*If you want to pay top dollar and then be treated badly and then eat badly then Fresh Food Cafe at Sedgemoor South is the place for you!*
Ok so this is the first time I have ever written a bad review and I hate doing this sort of thing having worked in hospitality for a long time. However, I have never received such terrible service. The man behind the counter was rude and we had to send the food back as the order was wrong. I understand that he probably hates his job but there was no need for him take his anger out on me and every other customer.
All I asked was for the egg in the veggie wrap to be swapped for another Linda Mcartney sausage and he responded by saying "meat for meat, veg for veg" which makes absolutely no sense. Egg is far from a vegetable and a Linda sausage is not meat. So I queried this and his attitude was so snippy and snide that it made me embaressed. I don't like getting into arguments and i'm a reasonable person and understand if I can't make this swap. However, he could have just said; 'I'm sorry but we can't swap the egg for sausage, however you could have extra mushroom instead," simple, right? My friend also asked for a veggie wrap but swapping the mushrooms for cheese. Now, I know that orders do sometimes go wrong and most of the time it is just a mistake. However we could tell he just really didn't care or listen and unsurprisingly the order was messed up and we had to send both wraps back. One was just a classic veggie wrap and the other had no egg in it but had cheese instead. By this time it had been such a faff and a stress that we just wanted to get away from Fresh Foods Cafe. We got our money back and took our service elsewhere. Which in the end worked out better because for just £1 more we ate the most delicious veggie sausage sandwich that wasn't slimy and looked like it had been heated under a radiator.
Apologies for such a long review, but in short if you hate people please don't work in a customer service role. I understand if you feel hard done by because you are stuck in Sedgemoor all day but that also isn't my fault.

Stopped at Sedgemoor services 7am Sunday 26th March en route to an appointment in Devon. Exiting the service station, we found a tyre was punctured. My husband attempted to release the spare, which was bolted into the boot, only to find that said bolt wouldn't budge. The coffee shop manager, who was arriving for work, attempted to help us, but couldn't. Instead, he asked one of Roadchef's own maintenance staff to give us a helping hand, and he duly arrived complete with toolbox. After some considerable time and effort, he managed to remove the housing and extract the bolt thus freeing the spare tyre. Several minutes later, spare tyre in place, we were on our way again. Yes, we arrived late for our rendezvous, but could have been stuck there for hours awaiting help from the fourth emergency service. So, huge thanks to Chris for your skill and persistence, and also to Sedgemoor services for going above and beyond. Will we stop here again on our regular trips to Devon? Absolutely.

I would like to know why a major service at on the M5 has had no fuel for approx 4monthi travel from south Devon to Edinburgh approx every 4weeks and think it is disgusting

Just had a charge notice for £100 as my car stayed over the limit. My daughter was using my car with a friend to move accomodation at bath University. They had worked hard and she felt needed a sleep before getting food and travelling down to Cornwall. Always told that tiredness can kill. Very sensible move I thought, but clearly she had not realised that a motorway service would slap a limit on the time to stay. They woke after a couple of hours, bought breakfast and drove down safely home. I will be appealing. I have my daughter safe . Shame on you for charging so much - who gets this money? Certainly not any safety issues considered here.Sharon

Stopped at the Southbound Services last night (9th Oct 2015). Do not eat at The Burger Company if you want to be served quickly and get the correct order. Hugely inefficient management of a fast food outlet, staff were oblivious to the long queues and unrest amongst customers. Three staff members appeared to be working, no one picked up rubbish on floor by bin, they seemed to cook one or two orders at a time leaving everyone queuing, we were given the wrong drinks and only one lot of chips. So keeping everyone waiting whilst one or two orders were completed still failed to provide the right orders.

Stopped here on 5/9/15 on the way down to Weymouth. The place seemed to be clean and tidy enough, the toilets were extremely busy but still kept clean. Popped into The Burger Company for a quick bite and although it's very expensive (as most service stations are) the food was actually quite nice. The cash machine charges 2 quid for a transaction so be sure to carry cash with you, or if you need to use the cash machine take out a bit more than you need just in case.

The caravan parking area still hasn't improved, in fact it's probably got worse. On visiting a couple of weeks ago the pot holes were still there, the entrance & exit have now been combined into one which is now in the middle. When we were there it wasn't too busy but it was still very difficult to exit, can't imagine what it's like when it's busy. Can anybody explain the reasoning behind this change?
Doug Bird, Sat 11 Jul 2015
We're really sorry to hear that you had a bad experience on your recent visit to Roadchef Sedgemoor. Clearly, the high standards of quality that we usually expect from the Burger Company were not met on this occasion and your comments will be passed on to our site management team for investigation.
The Burger Company is currently in the process of being phased out across the Roadchef estate and is being replaced with McDonald's, enabling us to provide high quality food and drink at high street prices. The Burger King you mention is on the Northbound side of the motorway and is operated by Welcome Break.
Once again, thank you for your feedback and please accept our apologies for your poor experience on this occasion. If you would like to tell us more about this or any other visit, then you can do so directly at tellroadchef.com.

In a hurry on the way back from Bristol to Burnham and popped in to get a Burger King burger. Sad to see it gone but decided to try the Burger Company. Similar photos of burgers and what we hoped were reassuringly expensive prices. What a mistake! We took our bag of food and went home to eat. The buns were stale, my burger had no salad or sauce on. The burgers were disgusting - chewy, tasteless and horribly peppery. The 'cheese' was tasteless and watery but virtually non existent. As for the bacon - there were 3 pieces the size of postage stamps and so hard I could barely chew them. The chips were very greasy.Had we eaten in we would have demanded a refund. There was only one young girl running the outlet, so I presume the food is reheated. In one sentence? Do NOT eat here. £16 totally wasted.

We are very sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the your recent visit to Roadchef Sedgemoor and have passed your comments on to our site management team.
Our "children eat free" offer is for one child's meal with every full priced adult menu meal. This should have been explained to you by our team and we would like to apologise if this did not happen.
As part of our multi-million pound investment programme, we will be investing in new catering outlets and facilities across the Roadchef estate, to ensure that we provide a high quality environment for our customers on every visit.
If you would like to tell us more about any future visits, you can do so at www.tellroadchef.com .

First time using this service and never again!.. food in their cafe is atrocious not to mention the staff's attitude when I questioned their offer of children eat free with adult meal... I have 3 children and the offer clearly state children eat free with every adult meal brought, so assumed my children eat free! He was rude about it. I also had to have my children's fish cut in half cause they didn't have enough yet was still charged a full meal!. Vile place that is only good for me to empty my bladder and bowl and that's only in an emergency! Horrible place! And get staff that smile for goodness sake! All miserable. ... customer from plymouth! .

My husband and i are regular users of M5 Services and on Monday this week we called in at Sedgemoor. I know that I have a sensitave nose but even so, when the smell of urine hit me fully 25 yards away from the toilets, I was not happy! Once in side the ladies three of the 4 bowls I looked at were dark brown at the bottom, the fourth about a quarter - that said the seat and surrounding was fine. When I tried to wash my hands, I had to try three hot water taps before I could get any water. The smell was not so bad once inside the Ladies, so may be the problem is in the Men's. Either way something is wrong. On the basis of giving you the benefit of the doubt, we will try Sedgemoor again. If the same is true however, it will be the last time we spend money there.

How do you get from North side to South side???This is important when meeting someone! If the site operators read these comments please reply to me.
John Norfolk, Wed 22 Oct 2014
i had to stay overnight on my way south and on paying for parking was asked for £20.... I said I'm driveing a car and have never paid more than £11, the assistants reply was well we only do £20 or you can pay £22 and have a £10 meal voucher. i paid as i didn't want a fine but then on stretching my legs read the signage... yep £10, i finally had a £12 refund albeit begrudgingly.that said I know it was night but a smile from the staff would help after a long tiring journey and one last thing....Why isn't there a shower in the ladies or at least like other services have it accesible to all.
Micky, Thu 2 Oct 2014
The cafe really has to improve. We have stopped here regularly over the past few years and nothing has changed.Poor choice and mostly indifferent staff do not make for a pleasant experience if I stay here again it will be straight into Costa.

I had to read my debit card pin number out loud at the petrol station in order to pay for petrol. This is unacceptable.

Stop;t here on our way to Cornwall 19 July with our grandchildren, they both wanted a chicken wrap from burger company ,after placing the order a lady came back with food still frozen ,then after sitting down a man on the next table had just had a burger brought back due to it being cold ,the kids wanted to stay as they where hungry the wait was terrible on looking round the restaurant look very dirty a visit from the EHO i think was needed i made sure the food was hot for them did not eat it all what a waste of eleven pounds dreadful place .
Jenny Brignall, Mon 11 Aug 2014
I stopped here mid day 16/06/2014 The 'hot' food was almost cold and the knifes folks and spoons were dirty and stained, I tried to find clean cutlery but failed.I shall not be stopping here again.
Also very few disabled parking spaces.

Stopped here on route to see my mother in Bridgewater hospitalafter surgery as I thought I could wait, have a coffee and phone the hospital to check if she was out of recovery. Due to complications it took a few hours to get confirmation that she was out of recovery. Used the shops a few times and went on my way. Three weeks later I receive a summons for £90 in parking charges with CCTV pictures of my car saying I exceeded the parking time. If I don't pay the £90 I will be charged an additional £40! Be warned - do not stop here and don't give them your business as they have no respect for you as a customer

The area reserved for caravan parking needs resurfacing. The ground is full of massive potholes which get full of water during wet periods. Caravans and motor homes are expensive and could easily be damaged when entering or leaving this area. HGVs have a proper tamacced area, so why not for caravans? We have stopped here a number of times, but nothing has improved in the last few years.
Robert Harris, Sun 1 Jun 2014
Stopped here on sat 29 march on way to Cornwall. Used the ladies loos first. On entering, the most revolting smell of dirty drains hit you. There was an open drain to the left as you walked in with dirt and rubbish in it. The washbasins are a disgrace, dirty and scratched, with a centimetre of encrusted dirt around each tap. Do they employ a cleaner? If so they really need to have a word with him/her and explain the meaning of cleaning. We didn't stop for any food or drink after this. We dread to think what the kitchen is like. There were six of us so quite a considerable amount of revenue lost.

I stopped here recently on my way back to Cornwall. The coffee stand has 2 huge signs saying there are 2 sizes of coffee available. Large and medium (not sure on the description here) anyway - the large was £3.15 I think and the medium was £2.95 - overpriced anyway. There were NO medium cups available anywhere. You could only have a large cup. When I got to the dispenser there was ONE button. Which suggests to me that you got the same size whatever size cup you had. A clear rip off. I complained there were no smaller cups available and I was charged at the lower rate which I suppose is a good thing. But way over priced.
Jan Lynch, Wed 27 Nov 2013
Stopped here a while back, tbe service from staff was excellent, I wonder if all the negative comments were from summer holidays? Any way, a young lad called 'Adam' in the shop was most helpful, mote so than the manageress. Katka in Costa was also very pleasant, although they could do with a few members of staff extra!! Now, the bad points..... When I went I walked through the cafe and a group of people (i later found out as site director, and 2 area managers) were having a conversation. The site director (male, chris?) was very polite, but the other 2 ( a woman and a man) were everything but. If upper management talk to their staff in this way all the time im amazed they actually have staff left! She looked like she had just come in from a night out, dare I say it working on the street ( not a good image) and the man was a short chap with grey hair who I hate to say had 'little man syndrome' they were swearing, being rude and at one point didnt even move when a member of staff was struggling through with a trolly! If these 'head honchos' left this would be a much more pleasant environment to work.
serg cuthbertasen, Mon 21 Oct 2013
Stopping off at Sedgemoor on route to Devon from Wales decided with my two sons to try breakfast. The food was diabolical and cold, the egg looked like someone had sat on it, the portions were small, a rip off at £12 for two. Drinks were extra so we didn't bother, and the staff were totally disinterested, one strugging and walking off when I complained. I definitely will not recommend this pit stop to anyone!
Glen Sherriff, Wed 18 Sep 2013
Sedgemoor South services are the current holder of the title ‘worst disabled toilet I have ever used’.My husband had to push me into the ladies toilet, which is embarrassing for him. One unisex disabled toilet outside of the men’s and ladies toilets would be better. The only good thing I can say about the toilet is that there was enough room to turn round in a wheelchair. There are some quite well-placed handrails by the toilet paper, but all of this is completely out of reach because the toilet has been stupidly placed in the centre of the wall too far away from either the handrails or the toilet paper. The only handrail within reach when you are sitting on the loo is a toilet rail, which is far too low. The toilet is also too low, which made it extremely difficult to get up.To install such a badly planned toilet is almost bordering on the genius: did someone have a serious dislike of anyone in a wheelchair?
MH, Tue 10 Sep 2013
Roadchef is own by an foreign company who paid £150 million to much, hence poor service, disgusting toilets, high prices and an indifferent management. I would never stop at a Roadchef outlet and I've had lots of experience with motorway service areas and roadchef is by far the worst
mike acken, Wed 28 Aug 2013
DISGUSTING! we stopped on our way back from Bristol to North Devon, we actually walked out in the end as we couldn't stomach eating and paying in such a dive! The staff were unhelpful, shouting through hatches and generally ignoring customers. The toilets were dirty and in desperate need of an upgrade! we first went to eat in the burger bar and after looking at all the old, dry food with flys buzzing around it gave up waiting to pay for the privelage of paying for this muck and tried the restaurant on the other side... from a distance it looked quite clean but on closer inspection there was no working drink facilities, no stock had been replenished, the soup couldrens lids were left off and had gone all cold and dusty???? Staff need a major overhaul, attitude to customers is disgusting, i waited for 5mins by the till to pay and in the end thought better against contracting food poisoning from this place! i will never ever stop here again! Dirty and disgraceful, customers pay alot for services, the staff and owners should respect this and give us the stop we deserve and usually need... needless to stay we stopped at the next one and were happy!
katie, Tue 27 Aug 2013
Try starting again. The fabric of the building needs updating. This aside, doesn't this site have a hoover or someone to operate it. The carpet in the main food area hadn't been hoovered in sometime. Elephants walking through this area would have left less mess. Simple basic house keeping and good customer service would improve this site no end.
Paul Moore, Tue 27 Aug 2013
On my way to cornwall i had a over night stop on your services and was amazed to be charged £17.00 to park on waste ground as far away from the facilities as you could be I undwerstand charges are to be made but i believe this is a rip off how can you justify these prices
Adrain Pope, Mon 24 Jun 2013
On a recent coach holiday we had a comfort break at Sedgemoor Services and I can only conclude that they never have Visually Impaired people stop there. My partner is blind so therefore it is much easier for him to use the disabled toilets, of which there are two I must admit. The problem is there is one in the ladies toilet and one in the mens' toilet, now, there would be no problem if we were of the same sex, but we're not so therefore my partner had to suffer the indignity of me having to lead him to the one in the ladies toilet because he had no way of finding the one in the mens'. Surely it would be more considerate to disabled people to have disabled toilets that are easily accessable as many motorway services do
d. chrabaszcz, Mon 10 Jun 2013
The main food area seemed to be staffed by 2 people, one looking after the food and one doing everything else. There was no hot water available on the site and most of the hot drinks machines seemed not to be working. The tables had been "cleaned" by the person who was also responsible for the cash till. Sadly there was sticky residue left on the tables follwing the clean. There was no one to explain where anything was; even the milk containers were not signed. The loos were clean but in major need of an upgrade. What foreign visitors would think doesn't bear thinking about. I can't criticise the staff who were doing their best, but the place seems to be run on a shoe-string. One other thing. A teabag and water and a very average cappuccino, no food, cost £5.35. Perhaps I'll try one of the other services in the vicinity next time, or, more likely bring a flask of tea
Bob, Thu 25 Apr 2013
We called at the Sedgemoor Service station as a coach party returning from London. The food was extremely basic. The loos (toilets) were dirty; particularly the sinks and the soap dispensers.
This service station had litter on the ground leading in to the entrance. It needs a thorough re-furb plus organisation to meet customers expectations. If, we travelled anywhere by car, we would avoid this particular Service Station.

We called in at Sedgemoor Services yesterday, folloewing a long journey for some tea. the old resturant is now a Costa, with a very limited menu of fatty fried food. Everything was served with chips, apart from curry. We ate because we were hungry. The staff were indifferent and the food disgusting. There was no vegetarian option, no propper meals, no fresh salads, no soup, no jacket potatoes. We felt that £12.00 for two meals was outragous, considering the quality. We will not be calling in again to eat.
Ann Courtman, Mon 25 Mar 2013
I called into Southbound Sedgemoor services on 12/09/2012 during a very long and tiring journey. The restaurant was very very poorly equipped. No coffee machines working except for filter coffee (I was told) when I tried this, lo and behold that wasn't working either. The customers following me wanted tea, but it seeems that this didn't work either. There were a lot of dissatisfied customers that day, even though you may not have heard from them. The Costa coffee kiosk manfully tried to cope with the extra custom, but the queues were very long. This is poor service from a motorway station, especially at these prices. You can be sure, I will drive past the Sedgemoor services next time.

Polite staff, clean suroundings, Costa Coffee great, price average if not same as even my local high street, old building but it does get very very busy with holiday traffic. Better service than some of the others on M5/M4Thanks
Toby Lerone, Tue 4 Sep 2012
We have again stopped on our journey to Cornwall this summer and whilst its is always busy on the M5 each year. we were again grateful to the Sedgemoor stop. This year we were able to rest, eat and drink whilst our children played and we relaxed. Plus a Lovington's ice cream was had by all. Well done to all as we were greeted with a smile and great service from everyone working. Even the toilet attendant moving the queue in the ladies toilet was polite, considering how many people they were direct to spend a penny. Thanks the Stephen's family.

I was silly enough to inadvertantly leave my mobile phone at one of the food courts in Sedgemoor services on 14th July 2012. When I arrived home and found it missing I rang my phone and fortunately it was answered by one of the staff, who took my addtress and said they would pass it on to the cash office, which had closed for ther day when I rang, Two weeks later I recived my phone in the post, courtesy of Nicola in control , and the young lady who found it. Thankyou so much for a great service.
Tim, Wed 1 Aug 2012
I have just returned from a great break in cornwall with the caravan and family. We were amazed at how busy Sedgemoor Services can actually be. We often stop off there so we can rest, re-fuel and walk our two dogs. We were absolutely stunned at how busy the place was. We all queued to get different food and drinks but we just wanted to highlight to all the critisim that the staff were all flat out. With new outside units making it quicker to get served my whole family commented on separate times on how pleasent but very busy the staff that work there. Thanks again to all the staff for making our holiday start with a relaxed start to our holiday. The Stephens family
Mr Stephens, Thu 12 Apr 2012
I also recieved a parking fine for £90 (reduced to £50 for prompt payment) It was not my intention to sleep in my car however after a long journey and being pregnant I had to stop due to almost falling asleep at the wheel. I realise that I am to blame for my over stay however it wasn't a busy time, the car park was sparse and I begrudge having to pay such a steep fine. I now feel as though in the future I will just have to carry on my journey regardless of 'Tiredness kills take a break' signs and hope for the best. Thanks Sedgemoor services for ripping off another motorist!
Roxanne, Mon 20 Feb 2012
I was unfortunate enough to have to pull in to the car park in the early hours of 16 Sep due to tiredness. I had already tried to book into the RoadChef at Newbury off the A34 but it was full and they were unable to get my a booking elsewhere, so I attempted to complete my journey. After a good sleep in the car I carried on to my destination. The parking fine is £80 (reduced to £50 for prompt payment) far in excess of the cost of a good room for the night. Its a lesson learned and I will not forget to avoid all RoadChef accommodation in the future. This is just another way to obtain money from the motorist. I failed to see the sign re parking which was my fault, my point is the level of parking fine is way over the top - considering the car park had very few vehicles in it at the time £50-£80 is excessive by any measure.
Richard Williams, Tue 27 Sep 2011
I have visited a fair range of motorway services in the many years of travelling in the UK but our experience of Sunday evening 14th August was that Sedgemoor M5 southbound was the worst ever experience .Having landed at Bristol airport and wanting a meal to tide us on our way to Ilfracombe we arrived at Sedge-moor at approx 20.30 hrs.The main restaurant was in a state of closure with no server , there was a man at the till who was not interested or offering assistance. The Food that was left on the bain marie was tired, dried out and totally uninviting. We went to the Burger company to be appalled by the prices and then the delay in service. The drinks machine (Pepsi)was not operable and we were offered a watery coffee as an alternative. The fries were cold, and the bacon burger was as if it had been swept off the floor and mixed with saw dust. We were the last customers as all the other people who followed us in were refused service as the facility was closed. The tables were filthy, and marked with numerous previous meal leftovers, the chairs were greasy and sticky as was the floor, and was all in dire need of cleaning and redecoration. As it was located next to the toilets there was a constant foul smell not conducive to enjoying was was passed off as a meal.If I had the authority to call in the local health inspector I am sure the whole facility would be closed down as a health risk. What an introduction to Britain for any foreign visitors. For long enough I have been ashamed of our motorway facilities as travelling abroad gives higher expectations of quality, choice of food and cleanliness. When are we going to get our act together and make Britain's motorway facilities something of which we can be proud. There are two privately owned facilities on the M6 going north in Cumbria that are in that category of well managed clean and quality food . I would be ashamed to trade under the Road chef name and will avoid such services in future unless in dire need.
Paul Cox, Wed 17 Aug 2011
I have travelled most years down the M5 to start our summer holiday. We always stop at Sedgemoor services southbound for a relaxing rest and re-fuel the stomach. Our family always like to stop there as there is always friendly staff and a place for walking our dog. This year we were pleasently surprised to see more outside units open and serving us public. This meant we did not have to wait as long and were able to enjoy more of the sunshine and even a soft sccop ice cream from Lovington's.The small site does get extreamly busy and I can only say to all the staff well done as you only here the critisim and never praise for these motorway providers. Thanks Sedgemoor Services Roadchef for a great start to our holiday
Holidayin Devon, Tue 26 Jul 2011
I agree with the below coment from tony ford, i all so had the same problem and i am appauled at the cp car parking staff. I pulled over to rest as the police are always telling you to stop and take a rest if you need to as tiredness kills, so i thought i was doing the right thing. It was nighttime so the signs were not even clear that you have to pay if you exceed two hours!! infact we saw no signs what so ever in the dark!! came home and there was my fine in the post! so much for safety first!

Don't waste your time queueing for The Burger Company's burgers. Once you have stood in the queue for so long you start to question whether you even want to eat anything, you will be served by a surly teenager who really thinks he is much better than all this, he then will take what feels like an age to give you your drink, not communicate with you about how long your food will take, then serve some other people behind you equally as slowly, then when your food is ready he will then give it to someone else, as he never made eye contact with you he doesn't know who you are. So when you have reclaimed your food, it will taste about as good as school dinners did (back before Jamie Oliver did something about them). But then that is if you are lucky, in my case I got to the front of the queue and the member of staff went on his break, and I had to wait for the next surly teenager to amble over and then think about doing his job.Seriously roadchef, give up and let the proper fast food outlets serve FAST food efficiently.

Great site - great service and the staff were fab in helping with my family and allowing us relax and re-group for our journey down the M5.Thank you to all the Restaurant team who were so very patient whilst being very busy with other customers.Thank you

I am a frequest traveller on the Motorway network and I also enjoy camping in the UK. I have to say that whilst there is alot of criticism of Motorway stops many people dont I think realise how busy these areas can get. My personal favourite stop is Sedgemoor Southbound on the M5. I stop here for rest stops with my work and also on route to a campsite. The staff are always friendly and the quality of food good. I have seen this Motorway stop very quiet and on the other hand absolutely over filled with customers. So while the others critisie well done to this stop for making my travelling far more relaxed.

I would like to make two complaints. The first one is the fact that the shower wasn't working when I stopped there after a 15 hour day in a lorry cab, the least I expect after paying to park on a piece of land is the ability to cleanse myself after work. Instead I am faced with a notice apologising for any inconvenience, but NO sign of a plumber to repair the shower facility. My second complaint is the the nonchalant attitude of the staff member in the shop@(19.15 on 11th/Oct/2010)when I mentioned the fact that I had just paid to park and wasn't going to be able to shower. I was asked "what did I expect them to do?" I said "that there were at least 15 lorries outside that have all paid to park and the money they had paid would easily cover an on call plumber" he just shrugged at me and mumbled some inaudible comment. I then mentioned that after he had finished work he could pop into a shower before getting into his bed unlike myself. I could have parked on a piece of land for nothing and received the same level of service. This is a continuing problem with Roadchef, British truckers are treated like scum and as long as we pay to park everything is ok with you. I will be sending my complaint to the national papers with the vain hope that somebody somewhere might actually show us some respect and dignity.

your flushes on the wall are in the wrong place. i sat in there one day when i moved i got a wet bottom. now if you moved the flushes up so when people move. they wouldnt get a wet bottom. so please do some thing to put this right

I am appalled by the action of CP Plus car parking staff who booked us for overstaying the 2 hr limit by 5 minutes. This is really over-zealous!Motorists should be given some leeway as they are elsewhere. This isn't very good for public relations and unless the notice is rescinded we wont be using the site again. The M5 is awash with road safety notices encouraging drivers to take a break and when we do we get 'fined'. A more relaxed approach should be taken and perhaps awarning given - not just slapping a notice on a windscreen.

i was disgusted this morning at the way the manager of the resturant name of rachel spoke to a member of staff infront of customers this is not the first time i have heard her talk to staff in this manner as i am a regular to this site i am a manager in retail and know how to approach members of staff if any problems arise and it certaintly is not in the way this manager conducts herself her attidute to customers and staff should be on a professional level hers is certainly not

Disgusting toilets, unprofessional stuff at Costa, treating people in the worst possible manner and putting us in danger. Avoid!

We recently stopped at Costa Coffee at Sedgemoor Services (M5 South - Operated by Roadchef)for a drink. Floors, tables and chairs were absolutely filthy, full of all sorts of food, wrapping papers, boxes, etc. Furthermore, the staff of that branch cleaned the chairs but also the tables (!!!) and then the floor underneath the tables using floor brushes and dustpans that were also filthy and full of dirt and dust. Appalling standards and a huge danger to health and safety, especially if you have children. Avoid if you can.

This is actually operated by Roadchef and the address/postcode is different to the northbound site.

Going south on the m5 - the family stopped off at the roadcafe sedgemoor - thinking foolishly we could grab a quick fry up we were horrified that during what was an obviously very business time - there was little or no food available and was being cooked on request. The presentation of dry beans and a couple of sausages was rather pathetic. The soup was a dried up affair at the bottom of the urn. The people there were lovely - but I have yet to experience decent quick food - so of course we popped into costa coffee. After traveling on road across Europe and witnessing first hand the excellent quality and presentation (and availability) of food at all the stops we made - why oh why is it do difficult to get it in the UK

Very impressed with the playground and picnic area. Although the playground is small, the climbing frame packs a lot of activities into it, my 3 kids still had to be dragged away after more than half an hour there.

My wife and I, although able to drive, are both disabled. We were unable to park in a disabled space, because there were only 4, and they were all full. Not disabled friendly!!

Sedgemoor Services Southbound Fuel supplier is Total not Shell (useful for those people with Total Cards heading down to the South West where Total is a minority supplier)

We have been to the Welcome Break run Sedgemoor Services and they were appalling. Dirty toilets (in fact everywhere looked messy), slow service, poor food, lots of staff milling around not doing much when they was clearly a lot to do. Avoid!

We found this to be a very unsatisfactory break. The toilets were dirty and so was the restaurant. The service was poor, the cutlery was disgusting and we had to ask for clean cutlery. Tiles were missing on the floor and I tripped on one particular missing tile by the checkout. We use Welcome Breaks frequently but never have we seent such a bad one. We will never visit Sedgemoor again. For the price charged in the restaurant we did at least expect a clean environment.

The description here is for the southbound carriageway. Northbound is operated by Welcome Break.
