Absolutely disgusting!I am a lorry driver.I parked here and paid £26.The showers & washing facilities are filthy.Someone had done a poo in one shower. 2 others were out of order and the other one the ceiling was falling down. I have taken photos. The sinks & floors were filthy too & the smell almost made me vomit. The Burger King was rubbish too, all food was cold. This is the first & last time I will be stopping here.

What a massive waste of time. Stopped for the day in my truck paying for the truck stop and meal. When it comes round to getting said meal the staff were rude and to top it off every meal I asked for or wanted they had ran out of!! On a Wednesday half way through the week? Then I asked for fish and chips and she gave me massive attitude because it was cool to order!! Terrible stop. Will not be using again.

Very good service specially Burger King north side I enjoyed with my friends a lot specially the girl name Ruchika she served us very politely and nicely super duper service ,

Stopping as a trucker. Toilets are filthy and smell. A full English breakfast at 7.99....I'd expect a cuppa with it and to have a black pudding, or be told there isn't any before its all dished up, on top of that it was luke warm at best. Oh and maybe train your staff on how to smile, they talk to you like you've stood on their grans head. Bring get your own food with you,
Chris Shaky Tucker, Fri 21 Oct 2016
After bringing my grumbling children who were not long awake and asking for jacket potatoes to find only one left. The lovely Holly offered to cut in half and share on 2 plates. Even brought the food to the table. Thank you Holly! You made a difference on a long journey. Travelled southbound 27th July
Sarah Dixon, Wed 27 Jul 2016
Hate crimes ignored. A foreign driver gets his car keyed with fcuk off and the service station staff have no time to deal with him and no interest in investigating
Claire, Mon 4 Jul 2016
The lorry park is out dated and needs a revamp..fresh lines bigger bays LEVELING of said bays ..not nice rolling out of bed trying to sleep..parking slots are to narrow for modern truck..That said staff are wonderfully, food is edible (compared with some msa's) and the showers are clean...

Visited 27th February and the staff couldnt have been any more helpful.
Lucy Shilton, Sun 28 Feb 2016
Visited 15.01.16 had the most lovely service in the Costa. The staff were warm, pleasant and friendly. The coffee and cake that we were recommended was fantastic. Thank you.

Went in to pay for parking on the 22nd of September in whsmiths. The assistant was filling shelfs and was most disgusted when she had to come to the counter to serve me. Tutting and rolling her eyes. Some people don't appreciate having a job. And some should never be serving the public. Thought whsmiths had a better quality of employees.
Mr Randerson, Tue 22 Sep 2015
Stopped off for fuel and a wee at the north bound bp station. The toilets were some of the dirtiest and smelliest I have ever visited. If you can't avoid them, be sure not to touch anything.
TiaraHelen, Sat 19 Sep 2015
south bound sunday 6th sept 2015 AWFUL PLACE dirty, covered in rubbish, ladies toilet sinks filled with dirty water all blocked very few staff needs some management by some one that gives a s**t, a reply from someone from Granada as to the reasons the services are in the state there in would be appreciated
Mandy Gee, Tue 8 Sep 2015
Burger king northbound absolute slow service tables are always dirty staff very slow when ever iv been there always get told its cooking, the dining area very dirty no one cleans it got served raw food will never be coming here again
Tee, Thu 9 Jul 2015
Burger King in South-bound service station on Sunday 5th July. Filthy and disgusting. Food on the floor behind the counter, no carbonated drinks available, refrigeration had packed up, hair in my tea. Why oh why did my wife and I still buy food here? I need to choose my words carefully here, but the indications are that the food poisoning my wife and I suffered over night may be due to the food we ate there.
Zed, Tue 7 Jul 2015
Northbound on a Friday, some parking available for caravans (ie not filled with lorries).Southbound on a Monday, NO parking available for caravans - it took us 5 minutes to negotiate the lorry parking which was overflowing with artics reversing etc. Had to divert to the M40 to find somewhere to park.

Me and my friends was travelling up to Manchester so we stopped by Toddington north bound to for some burger king we was told they are closed at 2 am when they supposed to be a 24 hour service. So we stayed up Manchester few days and was travelling back down so we stopped at Toddington south crossed over to get to north bound and went in to burger king and guess what they closed again and this time it was 3am. I mean what is going both occasions they closed. I asked to speak with a manager and he replied I am the manger.

Have to say that the staff at this services are very friendly so well done.
james, Tue 3 Mar 2015
On our way to Surrey and stopped at Toddington services on Dec 28th 2014.It was easy to find where the ladies toilets were as we smelt them from the entrance to the services. We've travelled fairly extensively and these must rank as some of the most awful smelling toilets! They were disgraceful and it was only mid morning. There seemed to be no toilet attendant either. It was bad enough to make me heave. Other service stations have been good on the whole. There's no excuse.
JACKIE COAKER, Thu 1 Jan 2015
Visited the southbound toilets 28th December 2014. Toilet area stank, many seats were either wonky or missing and some doors were missing too. Not a lot going for it really!
Jean Crockford, Sun 28 Dec 2014
Whole area smells. Left the toilets feeling ill. Staff did not speak english. Would never eat anything from here
sandra bloch, Fri 26 Dec 2014
Travelling South from Leeds, stopped to buy a coffee in Costa, ended up buying a cake too after it was made to sound so nice by the member of staff on the counter. They couldnt be more helpful. very good
Richard Bulmer, Tue 9 Dec 2014
My wife and I stopped at the Southbound services yesterday.
We used the toilets which absolutely stank foul and the smell could be detected within the food hall area.
We bought coffee and left it due to the fact that the seating area was filthy and the floor was covered in all sorts of debris.
The soft furniture (arm chairs and settees) were covered in dried on spilt drinks
the whole experience was awful
Chris Gordon, Mon 24 Nov 2014
Stop on the Southbound side at least once per week and usually visit Costa or Burger King. Always find the staff to be poilte and friendly.
Regards Jim
Jim Heaton, Mon 24 Nov 2014
Travelling South stopped here to get some food from Burger King. Me and my boyfriend got whopper meal from web. Our food was hot and tasty :) and we were serve by very friendly black guy. We look forward to eat there again :)
Dominica, Wed 12 Nov 2014
Got 5 fake £1 coins in change machine, female staff member (grumpy and rude) denied they were fakes. Checked them closely later and they are definitely fake, (not centrally stamped, v strange dull colour, not all aligned on both sides and shallow uneven stamping). No time to argue at the time.
filthy loos.
A disgrace and I would avoid this one if at all possible in the future.
Wade, Fri 7 Nov 2014
What a MAJOR difference between North & South services, Northbound is clean & presentable, Southbound is a Cesspit! Looks & Feels rundown, Toilets are absolutely disgusting and more often than not several cubicles are out of action!
Kevin Green, Sat 11 Oct 2014
The ladies toilets were utterly disgusting today on the Southbound side. I opened the doors of 7 cubicles, only to be met with discarded toilet paper, excrement on the seats, broken locks and blocked loos. There was no soap in any of the dispensers and the place looked as if no one had cleaned it for a week. I stopped here about a month ago and remember the loos were appalling then but assumed a one off. I will not stop here again. I suggest you employ a weekend cleaner and pay her double the usual amount...god knows who is stopping here and causing this level of filth.
Diana Hart, Sun 5 Oct 2014
To the three angels who work for Costa Coffee (Northbound - just inside the main doors) who helped me yesterday morning between 8am and 8.15am. Thank you so much for your humanity and kindness. I arrived at my destination via the back roads eventually and my husband came up by train to drive the car home. You are very special people.
Donna, Wed 1 Oct 2014
Every other Wednsday my son and I and make a trip to Bedford on the way back ( heading southbound ) we stop for some food not being a fan of burgers we always go in to the restaurant that sells traditional food though god knows why because between 1- 1:30 there always seems to be a distinct lack of food though one would have thought this would be one of the times I would have expected food to be there.Today we paid £16 for two lattes and two jacket potatoes with beans ( the beans were warm and the potato not much better. The beans were scraped out of the container and we didn't get much and we're told that was it no more for today .they were also out of mash ,steak pies no chips on display the sausages looked uncooked .This makes me wonder how people who come in later get on or do they just rely on the burger franchises . The quality of food is sub standard and I would expect better .
John Bowen, Wed 17 Sep 2014
Thank you to the young man in the coffee shop who helped me find my way back to Devon today as I had taken a wrong turn. He spent time to google it on his phone for me so I could get on to the right motorways.
Norma Ferguson, Thu 4 Sep 2014
My family and I stopped off on our way home from Kent to eat in your burger king restaurant. I ordered a chicken royale meal. The lettuce was absolutely disgusting. It was brown, sweaty and looked as if it was several days old, not at all fresh! I have taken photographs of the lettuce but I don't seem to be able to attach them.I have also tried to complain to Burger King themselves but can not find a direct e-mail address so if you have one can you please e-mail it to me.
Lisa, Sun 31 Aug 2014
My Husband, Brother and I dropped into the northbound service station for some food at 8pm on 4th August. To be honest we were not expecting much. We all choose Chicken, Chips with a lovely gravy and a side Salad. It was really good. We all really enjoyed it, the chicken was well cooked and there was lots of it. The gravy topped it off very nice. I would recommend it to anyone.
We thanked the ladies who had served us and they were so pleased to get a positive response. They asked if we could share our comments online.
Helen, Mon 11 Aug 2014
Called southbound on Sunday 3rd August. Waited in Costa behind 4 people who also just wanted coffee, and service took 20 minutes as the only person who could understand English was clearing the tables ! Bought the Sunday Times for the usual £2.50p to find later that the magazine and the "Culture" paper missing. ( Do the Sunday Times not supply these to service stations ? Also no soap in any of the toilet dispensers. Compared the French service stations, we are a disgrace !

Stopped over for a bite with the family at around 23:30 on 30/07/14, waited for five minute at the food counter and no one was present to serve us. we decided to go to Burger King instead. As we left a lady did appear behind the counter and did not even ask if we were waiting to be served.at Burger king the service was alright but the state of the place appalling. The floor was littered and the tables had rubbish left on them. When I pointed this out at the service counter I was told "we are very busy". Too busy to keep the place clean and fit for human use ?? (I have photos)Advice: AVOID!
Rupin Singh, Thu 31 Jul 2014
The car park spaces (for the northbound services) nearest the motorway are completely impractical .. They are the wrong way round for driving straight into. Can they be reprinted?
Nicola Taylor, Sun 20 Jul 2014
I thought that you are a SERVICES station IE rest place to refresh...I THINK NOTafter working (as a Volunteer) for 20 hours i needed a rest ... Only to find that resting here has cost me £100.00 OOO Bargain I THINK not..Would it be better that I carry on driving and KILL some other poor sod trying to get on with their life...I WILL NEVER SPEND ANOTHER PENNY WITH YOU... I find your lack of the real world compassion VERY distasteful ..Please note that I will do my VERY best to make sure that all the souls i know AVOID you and ask them to pass it on to there friends..I Know this means NOTHING to you but I am APPALLED by this..
STIRLING JOY, Thu 17 Jul 2014
stopped at services m1 toddington, used toilets they were filthy,,and went to wash my hands tried every dispenser there being no soap in any whatsoever ,not even a measly drop, absolutley disgusting!!! the sight of people using toilets not washing hands spreading germs throughout.I approached the site manager and brought up this concern ,she said oh i will let the cleaners know,no appology, after also speaking with coffee attendent she said the portugese attendents were more concerned about there appearance than looking after toilets.Frankly i think its the managers responsibility to ensure toilets are up to scratch. This was my first visit ,and definetly my last.p.s sorry about my spelling.

On my way to London and popped in for a loo stop and a coffee, only when i reached my destination did I realise I had left my wallet in the costa. In a state of panic a managed to get hold of a contact number for the duty manager a Elizabeth who could be more helpful. To my amazement in this day and age the wallet was kept safe until i was able to collect it later that day. Cant express my gratitude enough, will definately make this my destination of choice in future.

Stopped today (30.06.2014) on our way back from London. Although I cannot fault the Service Station or the food we consumed I have to say that to charge me for a sachet of Tartar Sauce at 25p on top of the £20.00 I had already spent on food and drink I felt was rather taking liberties.Just a suggestion maybe think about one free sachet per guest who brought hot food.Thank You.

Stopped today some sort of free car check on site. Excellent idea what a great site manager to offer this service The managers here are a credit to your business.

I work at another service station and come across the 'different change on receipt' issue quite a bit. It's an easy mistake to make, sometimes you press the wrong button and it says on the receipt that the customer gave a greater amount of cash than they did. At the end of the shift, a log of every transaction including the shift takings is sent to the admin/manager/office that deals with the cash (depends on store). As long as the correct amount in change is given ie you received £5 back nothing is wrong - the cash/till checker person will flag up very quickly if there is less cash in the till then there should be.
As a summary: someone buys 2 chocolate bars, a drink and newspaper totalling £3.60. They give the cashier £10 and receive £6.40 back in change but the cashier accidentally put the £10 through as a £20. As long as that till is [float amount]+3.60 at the end of the shift, all is well. It is very easy to see if an extra £10 has been taken when it is counted. If there is a till variance, a full investigation is made including CCTV checking.
So an incorrect receipt in that way is highly unlikely to indicate criminal activity. It is, however, polite to inform the customer that you pressed the wrong button causing their receipt to be wrong.
Anon, Fri 6 Jun 2014
Paid for £5.01 of fuel with a £10 note at a till which was manned by an assistant who claimed it was malfunctioning, so he invited the customer in front of me to come to one of the other tills. He processed the customer using this other till, whilst at the same time calling out to another assistant in a back room that he was using his till to complete a card transaction. A moment later a second sssistant came out of the back room and went to the other assistants till and called me forward to deal with me. I handed the assistant my £10 note, was given a reciept and left to return to my vehicle at pump 9. The time of my transaction is given as 12.50pm , shift 2126, transaction number 584132 on Till 1. It states that the operator who served me wss Colin Roberts, but the assistant who served me did not sign in on the other sssistants till, so this immediately drew my attention to suspicious behaviour.
Upon returning to my vehicle, I checked the receipt I had been given by the dodgy assistant and discovered something very peculiar...
It stated that I had given the assistant a £50 note, and he had given me back £45.01 change which of course was wrong. At that time I had stumbled upon a scam being run by one or more assistants - on this occasion, they had taken £45.01 out of the tills float...
I am a former convicted criminal, you can read about my past at the following web site:-
Jeremybamberforum.co.uk
I will be highlighting these events on my site, and posting a copy of the aforementioned reciept...

EDC service is shocking!!!!! Looks like they are on a holiday not bloody working!!!!! Stood there for about 5-7 minutes even though there wasn't any queue, the young lady staff at the hot food counter seemed like she needs to go on for customer service training.she completely blanked us. Then finally we got served! Food was ok!!!!

I'm sure it will most likely be truckers to blame

About costa coffee.
My partner and I went to costa at Moto Hospitality in the M1, Toddington Beds LU5 6QG and ordered 2 hazelnut lattes. The only way to describe the coffees is 'fricking awesome'. We were served by a girl called Tasha, she made the best costa coffee we've had in a long time. The milk was properly frothed, foamy, with an excellent consistency, and she put just the right amount of coffee. She's totally made my day, I enjoyed every single sip of it, absolutely amazing and brilliantly and professionally done. I can't get over it. If she could just go around other costas to teach most of them a thing or two about making a proper coffee. We can't praise her high enough, not only a superb dream coffee, but also a lovely polite girl. Can't wait till next time we go over to doncaster to stop there for one of her coffees. We loved it so much that on the way back we stopped to buy another one. People like her make it worth every penny to buy your coffees. I'm a professional barista myself so I can tell when someone makes a brilliant coffee, and oh my god, this was amazing and perfect. You have a star working there, a godsent angel to rescue us from mediocre coffee who made our day. Really, we can't praise Tasha high enough. All the best, Angela and Ben

I'm very grateful that the shower facilities are free but it would e nice for them to be cleaned on a regular basis. The smell is awful and the inch of water on floor makes it very difficult to get dried and dressed

Stopped southbound on the way to London with wife and kids. Went to Burger King & then costa for take away. In both stores the service was good with people who looked like they wanted to be at work.
Food and drink good too, would recommend.

The food available at Toddington is a disgrace. There is only junk food available and even that looked totally unappetising on the Eat and Drink counter. Comparing the food available at UK service areas to what is available in most Western European countries is almost impossible because our food is unhealthy rubbish. I wouldn't even expect my dog to eat it. They have probably never even heard of salad. Apart from the disgusting food the upgrade at Toddington is reasonable, although the Gents toilet is poor and some of the washing facilities don't work.My comments regarding the food are sadly applicable to all the service areas I have used in the UK.BARRY THOMAS.

I stopped off at Toddington North this morning after flying in from America, it had been a long night and I needed a coffee! The two young girls serving at the front costa just beside the entrance were very polite and friendly considering it was 8oclock in the morning. I appreciate the helpfulness of these two girls as I know they're underpaid and over worked.

25th november southbound. 3 weeks now not all toilets are working. no soap for washing hands... entrance to the lobby how do there get clearance from the fire brigade its cluttered obstacles in the way. especially for the krispy kreme if yhere was a fire you would not escape easily. .. overall rubbish. lorry park uneven road but you cant expect much even for the overnight charges.this is 1 place ill only stop again if in desperate need.

Burger kings food is over priced and degusting, felt ill for the rest of the eveing and this happens every time i eat there. Also the whole place closes for a shift change at 10.30 until 11.00 crazy. On this Basics i will aviod using the services again.

Visited on Monday 28 October- the toilets were very clean . But after along journey, arriving at 20.00 wanting a meal we were offered one battered fish, 3 sausages or 4 small pieces of scampi- and we were told there was nothing more! How about using a microwave? Ordering more food? The burger bar was untidy, paper and cartons on the floor, generally unwelcoming
Corbett, Wed 30 Oct 2013
Visit 25th October 2013 11.30am, 2 adults and 1 child. Unfortunately very disappointed again. We had vowed not to come again but my daughter needed to stop. As there is no visible customer services or management we could not complain at the time. The costa coffee area still very dirty, old food in the floor and tables not cleared. Ladies toilets also in a pretty bad state of repair but to make matters worse workmen in the ladies loo! No warning signs or apologies. I witnessed several women walk in and walk straight back out again when they saw them and my 5 year old daughter also felt very uncomfortable. It may not seem like a big thing but could be culturally very insensitive. One bad visit can be put down to mistakes but the same cleanliness issues 6 months on are really inexcusable. It wasn't a busy day by any stretch of the imagination, a maximum of 12 customers in the dining area. Sadly we won't be back to see if you decide to improve.
Rebecca martel, Fri 25 Oct 2013
I arrived this evening to park up for the night after being on the road all day! As I've never been here before I asked at the whs store how to pay and get ticket for the overnight parking, after waiting for the lady... VICKY STEAD to serve me for 5 mins I was confronted by a nasty attitude, I asked how much it is, she just grunted at me and didn't explain anything! £20 she said, food she said! After being on the road all day the last thing you want to do is be spoken to like a piece of dirt, if I had understood and had it been explained to me that you can get a voucher for food included in the payment then no problem!! Money is no issue but the fact of being spoken to like that, when she has a duty to deal face to face with customers... It's discussing!! And the game happened to the next bloke in the queue! Her attitude better have changed the next time I come here and I will take this further if I don't have a reply!! Thank you. Mike
Michael scott, Thu 3 Oct 2013
Visited costa, although they were as always very very busy, i love the fact that the staff never seem stressed and are always polite, these people work long hours with rubbish wages and i have the upmost respect for them, for those being negative on here, you are clearly british and have to have a moan to make you feel superia, get a life ! marks and spencers staff were impeccable too
Scarlett, Mon 9 Sep 2013
We have visited this service station several times and with an 8 month old baby I would not recommend stopping here with a baby! One baby changing room is not sufficient for a busy service station on a weekend. On visiting today there was a queue of three mums and babies in front of me and when I got in there the nappy bin was broken so therefore left open which created a horrible smell! The toilet had no toilet seat and the services generally could do with updating and freshening up!
Anna, Sat 24 Aug 2013
Dear Mr Lambert,
Many thanks for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent visit.
First of all I would like to apologize for your experience.
As you point out there was an accident on the M1 on Monday causing significant delays, often following road closures the services experience high volumes of customers in a very short period of time.
However I have fed back your comments to the cleaning team to ensure extra focus is placed on the toilets at busy times.
many thanks
Rob O'Connell General Manager
Robert O'Connell, Wed 14 Aug 2013
Having spent 1 1/2 hours sitting on the M1 last evening due to an accident, I was pleased to call into the Toddington services (south bound). But when I got to the Gents toilet I was horrified, it had to be the most disgusting toilet I've been in. The cubicle wash awash, I had to roll my trousers up to stop the wicking effect, and the smell of stale urine was so overpowering I couldn't get it out my nostrils fo ages.I appreciate that a lot of the condition of toilets is due to the fact many people have not been brought up properly, but I do feel that cleaners should be on hand to keep facilities fresh. The only bonus was that the experience turned my stomach so much I didn't have to fork out an extortionate amount on a meal.
Hedge row for me next time
John lambert, Mon 12 Aug 2013
What a ridiculars hike on the food vouchers Moto have done as i for one will not use any Moto services exept in sheer desperation and then only put minimem fuel in to get me by Seem you dont need wagon drivers any more. You used to give us an option of a Burger King but now limit that to a small pokey option that would not satify a small child As for overnite parking well thats ok if you want disturbed nites and poor washing facilities. Not normally a negative person but this did get to me and many other wagon drivers i have spoken too. On a plus note the guys who wash the trucks are diamond

ive used toddington services today (19th may) on our way to lutonand to say i was disgusted with the toilet facilities is putting it mildly - we were there quite early 6.30 am ishtoilet doors didnt lock - they didnt look like they had been cleaned for a week -i thought the idea of the services was for motorists to have comfort stopswhat a joke then to top it off the cash machines wanted 1.99 from me to take some cash out of my account !!!so i didnt bother !!please will you employ some cleaners to upgrade your standard because its sorely needed
sue hadley, Mon 20 May 2013
Overall toddington is old and outdated. The lorry park is a disaster with no control over the separation of fridge units making it too noisy to sleep overnight. The recent increase in the amount of litres for a food for fuel voucher now makes it not worth bothering to be honest. Myself and many other drivers used to try and make a point of using moto but not anymore. If anybody can be bothered to work it out you will find that based on your fuel prices we would need to spend approx £2000 on fuel to get a breakfast, ridiculous !
John Pahnke, Thu 16 May 2013
After working for hours doing a night driving shift my partner puled in for a break and something to eat, when he got to the counter the man behind the counter walked away before he could order, eventually he returned and when my partner asked to see the piece of chicken they had the man suked his teeth and said suppose so, put it on a plate and proceeded in trying to break the hard potatos up and putting them on the plate too. My partner said he only asked to see hte chicken first before ordering and he didnt want anything with it just the chicken, to be told "give £10.00 and you an look at it all you like " My partner asked to speak to the manager who ame out asking what the problem was and when he was told he said "tuff I am going on my break" and walked off !!
£10.00 for a hicken dinner is disgusting anyway but £10.00 for just a piee of chicken is an outrage, and to be spoken to in such a way if far far worse.
Horrendous service, extortionately priced food, Terrible experience.

Called in to Toddington services on my way home to Northamton on Sunday 21/4/13. The staff in M&S were extremely pleasant and helpful and Hassan even carried my 4 bags of shopping to my car. Excellent customer service.

Pulled in for the night after a 13 hour day and looking forward to a hot meal.Paid my parking fees and duly went to the EDC and asked for The Yorkshire Pudding and Sausages/mash. Sorry none left was the reply. As I browsed the menu boards he served a guy with Curry and Rice. OK, I ordered the same. That was the last of the curry was the reply. I've got a Pie with some chips left if you want that!I declined and rang the number on the sign whith the smiling manager on. Well I got the answer machine which told me they were not avaialble but to ring other numbers (try remembering them if you can!) Anyway left a message but as yet no reply.
I then decided to complete the feedback form on their website. After 10 miniutes of completing it, you press the send button and it throws you back to the start again!!!!
NOT IMPRESSED, STILL HUNGRY, WILL DO MY BEST NPOT TO VISIT THESE SERVICES AGAIN IF IT IS AT ALL POSSIBLE!! SERVICE IS THE WORST OF ALL THE MOTORWAY SERVICE THERE IS.

I had lost my I phone at the services and decided to ring the duty manager to see if my phone had been located. The duty manager was very polite and professional and done everything to help me I think her name was leann . Even though I had lost my phone and they were una le to locate it I will stop here again

I stopped at toddington north services at the weekend and have to say the staff in whs were very helpful and polite I had a very stressful morning so decided to pull over I have to say im very very pleased I did. Both members of staff were happy n ready to help me when enquiring into a magazine . I will be stopping here again thank you to the two ladies who helped and made my day.
ruth, Thu 7 Mar 2013
I recently dropped my wallet at the Northbound services. I phoned an hour or so later when I realised the loss. It had been found and handed in to your duty manager. She was very helpful in making arrangements for a friend to collect it. Thank you.
PW, Tue 5 Feb 2013
First and foremost thanks for your comments, to clarify there was a rodent spotted in the dining area, the unit was closed and the incident was dealt with by our pest control experts. In addition to this a deep clean of the area was also carried out before reopening.

Ewwww! Rats running around the floor in Burger King! RATS!!
I'm sure it doesn't help that the floor was pretty filthy, with food everywhere.
Tony, Sat 26 Jan 2013
Was very impressed car park was gritted, staff friendly and loads of food offers. When you hear schools and other places closing due to the snow it was great to see that a service station can still open. Even had a clothes shop as well. Well done Toddington.
Charlie, Sat 19 Jan 2013
Called in last night ..the roads were realy bad as it had been snowing ..NO watering cans with water to refill washer bottles etc.Derty screens on motorway very dangerous...also very dirty and scuffy
Mr Draycott, Thu 17 Jan 2013
From Thursday 10th January there will be a Greggs at Toddington North Bound. John HammGeneral Manager
John Hamm, Tue 8 Jan 2013
We stopped at the southbound petrol station at 10.45pm to be denied fuel by staff as they were closing at 11pm....,the petrol station was still within opening hours but staff refused to authorise the pump as I can only assume they couldn't be bothered to work the last 15 mins of their shift, forcing us to drive on low fuel to find another petrol station.....beware! Disgusting service.
Anon, Fri 28 Dec 2012
Place packed but still got good service
Barrie, Fri 28 Dec 2012

Dear George
Please rest assured we do have a pest control contractor and action is always in place to tackle any pest activity outside. All our stock is securley kept inside. If you wish to discuss further please contact me on 01525878412.

02.45 AM Just been to pay my £20.50 for parking and had to dodge past 6 very large rats near the entrance and on the way out i counted 7. Having been brought up on a farm it is,nt the first time i have came across a rat but i never in my life seen ones so big. They were gathered around bread trays near the entrance and when i got close they scurried into holes in the shrubbery near the door. I cant beleive there is no pest control, where there is so much food sold. God forbide that a child would touch something that a rat had pissed on. Pure disgrace...

I POPPED INTO TODDINGTON SERVICES SOUTHBOUND, WAS DISGUSTED AT THE PRICE OF YOUR FUEL, CAN YOU BELIEVE DEARER THAN LONDON AND THE DISABLED TOILET STUNK SO BAD OF STALE WEE, YOU HAD TO TRY TO HOLD YOUR BREATH I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN.
A LAWRENCE, Tue 30 Oct 2012
Bedfordshire Police were made aware of a potential scam at Toddington Service Station on the M1 involving a woman asking motorists for money to pay for fuel. Two people have been spoken to by Bedfordshire Police in regards to these incidents and subsequently banned from entering Toddington Service Station by the site management.
Simon, Mon 15 Oct 2012
With reference to the fuel scam. Someone needs to report this to the police, as until this happens no crime has been committed. The services can't as the police do not see them as the victim.
Anonymous, Mon 8 Oct 2012
Approached yesterday Toddington services Northbound 2/10/12 about 1800hrs by a quite pretty and tidy female, she asked me for money as she had no means to pay to fuel her car up the other side south bound.
Unfortunately for her due to my 'knowledge and profession' told to ‘go away’She had all the hallmarks of a heroin addict. What a scum bag wont forget your face darling………get a job....
TODDINGTON WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO LET PEPOLE KNOW ABOUT THIS SCAM
P.CHILD, Thu 4 Oct 2012
please let me know if you found my white Samsung S3 that i lost on Sunday 23rd Sept in the evening, I will be most grateful

I purchased Cod & Chips from your hot food counter on Friday 21st September. The food was not acceptable, horrible in fact, enough to drive away custom. I was disgusted enough to take photographs of the thick yellow gunge layer underneath the spongy batter. As for setting an example of british motorway food for foreign visitors, I would be ashamed and have great difficulty defending it.Generally I dont complain its not what I do...but this needed to be voiced.
What can be done to improve this?staff training - management visits to inspect and test food - please tell me!If you would like to see my photos, then I will gladly send them.
Nigel, Tue 25 Sep 2012
Had a great coffee. Friendly staff.
Peter, Tue 18 Sep 2012
Went to get a coffee from Costa and they didn't have soya milk. Bad show really seeing as they advertise that all you have to do is ask for it. I asked and they had run out.
Michelle, Sun 16 Sep 2012
If a young lady approaches and asks for money, because she has filled up with petrol and has not got any money, don't hand any over. She may say, that she has asked the police for help and they are unable too. Today, I was asked by a lady and said no. I then watche as she went around asking everyone else. I started to feel sorry for her and walked over to catch her up. Lucky for me, she then got into a car with a guy driving and speed away. With CTTV on the site, I can't believe this is still taking place. Don't part with your money.
J Porter, Thu 13 Sep 2012
At last Toddington M1 north bound has allocated parking for caravans. They seemed to have spent a lot of money on this service area. Good to see the investment.
Lewis, Sun 9 Sep 2012
Went in today was amazed to see so many offers and they had a Cotton Traders. Cant fault the place.
Dave, Sat 8 Sep 2012
Dirty tables and floor. Ladies, sveral cubilcles with no seats, lock broken, floor dirty and litter strewn. A horriblr experience. I will avoid it in future.
Mrs P Manton, Thu 30 Aug 2012
I'm getting fed up with people asking me for money beacuase they've ran out of petrol. I may have to avoid these services in future.
Tom Burton, Tue 28 Aug 2012
The staff at costa coffee were very rude and the overall area was very un clean
Mary, Sun 26 Aug 2012
Ladies toilets had many broken toilet seats, and those which did not some cubicles had door locks brokenLady next to me said the same thing
Really needs urgent work does not give good impression to visitors
This was on the south bound services
Jaqueline Leach, Wed 22 Aug 2012
I popped into Toddington services Northbound to use the gents and at last it's good to see new facilities and no horrible "Public Toilet Smell" hopefully this will extend to the Southbound side as well. all staff i encountered on my brief visit were polite.
Steve Adams, Tue 21 Aug 2012
Such a hot day for driving it was great to get such a choice of facilities. The kids loved their food.
Michael, Sat 18 Aug 2012
As a trucker it is often hard to find a reasonable shower. Well at Toddington North they now have 4 shower rooms. Its great to see a service station investing in the comforts of us truckers.
David, Thu 16 Aug 2012
Stopped here last Sunday afternoon - cash machines charge to withdraw your money, Costa had no saucers and the ladies loos were disgusting!
I should drive on!
Frances, Tue 14 Aug 2012
Hi I stopped at the services on Sunday 12 August at 17:30 and, while I was sitting in my car drinking coffee, I was approached by a woman saying she had ran out of petrol and asked if I had any spare cash as she had no money or credit cards. I did not hand over any money as I was not feeling charitable plus I knew I only had £5 cash on me. She then proceeded to approach numerous cars in the vicinity. Luckily a business man on a repeat journey stopped a family handing cash over - when I asked him, he said he'd seen her pull the same scam the previous week. Needless to say, I was relieved with my decision not to part with any cash. I didn't think to report it at the time as I was in the middle of a 6 hour journey home and just wanted to get on the road again.I hope the powers that be are reading the comments left and take notice.
Jane, Mon 13 Aug 2012
Left my iPhone on the table in costa on the southbound services. The honest staff here kept it safe until I realised my silly mistake! Thank you so much! Brian
Brian, Fri 10 Aug 2012
Visited the southbound services today. The staff here are always friendly and polite. I went to the burger king here with my wife and daughter. The manager, Shakir I think? Was lovely. Motorway services always seem to get negative comments. Well my experience at Toddington was absolutely fine.
James, Fri 10 Aug 2012
Really clean and tidy service station.
Franceseco, Wed 8 Aug 2012
Stopped today at Toddington South. Had a great costa coffee and was served by too loverly members of staff
Tom, Tue 7 Aug 2012
No complaints here, like all the other comments. It's a service station, it does what it says on the tin, you should expect high prices on moterways and airlines.
Adam, Tue 7 Aug 2012
Stopped at these services on Friday 3rd aug traveling to buckinghamshire. As I was leaving the car park I was flagged down by a female saying she had ran out of petrol and needs £20. She has no phone or id either. I was hoping it was genuine but reading the comment in July that another person was stopped for money. I am now having my doubts. I did hand over £20. If this is a scan then I believe the service station must take some responsability and warn people.
Jane, Sun 5 Aug 2012
Service excellent and such a choice for the kids.
Sally, Sat 4 Aug 2012
A brand new toilet block and shower facilities have been opened recenly at Toddington North. The main car park has also been resurfaced.
John Hamm General Manager, Sat 4 Aug 2012
Visited the big costa coffee here and they gave me a drink with off milk! Didn't notice (as it was an iced heavily flavoured drink) till 5 miles north of services. I haven't been poisoned for a while.
Costa coffee say its maintained by Moto and they will lodge my complaint. After this I am reporting them to the food standards agency. Absolutely appalling

We were very disappointed with the service we have received in (South) Burger King. The girl who was serving us was very polite, friendly and helpful. Was doing her best to help us. Unfortunately another shift manager Mr Shakir interfered and rejected to provide help. The girl suggested to check the ingredients on the package she was serving other people too, however he sounded really negative and disrespectful not only to us but her too (we could hear the comments like ''do you want me to do it now'' or even'' let customers decide for themselves'' etc) but we needed just information, and by rule every burger king should be able to provide it. We were feeling very sorry for that girl too. Even though we asked that we need to know the information due to allergy shift manager did not behave professionally and let us down. Will not come back again.

Lady begging for petrol scam? Young lady 'Kelly' comes running round MOTO Toddingtom car park with story: she's very embarrassed as she's run out of petrol and left purse in car on hardshoulder and garage won't help, can I? Alright, I feel sorry so I give her a £5 note, she says £5 won't get her home so will have to ask someonelse and runs upto next person and so on. WHY didn't I stop and think? Why don't Moto warn people?

Same filth on N bound services/ foodoutlets again last week - do concerned company managers actually manage to read this or do they just manage to manage their thoughts of greed and profit? Disgusting.Happy dreaming!
George, Sat 14 Jul 2012
I use the N bound services for food and Wc usually once a week. Yesterday at 9 30 pm I bought a m n S meal and sruggled to find some clean cuttlery and any table without rubbish on it. 2 teenies staff sat down saying it s their break , lots of foodsplashes on cuttlery stand. looked like staff just liked to look at dirt and work rather than doing a job. typical for this country: more pretending than actually doing- they must like their waitinglists for ev thing! Carpark new tarmac but soon will be littered too? Attitude of teenie was unbelievable: if you don t like it don tcome again! What a filthy even so recently refurbished area! thinking going to unhealthy foodshops- at least they get staff to keep it tidy...
George, Thu 5 Jul 2012
absolutely disgusting...stopped for a break and to grab something to eat. All tables and chairs filthy and place was smelly. Food expensive and not great at all. I would not stop there again.
Christina, Sun 1 Jul 2012
Fueled up at the North bound petrol station last Sunday. My fuel card was asking the cashier to ring up and check for authorization.I asked the cashier to do this several times but refused and pressured me into putting £167.00 worth of fuel on my debit card.Ringing up for card authorization is part of the gentleman's job and I am extremely displeased with been made to make payment the way I did, not to mention his poor customer service skills.
Nic M, Thu 28 Jun 2012
I have been in this service station 3 times in the past 6 months (Northbound) (unplanned toilet stop for my son) and the first thing that hits you is the stench of urine as you enter the lobby area - this is an area where they serve food! Very poor service station. Avoid if at all possible.
Charles Ferry, Mon 4 Jun 2012
On the 11th April around 9p.m we stopped at motorway services and unfortunately I lost a small black jewellery box containing a gold chain and cross with green stones and small cluster earrings. It must have fallen out of the car when the door was opened but it was dark. On phoning afterwards, the Duty Manager was very helpful but the jewellery had not been handed in. If anyone found it please hand it in to any Police Station as I have registered it as lost on the Police Property Register. I am very upset at losing the jewellery and very disappointed that it has not been handed in as it was a present from my son. I am happy to give a reward. My previous comments sent in April were not posted and I shall be obliged if this can be, as soon as possible. Thank you. S. Vessey
S. Vessey, Tue 29 May 2012
I have stayed at travel lodges before and I can honestly say I would never stay here again, When stepping into the room I wanted to turn around and leave, the thought of staying the night in an unwelcoming room that was quite dirty looking and the bed was so uncomfortable, the mattress must have been 50 years old, the only bit of furniture was a broken chair, the curtains were black and there was mould on the walls, I had a dreadful nights sleep and could not wait to get up and go home, I know we want value for money but we also want quaulity and comfort, I think you need to seriously re-furbish this place if you want different clients other than truckers to use your facilities, do something about it
wilson, Thu 29 Mar 2012
Absolutely awful experience. Dreadful services, useless signage and a nasty £90 fine for sleeping 48 minutes too long. Did not see any sign saying minimum stay was 2 hours. This is another example of our rip off culture designed to catch innocent travellers out. Will never go to Toddington North again and suggest you don't either
Tracy, Thu 8 Mar 2012
I was very drowsy on News Years eve driving back to B'ham I did'nt know about the two hour parking just got a letter demanding 80 quid and the service. Very dissapointed should have took the M40 what a bunch of crooks
tony, Thu 12 Jan 2012
These services are always dirty. Truck drivers pay alot of money to park over night and we get treated like something you've stepped in. Very expensive very poor food. The government should look into these places. It's clearly not value for money. All services on the uk road system are the same. Dirty and expensive.
Chris Keenan, Tue 25 Oct 2011
Well! What can we say? We are wholly in agreement with others who found the experience absolutely horrendous. Having just returned from The Netherlands, on our way home and feeling hungry we decided to stop at Toddington for a rest and a small bite to eat. We truly wish we had not - the whole place was filthy! In the absence of anywhere else open, we decided to try Burger King (not the normal type of food for us) - before the food was ordered and delivered our shoes were sticking to the floor - tables were very dirty too and we laid napkins down before sitting. The cold drinks machine was broken so I popped to M and S to buy something to drink - does M & S know what it's like? With their reputation I was disgusted. I could go on about these places but have to mention the ladies toilet, as others have done - I don't think the toilets have been cleaned in 20 years! Brown bowls will suffice. Foul would be the word I would apply. A French family came in to eat - how embarrassed we were to think that foreigners were seeing the British this way. Aren't these places ever visited by the "health police"? Never again!
Roger and Larraine Wilde, Tue 25 Oct 2011
Stop here on my way to Heathrow quite a bit, went yesterday 14th Oct. 2011 around 10pm. Cheaper to get a bite to eat here than pay the prices at my usual hotel, so nip to Burger King. Yes, it's about £7 for the meal I have, but it's half the price of the burger meal at the hotel I am heading to, so I can't complain. Mens' toilets (southbound) usually fine, sign outside saying there was a male attendant cleaning them at the time. Other restaurant advertises 2 meals for £10 which sounds decent value, but have never tried. Bit baffled by so many bad comments, what do people expect from a UK service station? Most are better now than they were in the 80s and 90s. Toddington has a decent selection of shops and eateries, toilets are always fine in my experience. My only gripe is that the exit back onto the motorway is not clearly signposted, I struggled a bit to find my way out! Oh, and it wouldn't kill Burger King to stock some mayonnaise sachets. Always ketchup only it seems.
Andy B, Sat 15 Oct 2011
I am finding it difficult to be polite. My wife and I stopped today at the northbound services and the smell of the toilets met you as you walked in through the main door. The mens toilets we diabolical and my wife said that the same applied to the ladies. How on earth you expect people to work there never mind us just visiting. It is now Oct 10th and aparently it was like this on 26th Sept re Margaret Main comment. Obviously no one takes any notice of this so it looks as though further action is needed. The Health & Safety Executive will be informed as I am sure that there is a health risk to any food purchased there. I would suggest that a quick remedy could be done with the aid of a Cat D8 !!
Gordon Williamson, Mon 10 Oct 2011
I have visited Todding services twice now in the last 4 weeks. The last time being yesterday 25th September. I am amazed how you can get away with the state of the ladies toilets. They are disgusting and really dirty and smelly. Do you not take notice of the comments which have been posted before with the same complaint. I only have to stop at these services because I am on a bus trip.I wonder what the HEALTY AND SAFETY EXECUTIVES WOULD SAY ABOUT THEM if somebody put a complaint into them. If you don't get your act together quickly I think you could be in serious trouble.
margaret main, Mon 26 Sep 2011
Visited south side Sunday 31st July - can only say that I thought the ladies toilets were a disgrace! Smelly! At least half cubicles taped off and not in use and most of those that were never had a lock on the door! The floor was wet so I had to hold my trousers up and there was toilet paper all over the floor and wedged under doors appearing to stop a leak. When I asked who was in charge to complain I was directed to Adam the Manager of W.H.Smith who tried to make excuses and said that the cubicles not in use were unsafe and they were doing their best! This is certainly not good enough and I would prefer to use a Portakabin in the car park whilst these are put in order! I have visited public toilets in third world countries which are cleaner!Whilst I was there people were complaining how dirty the eating section was - fortunately I never tried it and ate my very nice M&S sandwich in the car - giving the coffee a miss!
Pauline Hay, Mon 1 Aug 2011
A fair place to stop. Toilets are somtimes a bit smelly. Baby change is ok. Food is ok. Staff are ok. Never had any problems with parking (except once when the car park was covered with snow and no-one could see the white lines for the bays, but that wasn't Toddington Services fault) I often travel from Jersey to Tibshelf with my two small children and this is my 2 hr stopping station. It's ok.
Pam Gibson, Sat 25 Jun 2011
I lost my purse in the car park I think , it was handed in by an honest member of the public and the staff at m&s took care of it and returned it next day in registered post. I am thrilled and would like to say a very big thank you.
Anne marie Graham, Tue 10 May 2011
I was there and had breakfast for 2 which cost £19 including beverages. I returned to my car within the 2 hour parking period. I moved the car as I was waiting to meet someone. I remained with my car. I AGAIN moved it when the person I awaited arrived and then left and today (week later) I get a parking ticket?? I SPENT PLENTY OF MONEY HERE. I was within the displayed time... SO BE CAREFUL as I for one will NEVER give my business to them!
David Newby, Sat 7 May 2011
Stopped here for a coffee this morning. What a loverly relaxing enviroment.
Mr Stuart Kennedy, Sun 27 Mar 2011
Unfortunately Toddington is for many of us the last services before a long journey around the M25. It is the only reason I would ever stop there.
The automatic door nearest the disabled parking bays is permanently closed is this legal? You are denying disabled people access.
The toilets on the southbound side are the dirtiest and most run down on the M1 motorway. I was unfortunate enough to use them after Christmas when as I am sure you are aware they were absolutely disgusting.
I also used them on Sunday 20th February and they were not much better, you still have lots of cubicles roped off and everything is extremely run down and very smelly. I am only surprised that firms like M&S want to sell food in such a filthy environment.
A sign near the toilets asked for comments, I am sure you have had lots about this issue. When will we see some improvement to this serious health and safety issue? I am only glad that I didn't have any young children with me.
fiona winstanley, Wed 23 Feb 2011
On one of their busiest days the southbound ladies toilets had all but 5 cubicles roped off, and one of the 5 wouldn't flush. No explanation or staff about. Obviously queue snaked out into the foyer. As no other services for 80 miles for me, had to queue, but made mental note to avoid Moto at all times in future. Appalling.
Nickie, Mon 3 Jan 2011
I had to drive from Scotland overnight to collect clients from Heathrow airport but needed a break and stopped at Toddington Services for a snack and a brief sleep - as motorway safety suggests - 'Tiredness kills, take a break', but was fined £50/£80 for going over the 2 hour parking limit. Just a rip off, I won't be stopping there again.
Mike McCrave, Thu 11 Nov 2010
Stopped again at these services, much better. Toilets clean and tidy. Slight issue with my Costa coffee but spoke to Daniel who resolved everything. Apart from that very pleasant.
Mrs I Baxter, Sun 10 Oct 2010
Well I looked at the web site as to the facilities. As I was going to be early 0610hrs I wondered what the eating arrangements are. Little Chef "PERFECT" so I thought. Nice hot breakfast. No Little Chef. Blast!!!. So had only a coffee. Toilets much to be desired locked cubicles dirty basins. All checked every hour I don't think so. That was the northbound one. So moved over to the southbound. A little better still no Little Chef, so had to have the E.D &co breakfast. But by this time 0930hrs was Jolly hungry. Well every thing of the english breakfast was poor except for the egg which was freshly cooked. As with many Englishmen we tend to not complain and I was hungry. Toilets alot better this side. I am going north again soon and will not be going into Toddington I'll wait till I get further north.
Mick Vanner, Thu 9 Sep 2010
Nice services. Toilets clean and Costa coffee available - perfect!
Ben & Emma, Wed 11 Aug 2010
The toilets in here should come with a health warning! There were no soap dispensers filled with soap, just a couple of bars with hair on them! toilet rolls on the floor the toilets looked like they hadn't been cleaned for days! I complained to the duty manager Daniel who said he hadn't had a delivery of soap, "hello" you have an M&S onsite that sells hand pump soap no excuse! Doesn't explain filthy toilets and toilet roll situation, I wouldn't use these services again. BE WARNED!
Mrs Baxter, Mon 2 Aug 2010
I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all the staff in the restaurant in the North-bound site. Whilst having lunch there yesterday our little girl fell off her chair and managed to pull a mug of boiling coffee onto herself as she went. The staff were all wonderful and thanks to their quick thinking and first aid training our daughter escaped without so much as a red mark. They also replaced the coffee and food that had gone cold!
emily mugridge, Mon 2 Aug 2010
Very good services :)
Jamie charles, Fri 30 Jul 2010
The toilets in the BP garage are an absolute disgrace, particularly for the brand of BP and Costa Coffee. When mentioned to the staff they just replied 'yes we know' - the boxing is wet and broken, there is no lock handle or flush cover and the room and floor stink of urine.
Anonymous, Mon 19 Jul 2010
I was shocked at the diabled toilet issues i experianced. The ladies diabled toilrt was outof order with a man mending it. He was pleasent and said i would have to use the one in the mens sectio. Even though it was on the outer area it wasnt nice to be so close to th mens cubicles. Then he said i would need a key. There was no assistant around so this nice workman went in search of a key it took nearly 10 minutes . he said that they kept loosing them and he had been given this one on pain of death. I feel that the disabled toilets should not be placed in corridors leading to either male or female toilets. as my husband has to come in with me he would have had to go down ths ladies corridor. The toilet itself was stained and the room dirty. The smell was disgusting. If i had not been desperate i would not have used the facility. I am sure that we will avoid all MOTO service areas if it is possible.
J LIghtfoot, Thu 8 Jul 2010
visited toilets as most do. found ladies had no soap at all, not very hygienic when hoping to then have a meal. tried to find a member of staff, only ones there busy serving in shop or coffee bar. overall impression was that no one was there to care!

Stopped yesterday, was travelling alone with my dog. Nowhere to walk him except small grass verge right near the motorway covered in litter and dog mess (yes I know that's not Moto's fault). Luckily, I did not need the loo too, as you can't take dogs into the building, even the parts that don't have food. I would not have left my dog in the car on the hottest day of the year even for a moment, even with the windows open. I used Tibshelf (Road Chef)later - fabulous! huge grassed area for walking my dog, spotless and with several doggy bins. I am making a note of who operates each services to ensure I never use a Moto one again. Tourists must despair at our acceptance of the expensive and poor quality services.

I would mirror most of the comments made about the cleanliness of the toilet area's truely disgusting so much so that although i was desperate to use them i refused as i was frightened of catching something!!! We had just come from the service area where we had just eaten a meal which should have come with a free drink however because my daughter picked up a large drink they charged us £3 for the drink when i asked the lady about the offer she offered me the worst customer service i've ever had at a service station and just told me to do one!!! We had just come back from America just hours before and it's truely remarkable to note the difference......come on Moto get your act together your giving Marks & Spencer a bad name!!!!
Graham, Wed 9 Jun 2010
when i was reading all those comments i was bursting out laughting...people are complaining about mess, when they are the one who are leaving it. Everyone loooves omplaining about mess, but noone ever does pick up their dishesh or rubbish to chuck it away, pigs!!! i have been to several motorway stations and all i do,i analyse what people do. Staff are most of the time very welcomed, but then...then customer starts to accuse poor cashier that it is a high price!!! well of course it is,it is a motorway station and there is nothing you can do and it is not cashiers or managers fault, they do not set up prices, duuh! is it so hard to understand? but no,people in this country have sooooo many rights, that they will humililiate everything that they don't like...i feel sorry for all those people that moan and complain and leave rubbish behind them...

As a respectable elderly lady I was appalled to stop at Toddington for a wash and brush up only to find that a male operative was on duty without displaying times of cleaning/checking. This causes anxiety and puts people off using the service provided for them and is not safe practice especially for vulnerable groups such as young children,( potential child protection concern) the elderly, people with hearing impairment, visual impairment who may become shocked and distressed. Travellers should be able to confidently choose to use a well maintained and clean facility without having to worry about opposite sex workers violating their privacy and offending decency. A child, old enough to go to the toilet by him/herself (perhaps while mum/dad is having coffee, dealing with a sibling) may be put in compromising and potentially sexualised situations, that he/she is too young to cope with. A woman who may be travelling alone late at night should not be expected to use a facility where she may find herself alone in a facility where doors do not even lock, with a man who does not even speak english and has not been CRB checed. Womenoften use the sink area outside of the cubicles to wash, change rearrange clothing etc and should be entitled to same sex privacy. Nor is it satisfactory to expect a man or pubertal boy to cope with female cleaners entering while he is standing there, penis in hand using an open urinal. This is putting both the public and your cleaners at risk. It would only need a child to say 'why was that man looking at me like that' (or vice versa for a boy/youth)for allegations (eg paedophilia, sexual abuse, voyeurism, harrassment) with legal repercussions. This poor practice may also attract unsuitable people to work as cleaners (or perverts, paedophiles posing as cleaners) in order to get closer to members of the opposite sex where people are in a state of undress performing personal body functions.
There are thousands of incidences where voyeurism takes place in public toilets and web cams are set up. Only last year a 9 year old girl was assaulted in an Asda store by a man spying on her via a mirror set up in the adjoining cubicle whilst pretending to be an electrician and an apparently respectable woman teacher has been exposed as a 'predatory paedophile' who sexually assaulted children 100 times. Carole Clarke, 46, has told police that she systematically attacked boys and girls over a 17-year period by following them into public toilets.
Use of opposite sex workers makes many women feel unsafe as people will be less likely to report a man entering female toilets assuming it is a cleaner. In the absence of a failsafe policy which prevents opposite sex workers from entering the facilities while people are using them (e.g to ask a same sex worker to check that the facilities are empty first ). The Law considers it reasonable for a woman to object to the presence of a man when in a state of undress or using sanitary facilities and vice versa for men for obvious reasons to preserve decency and prevent dignitary harm and distress. Existing single sex, multi cubical public facilities were not designed for opposite sex workers to be entering and do not provide sufficient privacy for anyone. If opposite sex workers are to be used then consideration should be given to converting facilities to fully enclosed direct access individual cubicles which are suitable for single parents out with young children, transgender individuals etc and it would not matter who cleaned them. Your current practice is unsafe, is a potential child protection concern and the toilets are not maintained or even clean. It is about time you reviewed your operational policy before your cleaners are sued for sexual Harassment, voyeurism and/or someone catches a nasty bug due to poor cleanliness and hygeine.

I visited these services on Saturday night - although it was late in the day (around 9 pm) the ladies toilets were in a disgusting state. They smelled, were dirty and I had to visit 7 cubicles before I found a toilet that was not blocked or clean enough to use. Ugh!
Jackie Roberts, Tue 30 Mar 2010
The mens toilets seem to not have the facility of heat. The water and the hand dryers are all without heat, and are in fact COLD. This is constant not just a one off condition.
Corwin, Sun 7 Mar 2010
You know half the problems with toilets at these places and at public toilets in general is down to the dirty pigs, that minotiry of the public that go, use these places and leave them in such a disgusting filthy squalor, blocked up with loo roll, can't be bother to flush their crap, and leave it all over the floor.
Cleaners aren't perfect, companies are not always right or perfect, but its the cleaners that have the lousy job of cleaning up after the scum that leave any public toilets male or female in this way which make me heave!
Mr Very Angry!
Paul, Thu 4 Mar 2010
What do you expect in a service station? The reason they are sometimes dirty is because of the mess we leave after visiting. Please dont be another messy pig. Thanks.
john, Thu 25 Feb 2010
The Toilets are blocked and it STINKS .
I throw up when I went to the Ladies, when I complained the Duty manager said , we know about the issue but it only happend sometimes. I will not be stopping there again.
It's disgusting.
Kumud Joshi, Tue 16 Feb 2010
Aggressive parking policy. Toilets had no locks. Food poor. Overpriced. Will never visit again. Ever
Richard Willan, Sat 30 Jan 2010
1. My wife stayed over two hours because the recent bad winter weather had delayed the car bringing her mother so that she could be transferred 'up north'. Received an outrageous car park penalty notice in the post for £50/£80.
2. Facilities were dirty and no locks in the ladies' toilets.
Never going to use Toddington/Moto again.
Richard, Sat 30 Jan 2010
It Sucks! Will never go back there.
Mike, Mon 26 Oct 2009
Parked up for a short meeting and breakfast with collegues we just tucking into our breakfasts when fire alarm test sounded. Then stood outside for about half an hour went back and stood in the que for a coffee waysted about 45 minutes in total. Due to all this we went over 2 hour limit and got a £28 fine and up to £75 through costs from the car lease company. I am now out of pocket by £75 and waysted our breakfasts paid for another 5 coffees. How do you think I feel? Going to try and get my money back. We will never meet here again! What a shambles!!!
MR A, Mon 26 Oct 2009
BEWARE!!! IF YOU STAY MINUTES OVER 2 HOURS, YOU WILL BE SENT HARRASSING, INTIMIDATING, THREATENING AND BULLYING LETTERS DEMANDING £120 FROM SOME COWBOY OUTFIT CLAIMING TO REPRESENT MOTO.I will never, ever enter any Moto establishment, or any retail outlet that they are in partnership with again. I actually used to go for Moto service areas specifically for M&S Simply Food, but they have had their last penny off me. I am appalled by their anti-customer tactics. If their strategy is to grab as much money as they can from you then kick you out asap, it is a losing strategy, and as far as I am concerned, they have lost thousands from my personal boycott of every retailer that uses their sorry site!
Mike, Fri 9 Oct 2009
Fried food was greasy and over cooked, the other meals undercooked, a fly was found in the coleslaw. Food was horrible, the staff and service was terrible, they did nopt have a clue, a complete waste of time and money.
Caroline, Mon 21 Sep 2009
payed over £20 for 3 breakfasts which where disgusting. 2 teas that where horrible and a hot chocolate was the same. staff where rubbish.
Richard Ashwood, Sat 22 Aug 2009
Called at this area at 10.29pm on a saturday evening for a decent coffee and a snack. All outlets were closed. When I asked for a coffee I was told that I could get it out of a machine ???. How come in this day and age we cannot get a decent coffee on a Saturday evening. I didn't want coffee from a machine I wanted a decent one. Why,can't these places be open for 24 hours or at least one of them and take it in turns. I hadn't travelled far, but supposing Somebody had travelled from Scotland and wanted a hot meal or similar. They could not even get a cup of decent coffee.
David Rodgers, Sun 9 Aug 2009
Absolutely filthy. Stopped to change baby's nappy. Baby change room was tiny and humid. Sink running water as tap broken. Floor wet and filthy. Awful experience. Ladies similar as were gents. A disgrace. Stopped a few weeks later and exactly same state so cannot be described as a one off.
Amanda, Wed 22 Jul 2009
its a great place and i trhink you should change the rating to 4 and not 2!
marshall, Sun 28 Jun 2009
Costa at Toddington - Fantastic! I have been waiting for this service area to get a Costa as its on my route most days. Well done Moto!
Paula Bushby, Tue 19 May 2009
Its been quite a while since we stopped at this one. The southbound bit has completely changed and now has one of those Costa areas, which looked popular. We prefer ordinary tea so didn't go to it but it looked nice.

Terrible! Male toilets were very poorly serviced at 7:15 on 6th May 2009. One pan full of faeces and no toilet paper in two other cubicles. Notice said attendant available but he was nowhere to be seen! Finally managed to find duty manager. Hardly any staff present in the restaurant at breakfast time. Only saving grace is the M&S. Won't be stopping there again.
David Roberts, Thu 7 May 2009
Dirty, expensive, parking confusing, staff rude and coffee machines ( Coffee Nation ) on Northbound were filthy! Hello Moto, more like goodbye moto ! just like the rest of this country, in a right state and rip us off.
Daz, Sun 19 Apr 2009
Carpark is miserable and awkward.
Inside, burger king is way over the odds. nearly £6 for a single burger.
WH Smith severely under-stocked, no red-bull or cigarettes - neccessary tools personally needed on a long car journey
James Arnold, Mon 2 Feb 2009
Burger King has capitalised on the release of Batman film the Dark Knight with a TV and cinema campaign featuring people who display their "dark side" after eating a special Whopper burger. Try the Burger King at Toddington and you'll definately display your 'DARK SIDE ' :-(
MALCOLM KEY, Wed 1 Oct 2008
These idiots advertise lpg for sale but I have now lost count of the times I have queued on the forecourt and found the lpg pump is not working or they have run out of gas. They can't even be bothered to put up a sign to let you know. No one is making them offer lpg and if they can't manage to operate a consistent service they should get rid of the lpg pump and save us all a load of wasted time
rob cave, Thu 11 Sep 2008
I thought this site was great! I'm a regular visitor to this site as it's near where I sometimes work. The staff are all great and I love the food - especially the own branded catering offering.
Chris Low, Thu 7 Aug 2008
My daughter bought a rancid ham sandwich from the kids corner of the restaurant. She opened it in the car on the way home; the smell made me pull over. After complaining by phone I was told the sandwich would be lab tested. Three months on, nothing. Not even a letter with a refund for the sandwich. The manager, Colin, had a real attitude problem on the phone, almost blaming me for the problem. I would never recommend anyone visit a Moto, and I am not surprised at the current rating Toddington has. Colin should be sacked, in my opinion.
Mark Curnane, Thu 31 Jul 2008
Went too use the showers and NEVER AGAIN.
The water was freezing, and there was no curtain which meant the floor became flooded and clothes were wet.
The Polish cleaners are rude and speak little English if any.
Water was coming through the roof in the Gents where the lights are and the floors were slippery.
The shops are expensive.
Richard Daubney, Mon 16 Jun 2008
Stopped in at this service area again yesterday morning on my way to London and again on my way back in the afternoon. Both times the place was fine and the staff were friendly. Had one of those toasted meatball rolls that they do and it was pretty good. Make sure I stop at Toddington because they're coffee is the best.
Doug Marlin, Mon 19 May 2008
I needed to stop to use the facilities and was disgusted by the state of the toilets. 2 Blocked and 1 without a lock on the door. I won't even get started on the state of the floor. They overcharge on food and petrol, the least u expect is to have clean toilets.
George, Thu 20 Mar 2008
I really like the coffee at this site.
Emily Chambers, Fri 15 Feb 2008
Staff lovely, surroundings very pleasant. Especially liked the sofa's.
Norma Goodman, Fri 15 Feb 2008
The staff were pleasant and the shops were really good, especially the M&S food area. Great coffee too.
Fred Goodman, Fri 15 Feb 2008
I found this site to be one of the best service areas. It has a substantial marks and spencer foods store on both sides and it also looks like the south bound side has been refurbished with a tasteful and above all comfortable coffee lounge. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and with the morning sun shining through the glass roof it was by far one of the most enjoyable experiences I have ever had at a motorway service area.
Doug Marlin, Wed 13 Feb 2008
I work as a courier and travel extensively throughout the UK making full use of the handy Service Stations on our roads. I've not stopped at Toddington for a few years until yesterday because of the bad services i'd experienced before. They haven't improved, my breakfast was cold, there was no daily mail (at 10am), and the toilets stank. Most definitely our worst SS in the entire country and i will not EVER be using again.
Kieron Chapman, Tue 15 Jan 2008
I found the parking arrangements to be extremely confusing. It took me fully 5 minutes to negotiate the converluted series of twists and turns and unnecessary chicanes that greet the weary motorist. I found that the shop had a poor selection of produce, lacking even a tin of pineapple chunks, which I am partial too. The whole experience was topped off when upon returning to my car I found a frog clinging to the bonnet ! I suspect it was a practical joke and as such I found rather bizarre and unsettling.
Craig Noble, Thu 3 Jan 2008
Ladies Toilets were dirty, smelly. Many of the cubicles were out of use (broken doors etc). Wet toilet paper strewn over floors. No attendant to complain to. Burger King - pleasant service however unable to find one clean table to sit at. Foof on floor under tables. Serving counter untidy and dirty. Never been to such a badly managed services. Standards low and still not achieved.
Susan Coorey, Sun 30 Dec 2007
