I stopped here on Friday afternoon for a comfort break with my 20 month old daughter whilst we were travelling to minehead for the weekend. The staff Burger King were not the most polite and as there are not much for a toddler to do she wandered in to the games arcade and was looking at the lights. A lady who worked in WH Smith came out and in a loud and abrupt manner told me she had to leave and could not be in there at all. I appreciate that it is for over 18s but she was in there just to see the lights. I was disappointed how the woman handled the situation and if she had had a quiet word with me then I would not be writing the review. Instead I felt completely embarrassed as other people were also watching the conversation.

Stopped here the other day and severely unimpressed. Satisfactory dog facilities but apart from that the whole place is impractical for the traffic it serves.
oBet studios, Fri 21 Apr 2017
It was operated by First.
Well maybe you should consider that it's crammed into a business park. Plus, there is an area of land suitable for dogs.
Hi VanLoos
I am pleased to announce we are having a major project completed on the car park before the summer season starts.
We encourage people to use all of the car parking in the centre as on space not two.
If would like to discuss feel free to contact me on the below

Hi Karen
Sorry you did not give us a try, we have an area of land suitable for dogs and their owners round the back of picnic area
Matt NobleArea General Manager
We drove in took one look and drive straight out- the most unwelcoming disgusting looking services i've ever seen, certainly no good for us with 2 dogs as its all concrete and car park
Karen Lichfield, Fri 7 Apr 2017
Stopped here yesterday on my way home from Plymouth. Big mistake! The car park is the worst design I have seen for a long time. The spaces are too narrow for two cars so you risk getting scraped. The services station itself was overcrowded and not very clean so I left quickly and proceeded to the next service station.
VanLoos, Sat 1 Apr 2017
Hi
I have looked into this and the services at Bridgwater, junction 24 has had a full fuel offering. There is a services between 22 and 23 that has closed its fuel station until March 16 and has been closed since the end of November.
If would like to discuss further please contact me at Matthew.Noble@moto-way.co.uk
Matt Noble, Wed 21 Dec 2016
Notice there is no comment about a so called service station on the M5 with out fuel for approx 6 weeks I travel from south Devon to Edinburgh every 2 to 3 weeks normally fill up at each end then at donnington (both ways) apart from stopping at donnington I will not use or buy anything at any motorway service station apart from a quick look stop I say there all gone down the pan being in the trade there is no viable reason to double or even treble the prices they charge come back the Granada stations
Normangrainger, Thu 1 Dec 2016
Why has a main service station on the m5had no full for approx 6weeks good job I never need any I travel this route approx every 2weeks but I always fill up at donnington on both outward and return journey I think it is disgusting
Normangrainger, Mon 28 Nov 2016
Hi Chris.
Could you drop me your contact details to Matthew.Noble@moto-way.co.uk to discuss this further.
Thanks

Don't bother with this service Try road chef or welcome break for any sort of service At ten to ten Burger King closed but shutters not down till ten So what other food do they offer nothing but a sandwich !!!!This service is obviously been neglected by moto As last month went to get fuel from there forcourt and hello no unleaded fuel to top it off nothing on the shelfs in the shop when i say nothing that what I'm talking about no cigs no food nothing To be honest it's like a closing down sale so if ur hungry and it's past 930 pm do yourself a favour and drive down the road to road chef were you can get food fuel and service Wake up moto or give up I'm mad as hell

Hi Sarah Jane. I will pass on your kind words to Kate in M&S
Matt Noble, Fri 9 Sep 2016
Hi Elaine.
Sorry to hear that it took you longer than expected to get in and out of the services. Have recently had a new traffic lighted roundabout put in outside of the services and has been extensive testing carried out and is now running really well and has stopped to long wait times in and out of the services.
Glad to hear once in the services staff where friendly and efficient.
Hope to see you again
Lovely stop for a coffee and cake
Mark, Fri 9 Sep 2016
Badly designed and very depressing . Will never stop here again
Craig Smith, Wed 31 Aug 2016
After a long slow journey up from Cornwall on Saturday 6/08/16 we decided to stop at Bridgewater services to get out of queuing traffic. This was a mistake as we queued for 30 minutes from the slip road to the services. The staff in Costa and M&S were very quick, friendly and efficient. The problem came again, when we wanted to leave. Caravans queuing to park (not enough spaces for them) were blocking the exit ramp for cars. As a result we had to wait 20 minutes to leave. During this time cars couldn't get in or out of the car park. (This explained our long wait to.get in) My husband tried to explain to the car park attendant about the caravan blocking the way but he didn't understand English. This was all very difficult for our 10 month old grandson. This added almost an hour to our already long journey. We will avoid these services in future.
Elaine Upton, Mon 8 Aug 2016
Recently stopped at these services. Have to say car park is appalling, bad laid out! But the service I received from Kate, in M&S was above and beyond not only did she get me a basket once she notice I way s overloaded with shopping. She even helped me carry it to my car. Service was very quick and efficient when paying at the till area. Well done!
Sarah jane, Fri 1 Jan 2016
This has to be without a shadow of doubt the worst motorway service stop I have ever had the misfortune to visit. For a south west traveller the shortish drive off the motorway is twists and turns, which at a push is acceptable as long as you are not too tired. If you are quite tired you will be well amused at the parking arrangement using a sort of multi-story system. Before you get to that, you will have definitely wiped out some pedestrians as you pass the front of the restaurant/shops and toilets etc building. BE VERY CAREFUL HERE.
To be fair, the services prior to this were closed on this side of the motorway because of a vehicle fire on the slip road, so there were more vehicles and people than what I guess would be the norm. Nevertheless this is a very small establishment for the amount of people, so do not expect top get served in any sort of hurry.....more so in high holiday season. This is not up to what has become acceptable at motorway services of late, with very few things to pass away time whilst you rest your weary bones.

Bridgwater services in a nut shell...... Terrible car park! However great outlets once you get inside
Martin, Fri 18 Sep 2015
Hi Matthew
Thank you for your comments.
Where is it you refer to regarding the wasps? Have spent some time looking around the site externally and internally I can find no evidence of wasps? Be great if you could email me directly at matthew.noble@moto-way.co.uk.
On the car park, we have introduced signs and pedestrian walk ways. From car park to services there is only one pedestrian crossing required. If you ever encounter an issue with anyone driving Inappropriately then please do contact the customer services manager who will be more than happy to assist.
Thank you again for taking the time to review the services at Bridgwater
Matt Noble, Mon 7 Sep 2015
Stopped here on 7/9/15 for a quick piss. There seems to be a wasp problem at this place that has been prevalent since the 90's, as I've known these services all my life as 'The one with all the wasps'. Aside from that, the place seems to be clean enough, but the parking/getting to and from the car park is a bit dangerous if you're with children as it involves a lot of walking over paths of traffic. There was even a C63 revving its engine in the multi-storey and screeching around like a general twat (not the fault of the station I know, but something to be wary of). Cash machine here costs 2 quid for a transaction, so remember to carry cash on you.

is this the worst service station in uk we think it must come close, from long delays to park in multi storey what a joke, to service at pastie company where we were given watery coffee & std passy when asked for steak & stilton,we often stop at services to have this ,so know this is not normal service, most people were moaning at service & inconvenience of stopping here, put an extra halfhour on our journey & very stressfull, will not be stopping here again,& will tell all dont stop here,it was like going back to bad old days at services,
david arnold, Sat 1 Aug 2015
Having just received a parking fine for overstaying 2 hours (which of course I would never have done intentionally) i would be grateful if you could let me know where the 'clear and prominently' displayed signs are located that I unwittingly 'agreed to' when I parked. I do wear glasses for short sightedness but clearly I need to be retested as I missed anything obvious. It would be helpful not least in the event that I ever have to use tBridgwater services again. also, why was there not a ticket issued or some sort of notification at the time that gave me the opportunity to pay the not-so-unreasonable £12.50 instead of an out-of-the-blue, after the event SIXTY POUNDS. I would have happily paid the extra had I realised on the day, but £60 is utter extortion.
Thankyou.
Lynn Martin, Tue 28 Jul 2015
Stopped here on the way down to Cornwall, the car park was dark and dingey, not an ideal situation at all for somewhere so busy. The toilets were filthy and so was the actual service station itself, the floor was thick with dark sticky grime. Enough to put you off your food! Will pass by next time !!
Sarah L Jones, Mon 27 Jul 2015
On 25/05 We stopped here on our way to Cornwall for something to eat. I have an 11 month year old daughter and am currently pregnant. The car park is poorly designed and the spaces not adequately sized. Due to our circumstances and there not being any larger spaces available we had no alternative but to park in a way that resulted in us parking over the lines of the parking bay. On returning from the services we found that we had been issued with a parking fine. I'm outraged that we would be fined for this when the car park was not particularly full and there was no other way of parking for me to get out and to get my daughter out of her car seat. I am seriously disappointed to be treated like this.
Hilary, Thu 7 May 2015
You'll be lucky to park with a caravan as the caravan spaces are right by the door to the building so are usually full of cars. I have tried to park in the lorry park, but was told to "get out" by a cleaner. Finally went in a car and managed to park, just, its a tight turn place.Needed a shower but couldn't find one in the ladies so I asked. Apparently they only have one shower and its in the gents "Yes, come, is good, come, is ok" said male staff member attempting to drag me in. " No it isn't" said both I and a man at the urinals!!Another staff member apologised and told me he hears complaints about the lack of female shower all the time, but that there is nothing anyone will do about it.My opinion of this place??....Avoid, avoid, avoid. Hang on till you get to Exeter!

There are some good people in this world! Stopped here at the weekend and found a wallet with a substantial amount of money in it. Handed it into Marks and Sparks and they got a manager from the Costa coffee outlet who was in charge for the day. Normally that is end of story, but on this occasion they took my number and name and thanked me for passing it on. Then 3 days later I get a call from them asking if it was ok to pass my number onto the persons wallet who wanted to personally call me. What a lovely gesture, most business would not close the loop and simply pass it on taking the credit. This service station will stand out for me now. And while I am at it, I will say the food from Marks and Sparks there is second to none. Amazing!!
Robert Hockley, Sat 7 Feb 2015
I stopped off at bridgwater services today For lunch with 3 other people i brought 2 sandwiches, 4 bags of crisps and 4 bottles of water. I will never stop here again as the price was ludicrous. £19.02 For that. It is such a rip off. Lower the prices!

it wasnt through choice i stopped at this services, being a truck driver i didn't have any option, everything was good to start with parked up, used to toilets which were clean, went to pay for parking and got my £9 meal voucher, up to this point i was a happy trucker, then i went into burger king and ordered my double whooper meal only to be told my the snotty woman that i can not use my meal voucher because you can only have certain burgers on certain days with it. when i got my voucher nobody told me this also it doesn't mention this anywhere in burger king or the services, i pointed this out to her but she just got worse when i asked to the manager she said that she was the manager. i was about the leave to when a girl came out from the back asked me what i wanted and also let me use my voucher, she was more helpful and cheerful then the snotty manager. the last thing you need when you have been on the road all day is somebody giving you grief when all you want is some food and then your bed to up again at stupid a'clock in the morning. it wouldnt have minded if she had explained to me nicely

Broke down near the services. The staff at the BP garage/coffee shop could not have been more helpful. Got home and had lost my wallet. I called Mr James. The staff had recovered it and he is posting it back to me at his own expense. The services may need improving and I'm sure they will be. Constructive criticism only please. These are good people.

We stopped at these services last year and said never again, however by accident we ended up here again! However, not sure what has happened but what a difference a year makes! The ECD restaurant has gone and been replaced with a Marks & Sparks supermarket, and they have an extra costa unit put in to. I reckon it was as busy as last year but it felt smoother and not as dirty either. Will give it another go in the summer!

Hi Bridgwater Services (MOTO??) can someone advise me on a very strange letter i have received from a parking company/debt collection agency called EPC (plc).. all i know is i pulled into the motorway service station for a quick rest last november, as i was overwhelmed + tired by the rush hor traffic coming up from Plymouth.. I've just received (in Portugal!!!) a payment demand with photo's of my van clearly driving (lights on etc) erm, so can someone contact me please as the company themselves don't seem to have an email, only a legal looking REPRESENT online form.. Bit scary approaching these people and i hope Bridgewater Services here can sort it on my behalf.. I realise i may have parked in a wrong space perhaps, but was unaware service stations weren't for getting out of traffic when tired..? please advise, otherwise a nice experience there although i missed getting to my sisters ontime only a few miles further at Burnham, but better to rest than cause accident.. Help with EPC please, Steve, Portugal

I stopped at These services in the last few days. Approached a lady at the Burger King to ask where the restaurant was as I wanted a cooked meal to which she apologised and explained it is currently being converted to a M&S and due to open in April. To which my self and the lady working in the Burger King had a ten minute conversation about M&S. I was first deeply unhappy that the inly hot food you can only have is from Burger King but the M&S I think is a move in the right direction with much cheaper prices and will glady stop there when passing again. And good luck to the lady (didn't get her name but she has blue in her hair) currently working in Burger King while waiting to start her training for M&S soon you will be fab supervisor very nice and amazing customer service. Thank you.

Absolutely disgusting. The staff were just as bad. Had we not had our little boy with us I would had gladly got back in the car and waited till we got to the next services. Customer from dec, Burger King and costa was horrendous. This place needs to be shut down.
Claire Marie, Fri 24 Jan 2014
Visited 23rd December, this place was filthy. Dirty tables, dirty floors, filthy toilets. Staff have a couldn't care less attitude at EDC, asked if there was any food; No none was the curt reply...no sorry just No none not everyone likes Burger King. To crown it all girl in EDC was putting cakes out, not wearing gloves or using tongs. Using probably unwashed hands,to handle food. There were no tongs available for customers to pick up cakes etc., so who knows what germs were on this food with some cakes uncovered open to anybody sneezing or coughing nearby. Love to see when they last had a food hygiene check. Give these services a miss (how you can call them services beggars belief)if going north go to the next one, if going south go to Taunton. Absolutely disgusting place.
Beatrisa, Fri 27 Dec 2013
The filling station side of it had no toilets - not just out of order but closed. This is disgraceful - nowhere to relieve yourself or to wash. This is third world in extreme, and on top it was tatty and dirty. Yes you could get back in your car and drive round to the main food area which is presumably the blatant intention. These people should have their licence rescinded.
T watkins, Thu 12 Dec 2013
I visited this morning, to fill up with fuel ,and after spending £70 wanted to use the toilet , the garage ones were out of order , so was told to go across to the main building. The cleaner had washed one side of the ladies and cornered this off with signs, I used the dry side and on leaving the toilets in the corrider where there were NO wet floor signs I suffered a nasty slip hitting my head and landed on my hip. The Cleaner had placed slip signs as you entered the toilets , but could not be seen as you leave the toilets. I reported to a member of staff in the main building and also to the cashier of the garage, in a distressed manor as i was very shocked and hurt., neither asked for my name, I had to proceed on my journey, my daughter took over driving, I then called the Bridgewater Moto, to speak to the mananger, who when I said he needed to tell his cleaning staff to position thier signs correctly , all he said was they don't speak ENGLISH !!!! , no apology for the accident, I had to ask him if he would like my contact details, and would he get back to me. It is now 10.15pm my neck is aching and very angry that I have have no contact from the depot

Just wanted a simple coffee en route Bristol Airport/Liskeard. 1.No where to walk a dog. 2.Tatty surroundings. 3.Had to have a coffee in Costa Coffee.....''costa'' by name and by nature! £1:95 in such a heavy cup. 4. Yes, the Staff were pleasant enough but what an environment to have to work in! 5. The air conditioning unit above my head was filthy.................food hygiene? How often is it cleaned................not very me thinks!

If East Germany had service stations in the 1960's it would look like this place.
Tatty, utilitarian, basic, cramped, the restaurant on this prime motorway route into the west country was inexplicably closed at 7.15pm in peak holiday time. The burgers were awful and expensive. Those praising this place must be relatives of staff. As a Devonian I am embarrassed at the impression this place will have on foreign visitors to our part of the world
Are there no basic standards for English service stations? Give this place a miss. (This is no reflection on staff who were perfectly pleasant)

What a terrible site. Everything is cramped/restricted.The access into the site is very narrow.Parking traffic is mingling with that trying to get out, causing frustration. There is a dangerous restricted pavement near the coffee stall.Entrance is cluttered.Even in W H Smith & Son the queue of people wanting to pay goes across the entrance to the shop preventing people getting into the shop to purchase items.

What is it with these moto service stations, they really dont cater for single parents. Went in this bridgewater one. Was travelling alone with a young baby from plymouth to birmingham and my daughter needed changing and I needed loo. I could change my daughter in the changing station room. (No toilet attatched.) Went into the ladies no toilet with changing station.. I had 3 options. Bust myself for a long time to birmingham while driving. Hand my child to a total stranger to take hold of while I went THATS WAS A BIG NO! Or struggle with my clothes and holding a baby while going toilet which is extremely unheigenic for a young baby.. I had no option but to struggle... single parents need to be catered for not just women but men to. There are plenty that travel alone with children and this is not the only moto station I have had this issue with. I travel from plymouth to birmingham and back every 3 weeks with my baby to see family and this is so frustrating. 3 weeks ago I had a similiar issue in exeter one there was however a toilet cubical in the changing station room but I couldnt shut the main door or lock it so my daughter was safe while I went toilet so I had to struggle again while holding her.

Stopped here for lunch on the way visiting family in the south west, what a lovely stop, it was clean, tidy, got a lovely (if little expensive) pasty from a van outside, and my husband had a burger from the whopper company, quick, hot and looked good. Staff were happy and we then ate it all in the outside seating section under cover which was being cleaned as we sat down. We will stop again on our way back up! Perfect!
Margaret Jacobs, Wed 24 Apr 2013
Normally try to avoid Services and pull off the motorway to visit independent retailers, on a delayed trip from St. Austell to Coventry one evening decided to risk getting a burger here rather than visit Bridgwater or Weston. Regretted it , served a lukewarm burger from a well known burger chain for London West End prices. - the services themselves look tired and unloved. Perhaps a change of management or ownership is due as serious improvement needed from reading through the comments.

s adams, Mon 15 Apr 2013
This may be the very worst place I've ever attempted to eat while travelling up and down the motorway. On Tuesday 9 April, my daughter paid £6.49 for me to be served a blackened piece of fish that looked as if it had been taken out of a dustbin & slapped onto a plate. It bore not the faintest resemblance to the succulent, golden, battered fish in the ad banner inviting us to buy such food. I took it back & she got her money returned. Nobody seemed surprised, least of all the untrained teenager who had served us. My daughter's sandwich of egg mayo was so appallingly badly made & comppressed that I thought she'd bought a cheese sandwich. Nothing in this place works and I wonder if anyone from management ever visits it. Service is slow in all areas indoors, with untrained personnel who have absolutely no concept of food. It should be closed down. The food is vile, the cost is high and the girl who 'cooked' my fish was heard to ask another on the till "what do I do with this". There is no healthy option apparently available but perhaps it's safer not to eat salads there! I am reporting it to Environmental Health because I do not believe anyone in management takes the slightest interest in how this place is run and after eating her sandwich my daughter had an unpleasant stomach upset. It's a blot on tourism in the West Country. Revolting.
Sacha Hubbard, Thu 11 Apr 2013
Stunned at just how awful these services are, I bought a luke warm burger and about 9 fries. Complained and was just met with a shrug. Its is 2013 and not the 70's. Cramped, dirty and dangerous sums the place up.

Was compelled to stop here on 27th Dec M5 accident ahead and children and dog in car, returning from Cornwall. Long queues through a narrow gap to get in, queues to find somewhere to park, all the lorry and coach spaces were taken by cars. Long queues at food areas and no seats in seating area. This place is not fit to be a service station and should be removed from list then people would stop at the services before or after which can cope. The whole place looked dirty, a thoroughly depressing experience.

We decided to stop at these services on our long journey from Stoke-on-Trent to Cornwall, just for a coffee and a bathroom break. There was one road in which led you through into an underground multi story car park. It took so long to get to the entrance of the car park that we decided it was not worth stopping and drove straight through and continued our journey, as did quite a few of the cars in front and behind us.Worst service station I have ever driven through. There was nothing about the building which made you want to stop and look inside.

Dolly Dippit, Wed 5 Sep 2012
After taking 4 hours to get from Cornwall, Bridgwater offered a welcome stop. It only has one lane to get in so takes a while to get a space but there are car park marshals trying to ease the queues. With the amount of people pulling off the motorway I was surprised to find clean toilets, with a man even cleaning the water off the sinks with a squeegee. The queues were long but got served within a decent time, and the joy of the visit was managing to get a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts, (thought they only were in Bristol) all in all, very impressed!

Greeted by the cheery face of Bridgwater Service Area's manager I thought to myself "here is a man who takes pride in his patch". It turns out this  chap has standards akin to Baldrick. It is an exercise in futility to criticise prices in motorway services, afterall they have a firm grasp on your what-nots the moment you remove yourself from the motorway. However there is a distinction to be drawn between something which represents a decent level of quality and service for your hard earned cash and this. The impossibly tight car park requires the dexterity and spacial awareness normally reserved for surgery and having manoeuvred into a space you must contort yourself to roughly half of your adult size in order to exit your vehicle.Having entered the building you will need to choose between one of the drab and grubby looking eating establishments. We opted for Costa; normally a safe bet.My  coffee was  best described as greek (i.e. Having a sludge like quality), a long way off what you would expect an americano to look like. The cup was in need of a good wash and the egg and mushroom muffin had more in common with MDF than food.Having chewed my way through as much of my coffee as I could, I ventured to the toilet. Despite a sign making a bold claim that the facilities had been cleaned within the last 15 minutes what greeted me in the first two cubicles beared a passing resemblance to my coffee mug. I am not a man who feels compelled to leave reviews, in fact this will be my first, but I felt I owed it to you. I hope that armed with this review you may be better equipped to avoid my error.Thank you Bridgwater for occupying my mind for the last few miles of the M5.
Keep on driving..., Sat 11 Aug 2012
Never seen carpark marshals at a service station before. It was so busy there was people telling you were to park! The place was crazy! Good stop after taking 2 hours to get from Exeter though!
Michael, Tue 31 Jul 2012
Disabled bays were occupied by a family in two different cars, only one displaying a Blue badge and all they seemed to have done was stop for their fags and to screech at each other. For a disabled person the walk from the disabled bays was far to long and the narrow pavements made narrower with big plant pots, I found it extremely difficult to walk the distance and keep balance whilst negotiating these pots on the narrow pavements. Once inside the place itself appeared ok although a bit 'tired' looking, the queue for the burger bar was very long and again made negotiating the route to the toilets difficult. The sign on the disabled toilet stated that the key was available from a member of staff. What staff, the burger bar staff? The shop staff? Very unclear and by the time I had struggled through the queues at the burger bar I opted to try and use the standard toilets. Disgusting does not even begin to cover it, the smell of stale urine was like walking through a semi solid curtain. I managed, (just) to make use of the non disabled toilet after having to clean someone else's spillage. The wash hand basins were in a state of flood as well. seriously Bridgewater based on what I saw on that day at that time you do not deserve to be responsible for the running of a motorway services in the UK. The whole experience from trying to get parked suitably for a disabled person on crutches to trying to access disabled toilets through to my experience in the men's toilet facilities is simply beyond words. My temptation is to take this matter to the next level. I assume there is a board or some kind of body that can decide on who runs these outlets? I still shudder when I think about it.
Broken Man, Fri 20 Jul 2012
Stopped here on to feed toddler. Dingy, dirty and dire. In fairness it was the end of a bak holiday weekend so busy, but still awful. Ordered a freshly made pizza from Fresh Express which arrived burned. Server stated 'it's a bit burned, are you happy with or shall I make a fresh one?' I asked for a fresh one. I watched her put the burned pizza under the hot lamps, before waiting 10 minutes and returning it to our table with no comment. I should have complained but at time, just needed to get toddler fed. The staff in Fresh Express were jolly with each other and whilst it is nice to see hapy staff, we as customers were clearly an inconvenience (particularly as we didn't like burned pizza). WH Smith was well staffed but the staff looked a mess. No uniform, looked like customers stood behind till! Awful place. Wld rather listen to crying hungry toddler until next services than stop there again.
Amy, Sat 9 Jun 2012
A very weird place, the station itself, too small, no where near big enough to deal with the amount of people trying to use it and ive been to many more than seem miles to big for the amount of people in them, they could do with a swap. However the queues moved pretty quick even if there wasn't any spare tables to sit at. Pasty place outside was amazing, and credit must go to the blokes directing the traffic and telling us ladies where the empty cubicles are to speed up the wait.
Rachel Winter, Sun 3 Jun 2012
Like the previous comment this place was packed, queued to park, queued to get in, queued for the toilet, queued for a coffee, a pasty and a newspaper, however the staff were working their socks off! It was just so busy there was no other option. A true credit to moto I think it is, couldn't of wished for better service when wanting a break from driving!
Lynette, Fri 13 Apr 2012
OH MY GOD!, what an absolutely crazy place, I know it was bank holiday weekend but I have never seen a service station so busy in all my years, didn't help that the place was tiny! Smallest I've seen too. However there were staff directing the traffic to try and ease the problem of the awful car park. Staff working hard, q's everywhere, however hard to relax. Bet it's much better when its not as busy!
Wayne Vosper, Thu 12 Apr 2012
" I must say it was a cracking burger. I particularly liked the fries which I detected might have been cooked in the same oil as the onion rings. decent. xx"
Stu, Sun 18 Mar 2012
Fantasic little place, just off the motorway which I love as they are usually a little bit quieter! Mind you, it does have a horrible car park (used to have some graffiti) but its gone now. Maybe small but got all you need, there are even some nice new flowers by the front door! Stop here every week and have no reason to stop doing! Just wish it was a little cheaper!

Right i cant swear here?! what a dreary and unwelcoming place!terrible access and egress, would usually have driven straight through if it wasnt so awkward to park up! only used toilets (which were surprisingly ok)then decided to eat elsewhere, with a bit of space, sort it out its absolutely awfull.

Worst motorway services ever been to in whole of UK. From parking to service at Costa inside to service in WHSmiths. Never again!
plant family, Sat 22 Oct 2011
myself and my wife started visiting bridgwater services on a regular basis recently as a place to meet up with family as we live in minehead and have family in both devon and the midlands we then go into the services and chat over a meal and coffee this has been happening 2 to 3 times a week recently due to family troubles and we were very happy as the staff are so friendly and polite that was until the post arrived wed+thurs 19th+20th of october 2011 and we had on each day a fine from cp plus for overstaying in the car park in my wifes car on the 10/10/11 and my car on 12/10/11 we had not realised you were limited to parking when using the facilities and each time we parked we used the upper level and you would be lucky if you could count 8 or 10 cars on the whole level so we were astounded to get these notices through the door and have been again a few times since so are worried more may come as we dont remember how long we stayed on these occaisions as the car park company are expecting 160 pounds for 2 overstays we wait in trepadation for the postman one thing is for sure we now dare not go back to these services again as by the time family arrive and we do our thing we may overstay without realising and at 80 pound a time it makes it unafordable for us so moto will lose out on our custom and there have been as many as 12 of us at times and now due to these fines our grandchildrens christmas fund will be at least 160 pounds less so be aware if you mmeet anyone there make sure they are there before you arrive limit yourself to one cup of coffee and make sure you take your reading glasses with you if like me and my wife you rely on them as we did not see these instructions they say are visible around the site we overstayed by just over an hour each time the car parks were virtually empty and we have parking fines for 160 pounds for using there facilities i wish the staff had been lousy and we would not of stayed or gone back but the only reason we wont be going back is because we cant afford their hospitality no matter how good it was
mr+mrs hetherington, Fri 21 Oct 2011
Didn't actually use the services - arrived after dark, had to negotiate the signs to get there - gosh isn't it hidden well - but didn't want to leave a full car completely out of sight in the multistorey car park. It is not an inviting motorway serves and quite intimidating if you are there alone at night.
Jill Tardivel, Wed 19 Oct 2011
Visited Bridgwater Services on a busy August saturday afternoon. The site is difficult to navigate to, the width and height restriction is awful for anyone driving a 4x4 or carrying a roofbox (as we were) we had to try and find a caravan space only to be told off as the spaces were for caravans only-there is nowhere other for those with roof boxes etc to park! Narrow, cramped and dirty service area, although the toilets were not too unclean. We will avoid in future.
BB, Fri 14 Oct 2011
Called in on my way home as was in need of a break from driving. Was a bit unsure about getting into the parking spaces on the ground level, so ventured upstairs, and was pleasantly suprised by all the space up there. As I got out of the car I was hit by the aroma of pasties, and that made me feel hungry straight away. Once inside, the smell of breakfast tempted me into the restaurant. What pleasant staff !!!! I ordered my breakfast, and was offered toast to go with it and was then informed that I could go on to get my drinks and pay, as they cook the eggs to order. After getting a drink and paying, and having the staff inform me where I could find cutlery etc, I had barely sat down before my breakfast arrived at the table, with a warm 'enjoy your breakfast'. On the way out, I was tempted to buy one of the lovely smelling pasties, which I had once home, and I have to say, it was delicious ! I thoroughly enjoyed my food and the pleasant, polite and warm welcome I had from all the staff. Will definately stop off in Bridgwater again.
Jayne Hall, Mon 22 Aug 2011
Upon first arriving at the site it seemed very small and extremely busy but with the M5 as it was this was to be expected.
Although the car park is a multistorey, staff were on hand to assist with the directing of traffic to available spaces. They seemed friendly and helpful even though they were clearly overwhelmed by the amount of cars streaming off the M5.
Once inside the main building it to was very busy and I was worried that service would be slow and the facilities would not be as clean as they could be. I was however pleasantly surprised to find that the staff, although clearly under pressure, all carried out there job with a smile which in the conditions at the time was good to see. When trying to sit down with my food there was a shortage of available tables but a member of staff soon cleared and wiped one for me which I was very grateful for.
In short, my congratulations to the staff for making the best of a very busy day.
Sam Cox-Beecham, Fri 19 Aug 2011
I'm very sorry Mary had such a bad experience, but we have to realise that even the best run establishments have off-days. They don't have a sign up over the door reading, "We are perfect". I am a regular user of Bridgwater Services and Ithink it could do with a bit more care because at times, yes, it can be messy. We can safely park, eat/drink, rest and use the facilities. That's what it is!A service area with a constant stream of uncaring, messy and often stressed and rude customers to contend with. At the end of the day, they do their best and I for one will continue to use it.
Bethan Mathis, Fri 12 Aug 2011
I stopped at Bridgwater Service last weekend, only wanted cup of coffee and something small to eat, so instead going to main building I popped to Forecourt and I must say I was pleasantly surprised with friendly staff, big selection of drinks and snacks and freshly made coffee. The services was really busy, but my experience was really good and I will stop there in the future for sure.
Sophie Blake, Tue 9 Aug 2011
I don't see what everyone is complaining about as it is what it is and it served it's purpose on my journey. Anyone who writes there whole review in caps, I'm never going to take you seriously.
Dave E, Fri 5 Aug 2011
I don't see why everyone is complaining about the carpark, it's obviously a factor that is out of their hands! Yes it's not the best and the spaces are a bit too small, but the customer service and products are brilliant. I think people need to be a bit more realistic when rating!
Alice., Fri 29 Jul 2011
Possibly the most depressing and filthy place I have ever been in my life.
Entrance is very confusing. Car park is an outdated monstrosity.
But nothing prepared us for the absolute filth of the food area.
Nearly all the tables were overflowing with fried breakfast detritus. Spills all over the place. Litter everwhere.
We were only stopping for coffee but we walked straight out again.
The place could do with a visit by health inspectors.
karen, Tue 12 Jul 2011
Myself and my partner visited Bridgwater Services after visiting friends in Bude, the site was very busy as it was during a bank holiday weekend but it was so nice to receive such a warm welcome from the restaurant staff.
It really was the best motorway service area experience I have had, my Latte was perfect - especially with a freshly cooked croissant (it was even still warm).
My only criticism would be that the site seemed too small for the high level of trade.
James Angus, Mon 30 May 2011
AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL SERVICES, FOR STARTERS SHOULD HAVE A SIGN ON THE MOTORWAY SAYING NOT DISABLED FRIENDLY, NEVER IN MY WHOLE 50 YEARS OF MOTORING HAVE I SEEN A SERVICE STATION LIKE THIS THE LAYOUT THE STAFF ALL VERY UNWELCOMING, IN PARTICULAR THE WHS STORE, CAN I RECCOMEND THAT THEY DON'T HAVE STAFF MEETINGS IN THE VERY CRAMPED AREA'S OF THE SHOPS ETC, A WHOLE BUNCH OF PEOPLE STANDING AROUND WITH CLIPS BOARDS, OH AND HEAVEN FORBID THAT I DARED TO ASK WHERE I HAD TO PAY FOR AN ITEM THE WHOLE GROUP LOOKED AT ME AS IF I WAS AN ALIEN, AND THE GIRL BEHIND THE COUNTER WAS VERY OBVIOUSLY ANNOYED THAT I DARED TO INTERUPT THEIR MEETING, SHE WAS VERY RUDE,E SHE TOLD ME OVER THERE TO PAY AND MAD ME WAIT INTIL THEY HAD FINISHED THEIR MEETING, SNATCHED MY MONEY, NO HELLO, THANK YOU, GOOD-BYE, SHE DID'NT GIVE ME A RECEIPT OR ASK IF I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A BAG FOR A VERY LARGE ITEM I HAD PURCHASED, I AM VERY OBVIOUSLY DISABLED I DO NOT EXPECT SPECIAL TREATMENT, BUT I ASLO DONT EXPECT TO BE GLARED AT AND LAUGHED AT WHEN I NEARLY FELL-DISGUSTING PLACE WILL AVOID THIS PLACE AND ITS PEOPLE FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE AND TELL AS MANY PEOPLE AS I CAN NOT TO GO THERE
Mary Richards, Thu 12 May 2011
We visited bridgwater services on a long journey from cornwall, as it was lunch time we decided to stop for something to eat and were very impressed. Yes it looks very small from the outside but once inside we had a very enjoyable experience. The toilets were clean, which is a big plus in my book.
We had a very nice meal and although it was quite busy all the staff were very helpful and friendly.
I will be sure to stop here in the future.
Anonymous, Sat 13 Nov 2010
I am a regular visitor to Bridgwater services - and yes it is a small site but I always get a great meal, today i had freshly cooked Fish & Chips which would rival any Harry Ramsdens (not sure if they still exist tho). The service was very friendly and the free wifi is a big attraction.
They must have the smallest W H Smiths in the world but it had a great selection of books and I could resist a big fat galaxy bar for a £1 - it was the cashiers fault I only went in for a newspaper.
Bridgwater gets my vote.
Linzzzz, Fri 12 Nov 2010
Good grief, where to start? Once you actually manage to find your way in, the entrance is one car wide, and as a result there was a queue to even get into the car park. Car park? More like a concrete bunker. It was dark, dingy, cramped and claustrophic. Once into the shops area, it was plain to see that the same philosophy that applied to the car park had been applied to the shops area.
At sometime in the planning process, it seems someone must have made the suggestion, 'Let's see how small, unfriendly and cramped we can make a service station'. The result is Bridgwater Services. We were there about 20 minutes, and that was 20 minutes too long. When we drove away, the queue to get in was down to the roundabout. And this was the 18th September and not in high season. Goodness only knows what sort of hell this place is in the high season.
DO NOT, EVER, VISIT THESE SERVICES!
dave peddie, Mon 11 Oct 2010
This was the worst Service Station we have ever been in, there should have been a warning on the Motorway not to go in. What it is like in the height of the season can only be imagined as our visit was at the end of September. The car park was dark and cramped with difficult stone steps. People had to then cross the traffic to get to the centre. You could sit to have coffee just feet from the traffic or sit inside knee to knee with everyone else. The staff were harrassed and one who served me in W H Smiths was very abrupt. Never again!
jan peddie, Mon 11 Oct 2010
your flushes on the wall are in the wrong place. ive sat there yestaurday and i got my bottom washed. with the flush every time i moved it flushed.its like two other services i know. one in sedgemoor and one up on the m62. that are the same as this one. it needs to be higher than where the flushes are now.
john hall, Wed 29 Sep 2010
In short, a complete DUMP. dark and uninviting.. the car park does not look in any shape or form secure, the toilets were shambolic, and the atmosphere was just appalling where everyone was miserable about what a dump it is. NEVER VISIT THIS 'service station' EVER!
David, Mon 13 Sep 2010
Dreadful place, cant imagine a worse place to stop.Never again.
GGS, Mon 23 Aug 2010
Drove in...then straight back out again. It was so small and overcrowded. Drive on to the next service station - at least you can get out and stretch your legs there.
chrissie abercrombie, Mon 5 Jul 2010
Don't stop here unless it's an emergency,Unleaded Fuel £1.28.You are having a laugh!!!
Ian, Fri 23 Apr 2010
Stopped here today and yes the building isn't great and the car park is still a bit of a squeeze but the new costa coffee area is perfect and the BK looks like its had a revamp. My reason for writing this is to thank the staff - they were exceptionally efficient and the most friendly I have encountered at a service area for a long time. A very nice break from driving.
Phil Matlock, Thu 8 Apr 2010
Don't stop here unless desperate. No open/green spaces. Diesel most expensive we've seen yet.
Moon family, Mon 5 Apr 2010
The wretched fiery entrails of hell hold no fear now I have experienced Bridgwater services. A truly monumentally badly-designed facility with literally no redeeming features. Bridgwater services should be bulldozed and replaced with just a small memorial to the happy holiday spirits to which it has laid waste.
Will H, Mon 5 Apr 2010
Me and my wife liked our visit to Bridgwater Services. They've got one of those Costa Coffee places. The car park was a bit cramped but I think it was better than when we came last year.
George Marlin, Mon 11 Jan 2010
The worst place I have ever been to the best place to eat was the petrol station. The car park was dreadful with a couple of tents in there and also some rough sleepers. Stopped in the petrol station to get some nibbles and went on to the next services.
Richard, Wed 6 Jan 2010
the worst services I have ever stopped at, the toilet stank, car parking dreadful with no lighting (NOT GOOD IF YOU ARE ALREADY TIRED FROM MOTORWAY DRIVING)in their strange covered CAR PARK. We decided not to eat, and wait until later only good point staff friendly. have marked it as not to stay at them again EVER.
pauline, Mon 12 Oct 2009
We stopped at these services in August 09 and they are truly dreadful.....there is only one baby changing facility in the whole place and there was a queue with 15 harassed parents in, waiting to get in to get their babies and toddlers cleaned up. The car park is a nightmare, far too small and strangely set out, and the facilities are too small for such a busy motorway. I have now put a note on our map next to these services to say "Never stop here again!!!".
Woodsies, Fri 18 Sep 2009
only stoped here because i was starting to fall asleep its the best way to see this dreadfull place. staff were excellent in shops ect but the place wants nukeing and rebuilding. dont stop here unless you really have to you have been warned!!!!!
andy, Tue 11 Aug 2009
Only stop here if you are desperate for a toilet break. The carpark is enclosed, dark and smells of fumes (not much fun if weather is bad and you want to eat sandwiches in car). The picnic area is close to motorway and noisy. Toilets needed cleaning. Trying to get to main block from carpark wasn't easy with small children as hard to cross with incoming traffic. A horrible place.
Jodie, Sun 28 Jun 2009
As others have said, one of the nastiest services I have ever visited. Avoid this at all costs and go to Taunton Deane instead.Having said that, the Burger King meal I had was fine in itself, it is just that this services is such a nasty, grotty place.
John, Wed 11 Mar 2009
Hahahaha another amenity for Bridgwater to be proud of. As a resident of Bridgwater its just another in a long line of dissapointements our town has. Never have I seen so many people upset with a service station FFS, only Bridgwater could produce one so bad lol.
Mike, Tue 21 Oct 2008
Dont no what they are all whinging about. The lovely staff have to work in this place and they are really lovely, especially when you have to apologise for forgetting to pay for your petrol like silly old me. Lovely staff shame about their working enviroment.
D Tomlinson, Sun 21 Sep 2008
Drive past, this is dreadful. Awful carpark, with roof so low in the multistory my aerial kept 'pinging' off RSJs (my car is not as high as 4x4s either, just a normal Berlingo). badly designed carpark also meant confusion.... Didn't bother going inside, I'd seen enough and drove on, but the building and surroundings looked pokey enough with no where decent to sit outside.
David, Tue 2 Sep 2008
Bridgwater MSA on the M5 is the most uninviting service area I've ever had the misfortune to encounter. Stop there only if your bladder is at risk of bursting should you continue to the next services. The so-called picnic area is woefully inadequate and the whole place feels like it's been squeezed onto much too small a site.
Adrian Chell, Fri 29 Aug 2008
Shite. There was a queue for the car park all the way out to the entrance... People were so desperate they were getting out of their cars to head for the loos then getting back in and U-turning. The smell of man piss came all the way out of the loos to the Burger king area...Scary! Wait the extra 15 - 20 mins or pee in a lay-by.
simon and Mark, Tue 19 Aug 2008
Dire
David Gartside, Thu 14 Aug 2008
Agree with those who say avoid this one if you're towing, unless you're good at reversing. The multi-storey provides welcome shade, but the parking billets are a bit narrow and each has a concrete post next to it which looks unforgiving. Queuing in the car-park isn't helped by the fact that people dither near the entrance rather than driving to the vacant spots futher down.As a woman and an ex-police officer, I completely disagree with the comment about the car-park being dark and scary for a female - statistically, men are in more danger of being attacked, and in any case this carpark is not so big that you could be isolated anywhere in it.
Frances, Sat 9 Aug 2008
I have travelled the full length of the M5 for the last few days at, I might add, different times of the day. I have found that the fuel garage services have been very, very poor.Either the coffee machine has not worked, or there is no hot food available after 8 am.At the one point, I managed to purchase a sausage sandwich. To my complete surprise (or not) there was no sauce (brown, red or whatever) available.I also found that there always appears to be at least two petrol pumps coned off and - again - this appears to be any time of the day.The cold sandwich selection was a complete non-starter. There being only the most unpopular varieties available; sausage and lettuce or whatever.I assume that all of this is due to the holiday season - but might I suggest that you increase the maintenance and supply of your services during the busy period? Also, I would like to point out that yours was not the only one to completely fail in customer satisfaction and service.
Tim, Thu 7 Aug 2008
I cannot praise the general manager Roger Smith hihly enough. I accidentally locked my keys in the car with my tiny baby inside and while I went to pieces, he calmly took control, organized the RAC to come and break in and looked after me until I was fit to drive again. By their nature, service stations are soulless places, but I was shown more kindness there in my time of need than I could ever have imagined. Thank you
Hilary Charlewood, Wed 30 Apr 2008
The car park is dark and frightening if you are a female on your own in the dark. The amenities building is dark and oppressive.
gail kessell, Fri 19 Oct 2007
The place was extremely crowded and was like a concrete city. The place could do with a bit more grass to sit on and picnic tables because on a hot day, you do not want to sit on concrete which took up a good proportion of the service station. Too busy and too concrete!!!
Jamie, Thu 5 Apr 2007
Definitely missing something. An 'e' would make it better. Not even a raised eyebrow in the BK when I proudly payed by credit card, which clearly displayed my famous name...
Ben Bridgewater, Tue 20 Feb 2007
Horrible, horrible, horrible.
I have visited these services twice now. The first time was a summer saturday, and people were waiting for 20 mins to get into the (admittedly unique) multi story. The guys attempting to direct traffic were clearly out of their depth, especially dealing with the caravans that had headed for the car park unaware of the height restriction (a fair enough thing to do, you dont expect things like that on the motorway).
The second time I actually made it into the drab, depressing building. Didnt try the restaurants, but the shop felt like walking into a cupboard. I had a raging hangover from my mates stag night (dont worry, I wasnt driving), and I have to say the visit goes down as a very unpleasant experience.
At least the multi story offered some shade in order to get some comfortable sleep!
Stu, Mon 18 Dec 2006
Its not all that bad, it does the job, i was just disappointed that around dinner time the Burger King was shut, fair enough its a sunday but i wasnt going to pay a fortune in the shop, so i drove onto the next one which was open.
Graham, Tue 31 Oct 2006
If towing a caravan steer clear of these services unless you are good at reversing in a confined area. Bsd caravan signage took me to the lorry park. All parking is by reversing into a bay. The proper caravan parking is no better, it's in the coach park. The services themselves are poor to say the least. Drab and uncomfortable. As far as 'Rip off the motorist' is concerned this site must be top of the table. Go further along the M way to next services.
H. Burrows, Wed 25 Oct 2006
Horrible, horrible services. Ugly, poorly laid out, and depressing. Also note that due to the multi storey car park there is a 2M hight restriction to the car park. I didn't notice the sign and crashed by roof mounted bicycle into a barrier. The Manager was very unfriendly to boot.
Gary, Fri 20 Oct 2006
Area was OK, but on our way to Cornwall, wanted a picnic and there was only a small area of grass. It was crammed, overfilled, ugly and a concrete jungle!
Jamie, Mon 12 Jun 2006
Absolutely awful! Used it a week ago last Saturday on route to North Devon (bank holiday weekend!) and it was awful. Its extremely small - we were queueing for 15 minutes to get into the appallingly shoddy multi-story car park. Inside...well aside from toilets, a Burger King and an untidy and run down shop....theres nothing.
Rob Webster, Mon 5 Jun 2006
Yes, Bridgwater is now a Moto. I was dsappointed with this service area - it's very small and cramped. The multi-storey car park isn't special at all, and the main building is one of the smallest I've seen at a full MSA! It was quite busy on a dull, average Tuesday morning just after Easter - who knows what it must be like on August Bank Holiday!
David Brown, Sat 13 May 2006
Is Bridgwater not a Moto now?
Anonymous, Fri 14 Apr 2006
Bridgwater has what may be the only multi storey car park at an MSA.

Bridgwater Services M5 is a 3 burger rated service area.
Your overall impression of Bridgwater Services M5:
You must choose one of the overall ratings, above. Optionally, you can also give a rating for any or all of the other options.
Based on your own experience, would you say that this is a good service area for
