I would like to thank Nick and Michelle the duty managers at Road Chef Taunton Deane and any other of the team who helped my brother this evening. My brother is on the Autistic Spectrum and has learning disablities. He managed to get distracted when the coach he was travelling on stopped at the service station and the bus went without him, taking all his luggage with it. My brother was very distressed and asked for help at Road Chef and you were wonderful, helping him get replacement transport and liaising with me to reassure him and find out how to get back his belongings. Thank you so much, an example of the best customer service any one could hope for, an example of going the extra mile to help an anxious traveller in distress. The best of human nature, care and respect for fellow human beings and natural social responsiblity. He has made it home and has a plan to recover his belongings tomorrow. Thank you so much.

I just stopped off the motorway and a silver Landover Freelander pulled up next to me then opened the rear door to allow their two dogs out to foul the grass area behind. The owners sat in the car and ignored the dogs as they wandered around on the grass. The owner/driver of FH02ZDG give dog owners a bad name and behaviour like this will possibly end up with us all being banned from exercising our dogs in such locations. Witnessed 12 midday Friday 11th November sadly. Large black dog. Stupid old owner.

I've got to say this is the worst service station I have ever stopped at. Using the loos was enough. There were several men cleaning the ladies, there was no soap, there were taps with no water, it was disgusting. That was enough for my party, we left hurriedly. All I can say is don't go there, move on to Gordano, what a difference. There is a Waitrose and plenty of nice coffee. Avoid Taunton Deane if you can.

What a transformation at this site. McDonald's and Costa revamped on the north bound side new toilets and disabled facilities. A shower block being built. Well done to Road chef. Also to Colin below, using patronising words don't make you clever don't like somewhere go somewhere else you stuck up little man. Some people need to get off there high horses.

Taunton Deane used to be a nice place serving freshly cooked breakfasts and luncheons. Now its a fast food cattle market serving appalling processed food ,where the management cannot manage taking their trousers down.
A comment from a Rachel Kent below:Rachel if you need customers to tell a company what they are doing wrong ,they either don't care anyway or don't have the ability to perform properly.It should not be up to customers to act as a standards authority to keep businesses in shape.

Use the shell garage. Food is great and everything in the shop much much cheaper. Has offers that are better than supermarkets. Costa is cheeper there too and have deals that give you extras for almost nothing more. Don't know why anyone would go in to the main services

After working there doing 10 hour shifts with only a 15 minute break and them thinking it's justifiable it's a despicable place to even visit

Dreadful, the rough ground parking for caravans is an absolute disgrace. Also after leaving caravan parking area you are unable to access fuel!!! Which overpaid genius came up by with that idea in a "service station"

Reading some of the comments on here I expected to walk in to a disaster zone. Toilets when I visited did not smell in the slightest. I asked a staff member if they had been a problem recently to which I was told they had recently had an issue with some pipeworks but this had been completely replaced earlier this week. The service area is old but apparently due to be refurbished in the next few months. Some people need to get off there high horses. If you don't like a place don't visit it again. Raise your issue in a constructive way and most companies will try to resolve them for you .

Stopped off today on way back from cornwall worst services ever. The smell of urine hit you as you walked through the door right by food was told it had been reported turned us off our overly priced breakfast. Felt like phoning health inspector something like that should be repaired immediatly its not as though they havent got the money given the price of food

I visited your Northbound services at about 2pm on Friday 5th September. st impression was pleasant - with the little benches and seats. My friend is diabaled and found these hard to manage. There were some normal chairs and tables but the chairs were so badly stained (ugh with what?)no one would want to sit on them. Have they ever been cleaned? The food was all right, as was the tea. The smell from the toilets was so overwhelming that I am amazed that W H Smith had any customers. Pity the poor employees.
It cannot be difficult to raise your standards from such a low base so I am sure you will try. Sadly I will never know as I shall not repeat the visit.

I visited costa coffee southbound last Friday 18th July , on our way to Ilfracombe, but when I arrived at Ilfracombe I realised. I had left my bag on the back of a chair, it wasn't till the next day that I realised, so I rang up the services and spoke to Ann who very kindly found the whereabouts of my bag and rang me back to let me know, she even took it across to the northbound for me to pick up on the Sunday from WHS shop...Well I just want to say a big thank you to all of the staff who got me out of big trouble with my partner who was not best pleased with me for leaving it there in the first place.It was a service that was excellent to get but unfortunately it is a service not often given, so WELL DONE Ann and staff and I shall definitely be calling in again as it is a run we frequently do.....Thanks again

My wife and I were returning from holiday heading north on the M5. We stopped at Taunton dean for refreshments. We were very impressed by the cleanliness and the service we received, We were impressed that the young lady working the till didn't stand around when she had no customers. She got on and helped to clear and clean tables. We mentioned this to one of the staff at the time. Most of are quick to complain but not many will bother to congratulate good work. Award needed for McDonalds. Stopped here for some 'fast' food from McDonalds late one Thursday evening. There were very few people around but a long queue at McDonalds. Started queuing but didn't move at all for at least 10 minutes. Gave up and got a sandwich from Costa. The people in front of us at McDonalds had only just got served when we had finished at Costa. Must get the award for the SLOWEST McDonalds in the world! Terrible! Will go on to Cullompton next time.

Why ever time I ask for a latte at McDonalds in Taunton Dean services do I only get the cup 3/4 full..I mean at Ã‚Â£1.69 for a regular latte and Ã‚Â£1.99 for a large surely you should get a full cup.... Sounds like a rip off to Me and bad service.

I never usually complain but me and my partner were so horrified by the hygiene standards in McDonalds!!! The reason we stopped is because we saw the sign on the road, advertising for a brand new McDonald at Taunton services. We thought we'd try it on our way back from Bristol and couldn't believe how dirty it was. It was quite late in the evening and we appreciate that there is less staff, however, tables were disgusting (tomato ketchup and wrappers everywhere), the floor was also horrendously filthy and the staff looked asleep! It took us half an hour to get a small mayo chicken burger and we were the only people in the services!! As i said, i never complain normally but i must say, we just couldn't believe what we'd seen and felt something had to be said!

Well what can I say ! I won't be stopping her again , the cafe is in need of a refurbishment for start, picked up a (dirty) tray exchanged it to a clean one, headed over to the panini section picked a bacon & Bree one of the ends was open and it was hard exchanged that , walked over to the counter to ask if she could warm my panini up while waiting for it I tried the coke machine , no it wasn't working !! There was about 12 cups with different drinks in the bottom where other people had obviously tried it before me, the staff member then pipes up " it's not working" well I've just found that out for myself !! Why didn't they put an out of order note on it??? Still waiting for my panini she shouts over is your cheese and tomato panini to take out? no i had a bacon and bree and im eating in !! the Gentleman behind me asked another member of staff what fish was it please , her reply was " I dunno " she asked another member of staff I don't know what his reply was but her reply was " what the hell is that " turned to the man and said " it fish " !! Along comes my panini off I trot and pick a naughty chocolate muffin up payed and sat down . The panini was still cold and I could hardly find the filling inside !!! I left it and tried the Muffin "made and baked by Mary" well Mary needs sacking !!! And as for Dumb and Dumber they haven't a brain cell between them !!!

Stopped for breakfast nr end of June , and again last week 8th september ; I so wish I could find somewhere near Taunton for breakfast to avoid this place. The alterations have been grinding on for months and seem set to continue for the same.Breakfast is too expensive by far, a target price of Ã‚Â£6 all-in and Ã‚Â£1.50 max for standard coffee ,is plenty : cheapo sawdust sausages , average bacon, and the plates are Never hot enough to stop it going cold . The new format choice also seems to mean extra money for everything. Coffee is well below average , not hot enough, and should be free second cup . Service by a young lady was exceptional , but cooking slow, considering I was nearly the only customer ! Congratulations to the food service staff for making an effort. Toilets are still very dirty, smelly , dire in fact and always seem to be.
It's still a captive market , and despite the usual excuses about location etc, it's robbery .

I don't normally rate Motorway food but my Wife and I needed a meal so we stopped at the Southbound Services. We got about the best Gammon Steaks we have had for years served with almost home made chips and double fried eggs on top.Despite the fact that the place is in a mess as it is being refurbed at the moment the food was brought to our table by a guy who was smiling and very pleasent despite the fact it was probably the end of a long day. All that and a bargain price as well. Well done Road chef

Ordered a portion of fish and chips. The fish was covered by the most disgusting batter we have ever seen, the fish inside was not cooked! How do you do that? I complained to staff who said they would tell a supervisor to see us but no one came and we left after 10 minutes.Not a good experience, would not recommend.

stopped t these services with my 2 children and decided to eat at restbite BIG MISTAKE!!!!! we were served by a very sullen unhelpful young girl and were given half warmed paninis and cold dried up hours old chips ven though it stated behind the counter that hot food would be freshly cooked at quiet periods and it was very quiet, now i know why!! distusting food and disgusting service would not stop off here again and would recommend to others to drive past these services.

I urge you to drive on to Exeter services, this place is awful - dirty, dark, and the customer service I experienced in the Costa outlet was appalling. So appalling that I have written to the manager. Not a relaxing or restful services experience at all. I will only stop at Moto service stations from now onwards!

I have never commented b4 on any motorway services. But after stopping to get a burger at this service s I had to look it up. I have travelled all over England and can honestly say that is worst burger bar I have ever experienced At the empty counter we waited 15 minutes to be served . The 2 teenagers running the pathetic excuse for an eatery had obviously no training .The hot drinks machine was not working they had no coke and when we got our burgers they were swimming in water and completely inedible we got our money back not even taking a bite yuck

I have to say, being a former resident of Taunton and really liking the place still, both northbound and southbound services should not bear the name of this great town. It is, quite simply, SHOCKING. The toilets are outrageous - you can smell the urine in the mens literally as you cross the threshold, its thick in the air. Furthermore, it is NOT clean, it is just getting by with whatever cleaning service they have employed there. I had a bad experience with the Burger Company on the southbound side so decided to give it a shot on the northbound. Well, yep, they do understanding consistency. It's RUBBISH both sides. The gristle in the burgers are totally unacceptable, it is clearly cheap meat and despite the 100% beef stamp they have on advertising, I'd like one tested please. The smell as I waited for my burger from the fryers/hot plate was gut wrenching and I quickly realised I was the only one stood waiting for their food and had not sat down waiting for the staff to shout out the order.
Overall, horrific. I first moved to Taunton in 1992 and I do believe that these services have been NEGLECTED upgrade-wise for all these years. The Burger Company must KNOW they are on to a good thing, charging near-fraudulent prices for epically bad food to a captive audience. The staff were polite and were clean in appearance but I sensed not was all good at the mill, due to comments I overheard etc.
AVOID. Drive on, feed yourself and your family at a services that will still commit daylight robbery to feed and rehydrate you, but I'd say that all others I have stopped at over the last 20 years make Taunton services, both north and south, look medieval in comparison.

I arrived 24/01/2013 at about 8.30 in the evening to find the srvices Northbound closed.Signs advised that the Southbound services were open and this involved a walk over the motorway bridge. Bearing in mind it was -2 and very icy. The Southbound services are a disgrace , toilets dirty and poorly maintained, shop very badly stocked lots of empty shelves and the restaurant area cramped, dirty and uninviting.
I crossed back over to the Northbound hgv park were I was overnighting, there are plenty of signs advising you that over two hours the parking has to be paid for, no problem but there was no parking reference number to automate payment by smart phone. I rang the services and it was if i was speaking a different language and all i kept being told was i had to cross the windy cold unlit bridge and pay in the cafe/shop.I rang the pay by phone service who gave me the parking code (5270) and the payment was made. as a matter of interest paying this way saves you money in this case about Ã‚Â£7.00.
All in all a fairly depressing experience and I need to warn people not to stop at Taunton Deane services northbound under any circumstance, the next services northbound are only 14/16 miles further. The services are run down and both sides require substantial modernising, in view of the prices charged for food and parking you would think a little investment wouldnt be a problem.On a seperate note tell your ground staff that running round gritting the car parks requires grit, it was actualy quite funny watching them drive spreading nothing and no doubt being paid overtime.

Every time we decide to stop in for a nice quick burger meal we can't! I can understand the Northbound side being shut at 7:30pm but not the Southbound! Unacceptable! A coffee and sandwich is not enough to travel on! I would not recommend your establishment to anyone I know.

VERY VERY ANGRY WILL NOT BE USING THESE SERVICES AGAIN , travelling down to cornwall for our family caravan holiday we decided to stay overnite and break our journey in half, we parked up with our caravan and went and paid the fee for our stay and got my receipt, left in the morning nd went off for our hols and 3 WEEKS latre we av ad a warning letter with a Ã‚Â£50 fiine saying we didnt pay, i av my receipt but sum people wudnt have kept it 3 weeks later, i rang them to complain and av faxed all documentation to them, and then wen i rang to check they received it they said yes, no thank u sorry or anything for inconveince shit costomer service ghrrrrrrrrrrr

Met a friend here to eat and then so I could follow them to an event we were attending. Due to traffic they were late and I ended up staying over 2 hours, 10 days later I got hit with a parking charge of 50.00. I had no idea that we had overstayed our welcome and to appeal it I have to produce receipts, which obvioulsy I don't have as had no idea I would need to prove my presence at the place. BEWARE, an expensive stop because of extortionate prices even before the fine. Coupled with long waits at the tills and dirty restaurant tables I will never use this or any other roadchef service station again.

Stopped southbound last weekend - not a bad service area but very small and compact and limited seating areas. Good food, not bad value but again I feel it could do with being expanded to cope with the volume of holidaymakers going down to Devon, Cornwall & Somerset!

Called here on both the way down and back from Cornwall. Felt sorry for site as there were huge queues everywhere, on the motorway and at services with lots of frustrated travellers, which was not the staff's fault. Staff were friendly and polite. Toilets clean for such consistant usage. The staff went to great lenghts to help us out under extreme and busy circumstances. (Never saw any police to help control stop start low of traffic through Somerset - So they have any?)

Called on the North bound 30th May 2012 to get a coffee and use the toilets. I decided to use Costa and oh boy do the staff need a gee up. They are so miserable, whatever happened to a smile and thank you. My wife and I sat outside, the tables were filthy and even when the Costa staff cleared them of cups there was no effort to wipe them clean.Also the grounds are so bare and univiting, whatever do foreign visitors think?It's nothing short of a shambles.The managers need to really look at their efforts in improving this site.

The motorway was closed with several miles of tailbacks despite this services having an escape road we were forced to return to the tailbacks. No doubt well be charged for parking despite bein in a traffic jam all through the service station! Why doesn't this country help out in these situation and help clear th backlog and help reduce extra pollution!

Called here, North Bound, on a very busy Saturday in August 2011. Motorway accident coupled with roadworks caused hours of delays. This service station was very, very busy and had a great many stressed travellers. As all motorway services stations tend to be expensive I was not surprised that 2 costa coffees, crisps, water and a slice of cake came to Ã‚Â£9.40. Although there were many people queuing the wait was not too bad. Tom at the counter was very proffesional and polite and was obviously working hard to stay focused. Congratulations to the staff that I saw that had a difficult, hot, busy day.

We stopped here today on our way home from our holiday in Devon. We decided to buy food from the Burger Company - BIG mistake, nearly Ã‚Â£21 for a childs cheeseburger and chips meal, a bacon and cheese burger meal deal and a deluxe burger meal. The only deluxe thing about this meal was the price, the burger was tasteless and had several bits of gristle in it so I had to stop eating it, the chips were shocking but the diet coke was fine. An expensive awful experience.

When deciding to stop overnight at Taunton Deane services south bound on the evening of the 7th July 2011. I failed to see a sign saying that there was a charge for staying if your stay is going to be over 2 hours this charge is Ã‚Â£17 Please take note that this is a warning to all motorists overstaying the 2 hours to pay the Ã‚Â£17 as if you don't the charge jumps to the extortionate amount of Ã‚Â£80 which is reduced to Ã‚Â£50 if paid within a certain time limit ( wow! ) . I do believe that that Road Chef who run this service station are praying on the fact if you are tired and you don't have your wits about you when you pull into the servicesand you fail to see the sign of which I believe there is only one you will be fined an extortionate amount of money. It would be cheaper to stay in a hotel overnight .I do think it is an excuse just to print money. This was genuine mistake made by myself and to Road Chef it is just another way of ripping motorists off.PLEASE BE WARNED

Went to Taunton Deane northbound on M5 and my mother and l chose a salad bowl for Ã‚Â£5.10 each which looked really nice and full with cheese and ham and eggs but when we actually opened them they had obviously been frozen and the cucumber was slimy and the lettuce brown and inedible. We took them back for a swap and the second ones were just as bad. No one at the counter seemed to care. In fact the customer service was completely non existent. We will not be stopping there again or suggesting it as a good place to stop to any of our friends.

i have visited this site on numerous occasions as i travel past for work. I have found the site to be clean and welcoming. The staff always seem busy but friendly and i always eat in the Restbite restaurant which has had a bit of a revamp in the last year. 99% of the time my food has been very good and i would reccommend this services to anyone. Petrol is a bit pricey though...

I visited Taunton Deane Services last week on my way to Cornwall for a well deserved break with my husband and two kids (9/7). We had travelled down from Reading and had previously stopped at a Welcome Break services in Swindon. With having two kids it wa stime to stop again and the next one available was here. I have to say that I have very mixed opinion but feel that there are some issues that I have to raise. Good points: WHSmiths, Val & Matt extremely freindly and helpful and seem to actually enjoy their job, Matt even gave me a stamp from his own wallet as they did not sell them (even though there is a sign that says they do). Also reasonably priced sweets & offers on sweets & chocolates for the kids. Bad Points: food in the restaurant is DISCUSTING!!! No real choice and very over priced...we went for 'fish and chips' as it was an 'offer' but the fish was like frozen wallpaper paste....I'm sure that it was not a real fish. There were also no facilities (play area) for the kids which I thought would be a 'MUST', keep the kids happy and parents will be happy. There also appeared to be some women (tarty looking) stomping around in a yellow jacket barking orders to the poor girl in the restaurant who was nearly in tears. Mixed feelings but will not be stpping there again.

on my visit to this services i was descusted with the way the staff treeted me and my son he is disabled and i have a hearing aid the lady that served us her name was katie looked us up and down like we were scum and to top it all the food what was very exspensive was cold when we got to the dirty table and when i asked to speak to the manager i was told to wait which we did for nearly 20 mins this services is wrongly run and i espect it to be investigated asap my advice to you all is keep on driving and dont look mback

Visited the costa coffee today on the northbound carriageway on my way home from a break in cornwall. It was extremly busy due to an enormous amount of cars and numerous coaches.I would like to say that even though there was a wait due purely to weight of numbers the staff on duty were courteous and helpful unlike those at other service areas.Lovely Break, and will use again rather than the inferior Exeter services.

Taunton deane is quite good compared to most service stations, particularly the last one i visited which i believe was Sedgemoor with it's two tier car park and it was basically unwelcoming in general. At least with Taunton and the vast majority of services you got a outdoor car park with the main building and toilets etc not too far.. It felt like a right trek from Sludgemoor.

The services shut at 10pm most nights, and as im aware are open 24 hours fridays and saturdays. How can they justtify keeping both sides of the motorway open just to serve the half dozen customers bwtween 10pm and 6am when they open?? Thats insane, the southbound side is always open so strech your legs and walk across the footbridge if need be to the other side.

It is evident from the Costa worker's comments that s/he has no concept whatsoever of customer service standards. We are asked to pay a premium price for what is an inferior product and the thought that we might want to consume it at a clean table free of dirty cups and plates seems totally alien. If customers were to boycott Costa at Taunton Deane it would seem everyone would be happy. The staff would have no job, the tables would be spotless and the customer would be at less risk of possible health implications. In general whenever my wife and I use a Costa outlet at Taunton Deane or elsewhere on the motorway network, they have always run out of this or that which amuses my wife NOT !!!!

I have worked at Costa since around june time 2009, you lot all think that the job is easy but i assure you it is definately not, we are usually under staffed which means either slow service for customers and clean tables or fast service and few clean tables but we can never win with you customers as you want it both ways but when its the middle of summer and only 3 people working it is very hard to do this!! some of us often work 9 hour shits without a break i have done this on many occasions due to the fact of it been busy and not wanting complaints!!! i think the service we usually provide is good and sorry if the drinks are warm but we are legally obliged to heat the milk to a certain temprature which is not boiling hot!!

I visited Taunton Deane Northbound Services at around midnight on the night of 16/17 December last. The car park was, as usual, quite dark and sparsely occupied. It struck me that it was REALLY quiet in the car park. Then I looked at the main building, which seemed a little more dark and desolate, even more than usual. I braced the cold night air, and walked to the front doors, anticipating some warming soup, or other such "delights".The door wouldn't open. I tried again, then tried another, and another. The main building was closed! No notices, no explanation, nothing.I know that there is a bit of refurbishment is going on, but there is no excuse for not having any notices up saying that the services are closed. Not even any notification on the motorway gantries.Has anyone else encountered this? Is this a new policy, or just an aberration on this particular night?

I think some people have misunderstood the purpose of leaving comments here.
This site is not run by the people who run the services and is not necessarily monitored by them either.
If you want to make a complaint you should contact Roadchef who operate this services, or whoever operates whichever services you had a problem at. Actually, the best thing to do is to complain in person at the time - that way they might be able to actually do something about the problem.
The purpose of leaving comments here is to help other users of this site to decide if they want to use a services or not based on the experiences of others - like leaving feedback for sellers on eBay or Amazon.
I was at Taunton Deane southbound services yeserday and the toilets were clean as always. I never buy food or drink there as it is expensive, as it is at all motorway services - surely everybody knows by now that that is the case so I am always surprised when people whinge about how much food and drink cost at services.
Tip: If you want to eat cheaper and better while travelling get off the motorway and go to a nearby supermarket with an in-store cafe. With a little advanced planning you can find these quite easily. Use Google maps - find a stretch of motorway and look for a junction then in the search box enter supermarket and click on search and it will show you any that are there ie there is a large Sainsbury's just off M5 J25 which is really near this services and has had good reviews about the breakfast and coffee in it's cafe. Obviously this is only useful during the hours the supermarket is open but there are lots of good pubs near motorway junctions as well if you need food later in the evening.

One of the few days when the sun shone and we had a most enjoyable picnic in the well tended picnic area here.
The main building was clean, the toilets spotless and the shop well stocked.
We will be happy to use this site next time.

After a long and stressful weekend,What with going to oxfordshire to see my mother who is very ill,And with little time left in this world,My husband and myself was returning to plymouth,We stopped off at Taunton dean services for a hot drink,Only wish now that we saved our money,As it was a waste,My husband had a lgr cappuccion with a blueberry muffin and i had a med hot choc with a slice of lemon cake,Of which we had these as a take away,Total cost of this was Ã‚Â£9.96.only to our dislike these drinks wasnt as hot as the could off been,as i could of drank my hot choc in one go,and my husbands cappucion was very much the same of which he put in the bin,As to the staff they was more happy to talk about netball than to see to cutomers,A lady who was behind us asked them three times for her receipt.We did always call into this services for a coffee,only we shall not be doing so again.operator 491604 date 26072009 time 20.42.06. I leave this complant today 27/07/09 as it was late when we got home last night, I only hope that no one else gets this kind of service.

my husband & I visitedthis service station for breakfast which was normally very good, unfourtunately the sausages were overcooked with very little in the middle and hard on the outside, the bacon was overcooked ot had been standing too long,it looked as if it had been standing waiting for people to come,we had to wait nearly a minute for our eggs being cooked as the heating was not hot enough,which made our bacon beans & toast cold, and the lad that was doing it seemed as if he couldn't care less. Because we had travelled up from Cornwall early to go to a wedding in Reading,we ordered 2 breakfasts at Ã‚Â£4.99 each 2 continenta toast 1 filter coffee and 1 mug of tea wgich all came to Ã‚Â£16.96 minus Ã‚Â£1 for toast so the total paid was Ã‚Â£15.98to keep us going. The date was 09.05.09 and the time was 08:38:53 operator terminal 460594. In front of me was 2 American/Canadian people waiting for their meal and were disgusted. I did notice that they drank their drink and left the rest presumably because it was cold. I don't normally complain and I usually recommend the place to people,but I won't use Taunton Deane again unless I am desperate.

Very, very busy, but staff trying their hardest to keep everybody fed and watered.Cleaner than others I,ve been too.An excellent costa coffee for a change rather than other services (Exeter)cold rubbish.Will use it again on way to cornwall.

We used the North bound Costa Coffee on Sunday 1 March at about 16.30. It was an absolute pigsty! All the tables had dirty cups and saucers on, customers had to clear tables themselves to use them. A member of staff came out and cleared appx 4 tables which took him about 10 minutes, a sloth on valium could have done it quicker. Absolutely disgusting I will not be using this 'facility' again. I have used this facility for many years, in fact ever since it opened. My visit yesterday 8 March 09 is to be my very last visit. The food on offer was appalling, and cold as well, the staff were at best indifferent to my problems What I finished up with was extremely expensive and very very poor quality and value for money. I will not visit this facility again under any circumstances.

Further to my recent mail. The site was not busy, and the attitude of what staff there was about was appalling. They were not interested in my problems at all. Another point that should be raised was that there was no cream on offer for the coffee. Overall The meal (x3) was very expensive and well below any reasonably quality
I had occassion to use this facility yesterday 8 March at about 1330hrs. The food on offer was appalling. The food was almost cold, chips were dry and had obviousy been kept on a hotplate until they dried out. The Bagette I had was little better and the coffee was also not to temperature. Overall I was appalled at what this site had become. I used to use it regularly some years ago, but never again. I like Taunton Deane (southbound) and as a constant Motorway trawler I much prefer Roadchef to any other brand. Sure it's expensive but all Motorway Services are, I'm just amazed that it seems to suprise so many people. Roadchef (unlike others) do at least offer free wifi (which is my only problem with Taunton as theirs hasn't worked for the last 2 months) and their food is cooked there and then for you, a small wait but far better than elsewhere.Thankfully most of my visits are during the hours of darkness though so I get a friendly personal service rather than rushed off their feet staff and huge queues

Yeah I really don't like any motorway services I think they should all be replaced. I am fed up with being ripped off paying Ã‚Â£1.89 for a bottle of water or 89p for a packet of crisps. People should wake up and stop paying these ridiculous prices boycott the facist money swiping maggots that prey on us thirsty hungry and already over taxed traveling comunity. If I worked for the monopoly commision I would have investigated price fixing for water at services stations years ago. How can a bottle of water cost more to produce than a soft drink? And I would like to add The only good thing that has happened recently for us tired and road weary travelers is the slow spread of Marks and Spencer food stores - quality food and services for a resonable price ps I don't work for M and S.

We visited your Taunton Deane Services Northbound on our return from holiday in Cornwall on Saturday 23 August 2008.
The service we received from Wimpey was the worst I've ever had. There were no fizzy drinks, they had hardly any food available, the service was slow, the attitude of staff appalling -I had to complain as one girl literally threw a burger from one surface to another for chips to be added. There were no toys for the kids either. I realise that they had a supplier problem, but that was no excuse for their rudeness, attitude, appalling service, tardiness.
No apologies from them. The way I was spoken to was dreadful.
An elderly lady standing next to me said that she'd never ever had such bad manners from anyone!

Last Friday,we stopped at this service station North Bound. We were disgusted with the service provided,there was not one table clean for us to sit at, our coffee was peactically thrown at us,there was litter and filth everywhere.Hardly the enviroment for rest and relaxation so as to continue our journey in safety. You say you dont' want to here complaints, (how convenient,) unless one can say how to put it right. Solution Get your staff trained in effeciency and cleanliness, and customer care would be a start. I used to work in the catering industry before retirement, and if my establishment had looked anything like yours did on Friday. I would have been closed down by Health and Safety.

Terrible service and cleanliness a lot to be desired. Extortionate prices and a 45 minute wait for Wimpy. No sandwiches in the shop and very little food in the cafe. Absolutely disgusted.

I have now visited the north bound service area a number of times and feel the staff should be congratulated on their friendliness and good service - even when very busy - along with the general cleanliness of the facilities.I normally do not enjoy stopping at motorway service areas but this area is a welcome exception.

wonderdul as it extends from the restaurant to the shop and the people who clear away are quick andefficient. We are busy recommending it to all we know who travel that way. Well done. I am the sort of person who would not hesitate to complain if anything was wrong so I feel it is a rare thing these days to give credit where credit is due. The Michael Wood services M5 could learn a lesson or two from them! They are appaulling.

On Boxing Day 2006 my daughter and I visited Taunton Deane services. We did not have much time but needed a break and a snack. Service was appalling. the staff on duty were doing their best but failing abysmally. One member of staff, however, who normally works in the Wimpy part of the establishment, Sue Feare, came to our aid and was outstanding!!!! She couldn't have been more helpful and turned what was a miserable visit into a really good one. We would very much hope she would be commended for this and we would like to pass on our sincere thanks to her.
