the young fellas cleaning them. The breakfast I ate in the morning was very good, although in fairness they had only just opened so the food hadn't had a chance to become dry, a common problem in MSA's, but the service was superb.I had contact with 2 members of staff in the shop, and 3 young ladies in the restaurant, and they were all delightful, very polite and very attentive.Well done to all, I shall be parking there more often in the future as I run down the M5 regularly.

We have just returned from a stay at the Days Inn hotel at the site and found the staff very helpful especially in accommodating our daughter and family in adjacent room although they only stayed for the middle night of our 3 night stay.
Jean Hopkins, Thu 14 Jun 2012
This was the third M5 service station we tried last Saturday and we finally got food! The Burger King was open (just). Nowhere to sit in or near the Burger King place - tables had been stacked for cleaning - but we found a table belonging to a closed coffee shop, just inside the main door.
We had hit the northbound M5 at Tiverton Just after 8pm, hungry. It isn't very late but trying to find a meal was a nightmare. I hadn't realised so many facilities closed so early. I'm glad the Burger King was open - we had been on the go for a long time that day, but it wasn't the relaxing break from driving that we needed. At least the coffee kept us going till we got home 200 miles later.

we have eventually got our money refunded from parking eye after many telephone calls and letters to welcome break head office. But for one night in a motel not worth the hassle.Thank you to previous post advising us to pursue refund. Parking eye letters are very intimidating and would imagine people do just pay up. regards sandra

Message for Sandra Harrison, i see you have paid the bill, get on to welcome break customer services and demand your money back explain what happend and you paid the bill as demanded due to fear of it going up.There is no way you should accept this and fight it all the way even take it up with the hotel chain if you have no joy there, as they requested you park in the main park due to insufficient space, totally there issue.
Dosser666, Tue 14 Jun 2011
Whatever you do dont stay at the hotel. Booked in late and car park full told to park on services car park and receptionist took our registeration, all fine we left the following day. CONGRATULATIONS for providing an elongated parking area for disabled people who tow caravans etc.Just because we are disabled does not mean we are incapable of towing or being in a cat which tows a caravan and need the closeness of facilities.Thanks....one in the eye for Exeter services.
YVONNE HARVEY, Sun 12 Dec 2010
Had to stand and wait whilst the serving staff decided to move themselves away from the serving hatch whilst they were having an in depth chat about god knows what?Wait with food chilling whilst an egg was frying. To top it all the cashier spoke in an undecipherable language that only his peers would understand. Dull lifeless place full of staff that obviously wish they could be somewhere else. In this day and age of unemployment give the jobs to those who deserve it!!!

We popped into Burger King on a Saturday lunchtime where there was an enormous queue. To speed up this process we decided to use the self service paypoint - big mistake. The staff had absolutely no idea and it was a complete mess. Drinks were queued up on the counter for customers to rummage through to guess which one belonged to them! Not only that, not one member of staff was taking control of the situation and they looked like rabbits caught in the headlights - disaster and extremely disappointing. This added to the frustration that the normal queue had long since dispersed and the restaurant was now quiet, but the self-service area was still in complete disarray. Extremely disappointing

On visiting this site I found it very disappointing.I tow a caravan and found the facilities very badly laid out, the area is a large irregular sized pitch which you enter and leave by the same entrance causing bottlenecks. Added to this there is car parking on the edge of the entrance making it very difficult to get "swing" on the caravan. The worst part was the distance to the main block from the caravan park, with a severely disabled lady the distance and terrain leave an awful lot to be desired. We visited this site 5 years ago and found it wanting then, we will not be going back.

The WHSmith people were really helpful in my efforts to track down a book I had seen there previously. I can't put the exact date up in the relevant section of this comment page as it doesn't yet allow for 2010 comments, but my visit was on 4 Jan 2010 at around 1.30pm

I would like to thank ALL the staff at the services today under considerable pressure; in the light of unfortunate circumstances. THe were briliant! Everyonme was calm and got one with their job keeping the frustrated motorist fed and watered. I hope you get a bonus- Well Done.
