Love the Fresh Food Cafe here, eat there regularly. Staff always cheerful and extremely helpful. Good range of Gluten Free foods available too =) Excellent portion sizes and good value for money.

They have ruined this services, is just a glorified McDonald's now. Took fifty, yes fifty minutes at the Fresh Cafe, to in the end not receive our food and demand a refund. If you want to eat, get of at the next junction and rest at the Little Castle, which is run by Marston's and is miles better. Lovely food, lovely staff.

Well i must say Costa!!! I was served by a young girl that was training and add a flat white which I had inside and it was the best one I have had in there she was polite and sweet putty about the others there was one lady that was calling the young trainee for cleaning the tables which she did not do in a hurry that sort of behaver should not be allowed especially when custermas are nearby to hear that young girl didn't have a clue they was calling her they should be up for discrimanation hope the young girl serves me again .....I will be contacting the head office as no management was any were to be seen ...disscrace!
I agree with others disgusting on Sunday 28th December I think this is a good service station normally but not on this occasion cannot understand how management could think this is acceptable. I do not believe that some sand etc could not have been put down I know it was bad but some drivers don't help the situation just no time to wait for anyone.

Totally agree with the comments on state of car park on Sunday 28th. Absolute disgrace. The snow fell on Friday mainly, and on Sunday the car park was covered in 2-3 inches of ice. Amazing if there were no accidents. No grit or salt or snow clearers.

I visited on Sunday 28th December. The car park was like an ice rink! Literally!! Cars sliding around everywhere meant you needed the driving skills or a rally driver to avoid colliding with another car. NO attempt had been made to grit or salt the car park. It was disgraceful.

Crawled into the services yesterday, 27thDecember, during the awful drive down from the North. Parking areas were all but unusable because of the rutted frozen snow and ice. Nothing had been done to clear the entry roads or parking ares.No-one from the service management in evidence, only 3 or 4 lads from McDonalds (bless em). Trying to get in and park was a nightmare, as nobody had tried to clear the ice/put down grit/salt, cleared the pathways, nothing.We eventually got in, only to see an operative cleaning/polishing payphones! Who uses payphones these days?Why weren't all staff out spreading salt, shovelling snow and ice, and generally helping the appalling situation?How many people fell on the ice? How many car collisions occurred?Management response was shocking, non existent.

Stopped off here on Saturday 27th December. It took 1 hour to get off the motorway, use the bathroom, buy a coffee and fill up with petrol and get back on the motorway.About 4-5 inches of snow had fallen overnight and absolutely no attempt had been made to clear, salt or grit the car park. It was one huge ice rink. Cars sliding every where, people falling over. The whole car park was grid locked - Total chaos.
No sign of any staff whatsoever. Appalling

Stayed overnight. Female shower not open and no instructions on how to access (4.00am) . Drains (traps) to sinks in female service area long overdue for maintenance and smelling when taps turned on.
No privacy area for strip washing when shower not working.
Food served cold from burger outlet, unlike some reviews here, it seemed to have been 'standing' and kept warm for some time.
Truck area unclean and littered.
Overall, not an experience I would care to repeat. Over Ã‚Â£20.00 having been paid for the practically non-exist ant services.

the services itself wasnt actually that bad, i came on a bus trip and we stopped at this service station wanting something to eat, we went to the burger company well if you can call it that, there were quite a few of us and a few ppl had ordered before me, i expected to wait maybe 10 mins but they should of seen from the queue that people would want feeding yet they did every order first then took the next persons order, i have never worked in a place like that but surely common sense would be to put a few burgers on etc and not do 1 at a time, the employees there didnt have a clue what they were doing, i wanted around 30 mins to notice they had thrown our order slip away with another order, i noticed this as people who had ordered after me were gettin their food and i wasnt, in the end i had to get my money back as we was only ment to be stopping for 15 mins and she was rather snotty when i asked for this and threw the money in my hand, will never ever stop at this place again!!!!!!!!!!!!! yet the macdonalds on the other side of the motorway was not fault

Stopping off at the services after a very long drive! The services looked clean and all was going well until I made the HUGE mistake to get a bacon cheeseburger from The Burger Company...
Firstly the chips we're cold and rubber like, The burger itself was just terrible, the bacon was really fatty and the burger meat didn't taste right.The cheese was the smallest square I've ever seen, it was that bad that dispite been extremely hungry after a 6 hour drive I only had one bite and had to throw the rest away! ...all for the bargen price of Ã‚Â£6.49!!Really really bad. Definitely won't be eating there again

Stopped here half way into a four hour trip, needing to eat. It was 6pm, so I'd expect there to be food available. I was travelling with my dog and it was a warm sunny evening, so I had very little time to pick up food and get back to her in the car.
First tried the burger outlet - two staff chatting at the back, saw me and finished their conversation before coming out to serve. There was no food ready at when I asked for a chicken burger I was told "it'll be at least 8 minutes", the server was clearly hoping I'd go away, and she got what she wanted.
Naext tried Costa - there was one person being served, and two people behind the counter so I was hopeful, till it became clear that only one person was serving. There was a problem with the payment machine, so the person in front of me took a long time to leave. In the mean time, I'd already decided I didn't want to wait for something to be heated, so I just ordered a cake and coffee. The person who took my order then called to her colleague - "can you do this one" - she then walked to the other end of the counter and started discussing the till with her collaeugue - no furhter communication with me and no attempt to get my order. I caught their attention and said I wasn't going to stand and wait any longer, and I left.
This left with me with only one option to get food I could take with me, so I headed for the shop and picked up some crisps and flap-jack - I went to find a diet coke, there was none visible, and a member of staff stocking the chilled drinks so I asked if there was any diet coke - she looked at the shelf I was looking at and said "no" - no offer to go and look, no apology etc.
So my evening meal eventually comprised a packet of crisps, flapjack and bottle of water, and it took me the best part of 20 minutes to get it.
Never agin Tibshelf, there are services a very regular intervals along that stretch of M1 so I can't image I'll even need to visit again. "Services" is something of a misnomer in your case.

Bought a meal at Burger King for the family there on the way south. My 2yo threw up before we'd even left the premises and I'm still in bed 24hrs later with extreme diarrhoea. Do not eat there, you are risking your health.

I stopped here for lunch and looked at the menu and thought it looks like Burger king menu but it could not be any further from a Burger King, I am not saying BK is fantastic but at least it resembles a burger! I want for a Bacon Cheese burger meal and the bacon was cold and took out of the burger after one bite! I was really hungry so ate the burger and having paid nearly Ã‚Â£10 I was not wasting it, this proved to be a huge mistake as I was ill for two days after.
This place should be closed down.

Just stopped here for a much needed break on my 7 hour journey. The place looked empty, which at first thought was a good thing, as it meant quicker serving for my food or drink that I was going to buy, even if it was from the burger place, with its doors half closed and till operator who seemed concerned with the male till operator across from the her and what toilet breaks he had. As I neared the atm machine I noticed the foul stench of urine coming from the toilet area, I was almost sick, so in fear of having to travel a few more miles up the road and running the risk of peeing myself in the car, I took a deep breath and headed into the loos, where I everything became clear! The toilets obviously stunk, so instead of cleaning them, the staff opted for opening the fire door to vent the room, however the smell was directed back out into the main dining area, possibly causing a boost in takeaways and allowing such quick service! I am now sat outside where I am letting my stomach settle down so that I may continue my journey, to a better service station where the staff know how to clean.
In all disgusting services, all I can recommend is you pinch it, cross your legs and carry on to the next available services!

We stopped here for breakfast on Saturday 14/09/13. We joined the queue for a (expensive) breakfast. The guy served two bacon rolls to people in front of us and then informed the rest of us in the queue that they had run out of bacon and it would be 10 minutes until some more could be cooked. He offered to bring our breakfast over once they were ready and we got seated amongst the many tables that were waiting to have trays and dirty dished tidied. It was pretty dismal!!!We had to ask for cutlery as all of the cutlery trays were empty.The food was poor quality and very very over priced (1 hash brown, beans, two fried eggs = Ã‚Â£12) and the toast came without butter. The tea and coffee were warm and wet but lacked any quality.Looking around the place we sensed that the staff (all young people trying to do a job) were without any supervision or management such that when things went wrong no one was tasked/able to take responsibility and drive through relevant corrective action. We will not be stopping there again!!!!!!

i had the misfortune to visit tibshelf service station north bond after doing an 18 hour shift so i pulled in to have something to eat and drink after waiting nearly half hour for someone to serve me when i finally got served by someone who couldn't even be if she served me or not i then went back to my car as i was feeling a little tired ( road safety comes to mind ) as a result i was presented with a parking fine 3 weeks later for Ã‚Â£90.00 i have phoned the company that sends out these fines and to no avail was told i needed to speak with the service station but only to find that there is no numbers listed to contact the service station i am looking to pass this on for media coverage lets see if we can get something done about the excessive charges thy charge you not only to eat at theses places also parking fees .

Just received a parking fine for parking for 3 hours. Also ate lunch and drank numerous coffees. I regularly stop at tibshelf but will not do so again you've had the last of my money. I wonder how many people pay the additional parking fee. I didn't register the signs and I bet no one else does. This is just a racket for making money. I will do a freedom of information request to find out and then it can be added to the evidence of why our service stations are a disgrace

I have visited both sides of the services North and South early in january 2013 and also found the staff to be rude and as for the burger co. well i cannot find plesent words to discribe it, i did one complain to the site director who herself was rude although i beleive they now have a new one. I trust she can turn this n=must needed rest area around to make it an enjoyable place to take a break

Car park less than half full but a constant stream of cars into the coach and lorry park southbound. Either poorly signed or there are far too many people on the road who shouldn't be. There is one coach here in the only remaining space. No staff doing anything about it.

I stopped here and visited the burger company a few months ago,first time I have and thought I would give them ago.the staff were hostile and miserable to say the least,nevertheless I ordered a meal to go....back in my vehicle and en route I found the food to be freezing cold,not happy given how much they charge.Thought I would give them the benefit of doubt and called in again tonight (28/01/13).i stood at the counter for around 5 minutes waiting to be served,and again,a non engaging member of staff appeared,looked at me,and carried on doing whatever important task she was doing (there were no other customers present,I wonder why?),as I was being ignored,I decided to head on up to McDonald's at the next services,where I was served promptly with hot food.Never again will I attempt to use the burger company!!!!

Arrived at 1900hrs this evening at the northbound services, to find that The Burger Company was closed and the main restaurant had very little left on the menu albeit with a bit of persuasion, they were willing to prepare something. In the end I opted for the safe bet, a panini and coffee from Costa Coffee. As expected, the staff that served me were pleasant and my order was taken and food arrived very quickly.
The toilets were fine, with no complaints. The whole area was quite quiet with only approximately15 people in the building at the same time as me so cannot comment on wait times etc when it is busier.
All in all, the stop provided what I needed - a coffee and something to eat, even if it wasn't quite the meal I was looking forward to. But on the upside, Woodall Services is only 13miles further north so if I'm still peckish...

my mum has food poisoning from a chicken burger from the burger company at tibshelf north services after our stop there last night, she is very ill today! costa coffee nice though and toilets clean. just avoid the burgers!!! staff of the burger company rude and they closed the shutters while customers still in there so we felt rushed and unwelcome

On the way up to Scarborough last Sunday we called in and had breakfast which I was really impressed with especially the staff, the best motorway services ever!! However on the way back due to the signs to the car park being virtually non existent ended up reversing and hitting the wheels causing us to have to put the spare on and a costly repair. I would suggest signs at eye level not faded road ones.

We visited Tibshelf services on Wednesday 6th June and had a burger from "The Burger Company" it was the worst burger I have ever had in my life, fatty which left a very unpleasant taste in my mouth. The staff in this outlet were surly and unhelpful and after paying Ã‚Â£11.00+ for two burgers and a regular fries I felt completely cheated. Quite honestly this outlet needs reporting and if you have a contact email I'd be grateful if you could forward this to me to make a direct complaint. When I arrived at my destination I suffered a very upset stomach. However plus points were toilets were clean and maintained and costa staff very happy however I would choose not to use this services again.

I have always found this to be one of the better service stations in the country but recently its standards have dropped greatly. Called in twice last week and they must have a huge staff shortage currently as on Saturday I stood at the till waiting to be served for 10 mins without any acknowledgement at all .I eventually gave up the ghost and left. only a couple of days earlier I called at 8.30pm after driving from london to find no food available and all the serving trays had been put away...Hopefully they will get back to their previous standards soon....

This is the best place to stop on the M1 , as long as you dont miss the quick turn to the car park. Always tidy , toilets and baby change facilities beautifully clean and fragrant , comfortable and spacious seats in the costa Coffee area , nice to sit during the journey

11am toay, Armastice day, I was driving north up the M1 and pulled over into Tibshelf services to get a Costa and observe the 2Min silence at 11am. Although staff and customers tried to observe the silence, music and promotional messages were played throughout. The services were very busy with like minded people who had interupted their journey for the same reason. The services were obviously benifiting from increased trade, couldn't they suspend their pusuit of promoting commerece for 2 minutes in order to respect those who gave their lives for the freedom that has brought prosperity today to companies like Roadchef? Shame on you Roadchef!

Costa Coffee was good. Staff polite and helpful. Toilets need World Health Organisation warning though. Absolutely disgusting! Of course whilst the staff need to clean more often, the general public should learn not to urinate over the walls and the floor as a recepticle for this is provided.

I commute past this services every day, and have always taken it as read that motorway services are expensive. So, usually, I aim not to have to use them if I can find anything cheaper.
Unfortunately today I miscalculated and ended up having to pop into Tibshelf South. I intended to buy 20 litres of unleaded and some food for my lunch. When I saw the prices, though, I changed my plan.
Unleaded fuel here was priced at an extraordinary 143.9 - the local average off the motorway being around 130.9-132.9, ish. I put in the minimum 5 litres allowed by the pump - just enough to ensure I didn't run out on the motorway. As far as food went, I decided to do without when I found that just about everything on the shelf was massively overpriced: some items twice what they cost in supermarkets.
There is a perception amongst services operators, I think, that they have a 'captive audience' of sorts: that they can inflate their prices more or less at will because people will pay for convenience. I guess this is probably true, to some extent: I was expecting to pay a little over the odds. But there's charging for convenience and there's out-and-out greed. This place seems quite a way over that line, I think.

I use the services quite often and find them sensationally good. The staff are very helpful and especially southbound they go beyond the call of duty to make sure your well. I often leave my number for the nice young lady on costa but she never gets in touch....not to worry though, food and standards are great.

I regularly stop at these services, both North and Southbound. I agree with the earlier comments that no attempts were made to clear any of the car parks. I ate and drank at the services and also held a meeting with 2 colleagues, who also spent good money there for around 2 and a half hours. I now find that I had stayed too long in the car park and have been fined Ã‚Â£51.50 for the pleasure. Absolutely disgraceful - what a way to treat customers. Count me as a former customer as I will never set foot in the place again. Shame on you.

Stopping at Tibshelf services on 9/12/2010 we were disgusted that NO EFFORT had been made to clear either the car park or the pedestrian walkways. They were treacherous, with cars having difficulties negotiating the icy car park. There walkways were very very difficult to pass on without sliding and falling over, It was all very dangerous!

Previously I have had a good opinion of the Tibshelf services. This afternoon (9.12.10) I called at the southbound service, and unfortunately, I was appalled very quickly at the extremely poor car park condition. It was clear that virtually no effort had been made to clear snow and ice for a long period of time.
This has resulted in danger to pedestrian's safety, and very definitely, a high risk potentially to people falling down and very expensive damage to their cars - this is very definitely not good enough.

We stopped at Tibshelf services on Sunday 5th December for the toilets and a drink and after battling on the ice to drive in and get parked we walked in to coach loads of Newcastle United football fans clogging the way to any of the outlets, who were just stood around drinking alcohol at 10am. On walking out of the toilets we were absolutely astounded to see footballs being kicked all over services. The people involved had no regard for the lights or signs or any of the shops / cafe's in the station. We did not stop for a drink and on heading out of the station back to the car my 3 year old daughter received a football kicked in her face. Not one of the football fans owned up to having kicked the ball, when clearly a number of people were involved as there were balls flying everywhere. I am completely disgusted at the lack of management and security in the service station, and will never be using it again. I would urge anyone to keep going to the next service station. Avoid Tibshelf services as it is worse than a zoo!

Called at these services today on a long drive back from Weymouth.Although the M1 had been kept clear, no effort whatsoever had been made to clear the area leading to the main services building. Cars were sliding all over the place as drivers tried to avoid each other. We just turned round and struggled back out again. The sign on the motorway said "Tiredness kills, take a break". Where Tibshelf is concerned is concerned, its safer to carry on driving.

I've just had the mis-pleasure of eating at the burger company , the most awful food I have consumed at any service station. To add insult it was the most overpriced aswell, beware of the hidden costs when the staff try to hard sell you "extra meat mate" rude and truly intolerable.I will never visit that service station again .

Fabulous dog walking area with a large mown lawn, no litter or dig poo, safe to get to, and with plenty of dog bins. All services should have safe grassed areas like this.

Once again I had to wait ages till the petrol kiosk attendant reset the pump so that I could get fuel. This time I waited so long that I gave up and drove on. I am not alone in experiencing this, Ive had other people complain about the same poor service. The site owners should examine CCTV to see what their customers have to put up with.

Stopped at Northbound services February 8th. I was starving but also on a diet. Told it was too late for a jacket potato (2.30pm) so opted for Chicken and bacon salad. It was disgusting. Old salad leaves, tasteless tomato, warmed up bits of chicken breast and big pieces of bacon on top. No dressing and served on a dinner plate. It was really awful. And the worst thing was the next customer managed to get a jacket potato!

I was surprised to find that the walkways have not been cleared of snow and ice from the coach park to the services entrance. I have 30 odd passengers with me today and I was quite relieved when they all came back in one piece. To whom it may concernas a truck driver that uses your site on a regular basis, I am very dissapointed that you have deemed it important enough to reinstall hot water to the showers in the male toilets.This appalling state of affairs has now been going on for apprpxamatly 3 months that I know of, this does not bode well for your customer service or your future trade as I know a lot of drivers who will not come to your site until this is sorted. yours faithfully Mr P jOHNSON.

tibshelf is a very good services plenty of choice of food and open late unlike some (go to bolton west)not expensive parking (check out some of the other prices and what price food voucher you get)

i parked up at tibshelf in my lorry overnight as i have done on occasions before to find the overnight parking charge had increased to Ã‚Â£20 which i think is way too much considering the state of the place. i went to take a shower at the end of a hard day and firstly the door had no lock and had to be closed firm with the door stop, then the actual state of the shower room was disgusting and looked as though it had not been cleaned in months and no i am not exaggerating it really was bad, then i noticed that the drain cover over the drain where the shower water goes was missing and half a tile had been put over the hole and the smell coming back up was very strong. Then i went for some food at approximatley 7:15pm to find the first things i ordered off the menu were unavailable so my choice was the chicken and bacon salad which was actually very nice and comes recommended but was not my obvious choice at the end of a 15 hour day as it's not particularly filling, also the staff were very friendly and helpful so no complaints there.i personally just think that to pay Ã‚Â£20 to park for 9 hours and not have clean and hygenic services is a bit poor really and something should be done.i have stopped here before but never known it as bad as this and also i have stopped at other roadchef services throughout the country and they were very good, i dont think i will stop at tibshelf again unless something is sorted, i would love to hear back from roadchef to see what is going to be done about this.thank you.

They only sell homeopathic travel sickness tablets. Ones that are diluted to 6C (one part in one trillion, to give you an indication there can legally be 50,000 time higher concentrate of arsenic in our drinking water). Pathetic, it would be more ethical to sell nothing than it is to sell something that scientifically cannot work.

Once one of the best on the network, Tibshelf has been looking a bit neglected in the last eighteen months or so, with tables not cleaned so frequently and on one recent visit to the northbound services, heating being reliant on a bar radiator propped up in the middle of the restaurant area. This site doesn't seem to have received the investment other RoadChef sites, such as Watford Gap, have received recently. I can only speculate on whether this has anything to do with the split nature of the site, where the forecourts are in the hands of Swayfields - owners of Extra - who were I think the original developers of the Tibshelf site.

I had the dubious pleasure of staying at the premier travel inn for 4 nights (nice rooms, good service) but the services themselves? Ineadible food, very dirty (how about giving the tables a wipe down once in a while?) but defiantely cheerful staff (poor sods looked very understaffed).

One of the best Premier Travel Inn's I've ever stayed at! the staff are very friendly and helpfull the rooms are nice and clean although no sky tv!!The breakfast is full waitress service which surpirsed myself and my wife as it was a motorway service area!

Please tell me how you can justify the cost of Â£1:85p for a cup of tea when you only use 1 teabag and a bit of hot water.These ripoff prices are what makes myself & other proffessional drivers give your cafes a miss. Also the service in the early hours could do with a bit more go in your staff.

My son left his phone in the south garage the staff called me and had phone transfered to the north for our return journey and checked that the phone was ours great friendly service clean area and impressive toilets We travel this way regular and always get best service in thwe garage areas

Been using northbound side regularly recently whilst commuting from West Mids to South Yorks. Very good service, excellent breakfast, clean and pleasant: one of the best sites I've visited.

Visited southbound services during early evening - fairly small, not well lit outside and gloomy. Beware the filter off the M1: it's a short filter lane with a very tight left bend into the service area for cars. Loos are OK - certainly clean. The food area was interesting: whilst everything was open, no-one was using them - except for Costa Coffee shop where there was a long queue. Seems their new range of healthy snacks with fancy fillings is winning the day. Overall, an average services rescued by a very good coffee shop with quality products and excellent staff.
