Tell us all about your experiences of this service area.
I often travel from south to north England. I always try to time it to have a break at the Stafford Services. It is lovely to stretch my legs with a quick walk round the pond with the fountain and ducks and then to sit outside with a cup of tea.

I would like to thank a very kind man who works at Stafford Services. Today I got a flat tire on the M6 and managed to just get it into Stafford services. As much as I hate to admit this I didnt have a clue how to change the tire myself and was saved by this man who went above and beyond to help. Unfortunately I didn't get his name, but he really saved the day. I was a long way from home and he really turned a bad day around.
Thank you for your brilliant staff!

Recently I transferred my Father from a rehab hospital in Middlesex up north to Manchester. We needed a toilet stop at Stafford M6 Northbound and to my horror the disabled toilets were locked and I had my Father in a wheelchair . Then we had the most horrible experience trying to get him undressed in the normal toilets. Two people in those cubicles doesn't work and we had to have the door open. Quite what on lookers thought we were doing I don't know.
Not a good experience!!!!!

I parked up at Stafford services next to a car with 2 foreign looking occupants who were being very observant of me, I used the services got in my car got home to realise my laptop had been stolen out of my boot with no apparent damage. They have no doubt chosen this car park due to no cctv In operation. Be aware not even objects locked in your boot are safe, apparently I am told if they press a gadget at the same time you ate locking your car it cancels it out. If you pull up next to a car with occupants find another space

Dear Mr Goodfellow,
Could I please request that you email me with a suitable contact number and we will arrange a convenient place for you to be able to park your caravan so as to allow a safe and happy visit to our site, without the added inconvenience of having to walk too far.

Gavin Sanders - Area General M, Mon 29 Dec 2014
Dear Mr Wilson,
I am currently investigating various options as to how we can ensure that the dedicated parking area for caravans is kept just that and I will also look into the pathway from the area to the main service area. There is a dedicated pathway that walks around the edge of the caravan and HGV area however this clearly needs to be better sign posted and I will endeavour to do this for you.
Many thanks for bringing this matter to my attention.
Dear Sir, I intend to take a holiday in Chester and have been reviewing paring in service stations. I am disabled and have never visited your area before. You mention parking fees and time allowed to park free as restricted to 2 hours. Being disabled, I have found in the past that visiting service area can be a problem. Not being able to park near the entrance is only one problem. Some service areas I have visited, it has taken me some time to walk, with the use of crutches, to get inside the service foyer, wait to be served with food and drink, use to toilet facilities and get back to my vehicle. On at least two occasions I have been at the service area over 2 hours, that's without stopping to add fuel. As you do not mention Disabled parking and Parking charges for these vehicles, can you please advise me of your conditions of use, so as to enable me to judge whether to stop at your service area on my outward, and return journey, or need to plan alternative route. Thank you. D.Goodfellow
David Goodfellow, Sat 27 Dec 2014
Please explain the following:-1) Why are lorries allowed in the parking area dedicated to caravans?2) Why isn't there a proper pathway from the caravan park to the main amenities? On a positive note I think that this service station is the only one I have used that has created a dedicated parking area for caravans. That this site should then be spoilt and abused by lorry drivers who seem unable to walk to the toilet facilities provided is very disappointing. If this area is to be maintained in a good and hygienic condition and hence prevent it deteriorating into an "open toilet" like so many other motorway services it will require a level of control and determination by management so far unseen to date!

Dear Mr Vic R,
Thank you for your kind words and feedback in relation to the team in Costa at Stafford Services Northbound. I will make sure that your feedback is passed on to the team as I am sure that they will be delighted to hear that you were reunited with your property.
We all will look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Dear Mr Astin,
Thank you for bringing the matter of cars heading the wrong way to my attention. I will endeavour to look into the matter and look at what we can do to prevent similar problems occurring in the future.
In reference to the rats that you saw in the shrubbery area, whilst the area that you saw the rats in is a long way away from the main amenities building, we have been working closely with our pest contractor and have been assured that this issue has been resolved.
Again thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.
Dear Mrs Powell,
We do provide a safe walking area from the caravan park to the main building, however I will look at making this area more obvious to our guests using the caravan park.
I will also be liaising with our head office to look at ways in which we can prevent HGV lorries from using the caravan park, as there is a clear area for these vehicles to park in.
Thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback.
Whilst recently parked in the Caravan Parking area at Stafford Services Northbound awaiting rescue by the AA we noticed two cars at separate times within 1/2 hour heading the wrong way down the road used by HGV's to reach the fuel stop. Had there been an HGV coming through at the same time there would have been a serious accident. I do not know how these cars came to head this way but feel that some improvement in the road signs/markings should be made.
We also noticed three rats came out of the shrubbery and head for the lorry park, no doubt you do bait for rats.
Two of the streetlights in the caravan park were not working when we left at 7 p.m.

May I take the opportunity of thanking all of your staff that were on duty on Sunday 26th of October for their quick thinking and honesty.I had broken my journey from Lands End to Liverpool and stopped for a quick stretch and a coffee during a nightmare trip of crashes (not mine)and roadworks.I left the service area via the toilets and never looked back at where I had been sitting,I continued my journey and after reaching home found a message from you that I had left my wallet on the table at Costa Coffee. I hadnt even noticed and fortunately I always carry a next of kin contact card in it in the event of an accident. Your duty manager had rang and left a voice mail to say it was safe and I should contact them the next day. After doing just that they offered to post it back to me and it duly arived INTACT on Thursday. A very big THANK YOU to all concerned and it is refreshing to know there is still some honest prople in the world. PLease extend my gratitude to all the staff concerned and consider me a regular visitor from now on when I travel South.
Vic R, Tue 4 Nov 2014
My comment is about the caravan area - compared to the southbound services this is extremely poor. No-one wishes to leave a car and caravan in this dirty smelly area unless it is absolutely necessary! Also can be dangerous to walk through the lorry park to get to and from the service's especially for people with children. also there is no suitable area for walking dogs in this parking area. Why can't a part of the main car park be used? The current area only has space for about 8 units and can sometimes either be full of caravans or even lorries! When this happens where are we supposed to park? Even people towing caravans need a comfort break, not a hike through a disgustingly smell and dirty area!!!
Mrs Linda Powell, Fri 29 Aug 2014
Pete - many thanks for your kind words and feedback in regards to your experiences at Stafford. I'm glad to hear that you find that our external areas around the pond help to create a relaxing environment for our guests.
We have recently had works completed on the fountain in the pond that help to recreate a relaxing environment in the evening for our guests. Hopefully you will get to experience this in the not to distant future.

Dear Mr Sanders, I stop regularly at Stafford Services on the way home from London, and find it a very relaxing place to stop. One quick question if I may, how would I go about accessing lost property on site, as on my last visit I left an expensive item at the services.I hope you can help me to retrieve it, even if only to point me in the direction of how to go about it.Thanks(by all means email me in private if required)
Tony Rigby, Tue 12 Aug 2014
I always love to stop at services and have been to nearly all now on the M6 and this one is by far the best of them all.
Sat outside by the pond on a picnic table to eat our tea and watch the ducks. Very peaceful and relaxing and could have stayed much longer if i hadn't been coming up to our 2 hour parking limit.
Lovely clean services with that little extra with the lovely pond and seating around it.

Dear Ms. Osprey,
Many thanks for your kind words as to how the staff at the site were able to provide you with a level of service that helped to put your mind at rest. I will make sure that all of the staff are aware of your feedback, and we look forward to seeing you at Stafford in the near future.

Hi I thought the setting and cleanliness of the services was excellent. We had a coffee and toastie at Costa. Service was prompt. Unfortunately I left my handbag behind. On reaching my destination, i discovered its loss and was panicked. I cancelled my cards and my hotel found a contact number for the services and my sister emailed costa. After trying the number with no reply. A young man returned my call and assured me that my bag was found and agreed to keep it safe until my return journey. What a relief! The following day I received another call following up my sister's email. The young lady gave me directions to the back of the services so that we wouldn't have to travel down and back up the motorway. We collected the bag, contents all intact and had another coffee!!Thank you to all staff involved, you gave me peace of mind. Excellent service.Jean Osprey

Dear Mr Salmon,
I am disappointed to read your feedback after your recent visit to the EDC at Stafford services. We do offer a children’s fish and chips meal which consists of a jumbo fish finger and chips along with a selected drink for £3.99, and this offer should have been made clear to you at the time of you placing your order.
Could I please request that you contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org with a suitable contact number, so that we can discuss your feedback in greater detail.
Gavin Sanders - Area General M, Sun 22 Jun 2014
I stopped here with my two young children for a late lunch. At the restaurant a childrens' meal of fish n chips and drink was advertised, but when I checked with the lady behind the food counter, she refused to honour the promotion, only offering to cut an adult fish in half. She actually denied there was a promotion at all and throughout was grumpy and unfriendly, much like the rest of the staff. We paid full price fish n chips for my 4 year olds, then sat in the terribly littered food area, whilst again dissinterested staff moped around. The floor was litered with bits of food and the tables were strewn with half eaten food and rubbish. The tables had a greasy feel to touch. Your average greasy spoon cafe or roadside van would be cleaner. I won't be stopping again, ever.
Rob Salmon, Fri 20 Jun 2014
Stopped here twice now and the Burger King on the first vist was great and the second vist was late at night so only Costa and EDC was open. I got a Blueberry Muffin, Chocolate Brownie and a Hot Chocolate with cream and marshmellows (£9.17) from Costa. Wish I went to the EDC as it would be cheaper. Great services but pricing is poor

Dear Ms. Clarke,
I am disappointed to read of your experience on the evening of May 26th. Could I please request that you contact me at email@example.com with a suitable contact number.
Customer feedback forms an integral part of our business and whilst we do our upmost to ensure that we meet and try to exceed the needs of our customers, this is clearly an occasion where we have not got it right, and for that I am genuinely sorry and offer my apologies.
Gavin Sanders, Wed 28 May 2014
On the evening of 26th May 2014 myself, husband and three young adults called at the services - Staffordshire Northbound - whilst travelling home from a weekend in London. We were all very hungry. We wanted a hot meal and we ordered 2 x roast chicken and 3 x meat pie all with chips, peas or beans etc. There were only two young men on the serving counter, the plates were cold, and there was a queue behind us. Little food was prepared and ready to serve so we had to wait a while for the food to be ready. The total bill for the food came to around £34 including three drinks. When the pies were cut open they were cold, the peas were tasteless and the chips were a mixture of hot and cold. Basically at least half of the food ordered was inedible. We enjoyed the view though from the window out on the lake, but then suddenly two rats were seen around the outside bin. This capped it all! It is about time that motorway services gave value for money, provided a good service, were kept clean and were always well staffed and welcoming. On the continent the provision of roadside food is excellent but here it is rubbish - like going back in time to the 60's for instance. The only good motorway services in Britain that i know of are the Tebay ones which are privately owned and where the quality of food and service is excellent - you could learn some lessons from this establishment.
Janette Clarke, Wed 28 May 2014
I would just like to say thank you to all the staff and management at the Stafford North services. I was delayed there for 6 hours due to the adverse weather on Wednesday 12th Feb. Given what they all had to deal with over the preiod inclding power cuts I think they did very well indeed. Traffic updates were a blessing.
Jerry, Fri 14 Feb 2014
Had a really enjoyable Costa coffee. I was meeting up with friends and Stafford services seemed like the ideal place being halfway between us both. I couldn't have wished for a better stop. Friendly helpful staff and a beautiful view across the lake. I will certainly be making sure that we stop here again in the future.
Sam Sturridge, Tue 6 Aug 2013
Nice services, clean toilets, burger king is good, tables are cleared often and not a big que. E.D.C should be avoided at all costs due to its extortionate price and poor food (not just this services but ALL E.D.C) just go to burger king and pick the most expensive item (probabl cheaper than E.D.C's cheapest) and it will be far superior to anything there.
Adam, Wed 17 Jul 2013
Really lovely place. As we drove in we and parked up we were treated with fantastic facilities to walk our dogs. Whilst I left my wife with our dogs i walked over to the services to get a take away coffee for my wife and myself, and was greater by a very pleasant entrance. I was served swiftly and the service seemed fairly pleasant. Well done for thinking of customers!

Today the 23rd April 2013 My husband stopped here to fill up his lorry worth a lot of money, when he purchased the furl he was given a Costa Coffee FREE token so he saw a Costa Coffee there & asked for one, well when he got to the till number 02 operator name 000096 he was told oh no we do not except these here my husband said but you just gave it to me I don't care we DO NOT EXCEPT these here you will have to pay for it, (NO SIGN SAYING THIS ANY WARE)you can only use them over in the services not here. Well as you can guess the lorry will not be filled up there again losing the service station over a thousand pounds a week. What a shame .So any lorry driver'S out there don't bothER with this service station.

We were staying at the adjacent Travelodge for a couple of nights and needed somewhere on site to eat. The first night we went to Burger King and it was frantically busy and it was like your average High Street Burger King, but with higher prices. The next morning we went into the Eat and Drink Co. for breakfast. I have to say this proved to be a costly mistake. The breakfast was ridiculousLy priced, as were drinks; £2.59 for a small bottle of flavoured water is extortionate. I had a very basic traditional breakfast which included a thing that looked like a sausage but had no taste like a sausage. Everything was extra, such as for sauces, etc. It cost me £6.49 for fried bread, a "sausage", a piece of bacon, one hash brown, one egg and beans. My wife had a breakfast bap which cost £5.49.When we got to our table, it was sticky and so were the chairs. To top it all, the food was really not hot at all.I only get caught once like that and for the rest of the time brought food in the on site Marks and Spencer shop which offered sensibly priced quality fare which we ate in the Hotel. Their flavoured water was 99 pence ! I would suggest future visitors think about what they are being asked to pay by EDC and consider the on site shop alternatives for much better value.

A service station unlike any other that i have visited. the whole area has a lovely feeling along with staff whom appear to be happy and proud of where they work.
Tim Mycock, Thu 28 Mar 2013
Stafford Services offer excellent facilities in a charming environment. We always try to stop here because of the clean and pleasant surroundings. However, one unpleasant issue constantly rears its ugly head at the EDC food counter. This is the recurring rude and indifferent customer service received when ordering plus the lack food at key times I.e. lunchtime 12.45. How very sad that this poorly managed area should let down such a good motorway service area.
Barbara Newsham, Fri 25 Jan 2013
Lovely service station with a lovely team. I lost my mobile however the management team were very swift in helping me to track it down. Thank you for your help.

staffordshire is famous for oakcake and they are a well loved delicacy. I was driving back from down south and thought, you know what Id love an oakcake from the one and only place to buy them from staffordshire. There needs to an oakcake shop in the services to welcome people back and past, Its a must, you would be fool not to!!
Natalie, Wed 31 Oct 2012
Stopped off for a Costa coffee and was really impressed by the friendly service that I received! The services were clean and fresh, and I was really shocked to see the lake out the back of the services with such an array of wildlife!
Louisa, Fri 19 Oct 2012
After a 5 hour journey, my partner & I stopped for some lunch at the Eat-In section to find that there was only, what appeared to be remains of breakfast on show. When enquired if there was anything for lunch was told no. Opted for the breakfast at £6.49 which consisted of 1 dry cold sausage, 1 reasonable rasher of bacon, 1 rather sad-looking fried egg, 1 cold hash brown and luke-warm beans. When asked if we could have toast, was given deep fried bread which was very greasy, leaving a pool of grease on the plate! Considering this was lunchtime we felt this was overpriced and very poor service and at that price deserve a whole better meal. To top the experience off the female member of staff was unhelpful and could not even raise a smile....was this due to embarrassment of food being served?! Will not stop at these services again!
Claire, Thu 11 Oct 2012
Stopped for a meal today and my husband had a jacket potato with cheese. The cheese hardly covered one half of the potato, had to go back and ask for more. Also i think for £4.99 you should get at least a little side salad instead of a potato plonked in the middle of a huge plate.
Molly, Mon 8 Oct 2012
As I pulled into the services I was shocked at the number of customers for a Monday morning and genuinely believed that upon entering the building I would end up queueing for half the day to use any of the facilities on offer. However to my surprise the site was heavily staffed with everyone working at 100mph. Great overall experience that I was really not expecting.
Chris Musson, Wed 22 Aug 2012
Travelling back from devon in late july and called in at stafford services. It was not till we got back home (which was a three hour drive away) that i realised i had left my handbag hanging on the back of the chair in the burger king resturant there at stafford services(with my purse, my fiances wallet, driving lic and some sentimental charms from my mom. I immediatley rang the servcies but was not expecting much. However the manager took my name and number and went on a search of the resturant, 20 mins later he phoned me to say a memeber of staff had spotted that i had left it, tried to come and find me but we had gone. They put it behind the counter incase i came back. When the manager phoned back we checked it was deffiantley my bag, which i was, and because i lived so far away, he in his own time, went to the post office and posted it back to me!!. what a lovely man. THANK YOU MATTHEW! fantasic service from you and your staff.

Great overall experience! It was good to see the kids TV filling working and in use. As a parent it makes a massive difference when there is something to entertain your kids during.a long journey. My kids love ice age and were impressed to see it on the kids TV.

We got off at Stafford services after a gruelling slow M6 crawl, due to some accident earlier. There was a queue to get onto the services and it took almost 10 minutes to park! When we did eventually reach the car park, I was surprised to see car park attendants which were directing the traffic. We got directed to what seemed to be an over flow car park, which was on the grass. After all of us visiting the much needed toilet facilitates we opted to go into Burger King. The service was quite efficient, but the price was a little steep, even for a service station. We took our expensive burgers outside the back, where to our astonishment there was a lake that was full of ducks. The view of the lake was very pleasing to the eye, only to be ruined by the small amounts of litter left by lazy visitors that could not be bothered to use one of the many bins supplied. When we left the services there was a massive queue to get back on the m6, so I flagged down the attention of one of the attendants. I spoke to a young man who said there was an alternative root that led to the A34, so we looked at the map and decided to take this root instead of being stuck in the queue.Overall we came by this service station via bad luck, but it turned out to be a very nice restful stop with very helpful staff. We will certainly be stopping there again in the future.
Mary Williams, Mon 23 Jul 2012
we were stuck in traffic on the m6 for over an hour, it stopped being a nightmare as we were greeted with several stewards on traffic control they were all happy although my dog couldn't walk in the normal area due to this being used as an overflow carpark.Inside it was very very busy but staff were working very hard and all looked very happy although they were busy with a lot off dirty tables.we went back out to the carpark that was not moving and we were then greeted with directions to use the a34, then my car broke down and there were three manager's who then came to my rescue i regret not getting there names but they were all friendly, extremaly helpful and reasurring as they then pushed my car to a safe spot, i will also send this to the company

Stopped at Stafford services on the way to Heaton Park to go to the Stone Roses festivalThere were people in yellow jackets managing the traffic, which I have never seen before on a service station car park. We went into burger king and ordered some food, which we received very quickly and were surprised how nice it was because usually the food sits on a hot tray in these places and can taste old.The girls were cheerful and not bad to look at!We sat outside cos the weather was nice and could not believe that there was a lake with ducks and geese!Beware of the ducks after your burgers lolThe only gripe we had was the prices, but that is what you expect in services stations and the outside tables were a bit shiny in the sun.

I just wanted to say that we visited your Motorway Services on Friday 20 April 2012, for a quick Burger King meal on our way North for the weekend and I was very surprised to find fresh flowers in the ladies loos, they were simply in plastic cups in front of each mirror and wash basin and it gave a real freshness to the whole area, I hope that are able to continue to do this and other Motorway Services do the same. Thank you. Sarah

My Trip to M6 Northbound – Stafford Services on 26th December 2011 – 5.35pm.
I was travelling on the northbound carriageway of the M6 today and stopped at the petrol station part of Stafford services which has a Burger King conveniently located within its premises. I felt it necessary to pass on a few of my comments and questions regarding some health, safety and customer service issues both my friend and I experienced.
1. The toilets had an appalling odour and appeared to have not been cleaned in a very long time. So much so, that I felt washing my hands would have an adverse effect. I am sure this must be breaking some kind of health and safety law so I would suggest that you look into this as a matter of urgency.
2. The Burger King inside the petrol station- I waited 10 minutes for my meal. When it arrived, I discovered the chips were extremely cold. Now, I understand the price of service station food tends to be higher than normal outlet’s but I expected to at least receive hot food.To my horror and disgust, I also discovered that there was no Salt/Mayonaise/serviettes on site. The sales assistant behind the counter simply replied "we don't do them things here mate".
I simply shrugged, bit my toungue and decided to write this email expressing my anger. Additionally, given the time was 5.35pm, I was surprised that the ice cream machine was switched off.
3. Clearly on a separate note, following on from the above point, you also have some customer service issues.
And so at this point, it shouldn't come as a surprise to you that I was starting to question the extortionate price.
Anyway, I would appreciate your feedback and thoughts on the above issues. I have attached my email address to this letter.

Use Stafford North regularly. A good service area neatly laid out nice grass area for dogwalkers etc but they seem to be using this as an overspill car-park now (not when I visit which is usually evening time) as they have put ramps in and out of the grassed area. Always nice to see the M&S and Costa that's the combo most MSA should aspire to.
Dr Andrew Taylor, Tue 31 May 2011
One of the best services we have used. Toilets were clean, m&s wasvery well stocked when we got there at noon - same price as high street! if you don't want to sit inside there is a picnic area outside with childrens facilities.

On a recent coach trip I had need for the gents' toilet at Stafford m6 northbound. Having used the toilet I then discovered that there was no toilet paper. I had to go from one cubicle to another in a VERY emabrrased state. Only ONE cubicle in the whole of the gents' had any paper in it! On our return 5 days later, at the same place but southbound, my wife discovered that most of the toilets in the ladies' were without seats, the rest were roped off. What a disgusting state of affairs and a very poor advert for the standard of hygiene in Britain. I will avoid all Roadchef service areas in future and advise other "taken short" to do likewise.

While I agree with some of the other comments about the cramped facilities, I was really impressed with this services. I visited on a sunny day, and to walk out with my coffee and sit by the pond -- replete with fountain and friendly ducks -- at the back was a real difference from the plastic corporate experience of other services. Lovely.

We stopped in the caravan area for a quick break; facing the shrubbery which was between us and another parking area, when we noticed movement in the grass.Closer inspection showed a family of rats happily playing in the undergrowth, unconcerned by people walking through the bushes a few feet away!
Robert Muncaster, Thu 11 Oct 2007
Has a large picnic area surrounding a lake, which is also overlooked by the main seating area inside, so in good weather it's a very pleasant place to stop. The downside is that it's a bit on the small side and can feel cramped when busy, particularly just inside the entrance where there simply isn't space for the number of people passing through. A useful tip if all you want is a quick burger: there's a separate, standalone Burger King at the petrol station which is usually less busy than the one in the main facilities building.

Very nice services, M&S food store is excellent and good value at £1.80 for a sandwich compared for a £2.80 for a sandwich from the shop.
