Tell us all about your experiences of this service area.
I love Tamworth services, we call by on all of our motorway journeys, even if it is in the opposite direction! Last year, my experience there was so good that it might have been better than our holiday we had just journeyed home from. I like how it is dog friendly as it has an outside, however human friendly as it has an inside-much better than other local rival services.

in our motorhome up from bristol we met our daughter in the lorry park of the services, it was not very well marked out for caravans so we had to squeeze in the lorries, lorries were in the caravan part as well. we saw no sign about parking as were too busy looking out for daughter and parking space, we stayed in our van with daughter said our goodbyes and left. a week after getting home we got a parking notice, it shows the parking sign which the three of us had not seen. we were 50 minutes over our time and would have paid if we had known the rules, we would have been more vigilant had we seen a notice anywhere. after reading the reviews here i am glad we decided not to go inside at least our van is clean....

My husband and I often stop at these services as it is halfway between our journey from Oxford to Nottingham. We have never had any trouble but last Wednesday around 12.30pm lunchtime we had a cup of coffee and then walked back to our car. We were approached by a black man around 6' tall in his late 20's early 30's. He stood menacingly in front of my husband and said that my husband had made a rude gesture to him. We had not even seen this man he must have been in a car. He looked as if he was going to punch my husband. and I said my husband is 73 and has had a heart attack. He said to my husband tell you wife to shut up. I said how rude would you insult your mother and father. With that he turned on my and called me an f,,ing cow. My husband and I were shaken up. We got in the car and drove off as we were afraid that he would attack us. We think that he must have been on drugs or something. By his attitude he would have quite easily have punched us or stabbed us. I phoned the Services and told a woman what had happened and asked if they had any security. She said that they have CCTV but it does not cover all the car park. Police seized drugs at this services and it may be regularly used by gangs. We do not feel safe there any more.

BEWARE !!! There must be hidden cameras at the entrance and exits of the car park which photograph your reg plate on entry and exit???If you stay over 2 hours you will be sent a £100 fine. There is no sign, no warning, no nothing. This is a trap. Don't fall into it. Best to give Tamworth Services a swerve.

Overpriced fuel some 19p/litre more expensive than local garages, Burger King nearly £7 for Nuggets, fries and coke, and poor quality as well. Normal "fines "in car park for staying more than 2 hours. You know it's bad when the Travelodge is the "best value" attraction.

Visited the services this evening due to running out of driving time.... Parked up paid £21 to receive a £9 meal voucher to find that the services was shut so had to resort to a Burger King which consisted of 6 chicken nuggets mega fries and a coke........ How the hell did this come to £9. Cos when I have visited any other Burger King that meal deal does not cost £9 so I would like this rectifying has I feel that I have been done.... I was left hungry and very dissatisfied and to top all this I couldn't take a shower as they were absolutely unhygienic and dirty...... I would like a response from this A S A P thanks

Visited Tamworth Services last Friday 6th June, it was chaos, could not get from Motorway roundabout for build up of traffic due to lights being wrongly phased. So services were in lock-down nothing could move in or out except at snails pace.Had to get out of the car and direct traffic myself just to get into one of the many empty spaces. Can't believe there were no staff members doing something about it, seems they and management were hiding somewhere, althought staff at Costa did say the manager had contacted Highways Agency about it, we spent 45 mins to get in and about the same to get out, won't be going back there in a hurry,is it always like that? the place is a joke!

Food and service ok but we have left a child's furry hat. We are now back in Leeds-I have tried to phone and pressed every extension but the phone just goes dead. Why doesn't anybody answer the phone in the café, burger king or any of the other numbers? Will you please reply to this email and let me know if the hat has been found? We will be coming down again next Wednesday and could pick up the hatThank you

I called into Tamworth Services a few days ago to purchase fuel for my lorry. I had to take my Esso commercial card in before I was alllowed to draw fuel, so had to queue twice. There was a young member of staff sat on the COUNTER top texting away, while the other cashier took my card. He/she? (I couldn't tell), took my card, was ignorant, blunt, chubby with spikey hair and basically not very pleasant. I filled up and went in to finish the transaction. Still no manners, very abrupt & not very nice.I went to the toilet while I was there, they didn't look like they had been cleaned for years! Remnants of excrement splattered all over the toilet, seat and around it. There were bits of toilet paper all over the cubicle and pubic hairs over the floor. This is a disgraceful place to visit & would never visit here if I was en-route somewhere with my wife & children.Sort this out

This place is a disgrace and an embarrassment to English Motorway Services. It is scruffy, dirty with greasy tables, dark, depressing and generally a dump. It is hardly surprising that people are obese as the food on offer is generally poor and lacks imagination we found it a disgusting experience. These services should be closed down.

Overpriced. Rubbish never to return

Probably the worst service station I have had the misfortune to eat in, the breakfast was disgusting. The only hot item was the hash browns, the beans were cold and the black pudding was rock hard, and for this you get to pay motorway service premium prices, we were in a group of twenty and all agreed that the food was dismal.
Chris webb, Tue 2 Oct 2012
We called into these services last night to eat at Burger King. On arrival it looked liked the services were closed, so not very welcoming. The Burger King was not very busy but all the tables were dirty and cluttered with rubbish, because of this we opted to eat in our car which was cleaner. The young lady who served us was very miserable and made us feel a nuisance for wanting to be served. She had no customer service skills whatsoever. My husband and I both agreed it was one of the worst Motorway services we had ever visited and will not stop here again. A sad end to another wise perfect day out!

I was so pissed off at Tamworth this morning you know., stopped for quick bacon roll. Hardly anyone on the services had to buy Danish swirl from one place, Earl Grey from another and Bacon Roll from another. Apparently its also normal to take 24 mins to serve four people sandwiches etc and everyone to wait whilst the XXXXXX! fries an individual egg each time. Popped in quick wasted 45mins and turned into the Hulk. I just wont go there again its a shambles and a bit scruffy.
Sorry M & S your shop is OK its the same everywhere but I would move before they kill the trade off.

I have just got home after travelling on the M42 and visiting the petrol station at Tamworth Services. The petrol station is undergoing a refit and only the HGV pumps are available for both cars and trucks. There is no indication of any disrution until a driver is turning into the petrol station. As i arrived there was a considerable queue for fuel. Because of the inability of the management to provide CCTV the staff require that customers leave their credit card at the pay desk before filling up. This is unacceptable. Once again inadequate management is placing all of the risk of computer fraud on their customers. A lot of customers decided either not to wait or not to pass over their credit cards to the insolent staff they encountered. If these large companies distrust their customers to this extent - why should we trust them?It would be a simple solution to provide small lock boxes for credit cards to which the customer would have to key. Needles to say it was only extreeme pressure to fill up that made me fill up their, undoubtably I will not be stopping at these services any time in the future.

I regularly call in here to purchase fuel, and spend an average of seventy to one hundred pounds each week. I have encountered abrupt and rude staff many times, but use the services because they are convenient and on my route to work.I decided today that I have used them for the last time. The staff are disrepectful, abrupt, and traet members of the public as though they are an inconvenience in their working day. I will be taking my business (and my money) to the other Esso station towards Grendon from this point. If the management read these comments - you might want to place your staff on a customer awareness course in an attempt to retain your customer base and your income.

Please fix the toilet roll dispensers. I was on the bog, reached for some roll, and the dispenser opened and smashed my nose. Great, aye? It hurt. Was this down to some cleaner not securing it properly, or are the dispensers faulty? SORT IT.
Also, wi-fi is dodgy. You get it sometimes, other times you cannot connect to the net.
Food is overpriced and not very good, and burger king is SLOWWWWW as ever. Also, if you stay 2 minutes or more past 2 hours, which isnt made clear, its an £80 fine although if you bark like mad at the people who give out the citation, you can get it reduced.
The junction leading to this services is also an absolute mess.
I'd avoid this one and go to another with better parking and more space. Also this one, the tables arent cleaned you have do to it yourself.

Stopped overnight on a long journey. Nice services - not too noisy or too many TVs. Happy to find shower facilities. £8 reasonable overnight charge. Had a comfortable night in our campervan.

I know that Moto have an appeals process for anyone who feels they shouldn't have received a parking notice. If you or someone you know has been a customer or fallen asleep and a parking notice has been issued, log onto the moto web site and get in touch with them. They also have a duty manager available who can deal with any customer concerns or queries before you leave site.

Visited the Tamworth Services on 14th of February to meet my parents who had driven up from Devon. There we met to let them have our kids for a week at half term - they got there early and let the dog off on the grass for a walk and we arrived later and had a meal which was at a considerable cost and they then receive a fine of £80. A ridiculous amount and a fine that wasn't made clear anywhere from where they were parked to the entrance and exit of the building. The car park was quiet and the services where very empty. I am disgusted that you have these charges in the first place but even more outraged that if after a a two hour fee is neccessary then why is there not a sign saying that you can pay for extra parking allowance that would cost only £8.00.
You are theiving day light robbers and you can have your cheap disgusting food and shove it up your arse!

As a small haulage contractor i was discusted with the service i received on the early hours of 24/12/09. It was a minus 0 temperature outside & i was in need of a routeen 45 min break as i was driving a LGV truck.Normally the service is of a very high standard but on this occassion. I went into the main building for a hot meal of a full english breakfast & a hot drink. When i entered in the building there appeared to be no one available. After a few mins a older lady appeared and i requested a full breakfast. The reply i got was all that was available was a sausage sandwich. The sausages were all crinkly obviously been in the servery quite a while.I appreciate it is Christmas time & trade maybe slow but why bother have anyone working after e.g mid night if we night workers are unable to get a decent service. Totally shocked by the attitude of the staff towards a potential customer.Surely the staff would be upset if Moto layed them off because they were nt making any profit due to they er slack attitude to the general public. Or is it because theres no one there to keep them in check.Hense i went without. I them went to the garage & purchased a paste & cold drink, a poor substitute.Katy was a glowing example of good manners & careing mannor for Moto which someone needs to address.I have used Moto service areas for many years but if this is the attitude of your staff towards the public, then i have no choice but to instruct ALL my drivers NOT to use your service stations for fuel or over night parking .As they deserve a decent service when in your motorway services. We use approx 300 lts of derv per day and i am more than happy to fill up at another service provider in the future. Please note 1person tells 10 when a poor service is given . I hope you take your staff to one side & request a explanation on the matter. You may as well close all facilities in the biulding as without the resturant ALL that is left open is Costa coffee, the toilets & gaming machines which are of NO use to anyone in the early hours. LGV drivers work over 13hrs a day or more all they want is a fair deal & politness. Merry Christmas.

We like this one so much that we go for a coffee here on the way to shopping in Tamworth. The staff are very pleasant and accommodating and even stayed on late one day when the weather was bad , in order to serve the high number of customers taking refuge.

We recently stopped here on the way back home after a day out at the Snowdome, and definitely made the right choice! This is a beautiful service station, very green and has lovely surroundings. It is very clean throughout and has loads of amenities and a brilliant selection of eateries. The staff are also extremely friendly and helpful. I will definitely use these services again next time I'm in the Tamworth area.

If i didnt have driving hours to stick to i would avoid this place, spotted the cleaner in the toilets cleaning the Sink and Worktop area with the same mop as the floor, i would assmue the same mop is used for the shower area and most probably the food area too.

What amazing customer service! My son was on way back from Glastonberry and was delivered to Tamworth Services ready for Dad to pick him up. Not unusually he had no money and his mobile phone had no battery. Karren located him and allowed him to use an office phone to contact me, he even got a free drink. Top marks team!

We unfortunately were involved in an accident on the M42 on Saturday. The recovery vehicle and the Police took us to Tamworth Services to await our friends who were travelling up to Wales to pick us up. I would like to thank the gentleman who was at the time cleaning the car park. He showed concern and offered to take our our baggage into the services. He arranged for us to be able to sit in the cafe there to await our friends, 2 hours, and arranged for us to have tea and coffee. At a time when we were a little disorientated he was a very welcome face and I just wanted you to know the quality of staff you have at this services.Could you pass on to him our very sincere thanks. thank you

This place is a heath hazzard.I got a Chicken Tikka curry and it was nothing better than a cheap ready meal. the food looked like it had been there for hours, the rice was not cooked properly and i was not off the toilet all night. An utter discrace.....

Nice little Moto service station. Has Burger King, WHSmith, Marks and Spencers food...the usual moto kind of affair. Also has a little kids play area. Toilets are clean and well maintained as is the site. General setting very pleasant. Would definitely use again.
