Burger King:To run out of bacon by 9.30am on a Saturday morning at one of the busiest services in the North is just very poor management. Also no croissant left? What did they plan on putting on their double cheese bacon burgers for the rest of the day?
Lorna Garrick, Sat 24 Sep 2016
Waited 15 mins for Burger King after being 2nd in queue. They only seemed to have 2 staff and the queue was swiftly about 10 long. Not even an apology for the wait. The burger was average, chips Luke warm and drink not cold. The problem lace was nearly empty otherwise yet we couldn't find a clean table! Will pass this one by next time for sure.

Brilliant service as always from the costa guys at the bottom special mention to the guy in the managers top !

I nice to hear my daughter has just walked out for that and that managers name is Tara cundal. She is the most arrogant rude and unfriendly team player who should set an example to her staff they have more decorum than her yes it is disgusting and yes she should be sacked and if you as a customer picked up on that then least you and me have brains tgankyou

Hi ring Sara Milligan075543300
As a HGV driver I called in today for a shower. £3 charge, fair enough, but being told to join the queue at the restaurant counter to pay & collect the shower key was appaling. Only 1 member of staff serving, must have queued 15 minutes . Terrible service. Don't know why it carn't be done at the shop, like everywhere else.

A tired mum coming back home from the north… grabbing a Costa express at the Petrol station and cool drinks for the kids (it was after 8.30pm) I got charged for my costa coffee twice. So went back to the till to tell them of their error. The young man swore under is breath. Did not apologise. Made a call. Then spent the next 15 minutes fluffing to find a card press machine… they pressed my card and said a refund will be given. I was appalled at this behaviour. It was their fault not mine. And then after getting into the car, looking at the paper, my card details for the refund is not very clear at all, how they heck are they going to be able to refund me this money? Because of their disgusting behaviour and my kids getting agitated, i could not be bothered to go back in, but feel robbed. :-( I am just now trying to find who to contact, but I know I won't have much luck and they got away with it.

My daughter worked for Moto at Wetherby for a short while....during her time there she carried out a job that she didn't attend an interview for, which was £3,000 less than she agreed and not anything like the job she accepted to do. She is a hard worker always giving 110% with nothing more than bullying tactics given in response by her manager (Heather) shifts swapped at a moments notice, told she didn't have any holidays and told to work days off, no breaks during an 8 hour shift with nothing to eat or drink....when she dared to complain or question the return answer was that if she didn't do as she was told then she would be sacked as other staff would also have the same treatment!!! She had to leave as it was causing her distress and ill health. What a sham of a business ethic towards enthusiastic staff where they become demorillised and ill. A concerned parent.

Excellent services really clean and good choices of places to eat. Staff polite and helpful.

Visited this services with my husband at lunchtime last Tuesday [10/06]. We both had a bun and a drink then continued our journey. By the time we arrived in Newcastle, I had stomach gripes - and other unpleasant symptoms. To cut a long story story we had to return home the next morning, as I was so ill [so out of pocket for all the prepaid hotel rooms on the rest of our tour]. Turns out it was food poisoning - due to faulty hygiene. It is now Sunday and I'm starting to recover -- but I'll NEVER visit this services again.
gill martin, Sun 15 Jun 2014
We have just visited with a caravan. After following the signs directing us to the area for caravans & coaches the caravan bays were occupied. As there were spaces in the coaches bays we parked there. An attendant marched over and his opening comment was "is this yours? You can't park there or you're liable to a fine". My husband said he'd parked there as there was no room. He then said he needed to move to where the lorries were. How customwrs are expected to know that parking in the coaches area was prohibited but parking in the lorries area wasn't I have no idea! He said we shouldn't come on a Saturday and expect to be able to find a space! The man was arrogant and rude. He wouldn't watch my husband reverse out of the space and was a complete "jobs worth" he needs to go on a customer services course or get a new job!

if you where disabled youd have would have a key!!!
Anonymous, Thu 12 Jun 2014
I was very disappointed recently when I visited the service station to find as a disabled person I needed a radar key to use the disabled toilet. Unfortunately it is not always custom and practice to carry a radar key , I found the hand washing water stone cold and not suitable for hygiene regulations. If environmental health come a calling could struggle to be in business potential risk of breach of hygiene regulations.

Stopped on Friday 223rd at 12:15 to grab a sandwich and a coffee. Was anticipating leaving 30mins later. Didnt bank on carpark gridlock and eventually got on the road again at 14:20! Judging by other comments this appears to happen occassionally. Suggest the design is looked at to improve matters. Not sure I'll be in a hurry to stop here again
Stuart, Tue 27 May 2014
Fantastic service station really impressed with service in baguette shopKids loved the cream cakes in Gregg's pleasant friendly staff and good prices
Iain, Thu 22 May 2014
Visited this services over the last 2 years and I must say that the Site Manager is a disgrace & should be dismissed or retired off ( looks old enough ). On most occasion when I visit she just bullies & insulates staff if front of customers, I would never be spoken to like that. Some of the staff I have got to know over the time I have visited has comment that she has lost 6 managers over the last few months because of how she treats them, they also say that her attitude is SACK everyone over the most minor things !Directors or someone should move her on or retire the old trout !!
The Staff are great even in such a bullied environment !

This service area has such a buzz going on. Very very busy but everyone really friendly in all the stores. They where having a fund raising day for help for heroes which i understnd the company supports. Moto you should be proud of yourselves and all your people at this center as they really brought a smile to all the publics faces AND raised funds for help for heroes. My family and myself discussed the place for the rest of our journey that day.

i am writing to praise the thoughtful and present customer service i received when i visited your unit in wetherby service station B1224.on my way to exercise i had called in at your unit after along drive from germany. i was greeted by a lovely lady beginning with C, she wore glasses and spoke with a foreign accent. (please forgive the name - Cameil?) i have been working long hours and her name has slipped my mind, apologies.the lady serving was extremely attentive, polite and had recognised that i was a member of HMS Military. the lady had then given a discount to my meal, which i was most grateful for.i wasnt waiting for the meal long at all. the meals had just swapped from breakfast to main meals of the day and, i had the best chicken wrap with a coffee.the serving lady was smiley had offered extras and had a lovely smile.the discount was extremely kind. other outlets should follow in your footsteps for military personnel and take a leaf from your book in customer service.if i am in the area again, i will most definatly be visiting your unit again.please recognise that i have taken time out of my working schedule to write this letter of appraisal, and for the lady in question to be congratulated on her efforts in providing exceptional customer service.
amanda, Thu 24 Apr 2014
foolishly i left the services area yesterday without my walking bag and to retrieve it have spent the better part of today on the a1.more important i now have my bag and its contents thanks to the wetherby staff who retrieved it, safe stored it, checked my ownership and handed it back to me today. both paul jewitt and victoria facey rejected my suggestion that a reward of some kind might be appropriate at least to the individual who retrieved the bag. i am impressed by this and pleased to acknowledge the honesty, service ethic and helpfulness of your staff.please thank them for me and if you are able, process this donation along with the proceeds of your appeal on behalf of help for heroes. perhaps you could communicate to those concerned that this donation is of their making

11th April 2014 - We were at the service station when some idiot decided to key my car, after asking a shop owner how to get into touch with security to view CCTV (we were parked right next the building) the site manager arrived after 20 minutes. I was informed that despite thinking my car was safe at 11am in the morning the CCTV only covers the building and not the car park. So the vandal has got away with it. It is ok for them to have CCTV for the purposes of ripping you off for car parking charges if you stay 1 minute over but arent concerned about customer safety nor that of my property even though it is me who pays the ridiculously high prices in the service station. Profit comes before the customer safety or well being. I have a crime ref number from the Police but they were just as useless as the site manager. My wife has said that she will be careful in the future using this Service Station as she would not feel comfortable at night with no CCTV coverage. I took it for granted that it would be covered.

Visited about 1.30 pm on 12/04/14.
Gridlock in the carpark. Won't be stopping here again. I left eventually feeling more stressed having added about an hour to my long journey. I dont think the orange barriers helped, they seemed to be part of the problem,???

PCN 0422140130055I am a frequent user of the Weatherby service, it is always been a stop when i need to rest and in my plans in my long trips up north with my family and my self. I pulled over as usual to rest as i don't want to have an accident when i woke up i drove off, i know nothing about any 2 hour max law nor did i see or read any such statement as i was tired... I did pay 50£ today but I would like to claimed back, I think is an unfair charge that will make me strongly think again to use this facilities or expend a penny in this motorway again.
Marcos Beaumont, Wed 19 Feb 2014
Greggs very rude and disinterested when asking for military discount. Don't expect itBut every other moto offers 20% on production of if card. All military should avoid this andGo inside instead
Ian Sellers, Fri 14 Feb 2014
Usually a lovely place, but really gone down hill in last few weeks. Costa staff rude too busy flirting with each other to serve and clear tables
Anonymous, Wed 12 Feb 2014
I would like to say a huge thank you to Paul Jewitt at Wetherby for finding my handbag that I had left in the toilets and arranging for it to be locked away safely until my return journey some days later. I was very lucky it hadn't been stolen. Paul was extremely understanding and helpful. Many, many thanks.
Alison Malcolm, Sun 12 Jan 2014
This is a first rate facility, plenty of options for food (I think I counted at least 5 outlets), a nice and modern hotel (Days Inn), and even an M&S. The main seating area is light and spacious. My only complaint is the car park which was a little crowded and I didn't like the layout (some weird one way system as you go in which seemed unnecessary).
A few people have described this services as dirty, I could not see any sign of that at all it appeared very clean to me (including the toilets)? The comments I see are in reference to the showers costing £5 to use are concerning, but given the issues they seem to have had with users abusing the shower facilities (poo found smeared on the walls) I have to say I'm with Moto on this one, rather than being 'outraged' at Moto, perhaps the HGV drivers should point there anger at those who abuse the facilities?

Having to spend a lot of time on the road visiting elderly parents both north and south we have called at many many services and can honestly say this service area is by far the best in friendliness and available different products. The staff are lovely and always remember us if we have my mother in a wheelchair with us in costa moving chairs for her. I have looked at the comments on this page and shocked that people say certain people should not use the services. Young people are just that and visual looks do not make them any different. Well done Moto we love your services
carol peters, Wed 30 Oct 2013
We have visited this service station many times and found it to be really clean and a good choice of food establishments - however yesterday 26th August 2013 we visited it for the last time!! What has happened to the world - yesterday I saw sights that I do not wish to see again! Leeds Festival Goers - if I'm not allowed in supermarkets in pyjamas then surely people being allowed in eating establishments and using toilets facilities whilst wearing no shoes and covered head to toe in mud and dirt shouldn't be allowed in. In fact my husband wouldn't even use the toilets due to the state of the festival goers. If I visited a food establishment in a shopping centre or on the high street whilst covered from head to toe in dirt and mud and without shoes - I don't think I would be served in fact I think I wouldn't even get a foot in the door so surely a service station should be the same !!!! The majority of the these visitors where only using the services of the toilets - so come on Moto look after all your visitors and please ensure that people are at least clean and properly dressed with shoes before entering your establishment!
Karen S, Tue 27 Aug 2013
Very nice services with clean toilets. Very friendly staff and good amount of space for customers at Costa, Burger King and EDC. Definitely would visit this services again.
Anonymous, Sat 20 Jul 2013
In my years on this planet I must have stopped at these services around 100 times, and have come to this conclusion. It's fine.
If there are a lot of people wanting a Burger King, there tends to be a queue. The queue tends to shorten when there's less people wanting a Burger King.
The services is placed in such a way that it services the majority of people from many different directions. This is why it is busy. Placing the services away from a busy motorway would defeat the point rather.
If you park and stay there for longer than the time stated, then you get a ticket. If you return within your time, you don't get a ticket.
If it's busy, you have to park further away, as many people who tend to stop at services own vehicles. When it's quieter, then you can park closer.
The cleaner goes round on a rota system. The cleanest parts are generally the areas that have just been cleaned, and the least clean parts are the areas which were cleaned the least recently.
The bathrooms contain sinks, toilets, hand dryers, chewable toothbrushes and reasonably priced contraceptives. I don't really see what else is needed.
What I'm saying is that this service station functions well as a service station. It fails miserably as a gourmet restaurant, five-star hotel and creche, mostly because it's neither of those three things.
However, if your main requirements for a services are a place to park, a place to use the bathroom and a place to buy some food and drink, you'll be satisfied.
Jackson G., Tue 2 Jul 2013
We called at Wetherby services on Thursday with a National Holidays coach tour.Having walking difficuty we were forced to walk the full length of the services to the main entrance from the bus park and again almost the length of the services inside to the toilets and same distance on return as the entrance at the bus park end has been blocked off to create a sitting area for Costa Coffee.Quite clearly this is in total disregard for clients with walking difficulties.
Leslie F Cay, Sun 23 Jun 2013
What fab people at this service area. They have just looked after all 36 of us in a quick organised manner. We are all members of pathfinders and travelling to scotland from the south. Rang them yesterday to see if we could order breakfast in advance for 8am. They were so helpful, sorted breakfast with the eating area with a choice of traditional english or burger king. They ended up doing both for us and could not have been better! Clean toilets with fresh flowers what a place.Thank you to Helen who looked after us all.

Mick Jamaline, Tue 7 May 2013
Thanks to the staff who kindly helped my wife on 18th March 2013 when she tripped and fell onto her face on the very poorly designed and laid stone slips on the walkway from the coach park area to the main entrance. In fact the staff said that no-one should walk on it leading me to believe there have been more accidents. She has recovered well but only after a lot of blood, cuts and brusies. Again thanks to those staff members. I trust management are looking at this design and making changes, have they carried out a risk assessment?
Costa coffee price of flat white £3.20 and in Norwich Costa £2.40,how come?? Not an enjoyable place for us.
MR D M CARR, Mon 1 Apr 2013
This place has just got worse and worse since opening. I recently pulled in for a coffee, but it was such a disastrous episode that I actually wrote to MOTO, something I've never done before in my life. An area manager had the courtesy to call me, but there the courtesy finished. I was told that I must have been mistaken as they had run the CCTV and could see no evidence of my complaint. In other words, I'd interrupted my journey for a coffee, didn't manage to get served, left empty handed after half an hour and imagined it all. I'm a twice a week Scotland to England traveller and I'll give all you a tip. Use the M6 for Tebay, or continue up the A1 to Scotch Corner Services where there is now a Marks & Sparks, Supermarket priced Fuel, and polite staff at the Costa. Avoid Wetherby like the plague. By the way Mrs Moto, I don't work for your rivals, but carry on thinking that every complainant does. Wake up and smell the Coffee.... you might as well, you won't taste unless you have an hour to queue!!
Peter Davies, Mon 4 Mar 2013
Just been sent a £50 fine for parking in the car park. Never again!! Over priced food drink and petrol is expected but to be charged this on top is just sheer greed. I used to meet business colleugues here but will now make alrenative arrangements .My top tip is don't stay over the 2 hours .....by going elsewhere!
Barry Fitzpatrick, Sat 16 Feb 2013
Busy at times and yes queues but, plenty of staff especially in the Costa and staff actually doing their best to serve and provide decent service. Cup of coffee was hot and freshly made, grabbed sandwich from M&S. Like it or not... the best choice along this part of the A1.
Brendan, Wed 13 Feb 2013
Disgusted at Wetherby services for charging H.G.V. drivers £5 for a shower. I have spent money here in the past, but never again unless they let lorry drivers get a free shower. I complained to a Heather Roberts who is the manageress here and she told me I could have a free shower if I parked up for the night or if I bought fuel from them ( oh yea, about 16p a litre dearer than what I normally pay)Wetherby services- FUCK OFf
David Shiel, Sun 10 Feb 2013
FREE toilets, FREE seating, FREE wi-fi, £5 for a shower. I've not been insulted like that for a long time. £5 to get yourself clean is a disgrace and an insult to people who work away from home and have no other way to keep personal hygiene. I can say that i did not pay this extortion and therefore carried on to the next service area where it was FREE to clean myself. Here is my FREE bit of opinion to the owners of Whetherby Services, FUCK YOU, YOU ROBBING BASTARDS!!!!!!!
andy scoble, Thu 7 Feb 2013
Having stopped here for a brek & found that they have converted the petrol station into M&S, which is great if you need a quick stop. But I was horrified when I realised I had left my mobile on the counter where I payed. But there was a fantastic response to the situation as a member of staff had found my mobile & called my parents from it who then imformed me when I got home that it had been found. I was overjoyed. The member of staff then posted it to me special delivery and I had my phone back. Well Done Shaun Morrill, the Manager of the M&S Forecourt, great customer service. Thank you again.
Mrs Mcbride, Sun 13 Jan 2013
Wasn`t too happy with the service I recieved from this services, I queued to get in the services ( lack of organisation in the carpark), I queued in the main food hall ( lack of staff and not trained ), then I waited nearly 10minutes when I wanted to speak to a manager ( apparently they were dealing with another complaint, suprise suprise), and the customer service I recieved from him, unsure of his name (no badge),I think he worked in M&S Simply Foods though. lack of alot of things in one go and by the sound of it I wasnt the only one.
Jane Davenport, Fri 28 Dec 2012
I would be ashamed to brand these services on the A1@Wetherby this was dirty, I refused to eat there after I sat down and saw the build up of dirt and stains that were very well weeks old, they may be quick and queues might be good but at what cost?
Julie Pattison, Sun 16 Dec 2012
service area was very busy and a bit chaotic inside, but we got our coffees reasonably quickly as there were about six different places to get tea and coffee. would use again when on the A1
Jon Blakemoore, Sun 16 Dec 2012
Stopped here for a quick toilet and coffee stop this morning, big open building, not cramped, light and airy. Decent cup of coffee (usual Costa), slightly odd looking queue line for toilets but imagine this services can be busy so at least they are trying to do something to help. Clean and tidy.
Keith O'Brien, Wed 12 Dec 2012
Just like to share my experiences from the other day when I visited these services, normally I am not one to make a fuss or complain but a mistake by the girl at WHS not once but twice in the same tranaction caused me question it with the girl serving me.
there was 2 items I bought that were clearly priced wrong, when I highlghted it to the cashier she said "that what the till says so thats what they are" , I know that this isnt right so she got me the person in charge at the time, who then came at least 3minutes after she had phoned her from her office, then when I explained it to her she puffed and blowed like it was my fault, rectified my money and charged me the correct price but it was like I had disturbed her from whatever she was doing, and said "i wish people would read signs properly" to the girl at the till.
I never even recieved a sorry or apoligy for any of it throughout. dispicable display of customer service indeed, if thats what the rest is like give it a miss. I have since wrote to Moto direct too as this type of behaviour shouldnt be tolerated.
Justine Wrenshope, Mon 10 Dec 2012
queues and no staffing in the main building area , then they put an M&S in the forecourt now you queue twice as long as before for petrol when it was a BP - its staffing levels better customers need like me not more services that cant be managed properly
Emmet Brown, Sat 8 Dec 2012
Visited this services for a drink and a rest stop , found it quite unappealling, was Travelling with my mother and son, we commented on was how staff were unfriendly and customer service was non exsistant we were overcharged at costa & when we complained to a supervisor the got us a duty manager call Jon? Jonathon ? (I think) and he was no help either and arrogant we got our money back but was charged for something tht advertised a different price.
Rose King, Mon 3 Dec 2012
Called in here today with my mother and young son. My son wanted Burger King, mother wanted Costa and I wanted a salad from M&S. It was great that we could get what we wanted and then sit together to eat it. Will stop here on the way back at the weekend.

Long time since I visited the North, normally go to roadchef on M1 south or nearby cherwell valley, always found them fresh, and being on the road all the week I need to have somewhere to work & eat , but been 2 years since I was on A1 and seen a change for the worse, queues are worse , cleaning is non exsistant , and staff / managers attitude are disgraceful, I am glad to say I dont visit here often, the cherwell one and the roadchef I use are what a services should be like
Julia Theyre, Wed 14 Nov 2012
Use this one about 3 times a month, much better in the last few months now they have got rid of the freeloaders using the showers.
Finn O'Toole, Wed 7 Nov 2012
Used to like these services when first opened, but in the last year or so the standards have declined badly. Being a trucker, myself, and many others, rely on good, clean, value-for-money facilities to get us through the week. However, I find moto service areas no longer provide this facility. Expensive parking, poor food, rude management (staff do what they can, but follow company rules). Security throughout the site is lacking, considering how much you pay to park, despite their 'not our responsibility' attitude, moto still charge for parking, so should accept some respnsibility for their parking are as. Just found out you now have to pay for parking to get a shower, when surely a payment of £2/£3 should do? Won't use Moto anymore, might as well park in a layby/ind. estate overnight - at least I don't have to pay for no security/expensive facilities/indifferent money making corporate managed rudeness.
Jonny The Driver, Tue 23 Oct 2012
customer service terrible in WHS & marks what a terrible place , supervisors arrogant and staff apologise for them hows that right ? giving it a miss next time, thanks moto for reassuring me that the industry hasnt improved in 20yrs
John Ennvony, Sun 14 Oct 2012
Showers much better now that you have to get the key from the cafe
uch cleaner and no queue
frank rogers, Thu 11 Oct 2012
I was in the services the other day, it was busy but nothing like organised, all i saw was stressed customers and annoyed from queuing, and as for a place to sit, we ended taking our food back to the car as I saw most did. The services is clearly not well managed for the volume - about time another was built.
as for the prvious comment (toe?) - clearly can see the services write there own reviews, you need to tone the customer service bit to be believeable
Richard Thompson, Tue 14 Aug 2012
my family and i had a really good experience when we stopped off at this services at the weekend.when we entered the services it was really busy but it was nice to see all tills manned in most of units and all managers was out front helping with queues and clearing tables. my niece had an accident as she spilt her juice all over the concourse so i asked a cleaner who was walking passed at time to help me and he was really kind and willing to help. i then took the kids into whsmiths to buy some sweets and magazines for our journey on the way out of the shop i spotted some wet suits but the sizes i wanted wasnt out i asked a lady at the till and she went in the back to have a look for me, i was really grateful as the shop had a queue at time. the cashier came back with the sizes i wanted and was very appologetic for the sizes not been out. she then took the time to acknowledge the kids and she was so down to earth. its really nice to go some were and all though they are run off there feet they dont let the customers see they probably are stressed. thanks for a great service. ill be sure to let everyone know about my great experience

Stayed in hotel last night and found so refreshingly good standard. Bought M&s crab salad, just made baguettes with ham and cheese from sandwich shop and a bottle of wine. Sorted! Not raining for a change so sat outside and enjoyed ourselves as children safe because area fenced off from road.Clean freindly staff.thank you

I am a trucker who pays to park and SHOWER!Iand others previously had to wait up to 30 minutes for a shower and followed people washing clothes, pots and even someone who used it as a toilet. You guys used them to wash then park up in a layby or trading estate and keep your overnight money!Thank you sevices as i can now shower , eat and get my head down for an early start!
chris roberts, Tue 31 Jul 2012
stopped here yesterday Friday at about 1115am--the place was not too busy but the service was terrible--long wait for coffee & the tables , chairs & floors were VERY DIRTY. The coffee was ok but WAY OVERPRICED. I expect to be a little more expensive but I stopped at another Costa later in the day (in a prime location)& the price for Flat White was £2.40---same at Wetherby £3.65. This is blatant robbery--I will never stop there again & will tell others the same.

dirty filthy place, who would want to stop here?!!! we did in desparation, dirty tables and floors and as soon as the staff realise they are serving a trucker there attitude changes to arrogant, or maybe they are just like that all the time. maybe if all truck drivers boycotted your filthy hellhole your takings would drop dramatically and you would realise where your profits really come from!!! SHAME ON YOU!!
helen stephenson, Thu 5 Jul 2012
I would like to add to the complaints that truck drivers now have to pay £19 for a shower at these services. We don't all have the luxury of being able to park in the services - partly due to route planning for load and also cost - so now I am reduced to washing in the basins in the ladies - get fed up with the looks for doing that but at least I can tell the general public about the appalling way MOTO are treating the truckers and hopefully convince them to use another services in future!!
Karen Bancroft, Mon 2 Jul 2012
Over-priced and badly designed. To get to the loos, which is most people's priority when they stop at services, you enter at one end of the building, walk almost the full length of it down a not-wide-enough walkway then walk halfway back before you reach a not-big-enough toilet area. Crowding is therefore designed in. What a shambles. Avoid if possible.
Gordon Mason, Mon 2 Jul 2012
Nothing much different here to other services, Grotty looking tired , unhelpful staff no customer service, I reckon this kind of industry needs to be re-vamped.Moto are not exactly the best if Wetherby is the best they offer.
G.Garside, Sun 1 Jul 2012
Two carloads of us on a long trip stopped of here for lunch and to freshen up.the place was like a football match, queuing for ages to use the toilets that were stinking, one of the hand wash areas was broken as were some of the driers.Stood queuing again for a long time to buy lunch that was overpriced and uneatable, decided to have coffee at Costa long que miserable staff hard to find a table that was not full of dirty cups, and the floor was littered with spilt food .The icing on the cake was a letter in the post a week later fining me £90.00 for overstaying the parking limit. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask.

poor service. have to pay to get a shower..us truckers are treated poorlybetter off in ferrybridge services.

Queues, dirty tables, and ignorant staff what more can you ask for when you are travelling ten hours. give it a miss it will never get better, I went to wetherby only half of mile away and much better

dirty services, totally over priced and food quality simply so poor. thank god for m & s... stayed over at the hotel for a night as visiting the area. we recieved a parking ticket from cp parking who did nothing but continually threaten us.. now taking cp parking to court. they have no manners and there conduct is astonishing. we have proof of staying at the hotel but they are not interested. i cant tell how infuriating it is... i hate moto services with a passion and will not be stopping at them any more onour motorway travels..
watchdog uk have been infgormed and seems they have several complaints already about cp parking issuing tickets wrongly and then refusing to cancel them.
they can explain to a judge in court why they refuse to acknowledge my ticket and refuse t ocancel it.
DO NOT USE MOTO SERVICES. THEY CANT BE TRUSTED.
paul williams, Fri 22 Jun 2012
We have used these services on several occasions in the past. The quality of the cleaning has deteriorated over the last 18 months. The cleanliness of the seating was dreadful and the state of the floor was worse than a pigsty with food and litter everywhere. We could not walk in the seating area without stepping on chips or other food items. The price of the food was bordering on extortion. The toilets needed a good clean and the hand wash facilities were poor.
Family with disabled member, Sat 16 Jun 2012
Typical services , poor staffing unhelpful not to mention foreign staff who cant understand you or what you are trying to ask for
Anonymous, Sat 16 Jun 2012
My family and I stopped at this service area recently. Extremley busy lots of customers. Kids had Burger King there was a queue but seemed to be served quite quickly. We had baguettes, staff were friendly, baguettes were fresh, pleasant lunch! Will definetley stop here again.
ian, Fri 8 Jun 2012
queues glaore, dirty tables ( if you can find somewhere to sit ) and wrong orders. Really not the best when you are travelling.
Janine Summer, Sun 3 Jun 2012
once again blighted by a services that is dirty, and not customer friendly, had to queue 40 mins for a coffee and no apology, all the young lad said was sorry we arent allowed any more staff. Then I had to find a cleantable to sit. if you value being a customer dont come here.
Jean Saltzer, Sun 20 May 2012
I have used this services about 4 times, and always found it to be the same understaffed poor quality & not customer friendly, just in the other day and was disgusted by the way I was treated in the WHS from a female manager after I queried a wrong price on display. I walked out disgusted & her comments were "and as a customer you are wrong most of the time if the customer was right we wouldnt be in business", hence to say I wont be visiting again here.

If the Wetherby Services are not to your liking come into Wetherby Town Centre where you will be greeted with free parking, lots of cafes including a nice Costa, several pubs and floral displays that are resplendent!
Sue Turner, Sun 15 Apr 2012
Dont want to be the one to tell you matthew but the comments arent all about car park ! read the comments Q`s , dirty , understaffed on busy days , tell me now that this is a great services . Frustrates me that people dont see the obvious , thats what it is about.
Mr Tony burns, Thu 12 Apr 2012
I am really surprised at some of the comments on here. I used Wetherby services last year over the Easter break and was impressed with the changes that they had introduced this year. If you look at the number of people using the site at the same time the site had put measures in place to deal with this. It was great to see some sort of car park management system being used. There was a small delay in entering the car park however this is to be expected. The barriers that were put in place helped to control how people entered and exited the car park, which in my opinion was a big improvement on past years.
Matthew Betteridge, Wed 11 Apr 2012
another school holiday another services blighted with queues , slow staff or no staff , dirty tables & poor service . I asked for a manager to explain my problem but got fed up waiting for one when I asked the young lad in M&S who never came back.
Martin Roberts, Wed 11 Apr 2012
Shocking service station. Idiots blocking off all of the lanes up and down the parking area meaning people had to drive all around the place (past lots of empty spaces!). No-one gave way for me to actually get out of my space at the top end of parking area as there was carnage everywhere. Inside was dreadful with people milling about not having anywhere to sit/understaffed "food" outlets, dirty toilets etc. I would rather drive up or down to the next service station than stop here again.
J, Sat 7 Apr 2012
Another typical Motorway services by the Moto group - car park confusing , understaffed , queues ,foreign people who dont unerstand customers & grubby in places despite the new building it the same. Dressing it up with a new building doesnt make it a better services. do something constructive for once & listen to customers
Mr.Tony Burns, Wed 4 Apr 2012
First off the BP petrols station here charges about 10p more than anywhere else, so avoid if possible. There are also a few potholes and speed bumps to negotiate in and out which is annoying.
Apart from that it's the usual overpriced stuff (£2.25 for a teabag and some hot water), but in a light modern "eco" building which makes a change.
johan gilstrecht, Thu 29 Mar 2012
Could someone please point out to Burger King that they are ment to be a fast food outlet (especially at a motorway service centre). I use wetherby services regularly and always have to wait for 10 mind or more for service and for my food
Rachel bailey, Wed 28 Mar 2012
Not the worst place I have been but definatley not the best, felt grubby and uninviting, and no customer service at all, worked within this industry for alot of years and nothing changes. as always staff focused on tasks not customers.

Friday Afternoon, just pulled of to get some petrol and a drink, waiting for a pump for 15minutes, then when finally got on a pump and into the shop, 2 people serving and queue to the back of the shop nearly??? and having 4 tills ?? was in there for a total of 40minutes, fast efficent service - definatley not!

Went into Costa on Sunday for quiet coffee , far from it ? queued for 2 coffees then they got order wrong , and seating area felt cramped one member of staff bumped our table twice spilling our coffee a bit ( all we got was a sorry), not exactly a relaxing morning. off to Wetherby one in future.
Ben Richards, Tue 24 Jan 2012
If you are thinking of pulling off the motorway here do yourself a favour head for Wetherby, cheaper parking, cheaper & better quality food, and lots more choice and scenery, and less queues, "Discover Wetherby" from the comments here is it any wonder that people revisit it.
Matthew West, Fri 30 Dec 2011
Queued nearly an hour off the motorway at Wetherby to find carnage at this services again with parking and service, another holiday, another problem, whose to blame this time? 50minutes just to get petrol how about that for speedy customer service.
Miranda Pellon, Wed 28 Dec 2011
I was travelling south for christmas and in the festive spirit as was my wife and young son and daughter , arrived here feeling happy but it didnt feel like christmas in here no festivness anywhere , staff morale looked none exsistance and looked like a "norm" day business as usual for Moto. you go into towns , supermarkets, and shops and festivness is always there. Not really felt like Christmas in the services, at least it should feel like it even if 1/10 people are not bothered. we felt down after coming here. but cheered ourselves up. CHEER UP GET IN THE SPIRIT, this day and age and people are only interested in making money not anything else.
G. Sheridan, Fri 23 Dec 2011
customer service not so good, I dealt with a girl at EDC who got a manager to sort out my Issue but customer service very much an issue for this person , she didnt know how to deal with me and didnt resolve my issue
email@example.com, Sun 11 Dec 2011
As a fellow Lorry driver too, I have been coming here since this place opened, and apart from the first few months, it has been poor service for Lorry drivers, not enough facilities for capacity of drivers, expensive overnight stay, wouldnt mind paying it if the food was value for money, but dried up and no fresh cooking done if we ask.
Brian Woodsley, Thu 8 Dec 2011
as a Trucker , I am on the road 6 days a week and I pull in here every Tuesday and Friday, sometimes I want a good hot meal at the end of day , but always seems dried up, when you complain it always too much trouble to do fresh, not really adequate facilities for truck drivers, this is mirrored when you talk to other drivers too
Roger Springer, Tue 6 Dec 2011
Place is your typical Motorway services, uninviting, understaffed, overpriced, dark and grubby, queued for ages in forecourt for a drink and to pay for my petrol. not exactly a fast efficent service.

I'm amused by the fact that Sarah in the comment below me acknowledges that there was only such a big problem on one day in three years. For any type of business that is a good feat, according to Sarah one bad day is unforgivable. Giving the extremely high standards she seems to hold (evidence provided by her language), I would not say she is the sort of person who should be commenting on a reviewing site such as this one due to the emotional biases being displayed.
Scott, Tue 22 Nov 2011
All I will say is to that comment from Moto is this services has been open over 3 years never happened at any time before what ever the time of year, trying to justify a mess. Sorry Moto but no reason for incompetence.
Sarah Jensen, Sun 20 Nov 2011
Due to the Wetherby Races clashing with Half Term this year, we experienced severe congestion in our site car park. We provided a team of five people, including the General Manager of the site, to direct traffic in attempt to rectify the situation which lasted just over half an hour.
We are working with the local police to see how we can change this position next year.
Moto Hospitality takes this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience caused and we would like to assure customers that we will endeavour to prevent such a situation arising again.
Moto Hospitality Ltd, Wed 9 Nov 2011
All i will say is what a disgrace on that day (28th Oct)it was a messandapparently from the staff no reason or explanation or an apology ? if this is how they re-act on a busy day , really shouldnt be managing this site. pure incompentance.doesnt say much for the inside does it , I only went for petrol 50mins I was there.
Sarah Jensen, Mon 7 Nov 2011
Having previously stopped at Wetherby Services a couple of times and found it fine, I was surprised and dismayed by the awful traffic congestion at 1pm on Friday 28th October. I agree with the previous comment - once you had driven into this total gridlock, it was going to be at least an hour before you could get out. And there was only normal or light traffic anywhere else. Needless to say this messed up my plans.
The previous comment was also accurate in saying that futile efforts were being made to direct traffic by staff who could give no explanation of what was going on.
There is no chance that I will ever stop at these services again unless I get an explanation of what went wrong and an assurance that it will not happen again.
Tony Symes, Mon 31 Oct 2011
Called at Wetherby Services on Friday 28th Nov at 13.00 hours and spent 1hour 30 minutes trying to get out, total grid lock unbelievable..... young untrained staff trying to direct traffic.......the parking network is so badly designed that its like a free for all....it is the worst services I have ever visited and will never ever call again.
Margaret Jones, Sun 30 Oct 2011
No less than 4 outlets of Costa Coffee at this location. Queues at all and no pastries or croissants left by mid-morning. Popular spot for coach parties to stop and very crowded because.

I can honestly say that Wetherby is a pretty spot on place to stop.
I regularly stop off at Wetherby services and although there have sometimes been minor issues, they are the exception rather than the rule.

dont know what your burger stars mean but i visited wetherby today and found a huge airy comfortable rest from traveling all morning. My baguette was the freshest crisp but soft sandwich i have bought anywhere including any high street for a long time. Not wrapped and soggy or stale but freshly made. I have not had this brand before and will look for more. All served buy cheery staff. The toilet facilities clean and outside appearance very impressive.I have visited many service areas and this one beats them all. Thank you wetherby we will be back.
chris, Wed 5 Oct 2011
Needed to make a comment on here as a friend of mine had told me about this, I had visited this services once before about 6months after it opened and found it was pleasant clean and almost pretty good, usual overpriced but ok.
I visited a month ago however and a different story altogether, there are mixed comments on here and I know each visit is a snapshot, but doesnt moto need to fix the re-occuring comments.
I witnessed a member of staff being shouted at in front of customers because apparently "they werent fast enough" very unprofessional, yes it was busy and queues everywhere , but could see not enough staff as all tills in most units were not being used ,surely thats the reason they are there. yes tables a mess too i had to clear my own and upon talking to people near me they had to do the same.
Customer service needs to be addressed I think - does Moto actually look at these comments.

Stopped here for lunch yesterday with the family. Was suprised to read all the negative comments about it being dirty, the place was spotless (they even had fresh flowers in the toilets), Really clean, even though it was really busy with travelling families.
We all ate ate the Burger King. It was a bit more expensive than the high street but you expect to pay that at the services and the staff were polite and the food good. We had to que for about 10 mins to be seen but hey, its the summer holiday and the place was rammed so no complaints there.
Overall I was quite impressed with the place, especially after reading all the negative stuff on here.
Paul, Mon 22 Aug 2011
We called in at wetherby services today as my mum told me they had been very helpful with my grandmother. The place was buzzing and really busy being the weekend but the choice of eating places was great as all five of us wanted something different so we split up and met in the garden area to have our food and even bought a picnic blanket in m&s. We enjoyed everything from pasties, burgerking and huge baguettes outside in the sun. It did not feel like a service area at all and was a great break from our driving.Toilets busy but a lady going round checking they had loo roll and real flowers in the toilets. Fab place and smileing staff!! mum was right
carol, Sun 21 Aug 2011
Went to this services on Wednesday , the worst placed I have visited in a while , queues in the services queues out , toilets a disgrace , queuing everywhere for a hot drink , dirty tables , no where to sit. I expect it to be busy but no staff and incompatance of the people running the stores. Customer service clearly not there first priority, looking at the comments below seems like they can`t cope with volume so let some else run it or open another services , this is mirrored with my comments.URGE YOU TO GO ELSE WHERE IN FUTURE.
Janet Kerryson, Sat 13 Aug 2011
I use this service area on a regular basis, travelling for work. I have to say that Wetherby is one of the cleanest, most modern and best laid out in the country. I have never had any reason to complain, the service is good, the tables are clean, as are the toilets and there are plenty of different outlets to choose from. I use many service areas around the UK, and this is easily one of the best. I wish the people making negative comments about Wetherby would try Blyth Services instead - then they'd know what a grotty service area is really like!!
Dan Parsons, Fri 5 Aug 2011
I work for a company whereby all our area personell use these services , myself and at least 7 of my colleagues use this services and never seen these helpful at all , its a disgrace a dump and lacks customer service , the food at EDC is disgraceful for the price always dried up and looks like slop. cleaners are always hard to find let alone staff, we stop here because there isn`t anywhere else we can actually base from geographically but if there was we would. Moto should get themselves a business that doesnt involve customers , If these people on here exsisted we would have saints nice try Moto.

At last the best Baguettes in the uk are available at a motorway service station, being a southerner and working in London my usual breakfast is from Uppercrust at a rail station on my way to work. The baguette was as always from uppercrust fresh and tasty, I had a takeway costa coffee from the outside shop and ate in the sunshine. I travel to Newcastle twice or three times a year and have found the perfect stop over. Compared to a lot of places on the M1/A1 this is new and clean, very modern feel and I got back in the car very refreshed. The cost was expensive but about the same as a rail station and I do not mind paying extra when you get what you expect. Our delivery guy told me about this service station as he always uses them and this website which is great for customer feedback.
Philip Staghan, Tue 2 Aug 2011
We arrived at this service area whilst taking my elderly mother to my fathers memorial service in nottingham. My mother has been staying with us since my fathers death but wanted to go to the service. We had to stop as she was very upset and needed a break and unfortunatley broke down in the toilets. A manager got a first aider and took my mum to a private room in the offices and brought sweet tea. I can honestly say they where brilliant with her and we stayed for an hour. We sat in the seating area and watched the world go by.You can say what you want about this services but i only saw hard working people telling coach drivers to join the other people and not go to the front, three people with trolleys constantly cleaning tables and the place was really really busy with coaches of people young noisy and elderly as well as lots of children. The toilets where constantly being checked and a lovely girl shouting empty toilet. Well done to this company and its staff.

We had a good stop at this clean and modern services on our way back from holidaying in Scotland. Must say we had a good visit, though these places are never cheap we were served quickly with decent coffee in Costa. My wife was not too well and I feel I must say that a lady called Ula was a complete star and helped us to our table and made us feel very welcome.
Bob, Fri 29 Jul 2011
This has got to be one of the best we have ever visited, the place is huge,it was very busy when we stopped on the 21 of July on our way to Cambridge from Edinburgh. toilets were spotless and my wife was impressed with the baby change room. There were loads of places to choose from for food, but we ate outside as it was really sunny day and enjoyed a costa coffee and cornish pasties. nice change from our usual stop and will use it on the way home.
Harry Whitchurch, Fri 29 Jul 2011
Looking at all of the comments below.....i'm beginning to think i was at a different Service Area to everyone else on here!..but no, definitely Moto and definitely Wetherby. I visited a couple of weeks ago after a 3 hour journey up north. I have to say i was pleasantly surprised. I know Service Stations haven't had the best reputation in the past and to be honest i usually stop to use the loo, stretch my legs and then get back on the road. However, i really liked it here. The M&S was a massive bonus. The whole place was really busy but i wasn't expecting anything else on a Saturday lunchtime. The fact that it was so busy didn't effect the service i recieved - it was great. Instead of rushing off, i decided to enjoy the sunny day and have a coffee at the outside seating area. The staff at Costa were very friendly, working hard to serve their customers and my coffee was just as i like it. So, after such a pleasant experience i went on my way. Well Done Moto. I'll be visiting again and will aim to use your Service Areas wherever my travels take me!

I don`t normally complain about anything, but I felt this took the award of the century for the " WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER" I had higlighted to a girl about a spillage problem in the dining area and all she did was looked at me blank, laughed and carried on what she was doing , my husband said I should have called a Manager but I suggested we left our food and went i was furious , never been so insulted in my life. this is not the last that Moto will hear of this. Will never visit again EVER.

Just replying to last 2 comments, about These people at this services who are in charge or run it. They are not interested in comments or feedback as i have complained quite a few times at different units, some about food and dirty tables etc. all the things on here basically ( they all cant be wrong )
However they just get some out to clean it at the time or manage the queue etc.. then the same again, and i have spoke to some staff a few times they say the managers are not interested in staff or customers just themselves
I have to go in there alot of the time due to my business meetings in terms of location etc.. but would find another place if one was suitable in location. now it just goes over my head but can tell you these are not interested at all, the services definatley was a bad idea unless run by some who cares about customer interest.

Hey Mike, you are right they dont answer and they are fully aware of this site They use to answer at one time until we challenged them then they just left not to return it appears. They sure do give the impression that they dont care as nothing comes back at all now.Thay say they care about customers, nothing on here says they do, shame on them not got the courage of there convictions!!

Just looked back through older comments and despite all the bad feedback on how this place is run there is not one response from MOTO management! This implies that they either take no notice or don't care!

Come on MOTO whatever is going on at Wetherby. Its filthy and badly staffed leading to extremely slow service(probably why its filthy) I use your services by choice in other parts of the country but this one is a disgrace.
What a disgrace, Q`s in every place , dirty , staff attitude , expensive ( which you expect ) but you at least expect quality and value service for your money, what a dump even to say its still new looking , never going here again and will advise my fellow friends and everyone i know to avoid Moto totally. I would like to add why has the forecourt got a costa coffee when they cant even staff it? surely the aim is to serve customers with coffee not make them wait 30minutes.

Dirty, inside and especially outside, cold and draughty. Avoid these services. Our impression was that there is no effective management of the services as a whole. We've stopped several times, always giving it the benefit of any doubt, but the last visit was the worst.
Anonymous, Sun 22 May 2011
I agree with comments here, I would give this services a miss, always an issue with staff shortages , unclean tables , ignorant staff and managers and very expensive prices and not good quality either, I spoke to a duty manager at WHS some time ago over the state of toilets, she didnt know how to deal with me and had to ask advice to another manager, is it not a duty manager job to resolve it. Go revisit your services Moto , visited since opened but never got any better havent been back since February they have no idea what customer needs are.
Lee stewart, Fri 20 May 2011
Called in here other day decided to give lunch a miss in EDC flies all over cake table and when I mentioned it to the young girl at the till she just said yeah we always have that problem sorry, the restuarant has got 3 tills but only 1 manned and about 6 people in the Q.
Costa tills manned but 1 staff serving and making coffee ( I run a costa and know that you have to most times have 2 people doing this especially if busy)
I counted 7 tills in BK and only 2 serving with Q`s spreading out the door
WHS had 4 tills but again 1 Person on and trying to manage Q`s
M&S had the biggest Q reached the back of the store only 2 serving
Went to the petrol station to get some petrol there and 2 people working to sort a Q out that was nearly out the door - 4 tills only 2 people
How is this customer Focus and putting the customer first on there website they have hightlighted how they want to protect the enviroment, there policies and lots of offers , HOWEVER try to look at where they value customers I couldnt find it, so we know what there focus is .... money and looks like they are not interested in anything else or they get it.

Parking Charges - parked here for an afternoon a few week ago and spent money in the site relaxing with my family, just generally having a good break from driving from scotland to london , why then can they send me a fine for £80 (£50 if I am quick to pay)and then say its nothing to do with them at the services, surely if a third party is involved it is still the companys responsibilty to deal with it? just like its Tesco`s or Asda etc.. to deal with problem products is it the same difference ? there has to be a better system in there to park short term if you need to than this, I understand they have counters that you pay £12 upwards to park but surely you can park paying by hour , £80 fine does this mean I can claim back my food&drinks I bought and pay with that - its an absolute disgrace.

I agree with Mike And Nish - this isn`t place for getting anything , and yeah might be a bit of parking more but trust me its probably loads better going to Wetherby Town Centre
I was In Friday in M&S 2pm Friday 30 April No Sandwiches(WHS had none either) and limited selection of other lunch or related products, incompetence when you actually see it was Busy-heaving is a word I would use, this is not the service you expect from a MOTORWAY " SERVICE " AREA.
I am going to log it with M&S customer Service too - this is totally unacceptable to any customer - is this reflective of the whole Moto?, I believe this is also a reflection of the Managers who run it and the staff working there.
I saw a comment on here about another services needed I think is an excellent idea, and should happen cant be any worse than here , as its evident that these cant cope at all.

Do you relaise that you are only two minutes from Wetherby centre where you will find an abundence of super eating establishments and lots of local shops for shopping with plenty of free parking, so dont use these overpriced places and come and experience the lovely town of Wetherby instead.

After I recieved a Parking Fine from here £80 for 2&1/2 hours I was absoultly furious as I had already spent in the region of £50 on Food & Drinks, Spoke to the site and they refered me to The company ( moving the blame ) for all you who may find it interesting here is a site on watch who may be able to help as they did me - it spots loop holes and wording on these places
Aggressive clamping. Extortionate ticket charges. And threatening letters. The private parking sector has long had an image problem.

Queued to get on here from motorway all way in, Queued inside for food what was the point as it was cold when we finally found a seat, asked the supervisor in costa to swap our coffees as they were cold he grunted and then eventually got them great customer eh ?
Looking at comment on this site agree staffing levels poor I know its easter weekend but still not enough, and now they have some stalls outside - WHS, COSTA they cant deal with inside never mind added to them so you will have queues outside and in , I have been here a few times but seems to be getting worse, Reckon another Services further up is long overdue
Antony Griffon, Sat 23 Apr 2011
All I can say Is Disgraceful , Queues , place a complete mess , and couldnt find an area that was suitably clean to sit, What a joke, Also have "Managers" or " supervisors" any right to talk to staff the way they do , sounds like a hell of a place to work not something I would Take . Feel sorry for staff in there but giving it a miss in future.

What a dump. Qs, no where to sit, unhelpful staff if you can find one , what more can you want from a services - wouldn`t really bother stopping here and probably same throughout company, from the previous comments it seems I am not the only one who thinks this.

do I ask Is the forecourt a costa or a forecourt? because it sure is not either , you would expect it to be staffed for a start, I was in there a total of 30mins for petrol and 1 coffee
andrew burntwood, Mon 21 Mar 2011
Would be a great services if not for queues , 10mins in M&S for a few sandwiches then 20mins in costa for 3 drinks - its no wonder people get fined here. speaking to people in queues they said like this most of time when busy , so only my recommendation is go when quiet !! didnt see much staff but reckon I saw Managers( well looked like anyway) didnt see them helping anywhere just back and fourth !!!
Adam jones, Mon 21 Mar 2011
Parking charges! what a joke!! 2hrs 20mins here having a meeting!!even most placse are 3hrs free, spent at least £25 at costa on coffees etc... and lunch from M&S round about £35 , then 2 week later a £80 fine for parking there, when I phoned the services although all they did was refer me and discounted any blame again like they were reading from script - taking my meetings else from now on ....
JIM STOREY, Sun 13 Mar 2011
Always had a good experience whenever I've stopped here, although admittedly it's usually been late and it's been fairly quiet.
Does anyone know when the road markings by the fuel area were changed? I believe HGVs now have priority when coming out of the side road.

Louise, Fully agree that this site is for such info as yours and welcome all comments on here, all i was doing was acknowledging and trying to send you in the direction of moto hq to let them know as well.Lets keep the comments on here as its a great site.

dosser666, I think although it was a good idea, this is supposed to be forum for people to comment on services, if i did it via the site you suggest I would have a reply and voucher and knowone else would see what actually happens , I wasnt interested in a refund only commenting on how bad this is, If my experience was a good one I would have put it and give credit where due but not in this case - they couldnt pay me to go back there ...
Louise, Wed 9 Mar 2011
louise, Why dont let Moto customer services (www.moto-way.co.uk) know to my knowledge customer services will contact the site manager who will in turn contact you so you can vent your spline well thats what they did for me and i got a refund!

Me, husband 3 boys stopped for some food on way to alton towers from newcastle seemed like a good place, bought all BKs what a rip off you expect to pay in these places but you dont expect them to get it wrong after waiting 20mins for the food, then looked at seating area as we ate and it was disgusting and filthy , will take a packed lunch in future
LOUISE, Sat 5 Mar 2011
Parked here to do some shopping. Stayed longer than expected due to feeling poorly. £50.00 parking fine....never will I use these services again. Rip-off, daylight robbery and downright disgusting!!

called at this service area today with my two children and disabled mum. The area is set out so well for a wheelchair and children. We got mum straight inside with ease as there is a good drop off area. Once inside again one surface and a good disabled toilet. The children loved the play area and their boxed lunch from the eat and drink area and mum had her muffin and dad his burgerking.Staff very helpful and food good.Overall excellent visit.well done

4/1/2011,i payed 18 pounds for parking my lorry over night with a meal voucher which is fine ,however i was very un happy as the hot plate was empty minus a dryed out piece of fish,i asked for chicken which was so dried out i could not eat it,there was no mash but could wait 10 mins,no thanks, the chef even told me they had to bin the old mash because it had been on the hot plate SEVERN HOURS!!!!! i had chips which tasted like blanched chips, and no way was the chicken up to health and safety core temp.as an ex chef of 8 years that is not exceptable. after a 15 hour day it would be nice to have what i payed for.

Just thought it was worth mentioning that last week we had to travel south even though it snowed, My Family and I stopped at Wetherby Sevices due to length of the journey we were making.
We were met with staff digging out trucks and a plough clearing roads, and when we got inside it was clean, bright and staff were happy to assist with our orders - looks like the snow never even hindered these people.
It was nice to see that places dont shut down because of the snow and people are there to serve people like us when we need them

I stopped at the Services 21/11/2010 and purchased breakfast at 9.15a.m.Can I inform you that the food was cold served on cold plates and the staff were unresponsive to complaints. For a purchase price of 5.99 a head I would have expected much better. A shrugged shoulder from a staff member when a complaint is made is not good enough.
The Cashier was Martin KubaTrans # 4034
Purchase Cost 15.96

Unfortunately I am yet another customer who is disgusted by the parking charges at Wetherby services. We chose to stop at Wetherby in our motorhome, very late at night, to break a 300 mile journey towing our race car to a race meeting. Wetherby was the perfect place to stop (or so we thought) as it has designated parking areas for larger vehicles such as caravans, coaches & trucks, an M&S where we spent £85.00 on food shopping for our weekend away, we also filled up the motorhome with £100 of fuel and our racing jerry cans with another £125.00 of fuel. So, £310 spent at Wetherby & after a good rest we left the services very early the next morning to continue our journey.
All was well until I received a 'Parking Charge Reminder' in the post today from CP Plus Ltd., demanding £80.00 in payment for our few hours parking at Wetherby. The reminder refers to a 'notice' which was supposedly sent to me 28 days earlier - this was never received which seems commonplace after reading similar complaints about Moto & CP Plus Ltd.
I have checked the Moto website for Parking charges at Wetherby and it is very vague. I understand that the first 3 hours are free but you have to pay for a longer stay, although it is not clear what the charge is. When we were at Wetherby we did not see any signs regarding parking charges, either in the car park or in the services building.
What a shame after spending over £300 at the services! I travel thousands of miles each year and spend a fortune on fuel. Needless to say, will never stop at a Moto Services again & have also carefully read Martin Lewis' website regarding the trading practices of 'Private Car Parks'!
John, Fri 8 Oct 2010
I was about to arrange to meet a colleague at Wetherby Service tomorrow (21/09/2010) before heading off up north to our Head Office. I am now thinking twice and will arrange somewhere else which will hopefully have a more positive write up. I like all the comments regarding parking!!!! Why o why would you charge for parking? Your guaranteed business from the motorway, treat your customer better and you will automatically make more bottom line profit due to more footfall!!!!
Lincoln Delve, Mon 20 Sep 2010
Like most others here it seems I have been stung by the parking charges. £80 fine (reduced to £50 if I pay within a fortnight - how NICE). 3 occupants of the car managed to miss every parking sign (not convinced there were any at all obvious or visible). Obvious money making scheme, wonder how much extra revenue they make annually? What a scam! If I wasn't worried about the money I'd dispute it but I simply can't afford to go back to prove there was little signage and if I fail I can't afford the £80-£120 they would demand off me. They say tired drivers kill...seems you have to pay for the privilege of a good rest. Shocking.
Mr Hunt, Fri 3 Sep 2010
Quite simply the most disgustingly dirty "food court" area I have tried to find a seat in with my family - tables and floor strewn with food and packaging - a singular lethargic cleaner collecting crockery and packaging and leaving the tables dirty - I thoght this was an isolated case whilst travelling north on Sunday 15th August but found the services in the same,if not worse state on the return journey south on Saturday 21st - As a frequent traveller between the midlands and the north east I'll look else where for my brief stops from now on. MOTO should be ashamed of the state of these services -

I know that Moto have an appeals process for anyone who feels they shouldn't have received a parking notice. If you or someone you know has been a customer or fallen asleep and a parking notice has been issued, log onto the moto web site and get in touch with them. They also have a duty manager available who can deal with any customer concerns or queries before you leave site.
Heather, Wed 11 Aug 2010
Disabled visitors beware - OK good commercial practice to have to pass retails outlets to reach toilets - but when father needed to stop four times to sit and get his breath - not good - should have a separate disabled toilet near entrance. Also too crowded round esiting provision with narrow corridor and ATMs and leaflet rack causing people milling about preventing smooth access for the handicapped and able bodied likewise. And the door on the disabled toilet opened the wrong way.

Parking rip off
Can I add my voice to the complaints about the parking charges here after I made the mistake of arranging to meet people there and spent under 3 hours buying their concession's overpriced coffee?
Signage is poor, appeals process is a nonsense and charge is extortionate.
Frankly Moto out to be ashamed of themselves.
mark, Mon 26 Jul 2010
Visited today, second time in a week. Firstly, there is obviously a problem with the toilets; they smell vile and are extremely hot and humid, with no ventilation at all. The food is expensive and even the sweets etc on sale at WH Smith is way over-priced - how about 80p for a Twix or Mars bar that usually sells for half that at any other shop? The icing on the cake was the cafe seating area: absolutley filthy floors and tables with litter everywhere. Just not a nice place to be at all. This is a place I'll go out of my way to avoid in future.

I frequently travel throughout the year as I am a sales representative for the company I work for. While traveling, I usually stop at the Moto Services. I do so because in the past, I got exemplify outstanding customer service. However, that last time I visited Moto Wetherby , I was highly disappointed and unsure if I will ever stay at another Moto Services again. When I arrived , I noticed that there was a lot of trash on the ground, and some spilled coffee all over several of the tables in Costa. This is definitely out of the ordinary for this store, but I ignored it because the staff looked really busy and I was sure they were going to get around to cleaning it as soon as possible. I ordered my usual order - one large Americano with cream - and proceeded to wait twenty minutes for it! This would be understandable if they were brewing the coffee and it was fresh and hot when I got it, but the coffee was cold and bitter. When I asked the staff for a new coffee, they loudly sighed and rolled their eyes, and refused to give me a new coffee. This is not typical service that I get at Costa, so I was really blown away. I love Costa products and I am a very frequent customer, so this really tarnished my opinion of the chain. I would highly consider evaluating the employees at the Moto Wetherby, as they are degrading the name of the company.

Arrived exhausted at 2215 hours at Wetherby Services after driving alone for several days while visiting relatives. There were NO noticeable signs on entry to make tired drivers aware after sunset. I parked in an isolated area. Woke up about 5 hours later (yes I was that tired), went to the loo and drove home to the Highlands. Then the fine of £80 arrived yesterday. Tiredness kills, you are advised to rest, yet you are penalised for not knowing rules on motorway services.

as a hgv driver I had to stop here. clean showers but not very warm !!I counted at least 8 cleaners mopping and brushing but they all seemed to be doing the same area again and again, it was quite funny really.. paying for parking includes a food voucher but you cant use it in BK.The food in the eat and drink restaurant was overpriced with small portions and when i complained that the food was not very warm the look of disgust !! the voucher is £7.50 which is about the same as most of the meals, but if you want a drink thats when they rip you off even more !!!BE WARNED...you must pay the parking charge or you will get stung with a fine so if you nod off on a sunday snooze it will cost you....
simon woodall, Sun 27 Dec 2009
On a wet and windy day I arrived for a business lunch at Moto Wetherby and parked near the hotel as the car park was pretty full - it appeared to simply be part of the motorway services car park. I paid for several drinks and a meal for three people then drove the hundred or so miles back home again. A week later I received a parking bill for £80, reduced to £50 if I paid within 14 days. As this is a brand new development it is quite obvious that the car park has been deliberately designed to extract the maximum amount of money from unwary visitors. There should be a large and clearly visible delineation between the Moto Services free parking area and the adjoining hotel parking area. This sort of scam must earn them a huge revenue and the owners of this business do not deserve our custom.

Claustraphobic, but clean, modern and full of facilities. Bunged, no where to sit down. Ok, taking in the fact it serves the M1 as well as the A1(M)

Be very wary if you have a business meeting here. I stayed over 2 hours not reading the car park signs correctly and a few weeks later out the blue got a totally rip off parking charge for £80. I was horrified as I had spent money on coffees and lunches in the services at vastly inflated prices. I will never visit again and have told all my business colleagues and friends to spread the word. I am disgusted!

Car park jam packed - and a big one at that! Good and clean and bright, prompt service (even though at lunchtime). Hope this is the future of Motorway Services, some I have stopped at have been abysmal!

Stopped for 5 hours to take a rest , spent over £20 in restaurantin that 5 hours. Left site, two weeks later recieved a fixed penalty fine of £80 for failing to pay for a parking ticket. There are no ticket machines here , i did not see any signage about parking . They tell you on the parking fine you need to pay at till in restaurant, pity they dont bleeding tell you that before you leave. Better off going up to scotch corner to stop. far better value for money.
adam wheeler, Wed 24 Jun 2009
Will never stop at this service area again. Stopped for 5 hours and received an £80 fixed penalty fine 2 weeks later through the post. No mention of having to pay when i arrived, nobody in services pointed this out, not even the next morning when i paid an astonishing £15 for two breakfasts. My opinion is stear well clear of this so called truck stop. It should be called truck dont stop unless you want to be ripped off !.Visit their web site no mention of having to pay to stay.
A refreshing stop with very helpful staff. I liked the 'airport' feel to the place with all the different brands to choose from. More services like this please!
