Not the worst place I have been but definatley not the best, felt grubby and uninviting, and no customer service at all, worked within this industry for alot of years and nothing changes. as always staff focused on tasks not customers.

Friday Afternoon, just pulled of to get some petrol and a drink, waiting for a pump for 15minutes, then when finally got on a pump and into the shop, 2 people serving and queue to the back of the shop nearly??? and having 4 tills ?? was in there for a total of 40minutes, fast efficent service - definatley not!

Posted 2225 on Mon 23rd If there are any truckers out there willing to give 3 students a lift South wards ---they are in yellow t shirts and on a route to Barcelona! for charity--all cold and tired ---one of them is my daughter. Be nice and do some good and help them on their way----eventually to Portsmouth!

the worried mum!, 23 January 2012

Went into Costa on Sunday for quiet coffee , far from it ? queued for 2 coffees then they got order wrong , and seating area felt cramped one member of staff bumped our table twice spilling our coffee a bit ( all we got was a sorry), not exactly a relaxing morning. off to Wetherby one in future.

If you are thinking of pulling off the motorway here do yourself a favour head for Wetherby, cheaper parking, cheaper & better quality food, and lots more choice and scenery, and less queues, "Discover Wetherby" from the comments here is it any wonder that people revisit it.

Matthew West, 29 December 2011

Queued nearly an hour off the motorway at Wetherby to find carnage at this services again with parking and service, another holiday, another problem, whose to blame this time? 50minutes just to get petrol how about that for speedy customer service.

I was travelling south for christmas and in the festive spirit as was my wife and young son and daughter , arrived here feeling happy but it didnt feel like christmas in here no festivness anywhere , staff morale looked none exsistance and looked like a "norm" day business as usual for Moto. you go into towns , supermarkets, and shops and festivness is always there. Not really felt like Christmas in the services, at least it should feel like it even if 1/10 people are not bothered. we felt down after coming here. but cheered ourselves up. CHEER UP GET IN THE SPIRIT, this day and age and people are only interested in making money not anything else.

G. Sheridan, 23 December 2011

customer service not so good, I dealt with a girl at EDC who got a manager to sort out my Issue but customer service very much an issue for this person , she didnt know how to deal with me and didnt resolve my issue

As a fellow Lorry driver too, I have been coming here since this place opened, and apart from the first few months, it has been poor service for Lorry drivers, not enough facilities for capacity of drivers, expensive overnight stay, wouldnt mind paying it if the food was value for money, but dried up and no fresh cooking done if we ask.

Brian Woodsley

Brian Woodsley, 8 December 2011

as a Trucker , I am on the road 6 days a week and I pull in here every Tuesday and Friday, sometimes I want a good hot meal at the end of day , but always seems dried up, when you complain it always too much trouble to do fresh, not really adequate facilities for truck drivers, this is mirrored when you talk to other drivers too

Roger Springer

Roger Springer, 6 December 2011

Place is your typical Motorway services, uninviting, understaffed, overpriced, dark and grubby, queued for ages in forecourt for a drink and to pay for my petrol. not exactly a fast efficent service.

Mrs A Doyle

Anna Doyle, 5 December 2011

As a frequent visitor to Wetherby & Spending quite a bit time in Motorway Services due to my Job, feels like Wetherby is not the worst , but definatley one of the poorly run ones , typical of Moto compared to the Roadchefs I use further south.

I'm amused by the fact that Sarah in the comment below me acknowledges that there was only such a big problem on one day in three years. For any type of business that is a good feat, according to Sarah one bad day is unforgivable. Giving the extremely high standards she seems to hold (evidence provided by her language), I would not say she is the sort of person who should be commenting on a reviewing site such as this one due to the emotional biases being displayed.

Scott, 21 November 2011

All I will say is to that comment from Moto is this services has been open over 3 years never happened at any time before what ever the time of year, trying to justify a mess. Sorry Moto but no reason for incompetence.

Sarah Jensen

Sarah Jensen, 19 November 2011

Due to the Wetherby Races clashing with Half Term this year, we experienced severe congestion in our site car park. We provided a team of five people, including the General Manager of the site, to direct traffic in attempt to rectify the situation which lasted just over half an hour.

We are working with the local police to see how we can change this position next year.

Moto Hospitality takes this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience caused and we would like to assure customers that we will endeavour to prevent such a situation arising again.

Moto Hospitality Ltd, 9 November 2011

All i will say is what a disgrace on that day (28th Oct)it was a messandapparently from the staff no reason or explanation or an apology ? if this is how they re-act on a busy day , really shouldnt be managing this site. pure incompentance.doesnt say much for the inside does it , I only went for petrol 50mins I was there.

Sarah Jensen

Sarah Jensen, 7 November 2011

Having previously stopped at Wetherby Services a couple of times and found it fine, I was surprised and dismayed by the awful traffic congestion at 1pm on Friday 28th October. I agree with the previous comment - once you had driven into this total gridlock, it was going to be at least an hour before you could get out. And there was only normal or light traffic anywhere else. Needless to say this messed up my plans.

The previous comment was also accurate in saying that futile efforts were being made to direct traffic by staff who could give no explanation of what was going on.

There is no chance that I will ever stop at these services again unless I get an explanation of what went wrong and an assurance that it will not happen again.

Tony Symes, 31 October 2011

Called at Wetherby Services on Friday 28th Nov at 13.00 hours and spent 1hour 30 minutes trying to get out, total grid lock unbelievable..... young untrained staff trying to direct traffic.......the parking network is so badly designed that its like a free for all....it is the worst services I have ever visited and will never ever call again.

Margaret Jones, 30 October 2011

No less than 4 outlets of Costa Coffee at this location. Queues at all and no pastries or croissants left by mid-morning. Popular spot for coach parties to stop and very crowded because.

aerof, 22 October 2011

Julie wilson
I hope you didn`t pay the fine.

Its a private parking company that can`t enforce or issue penalty notices or fines! Just speculative invoices!

As seen on the consumer action group

Andy, 17 October 2011

I can honestly say that Wetherby is a pretty spot on place to stop.

I regularly stop off at Wetherby services and although there have sometimes been minor issues, they are the exception rather than the rule.

G, 11 October 2011

Toilets disgusting, place filthy, wouldnt eat there if it was free, have you seen some the people serving ?no customer service, worst place I have ever been.

dont know what your burger stars mean but i visited wetherby today and found a huge airy comfortable rest from traveling all morning. My baguette was the freshest crisp but soft sandwich i have bought anywhere including any high street for a long time. Not wrapped and soggy or stale but freshly made. I have not had this brand before and will look for more. All served buy cheery staff.
The toilet facilities clean and outside appearance very impressive.
I have visited many service areas and this one beats them all. Thank you wetherby we will be back.

chris, 4 October 2011

Needed to make a comment on here as a friend of mine had told me about this, I had visited this services once before about 6months after it opened and found it was pleasant clean and almost pretty good, usual overpriced but ok.

I visited a month ago however and a different story altogether, there are mixed comments on here and I know each visit is a snapshot, but doesnt moto need to fix the re-occuring comments.

I witnessed a member of staff being shouted at in front of customers because apparently "they werent fast enough" very unprofessional, yes it was busy and queues everywhere , but could see not enough staff as all tills in most units were not being used ,surely thats the reason they are there. yes tables a mess too i had to clear my own and upon talking to people near me they had to do the same.

Customer service needs to be addressed I think - does Moto actually look at these comments.

John O Neil, 28 September 2011

Stopped here for lunch yesterday with the family. Was suprised to read all the negative comments about it being dirty, the place was spotless (they even had fresh flowers in the toilets), Really clean, even though it was really busy with travelling families.

We all ate ate the Burger King. It was a bit more expensive than the high street but you expect to pay that at the services and the staff were polite and the food good. We had to que for about 10 mins to be seen but hey, its the summer holiday and the place was rammed so no complaints there.

Overall I was quite impressed with the place, especially after reading all the negative stuff on here.

Paul, 22 August 2011

We called in at wetherby services today as my mum told me they had been very helpful with my grandmother. The place was buzzing and really busy being the weekend but the choice of eating places was great as all five of us wanted something different so we split up and met in the garden area to have our food and even bought a picnic blanket in m&s. We enjoyed everything from pasties, burgerking and huge baguettes outside in the sun. It did not feel like a service area at all and was a great break from our driving.
Toilets busy but a lady going round checking they had loo roll and real flowers in the toilets. Fab place and smileing staff!! mum was right

carol, 21 August 2011

Went to this services on Wednesday , the worst placed I have visited in a while , queues in the services queues out , toilets a disgrace , queuing everywhere for a hot drink , dirty tables , no where to sit. I expect it to be busy but no staff and incompatance of the people running the stores. Customer service clearly not there first priority, looking at the comments below seems like they can`t cope with volume so let some else run it or open another services , this is mirrored with my comments.URGE YOU TO GO ELSE WHERE IN FUTURE.

J. Kerryson

Janet Kerryson, 12 August 2011

I use this service area on a regular basis, travelling for work. I have to say that Wetherby is one of the cleanest, most modern and best laid out in the country. I have never had any reason to complain, the service is good, the tables are clean, as are the toilets and there are plenty of different outlets to choose from. I use many service areas around the UK, and this is easily one of the best. I wish the people making negative comments about Wetherby would try Blyth Services instead - then they'd know what a grotty service area is really like!!

Dan Parsons, 5 August 2011

I work for a company whereby all our area personell use these services , myself and at least 7 of my colleagues use this services and never seen these helpful at all , its a disgrace a dump and lacks customer service , the food at EDC is disgraceful for the price always dried up and looks like slop. cleaners are always hard to find let alone staff, we stop here because there isn`t anywhere else we can actually base from geographically but if there was we would. Moto should get themselves a business that doesnt involve customers , If these people on here exsisted we would have saints nice try Moto.

At last the best Baguettes in the uk are available at a motorway service station, being a southerner and working in London my usual breakfast is from Uppercrust at a rail station on my way to work. The baguette was as always from uppercrust fresh and tasty, I had a takeway costa coffee from the outside shop and ate in the sunshine. I travel to Newcastle twice or three times a year and have found the perfect stop over. Compared to a lot of places on the M1/A1 this is new and clean, very modern feel and I got back in the car very refreshed. The cost was expensive but about the same as a rail station and I do not mind paying extra when you get what you expect. Our delivery guy told me about this service station as he always uses them and this website which is great for customer feedback.

Philip Staghan, 1 August 2011

We arrived at this service area whilst taking my elderly mother to my fathers memorial service in nottingham. My mother has been staying with us since my fathers death but wanted to go to the service. We had to stop as she was very upset and needed a break and unfortunatley broke down in the toilets. A manager got a first aider and took my mum to a private room in the offices and brought sweet tea. I can honestly say they where brilliant with her and we stayed for an hour. We sat in the seating area and watched the world go by.You can say what you want about this services but i only saw hard working people telling coach drivers to join the other people and not go to the front, three people with trolleys constantly cleaning tables and the place was really really busy with coaches of people young noisy and elderly as well as lots of children. The toilets where constantly being checked and a lovely girl shouting empty toilet. Well done to this company and its staff.

heather price, 1 August 2011

We had a good stop at this clean and modern services on our way back from holidaying in Scotland. Must say we had a good visit, though these places are never cheap we were served quickly with decent coffee in Costa. My wife was not too well and I feel I must say that a lady called Ula was a complete star and helped us to our table and made us feel very welcome.

Bob, 29 July 2011

This has got to be one of the best we have ever visited, the place is huge,it was very busy when we stopped on the 21 of July on our way to Cambridge from Edinburgh. toilets were spotless and my wife was impressed with the baby change room. There were loads of places to choose from for food, but we ate outside as it was really sunny day and enjoyed a costa coffee and cornish pasties. nice change from our usual stop and will use it on the way home.

Looking at all of the comments below.....i'm beginning to think i was at a different Service Area to everyone else on here!..but no, definitely Moto and definitely Wetherby. I visited a couple of weeks ago after a 3 hour journey up north. I have to say i was pleasantly surprised. I know Service Stations haven't had the best reputation in the past and to be honest i usually stop to use the loo, stretch my legs and then get back on the road. However, i really liked it here. The M&S was a massive bonus. The whole place was really busy but i wasn't expecting anything else on a Saturday lunchtime. The fact that it was so busy didn't effect the service i recieved - it was great. Instead of rushing off, i decided to enjoy the sunny day and have a coffee at the outside seating area. The staff at Costa were very friendly, working hard to serve their customers and my coffee was just as i like it. So, after such a pleasant experience i went on my way. Well Done Moto. I'll be visiting again and will aim to use your Service Areas wherever my travels take me!

Pamela Short, 28 July 2011

I don`t normally complain about anything, but I felt this took the award of the century for the " WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER" I had higlighted to a girl about a spillage problem in the dining area and all she did was looked at me blank, laughed and carried on what she was doing , my husband said I should have called a Manager but I suggested we left our food and went i was furious , never been so insulted in my life. this is not the last that Moto will hear of this. Will never visit again EVER.

Just replying to last 2 comments, about These people at this services who are in charge or run it. They are not interested in comments or feedback as i have complained quite a few times at different units, some about food and dirty tables etc. all the things on here basically ( they all cant be wrong )

However they just get some out to clean it at the time or manage the queue etc.. then the same again, and i have spoke to some staff a few times they say the managers are not interested in staff or customers just themselves

I have to go in there alot of the time due to my business meetings in terms of location etc.. but would find another place if one was suitable in location. now it just goes over my head but can tell you these are not interested at all, the services definatley was a bad idea unless run by some who cares about customer interest.

James Allen, 29 June 2011

Hey Mike, you are right they dont answer and they are fully aware of this site They use to answer at one time until we challenged them then they just left not to return it appears. They sure do give the impression that they dont care as nothing comes back at all now.Thay say they care about customers, nothing on here says they do, shame on them not got the courage of there convictions!!

dosser666, 24 June 2011

Just looked back through older comments and despite all the bad feedback on how this place is run there is not one response from MOTO management! This implies that they either take no notice or don't care!

Mike

Mike Rogers, 23 June 2011

Come on MOTO whatever is going on at Wetherby. Its filthy and badly staffed leading to extremely slow service(probably why its filthy) I use your services by choice in other parts of the country but this one is a disgrace.

Mike

Mike Rogers, 23 June 2011

What a disgrace, Q`s in every place , dirty , staff attitude , expensive ( which you expect ) but you at least expect quality and value service for your money, what a dump even to say its still new looking , never going here again and will advise my fellow friends and everyone i know to avoid Moto totally. I would like to add why has the forecourt got a costa coffee when they cant even staff it? surely the aim is to serve customers with coffee not make them wait 30minutes.

Dirty, inside and especially outside, cold and draughty. Avoid these services. Our impression was that there is no effective management of the services as a whole. We've stopped several times, always giving it the benefit of any doubt, but the last visit was the worst.

anonymous coward, 22 May 2011

I agree with comments here, I would give this services a miss, always an issue with staff shortages , unclean tables , ignorant staff and managers and very expensive prices and not good quality either, I spoke to a duty manager at WHS some time ago over the state of toilets, she didnt know how to deal with me and had to ask advice to another manager, is it not a duty manager job to resolve it. Go revisit your services Moto , visited since opened but never got any better havent been back since February they have no idea what customer needs are.

Lee stewart

Lee stewart, 20 May 2011

Called in here other day decided to give lunch a miss in EDC flies all over cake table and when I mentioned it to the young girl at the till she just said yeah we always have that problem sorry, the restuarant has got 3 tills but only 1 manned and about 6 people in the Q.

Costa tills manned but 1 staff serving and making coffee ( I run a costa and know that you have to most times have 2 people doing this especially if busy)

I counted 7 tills in BK and only 2 serving with Q`s spreading out the door

WHS had 4 tills but again 1 Person on and trying to manage Q`s

M&S had the biggest Q reached the back of the store only 2 serving

Went to the petrol station to get some petrol there and 2 people working to sort a Q out that was nearly out the door - 4 tills only 2 people

How is this customer Focus and putting the customer first on there website they have hightlighted how they want to protect the enviroment, there policies and lots of offers , HOWEVER try to look at where they value customers I couldnt find it, so we know what there focus is .... money and looks like they are not interested in anything else or they get it.

Parking Charges - parked here for an afternoon a few week ago and spent money in the site relaxing with my family, just generally having a good break from driving from scotland to london , why then can they send me a fine for £80 (£50 if I am quick to pay)and then say its nothing to do with them at the services, surely if a third party is involved it is still the companys responsibilty to deal with it? just like its Tesco`s or Asda etc.. to deal with problem products is it the same difference ? there has to be a better system in there to park short term if you need to than this, I understand they have counters that you pay £12 upwards to park but surely you can park paying by hour , £80 fine does this mean I can claim back my food&drinks I bought and pay with that - its an absolute disgrace.

This is the second time I have been in this site in 2 weeks both times went into M&S and bought my lunch and still no forks( thats by my calculations 11 days with out) Staff said " sorry we havent any! " how do you eat pasta and salads with spoon , what a laugh , is this the same for all M&S`s, are they not free ????

Jon Reemer, 2 May 2011

I agree with Mike And Nish - this isn`t place for getting anything , and yeah might be a bit of parking more but trust me its probably loads better going to Wetherby Town Centre

I was In Friday in M&S 2pm Friday 30 April No Sandwiches(WHS had none either) and limited selection of other lunch or related products, incompetence when you actually see it was Busy-heaving is a word I would use, this is not the service you expect from a MOTORWAY " SERVICE " AREA.

I am going to log it with M&S customer Service too - this is totally unacceptable to any customer - is this reflective of the whole Moto?, I believe this is also a reflection of the Managers who run it and the staff working there.

I saw a comment on here about another services needed I think is an excellent idea, and should happen cant be any worse than here , as its evident that these cant cope at all.

That's something I was going to say Nish. Good idea! Wetherby is very close to the services and easy to get into town. The only drawback.....?
Hundreds more cars struggling for spaces in Morrisons! lol

Mike, 28 April 2011

Folks you see all these comments about Wetherby services. A poor situation. Why go in there. Do you relaise that you are only two minutes from Wetherby centre where you will find an abundence of super eating establishments and lots of local shops for shopping with plenty of free parking, so dont use these overpriced places and come and experience the lovely town of Wetherby instead.

Nish Kanabar, 27 April 2011

After I recieved a Parking Fine from here £80 for 2&1/2 hours I was absoultly furious as I had already spent in the region of £50 on Food & Drinks, Spoke to the site and they refered me to The company ( moving the blame ) for all you who may find it interesting here is a site on watch who may be able to help as they did me - it spots loop holes and wording on these places

Aggressive clamping. Extortionate ticket charges. And threatening letters. The private parking sector has long had an image problem.

Go to www.bbcwatchdog/parking charges

Chris W., 25 April 2011

Queued to get on here from motorway all way in, Queued inside for food what was the point as it was cold when we finally found a seat, asked the supervisor in costa to swap our coffees as they were cold he grunted and then eventually got them great customer eh ?

Looking at comment on this site agree staffing levels poor I know its easter weekend but still not enough, and now they have some stalls outside - WHS, COSTA they cant deal with inside never mind added to them so you will have queues outside and in , I have been here a few times but seems to be getting worse, Reckon another Services further up is long overdue

All I can say Is Disgraceful , Queues , place a complete mess , and couldnt find an area that was suitably clean to sit, What a joke, Also have "Managers" or " supervisors" any right to talk to staff the way they do , sounds like a hell of a place to work not something I would Take . Feel sorry for staff in there but giving it a miss in future.

Once again Someone blighted By a motorway servicesSaturday afternoon nice day expect to pop in get summat to eat and be on our way,

do I ask Is the forecourt a costa or a forecourt? because it sure is not either , you would expect it to be staffed for a start, I was in there a total of 30mins for petrol and 1 coffee

andrew burntwood, 21 March 2011

Would be a great services if not for queues , 10mins in M&S for a few sandwiches then 20mins in costa for 3 drinks - its no wonder people get fined here. speaking to people in queues they said like this most of time when busy , so only my recommendation is go when quiet !! didnt see much staff but reckon I saw Managers( well looked like anyway) didnt see them helping anywhere just back and fourth !!!

Adam jones, 21 March 2011

Parking charges! what a joke!! 2hrs 20mins here having a meeting!!even most placse are 3hrs free, spent at least £25 at costa on coffees etc... and lunch from M&S round about £35 , then 2 week later a £80 fine for parking there, when I phoned the services although all they did was refer me and discounted any blame again like they were reading from script - taking my meetings else from now on ....

JIM STOREY, 13 March 2011

Always had a good experience whenever I've stopped here, although admittedly it's usually been late and it's been fairly quiet.

Does anyone know when the road markings by the fuel area were changed? I believe HGVs now have priority when coming out of the side road.

Louise, Fully agree that this site is for such info as yours and welcome all comments on here, all i was doing was acknowledging and trying to send you in the direction of moto hq to let them know as well.Lets keep the comments on here as its a great site.

dosser666,
I think although it was a good idea, this is supposed to be forum for people to comment on services, if i did it via the site you suggest I would have a reply and voucher and knowone else would see what actually happens , I wasnt interested in a refund only commenting on how bad this is, If my experience was a good one I would have put it and give credit where due but not in this case - they couldnt pay me to go back there ...

Me, husband 3 boys stopped for some food on way to alton towers from newcastle seemed like a good place, bought all BKs what a rip off you expect to pay in these places but you dont expect them to get it wrong after waiting 20mins for the food, then looked at seating area as we ate and it was disgusting and filthy , will take a packed lunch in future

LOUISE, 5 March 2011

Someone only toldme this existed today, thought it would be nice to leave a comment ( IF I COULD FIND SOMETHING TO BE NICE ABOUT) friday afternoon shelves empty ???? tables dirty ???? and no staff ???( well think it was change over ) but however as a customer is this the right thing to see is this company got customers there first priority ??? its a trucker services and not catered for anyone else ( WHY NOT CHANGE THE NAME TO TRUCK STOP )not going here again will find a little village - for those of you who know Wetherby town centre is half mile from here and much more facilities and cheaper ??? much better ......

called at this service area today with my two children and disabled mum. The area is set out so well for a wheelchair and children.
We got mum straight inside with ease as there is a good drop off area. Once inside again one surface and a good disabled toilet.
The children loved the play area and their boxed lunch from the eat and drink area and mum had her muffin and dad his burgerking.
Staff very helpful and food good.
Overall excellent visit.
well done

4/1/2011,i payed 18 pounds for parking my lorry over night with a meal voucher which is fine ,however i was very un happy as the hot plate was empty minus a dryed out piece of fish,i asked for chicken which was so dried out i could not eat it,there was no mash but could wait 10 mins,no thanks, the chef even told me they had to bin the old mash because it had been on the hot plate SEVERN HOURS!!!!! i had chips which tasted like blanched chips, and no way was the chicken up to health and safety core temp.as an ex chef of 8 years that is not exceptable. after a 15 hour day it would be nice to have what i payed for.

Just thought it was worth mentioning that last week we had to travel south even though it snowed, My Family and I stopped at Wetherby Sevices due to length of the journey we were making.

We were met with staff digging out trucks and a plough clearing roads, and when we got inside it was clean, bright and staff were happy to assist with our orders - looks like the snow never even hindered these people.

It was nice to see that places dont shut down because of the snow and people are there to serve people like us when we need them

I stopped at the Services 21/11/2010 and purchased breakfast at 9.15a.m.Can I inform you that the food was cold served on cold plates and the staff were unresponsive to complaints. For a purchase price of 5.99 a head I would have expected much better. A shrugged shoulder from a staff member when a complaint is made is not good enough.

The Cashier was Martin Kuba
Trans # 4034

Purchase Cost 15.96

Unfortunately I am yet another customer who is disgusted by the parking charges at Wetherby services. We chose to stop at Wetherby in our motorhome, very late at night, to break a 300 mile journey towing our race car to a race meeting. Wetherby was the perfect place to stop (or so we thought) as it has designated parking areas for larger vehicles such as caravans, coaches & trucks, an M&S where we spent £85.00 on food shopping for our weekend away, we also filled up the motorhome with £100 of fuel and our racing jerry cans with another £125.00 of fuel. So, £310 spent at Wetherby & after a good rest we left the services very early the next morning to continue our journey.

All was well until I received a 'Parking Charge Reminder' in the post today from CP Plus Ltd., demanding £80.00 in payment for our few hours parking at Wetherby. The reminder refers to a 'notice' which was supposedly sent to me 28 days earlier - this was never received which seems commonplace after reading similar complaints about Moto & CP Plus Ltd.

I have checked the Moto website for Parking charges at Wetherby and it is very vague. I understand that the first 3 hours are free but you have to pay for a longer stay, although it is not clear what the charge is. When we were at Wetherby we did not see any signs regarding parking charges, either in the car park or in the services building.

What a shame after spending over £300 at the services! I travel thousands of miles each year and spend a fortune on fuel. Needless to say, will never stop at a Moto Services again & have also carefully read Martin Lewis' website regarding the trading practices of 'Private Car Parks'!

John, 8 October 2010

I was about to arrange to meet a colleague at Wetherby Service tomorrow (21/09/2010) before heading off up north to our Head Office. I am now thinking twice and will arrange somewhere else which will hopefully have a more positive write up. I like all the comments regarding parking!!!! Why o why would you charge for parking? Your guaranteed business from the motorway, treat your customer better and you will automatically make more bottom line profit due to more footfall!!!!

Lincoln Delve, 20 September 2010

Like most others here it seems I have been stung by the parking charges. £80 fine (reduced to £50 if I pay within a fortnight - how NICE). 3 occupants of the car managed to miss every parking sign (not convinced there were any at all obvious or visible). Obvious money making scheme, wonder how much extra revenue they make annually? What a scam! If I wasn't worried about the money I'd dispute it but I simply can't afford to go back to prove there was little signage and if I fail I can't afford the £80-£120 they would demand off me. They say tired drivers kill...seems you have to pay for the privilege of a good rest. Shocking.

Quite simply the most disgustingly dirty "food court" area I have tried to find a seat in with my family - tables and floor strewn with food and packaging - a singular lethargic cleaner collecting crockery and packaging and leaving the tables dirty - I thoght this was an isolated case whilst travelling north on Sunday 15th August but found the services in the same,if not worse state on the return journey south on Saturday 21st - As a frequent traveller between the midlands and the north east I'll look else where for my brief stops from now on. MOTO should be ashamed of the state of these services -

Peter, 22 August 2010

I know that Moto have an appeals process for anyone who feels they shouldn't have received a parking notice. If you or someone you know has been a customer or fallen asleep and a parking notice has been issued, log onto the moto web site and get in touch with them. They also have a duty manager available who can deal with any customer concerns or queries before you leave site.

Heather, 11 August 2010

Disabled visitors beware - OK good commercial practice to have to pass retails outlets to reach toilets - but when father needed to stop four times to sit and get his breath - not good - should have a separate disabled toilet near entrance. Also too crowded round esiting provision with narrow corridor and ATMs and leaflet rack causing people milling about preventing smooth access for the handicapped and able bodied likewise. And the door on the disabled toilet opened the wrong way.

Parking rip off

Can I add my voice to the complaints about the parking charges here after I made the mistake of arranging to meet people there and spent under 3 hours buying their concession's overpriced coffee?

Signage is poor, appeals process is a nonsense and charge is extortionate.

Frankly Moto out to be ashamed of themselves.

mark, 26 July 2010

Visited today, second time in a week. Firstly, there is obviously a problem with the toilets; they smell vile and are extremely hot and humid, with no ventilation at all. The food is expensive and even the sweets etc on sale at WH Smith is way over-priced - how about 80p for a Twix or Mars bar that usually sells for half that at any other shop?
The icing on the cake was the cafe seating area: absolutley filthy floors and tables with litter everywhere. Just not a nice place to be at all. This is a place I'll go out of my way to avoid in future.

I frequently travel throughout the year as I am a sales representative for the company I work for. While traveling, I usually stop at the Moto Services. I do so because in the past, I got exemplify outstanding customer service. However, that last time I visited Moto Wetherby , I was highly disappointed and unsure if I will ever stay at another Moto Services again. When I arrived , I noticed that there was a lot of trash on the ground, and some spilled coffee all over several of the tables in Costa. This is definitely out of the ordinary for this store, but I ignored it because the staff looked really busy and I was sure they were going to get around to cleaning it as soon as possible. I ordered my usual order - one large Americano with cream - and proceeded to wait twenty minutes for it! This would be understandable if they were brewing the coffee and it was fresh and hot when I got it, but the coffee was cold and bitter. When I asked the staff for a new coffee, they loudly sighed and rolled their eyes, and refused to give me a new coffee. This is not typical service that I get at Costa, so I was really blown away. I love Costa products and I am a very frequent customer, so this really tarnished my opinion of the chain.
I would highly consider evaluating the employees at the Moto Wetherby, as they are degrading the name of the company.

Mark Sellars , 23 May 2010

Arrived exhausted at 2215 hours at Wetherby Services after driving alone for several days while visiting relatives. There were NO noticeable signs on entry to make tired drivers aware after sunset. I parked in an isolated area. Woke up about 5 hours later (yes I was that tired), went to the loo and drove home to the Highlands. Then the fine of £80 arrived yesterday. Tiredness kills, you are advised to rest, yet you are penalised for not knowing rules on motorway services.

Heather Eilbeck, 1 April 2010

as a hgv driver I had to stop here.
clean showers but not very warm !!
I counted at least 8 cleaners mopping and brushing but they all seemed to be doing the same area again and again, it was quite funny really..
paying for parking includes a food voucher but you cant use it in BK.
The food in the eat and drink restaurant was overpriced with small portions and when i complained that the food was not very warm the look of disgust !!
the voucher is £7.50 which is about the same as most of the meals, but if you want a drink thats when they rip you off even more !!!
BE WARNED...you must pay the parking charge or you will get stung with a fine so if you nod off on a sunday snooze it will cost you....

simon woodall, 27 December 2009

On a wet and windy day I arrived for a business lunch at Moto Wetherby and parked near the hotel as the car park was pretty full - it appeared to simply be part of the motorway services car park. I paid for several drinks and a meal for three people then drove the hundred or so miles back home again. A week later I received a parking bill for £80, reduced to £50 if I paid within 14 days. As this is a brand new development it is quite obvious that the car park has been deliberately designed to extract the maximum amount of money from unwary visitors. There should be a large and clearly visible delineation between the Moto Services free parking area and the adjoining hotel parking area. This sort of scam must earn them a huge revenue and the owners of this business do not deserve our custom.

Nick C, 3 December 2009

Claustraphobic, but clean, modern and full of facilities. Bunged, no where to sit down. Ok, taking in the fact it serves the M1 as well as the A1(M)

CM, 28 November 2009

For those people that got charge fines for parking at the Whetherby service station . Go to Martin Lewi's website, to get help on how not to pay these cowboys. They wanted £80. of me!!!

Joe, 17 November 2009

sharon groom, 16 November 2009

Actually thought this place was ok, well thought out new facility. Yes expensive, but that's services for you!

Chris W, 15 October 2009

Be very wary if you have a business meeting here. I stayed over 2 hours not reading the car park signs correctly and a few weeks later out the blue got a totally rip off parking charge for £80. I was horrified as I had spent money on coffees and lunches in the services at vastly inflated prices. I will never visit again and have told all my business colleagues and friends to spread the word. I am disgusted!

Brenda Mullen, 22 August 2009

Car park jam packed - and a big one at that! Good and clean and bright, prompt service (even though at lunchtime). Hope this is the future of Motorway Services, some I have stopped at have been abysmal!

M Edwards, 17 August 2009

excellent service, very clean and plenty of space.

simon smith, 29 July 2009

Stopped for 5 hours to take a rest , spent over £20 in restaurantin that 5 hours. Left site, two weeks later recieved a fixed penalty fine of £80 for failing to pay for a parking ticket. There are no ticket machines here , i did not see any signage about parking . They tell you on the parking fine you need to pay at till in restaurant, pity they dont bleeding tell you that before you leave.
Better off going up to scotch corner to stop. far better value for money.

adam wheeler, 24 June 2009

Will never stop at this service area again. Stopped for 5 hours and received an £80 fixed penalty fine 2 weeks later through the post. No mention of having to pay when i arrived, nobody in services pointed this out, not even the next morning when i paid an astonishing £15 for two breakfasts. My opinion is stear well clear of this so called truck stop. It should be called truck dont stop unless you want to be ripped off !.
Visit their web site no mention of having to pay to stay.

adam wheeler, 24 June 2009

A refreshing stop with very helpful staff. I liked the 'airport' feel to the place with all the different brands to choose from. More services like this please!

K. Adames, 13 May 2009

It's a welcoming building - very airy and light - not your average service stop-off. Very clean and great service. Actually made a trip to a service station enjoyable - which is VERY unusual.

A Allman, 1 May 2009

had full english breakfast eggs and fried bread only freshly cooked things on plate everything else at least two to three hours old left most of it and have been ill now for two days will probably go to doctors tomorrow if no improvement to see if i have food poisoning

carl poley, 30 April 2009

So clean and modern and possibly the way of the future for all service areas. Fantastic, 10/10!

John M McGarry, 24 April 2009

an amazing service area, so bright and clean, went to the toilets and 3 staff members in there cleaning, makes all other services look bad, well done moto!! also a great range of shops!!

matthew davis, 20 April 2009

Moto Services, EDC eat & drink co, This cafe/resturant was FILTHY!!!!!! not one clean table to be found, when we complained to the assistant Manager Mark Copperwheat, he replied, 'yes I know, I'm sorry we are trying to sort out to get the tables cleared and then clean up the place !! Sorry,! I have photos of this disgusting dirty unhealthy cafe !!!!

Wendy Beharrell, 20 April 2009

Amazing. My wife and I have never been to a service area like it. So clean and modern.

George Marlin, 17 April 2009

Very good services - as you'd expect from new services!

Seems clean, bright and light with M&S Food, WH Smith, Costa, Burger King as well as the usual food outlet.
