Used Woodall in the early hours of the morning on a number of occasions this past week, both Northbound and South. Found it generally very good. Certainly clean, bright and feeling welcoming throughout. Disabled access was a bit of an issue Southbound and better signage of entry points around the site may have helped, or maybe being sleep deprived at 3am I just didn't see the signs! WHSmith on both sites had a good selection of sandwiches, drinks, etc available despite the unearthly hour. Also very friendly, very helpful staff .

travelling South from Durham yesterday with 97 yr old disabled mother in law I stopped at Woodall only to find a delivery lorry parked sideways across all disabled bays. There are only a few bays designated Disabled at the best of times. I would have sought out management at the time but has anyone any idea how long it takes to toilet a lady as above . Could designated parking not be monitored

I'd like to thank staff at Woodall Services who helped me out of a tight spot with my caravan today - basically I was mislead by a recovery truck driver who moved me on from where I was parked as he had a recovered vehicle to drop. He advised me that I could travel back round the services which turned out to be completely untrue and I ended up in the staff car park! It was either there or back onto the M1 southbound - without my wife who was in the services... This is where the Woodall staff were excellent helping me round their car park before allowing me to get back into the services to park up.In particular, one employee who comandeered colleagues to help. I didn't get your name but - thank you - you know who you are.

I stop at Woddall Services quiet alot through the year on my way home from the south of England as it is a convienent stop just before the M.18 , usually just to have a coffee at Starbucks but today i had a CEASAR SALAD WITH CHICKEN which with a small cappaccino cost me Ã‚Â£7.30 that is UNBELIEVEABLE ,& will not be doing that again, why will the goverment not do something about this,riping off us motorist just because they can,yet another thing we have to put with along with rising fuel costs.Ithink Starbucks should be ashamed ,everyone should stop buying food there but im sure that wont happen.Feel better now iv got that off my chest.

Well what can I say if your into healthy food this is not the stop for you. Basically they only sell fat filled, grilled and over processed food. I could find nothing fresh.

I visited Mcdonalds in Woodall last Wednesday where I had exceptionally good service from all members of staff.. Unfortunately I left my bag and as I live up to two hours away it was a big issue to go back and retrieve it so as I phoned up and was greeted by a lovely woman who was extremely helpful, my bag was found and the woman offered to send it back through the post for free which I found excellent customer service. Big thankyou to all members of staff at McDonalds in Woodall services.

i want a job at eat in . you have signs all over the place for all day breakfast , yet at 12.55 lunch time i asked for an all day breakfast and was told they had finished !! i am retired , but would have loved an all day job that finished at 13.00. to add insult to injury the boy behind the counter just laughed when i tried to complain . it was not worth argueing with him as he just did not care , and said there was other food we could have , i did not want to eat what looked so un appetizingand and stale as the offerings looked. the little blackboards advertising all day breakfasts were removed with a grin and put elsewhere , myself and the 15 other people in my party , walked away in disgust and bought food at burger king. never again will we visit your kintergarden for idiots at eat-in woodall or anywher else.

These service are discusting. Overpriced food and drinks and petrol. Good job I stopped for 15 mins judging by the comments of paying fines. Signs poorly located. I saw 1 which I had to look for. I wouldn't send a tramp here to eat. I'm sure some new diseases could also be found here too. Never again. I advise you to come off at next exit and go towards Rotherham for a Macca dee. Or jcn 35a where there is petrol and Macca dee.

fined Ã‚Â£60.00 for 30 mins over in car park waiting to be served for food for over that, slept for 2 hours was exhausted, so mutch for road safety,they will never get another penny from me or my drivers they are banned from this services, 25k a year at least we spend on fuel and food here.

Disgraceful, noisy dump. Suggest the owners visit Tebay North & South (M6) and Happendon (on the M74) to see how it should be done.
Special note: the signs for caravan parking south bound are poor to the point of being mis-leading.

Nothing special, to sum the place up in two words.
I arrived in the early hours on a National Express coach. The only places in the southbound side open were Starbucks and WHSmith - both were suitably overpriced.
The bridge to the north side is hidden in the corner of WHS, we used it and nearly froze to death in it.
McDonalds is open 24/7 northbound, and is the same price as the high street. The food was naff - the fries were limp and unsalted.
The toilets seemed pretty clean, but I wouldn't want to use the showers.

I visited this motorway service earlier today and was disgusted at the state of the whole area. I bought a drink and a snack from welcome break. The automatic doors were left open and it was freezing cold. The cups were stained, the cuttlery was dirty and the pots were chipped. The whole of the area was dirty. also fuel prices were through the roof. Is this the way to attract customers or are you satisfied to have them use the facilities simply because they are desperate to use the facilities as they are the only ones available on the motorway. For future I will ensure that I am fuelled up and have all that I need before using this stretch of motorway.

Arrived late at night, was very tired, it was dark and didnt see any signs about paying for the privilage of spending money at the Welcome Break. Had a meal, spent more in the coffee shop and newpaper from the store.Felt too tired to continue travelling. They advise drivers to avoid driving when tired. I slept on until the early hours and then had another meal and petrol.Been fined by Parking Eye for Ã‚Â£60, with threats of more costs accumulating.
Staying at motorway parking areas should be free, it is dangerous to be otherwise. They make enough money out of vehicle owners.. Shame on you..... i will now boycott all motorway service stations and recommend all others drivers to do the same. I intend to pull off the motorway from now on and find shops and cafes. My wife forgot her handbag on leaving the services and it wasnt until we were 50 miles down the road that she realised that she had left it. Thankfully some honest person/s had handed it in to the Starbucks team who returned it to us when we got back which prevented a very anxious wait. Many thanks to the Starbucks team who saved the day............On another note I got into a bit of an arguement with some joe bloggs driver who thought it was within his right to park his car in the caravan area and wouldnt budge until he had stuffed his face with crisps and smoked a ciggy whilst watchin caravanners stuggle to park around him. Perhaps this may have been prevented if someone officially could have approached him and informed him to park in the appropriate area

I broke down at the motorway services and had to wait for the AA
The automatic cameras recorded I had exceeded 2 hours and so the Parking enforcement company that work for Welcome Break have send me a demaond for Ã‚Â£60 which then rises to Ã‚Â£90 and is now a demand for Ã‚Â£120 .Shame shame shame on Welcome Break for allowing cowboy type operators for making a demaand like this - I have received 6 letters so far threatening me with action and all because I exceeded the 2 hours allowed !!
Beware of ever exceeding 2 hours for what ever reason the Parking companies are after your money and will pressure you all the time - Welcome Break this reflects badly on you - I will never use your facility again if you allow an organisation such as Parking Eye to represent you . Disgraceful !!

For the last 8 years or so I have travelled a great deal from Birmingham to York and Wetherby in connection with work. Whether this involves the A38 or the M42 the journey always takes me past Woodhall. This is always my choice of service station for a fairly simple reason - the McDonalds on the Northbound carriageway. As already stated, McDonalds do not seem to hike their prices for Motorway services, meaning a coffee here is the same price as one on your high street (about Ã‚Â£1.70). Also, I tend to arrive about 9ish so the sausage and egg mcmuffin is always a temptation.The services are pretty standard otherwise, complete with the requisite WHSmug.
However, don't stop here if your towing a caravan or trailer. Not well designed in that respect. And also, caution when driving out as the road surface is in a terrible state.

This service station is not unique, we were travelling to Cornwall last week and stopped at Welcome Break Michaelwood (South) services had a coffee and got out heads down for a couple of hours, getting back from a weeks holiday to find a parking ticket for Ã‚Â£90 (Ã‚Â£60 if paid by return) yes scum is the word, I think the signage is not as noticable as the fine keeps claiming and the charges are way too high especially if you have purchased snacks and drinks while you were there. When your pulling into the services after a long drive your are in need of a break, you are so busy concentrating on taking the correct entry for your vehicle so why are so many people missing the so called 'clearly marked pay and display signs' is it that they are confused and tired or are the signs not as clearly marked as they state, who is going to go back to the services and check!! Another example of rip off Britain. I wont stop at these services again and will tell everyone I know so how much will these services loose out on people purchasing drinks, snacks etc, everyone I have asked didnt know service stations charged for parking. I have been driving for some 26 years, never had a speeding fine or a parking fine in my life, thanking you ParkingEye for spoiling my holiday with your extortionate charges.

Ignore the moaners who criticise being charged for parking overnight. All motorway services clearly state that there is a time limit for parking and beyond this time a parking charge should be paid to avoid a fine. If they can't read that is their problem!!Personally, I would thoroughly recommend this motorway services. I have been to most of the services on the M1 and this is definitely one of the best - maybe the best of all!The services is well laid out and homely, but has ample parking and a wider choice of outlets than any other motorway services that I have come across.The best thing about this services, though is that they have a McDonalds (though only on the northbound carriageway so if you are on the southbound you need to cross the bridge). 'But why is having McDonalds so good?' you may ask. Well, it's simple economics really. For a family of two adults and two children you will pay about Ã‚Â£10 whereas at a Burger King you will pay roughly double that! OK, I accept Burger King is probably slightly better food than McDonalds, but not by enough to charge almost double the amount. The reason for the difference is that McDonalds operate a fair pricing policy, whereas other food outlets are more than happy to charge monopoly prices at motorway services, charging much higher prices than they charge in a town centre.Even if the price doesn't worry you, however, the choice of McDonalds, Burger King and KFC as well as more traditional fayre (Eat In) and a Starbucks coffee area at one service area is great as there is something for everyone. Add to that the opportunity to buy Costa coffee in WHSmith or the garage if Starbucks is not your preference and you will see that this services caters for a far wider choice than most.

I went to woodall services a few weeks ago & bought some food during a long tiring drive, afterwards I had a sleep in my car (as they say - safety first, dont drive while tired) to feel alert when I continued my journey. I slept for 3 hours, which was greatly needed, this morning I received a Ã‚Â£90 fine!!!
I cant recall seeing any signs telling me not to park, as it was 3am when I pulled in, I was tired & it was dark. Apparently its Ã‚Â£60 if I pay the fine now rather than later, I feel so cheated after doing what I thought was the right thing, as if motoring in the uk wasnt expensive enough scum like this are fleecing innocent motorists.
If you're tired drive to any services but here, they dont care about your welfare - just how much money they can squeeze from you. A terrible shame! Reading other users comments confirms my feeling & dissapointment.

Having used the services (paid for food, petrol, drinks etc) and had a buiness meeting there during that time, I was suprised to recieve a Ã‚Â£90 parking fine a few weeks later. No sign that I saw indicated that you had to PAY to use the parking in order to use their services. What a massive rip off and this has never happened at any other service station. I will never return there again.

Over all I am quite pleased with my visits to Woodall Services but for two things. Why don't you sell items relating to Yorkshire in your shop. When visiting Wales, we as a family spent a lot of money on items such as t-shirts, mugs and key-rings etc from the services in Wales selling welsh items. The second complaint is that Woodall Services is the entrance and exit to and from Yorkshire, but there are NO SIGNS informing drivers they are entering Yorkshire. Its England's Biggest county for peck-sakes. Sorely the letters in caps across the foot bridge spelling 'Yorkshire' or Welcome to Yorkshire would go along way to promoting Woodall Services, IE drivers would identify it as a landmark and would also know where they where. called in your services for fuel only to be told after filling up we dont take keyfuel cards .i appreciate this was an error on my part for not asking if you do accept the card.would a notice on the pumps or at the access telling people which cards are accepted not be a help.then i would not have had to meet the most ignorant person ever to have come across serving customers.his attitude was totally out of order not sorry sir we dont take this card.it was DONT TAKE THIS HOPE YOU CAN PAY an attitude i was not expecting needless to say i wont be using woodall again or recommending it. the 40000 miles a year wont be done using shell anymore if this is a sample of the service they consider acceptable

i arrived at this services at 3am in a 3.5 t truck. not hgv. i was told by a manager that i could park in car park or where other trucks were. at no point was i told there was a 2 hour max park. it was a hire vehicle and iv just been slammed with a fine via them from the site. plus a whole load of charges. this is for 2 months ago? i saw no signs and i was asleep in the cab for 3 hours. im not happy

Its been a while since I called at this MSA as the M1 is not my usual route for my work.
I'm impressed its as good as it was on my last visit and some thought has been given to those travelling at night, good selection of food and the site was clean & well maintained.

Had a decent enough stay, but was there for over the 2 hour parking limit. At the time I was totally unaware of this limit, and as a person stopping off on a motorway journey I did not expect parking charges. The time limit was not clearly enough marked so I had no idea until the ticket arrived. Simply putting up a machine is not enough, if I go into a town car park i expect to pay, but not on a service station. Been to other service stations since that advertise charges above every wash basin and in every area of the services. Needless to say i will not be paying the ridiculous fine. If you want to charge be clear and fair, and be mindful that travelers may not be expecting to have to pay to use a motorway service station.

Called into Fonebitz at Woodall services, met a decent chap called Nik ( I thought that was something that people did for a living in south yorkshire ). Nick was very helpful and I spent Ã‚Â£ 52.50 cash for solutions 4 family cover. The Embezzler wanted Ã‚Â£50 third party.

Seems a decent enough site, but design inside a bit industrial and unwelcoming. Would have liked to take a walk over the bridge but seems to be closed to the public. Also, why doesn't the cafe sell scones?

Fonebitz at Woodall South has many offers, just come in and speak with Tim, Manager at Fonebitz Woodall. If you turn left as soon as you walk through the entrance we are next to the arcade! We sell everything from Mobile Phone accessories to satnavs!

KFC at Woodall services on the M1 has got to be currently one of the best KFC's in the country. The food is fresh, hot and served quickly by very pleasant and helpful staff. The shift is a credit to the youngsters who served me and my friend on this particular visit. We travel around the country a lot and this is possibly the highest standard of any KFC.

Good Services but were under prepared when the Southbound was shut due to a fire alarm last Saturday should have sent the staff over the bridge as the queues were very long with 4 coachloads of football fans all in the Northbound

Pleasently surprised by the site facilities which were clean and a reasonable selection of food on offer.

i have been going to woodall services for last 13years north and south at least 20 times a year but today i got a parking ticket, not sure if genuine or not, it says parked in restricted area, i was in parking bay like everyone else, and it's the same place i park every time i go, i'm disgusted and very angry about it and i'm certainly not paying it.

Who designs the parking in these places? As an LGV driver it amazes me that the lorry park (northbound) requires trucks to reverse into the parking spaces blindside.
Why not make it so trucks can drive into their spaces forwards. It will reduce the risk of accidents.

However, one operator (cant remember who) state that you will not be fined if you are asleep in your car when the wardens come round (and apparently they wont wake you up either).

Amazed to be issued with a Â£80 parking ticket after a 3 hour stay, breaking a long journey, during which I bought lunch for my self coffee twice for myself and for 2 friends! I saw no warning that this was a pay and display area. Is this genuine or a try on???

I normally see this service station (southbound) around 2am and my journey south to Brighton.As all service areas its expensive, coffee poor and large and impersonal, however yoiu have to stop somewhere
